elphi continues its legacy of more than 100 years of creating
innovations that advance the automotive industry. As a
pioneer in the development of electric and hybrid vehicles
elphi Electronics and Safety’s Kokomo Morgan Street facility has
been instrumental in providing green technologies since 2010. The
90,000 square foot facility employs 190 people over three shifts and
supports four vehicle manufacturers in North America, Europe and
Asia Pacific.
Delphi is ideally situated to help automakers navigate the
requirements of next generation hybrids and new electrical vehicles.
The products manufactured in Kokomo utilize green technology
which is achieved through vehicle electrification that allows for
improved fuel consumption and significant reduction of CO2
emissions. A few of these green technologies include inverters,
converters, battery management controllers, and battery chargers.
A strong technological foundation in Kokomo helps Kokomo
Morgan Street offer customers the world class products they need to
succeed in this fast growing market. To manufacture these products
in Kokomo the plant receives 1,700 components from more than
160 suppliers that ship materials from 30 countries. The high tech
manufacturing process utilizes automated placement equipment that
places over 200 million electronic components per month. Once
the components are placed, the products go through a series of
process steps that include hand placement of components, soldering,
coating, welding, final assembly and test. The units are then ready to
ship to our global customers.
