He retired from Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton, Ohio, in 1970 after 22 years as a civil engineer. He was a 1934 graduate of Monterey High School, and attended Tennessee Technological Unviersity and Ohio State University. He was a member of the Mayland Church of Christ, The National Bantam Association and a 22-year member of the National Clock and Watch Association.
Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Gladys Howard Swafford of Monterey; daughter, Jo Carolyn Ward of Cookeville; twin brother Robbie Irvine of Monterey, and brother Col. She was born Oct. 25, 1899 in Yorktown, Texas. She was a graduate of the College of Industrial Arts in Denton, Texas, Barnes Hospital Dietetic School in St. Louis and Eden Theological Seminary in St. Louis. She served as a dietitian at Walter Reed Hospital in Washington, D.C., director of Christian education on churches in St. Louis, teacher in the Evangelical Presbyterian Seminary in Peki Blengo, Ghana. She also worked as the editor of a number of church newsletters and, in recent years, as a pink lady at Cumberland Medical Center. She and her husband moved to Pleasant Hill in 1970.
She was a member of the Pleasant Hill Community Church and Uplands Retirement Village.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Theodore, in 1982. She is survived by two sons and their spouses: Ted and Donna, and Richard and Trudy of Pleasant Hill, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and one brother.
A memorial service (no viewing) will be at 2 p.m. today, April 15 in Christ Lutheran Church with Rev. Kehnle officiating.
He was born Dec. 14, 1921 in Kenosha, Wis., to Frank and Alice (Fuss) Luhn. On Feb. 9, 1951, he married Mae Oline Johnson.
Rev. Luhn retired from Lutheran Social Services of Northwest Ohio in 1982 after serving as its director for six years.
He received his bachelor's degree from Augsburg College in Minneapolis in 1952 and his divinity degree from Northwestern Theological Lutheran Seminary in 1955. Previous to this, he served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
He began his ministry as an associate professor of Trinity Lutheran Church in Appleton, Wis., in 1955. In 1957, he organized and served as pastor of St. Marks Lutheran Church in Milwaukee where, as pastor, he participated vigorously in the local crusade for equal rights, marching in several demonstrations.
He subsequently served as pastor at St. Timothy Lutheran Church in Sturgis, Mich. He was also employed by the St. Joseph County Council on the Aging in Michigan. Since retirement he also served many churches as a supply and interim pastor.
During his year of active ministry, he was a member of Kiwanis, the Ministerial Association and Church People for Change and Reconciliation. He coached softball, basketball and Little League baseball. He was an avid amateur thespian, appearing in theater productions in Sturgis and at Encore Theater in Lima, Ohio. He was a collector of Henry Aaron memorabilia, having one of the most extensive Aaron scrapbooks in the country. He also was a writer who authored two unpublished books about Aaron. His religious articles often were published in The Lutheran Magazine.
In retirement Rev. Luhn was a member of Christ Lutheran Church in Fairfield Glade.
Survivors include sons and daughter-in-laws Perry and Kathy Luhn of Elida Ohio, and Rod and Linda Luhn of Middletown, N.J., daughter and son-in-law Bonnie and John Purpura of Panama City, Fla., brother, Herbert Luhn of Illinois, sisters Carol Horton of Idaho, Jayne Mackey of Wisconsin, Elaine Kaydo of Wisconsin, six grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mr. Meek passed away March 30. He was born Dec. 15, 1922, in Portsmouth, VA, son of Shirley Leonard Meek and Mabel Barnes Meek. He was an engineer with ABB Combustion Engineering Company 1957-1982. He was a member of Fairfield Glade United Methodist Church and served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Margaret Meek of Fairfield Glade; daughter Margaret Taylor of Atlanta; sons David Meek of Chattanooga, James S. Meek Jr. of Lewisville, TX, and John Meek of Chattanooga; and three grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, Lela Tilley; stepson Bobby Emery; granddaughter Tammy Campbell; two great-grandchildren, Amanda and Adam Reagan; sisters Beulah Bilbrey and Mildred Quarles, all of Crossville; and brother, Luther Tilley, of Chattanooga.

Mrs. Riddle was born Sept. 14, 1921, in Twinton, Tenn., to the late James and Rebecca Threet. She was a homemaker and member of the Victory Christian Center in Monterey.
She is survived by daughters and son-in-laws, Frances and Clifford Phillips of Monterey and Camilla and Bobby Kidwell of Anderson; son and daughter-in-law Frank and Marlene Riddle of Clarkrange; sister Mary York of Anderson; and brother, Fletch Threet of Jamestown.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Riddle.

Mr. Spurrier died April 4 in Cumberland Medical Center after a brief illness. A resident of Cumberland County, he was born in Livingston on Dec. 6, 1912, to the late William Thomas and Martha Jane (Thomas) Spurrier.
Mr. Spurrier was a retired self-employed businessman. His livelihood ventures included owners of gas stations, grocery stores, restaurants and an Army surplus store. At one time he operated a mobile home park and was involved in the sawmill and lumbering trades as well as well drilling operations.
During World War II, in 1944, he was the football coach for the Crossville High School football team, the old Red Devils.
His family includes his wife, Hazel Cox Spurrier; daughters Evelyn Hargis and Marilyn Norman Stultz; grandsons John Norman, Michael Spurrier and Keith Hargis; and granddaughter, Karen Hargis, all of Crossville.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers Jim, Charles and Edward Spurrier; sisters Myrtle Brown, Mary Barnes, Nan Ray and Margaret Nolen; and an infant son, William Theodore Spurrier.

Mr. Sanders was born May 26, 1930, in Nashville and had been a resident of Winter Beach for 45 years, moving there from St. Augustine, FL. He was a concessions operator in a carnival for 28 years. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Winter Beach, Masonic Crossville Lodge No. 483, American Legion Post No. 0163 of Crossville.
Survivors include his wife, Velma L. Sanders of Winter Beach.

Mrs. Steele passed away March 30 at Cookeville General Hospital. She was born July 3, 1918, in Monterey, to the late Jeff and Belle Walker Swafford. Mrs. Steele was a homemaker, a member of the Monterey First Freewill Baptist Church and a retired practical nurse at the old Monterey Hospital.

Survivors include daughters Carrie (Lee) Beech of Crossville and Ina Fay Lucas of McHenry, Miss.; son Gerald Ray Cruthirds of Wiggins; eight grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
