Local troopers receive honors from the state
INDIANAPOLIS
– Three
state troopers serving at the
Indiana State Police Peru
Post received state awards
Sept. 10 for their service and
bravery.
Trooper Luke Bowyer was
recognized as the 2013
Trooper of the District for his
dedication to the job, traffic
and criminal enforcement,
community involvement, in-
structor ratings, specialty as-
signments and other services
performed for the depart-
ment beyond normal expec-
tations.
He was selected by the
command staff at the Peru
District. Bowyer has worked
for the state police for almost
seven years. He patrols pri-
marily in Miami County.
Trooper A.J. Coffee received
the Indiana State Police Life
Award for his commitment to
removing impaired drivers
from Indiana roadways. In
2012, he led the Peru District
with 52 impaired driving ar-
rests. Coffee is a six year vet-
eran of the department, and
primarily patrols in Grant
County.
Trooper Ben Reason also
received the Indiana State
Police Life Award for his
commitment to removing
impaired drivers from Indi-
ana roadways. In 2013, he led
the Peru District with 30 im-
paired driving arrests. Rea-
son has worked for the Indi-
ana State Police for almost
two years, and primarily pa-
trols in Cass County.
“The quality of work per-
formed by these troopers is
second to none,” said Lieu-
tenant Jeremy Kelly, com-
mander of the Peru Post, in a
press release. “Their commit-
ment to keeping the citizens
and visitors of Indiana safe is
deserving of the recognition
bestowed upon them.”
