Ken Lucas has been in the furniture industry for nearly 30 years in
retail and as a manufacturer’s rep. “I’ve always worked in the furniture
trade and learned a lot working for furniture manufacturers Pulaski
and Liberty, lines that I carry here in the store now,” said Lucas.
Lucas Furniture and Mattress focuses on the “bones” of the furniture
& mattresses, the things you can’t see from the outside are the most
important when buying new furniture & mattresses. That often starts
with American made goods, and some vendors are Hoosier/Amish
craftsmen. “We buy from Amish furniture crafters here in Indiana
that offer solid wood furniture made in small shops throughout
Northern Indiana. The quality is built to last a lifetime and beyond,”
said Lucas. “They offer a large selection of different woods and
finishes and pieces are customizable; bedroom furniture, kitchen
tables, bar stools. Amish are known for their attention to detail,
building furniture one piece at a time without an assembly line.”
Lucas is also very proud to offer Indiana made Restonic brand
mattresses at their stores, these beds are made in New Albany, Indiana
and offer much more value than the better known brands.
“People are willing to pay a little more for American made furniture
& mattresses, especially here in Kokomo. We are a strong union town
and understand the importance of keeping US jobs and growing the
economy where you live,” said Lucas. “We carry Flexsteel, England
Furniture, Vaughn Bassett, Amish Home, Serta, Tempur-Pedic &
Restonic, all US made companies.”
