The Peru School Board
Sept. 8 hired a new principal
and assistant principal for
Peru Junior High School.
Sheri Spiker, who for-
merly served as the school’s
assistant principal and ath-
letic director for two years,
was appointed to take over
as principal after the posi-
tion was vacated by Sam
Watkins, who was hired as
superintendent last month.
“I’m very excited,” Watkins
said Sept 10. “We have a
good system in place at the
junior high, both in academ-
ics and athletics. With Mrs.
Spiker, we’ll be able to con-
tinue that high achievement.
She’s really going to en-
hance our programs.”
Brady McClure, a former
math teacher and basketball
coach at Wabash Middle
School, was hired as the new
assistant principal and ath-
letic director, which will be
the first time he’s worked in
an administrative position.
“We’ve stolen him from
Wabash County, and we’re
glad we did,” Watkins said
with a laugh. “They’re going
to miss him. He’s a very
good fit for Peru Junior
High.”
Watkins said both Spiker
and McClure have a record
of helping students thrive
and succeed, and the junior
high will be well served by
them.
“We feel that these candi-
dates are great selections,”
he said. “When you look for
administrators, you want
someone that’s all about ser-
vice to the community and
service to students. These
two do just that. They fit
perfectly with our school
philosophy.”
