She was preceded in death by her husband, Casto Cumby; daughters, Louetha Cumby and Bonnie King; stepdaughter, Francis Howard; brothers, Jessie Lee and Donald Lee; sisters, Willie Oakes and Rita Womack; and two grandsons.

Mr. Vance died Tuesday March 25, 1997 in the Cumberland Medical Center in Crossville. A resident of Cumberland County, he was born in Overton County Dec. 4, 1918 to the late William Bryan and Stella Mae "Maxwell" Vance.
He was retired from the United States Postal Service in Crossville and was a funeral director and embalmer in the area for many years, having graduated from the John A. Gupton College in 1947, in Nashville. He was a member
of the First Baptist church in Crossville for many years. He served in World War II in the U.S. Army. His family includes his wife, Ineta Vance of Crossville; sons and daughters-in-law, Rev. Bill and Debbi Vance of Monterey and Steve and Pam Vance of Crossville; grandchildren, Casey and Cathy Vance of Monterey and Nathan and Jordan Vance of Crossville; sisters, Mary Ruth Young of Lebanon, Tenn., and Imogene Poston of Livingston, Tenn.; and brother, Keith Vance of Livingston.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Harold and Louis Vance. The Sanctuary Class of the First Baptist Church of Crossville served as Honorary Pallbearers. A retired teacher, Mrs. Cate spent her adult years caring for family, friends and students as she encouraged them to be all that they could be. She loved to read and shared her love of learning with everyone around her. Those who knew Mrs. Cate found her to be friendly and generous with her devotion of time and service. She had a keen interest in and knowledge of what was going on in the community and the world.
Mrs. Cate taught at York Agricultural Institute (YAI) in Jamestown, for 11 yearsÑeight as English teacher and three as librarian. While at YAI, students showed their appreciation and admiration for her by dedicating the 1961 YAI annual to her. Upon leaving YAI in 1964, she was quoted as saying, "Since I am a member of the first graduating class at YAI and the first graduate of the school to teach here, I can truly say a part of me will always be with YAI. The many happy and pleasant memories, and love for my devoted friends here will be with me always."
After leaving YAI, she continued her career as librarian at Cumberland County High School for ten years before retiring in 1974. She was at her happiest when helping others find resources for learning and encouraging their desire for knowledge.
During her teaching years, Mrs. Cate taught every grade level in elementary school except for the eight grade. She taught at Red Hill, York, and Allardt elementary schools in Fentress County; and one year in Lee County, Texas. Other positions were music teacher, supervisor of Fentress County Schools and caseworker with the Department of Welfare. She often said her work as caseworker was one of her most meaningful lifetime experiences. Mrs. Cate graduated from YAI in 1927, and Cumberland University in 1932. Dedicated to using her gifts and talents, she served as church organist for the First United Methodist Church in Jamestown and also the First United Methodist Church of Crossville, where she was still a member. After retirement, she enjoyed being a member of the Cumberland County Retired Teachers Association.
Survivors are son, Joe H. Cate Jr., of Knoxville; a sister, Alice Harrison of Crossville; brother, Willard Johnson of Houston, Texas; and granddaughters, Stephanie Noble and Stacy Cate, both of Knoxville. Graveside Services were conducted at 2 p.m. Friday, March 21, 1997 at Green Acres Memory Gardens with interment following. Rev. Tommy Duncan officiated with special music by John Sloan.

Mrs. Weyhrich was born Sept. 12, 1922 in Pekin to William L. and Alvena F. Albers Gleich. She married Nelson L. Weyhrich Sept. 29, 1946 in Pekin. She was a member of Compassionate Friends and also the Sand Prairie Home Extention Unit. She was the 1965 Mother of the Year in Pekin. She was a former president of the Jefferson School Mother's Club and Cub Scout Den Mother. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Green Valley, where she was active in Sunday School for the young children. She was a former member of the Epiphany Society of her church.

Mr. Grimsley suffered an apparent massive stroke Sunday morning at First Baptist Church while preparing breakfast for the Baptist Men's Brotherhood meeting. He died later that day in Cookeville General Hospital. He was born Jan. 8, 1913 in Putnam, Tenn., and was the son of the late Howard and Ella Phillips Grimsley. He was retired from the tax revenue division with the State of Tennessee Department of Revenue. He was a member of the Monterey First Baptist Church for more than 70 years; a member of the men's senior adult Sunday school class and a member of the church choir for more than 50 years.
He was a member of the Monterey Masonic Lodge No. 751 and a member of the American License Plate Association.
He was an avid outdoorsman.

Mr. McCloud was born July 29, 1957 in Overton County to J.D. and Bessie Harris McCloud. He was employed with Hermitage Hardwood in Cookeville.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife, Joan Meek McCloud of Monterey; stepdaughters, Joannie Holt and Jodi Holt, both of Monterey; sister, Debbie Burke of Monterey; brothers, Dennis McCloud, Tommy McCloud, Keith McCloud and Scottie McCloud, all of Monterey; and maternal grandmother, Rachel Harris of Monterey.
Goff Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
Pallbearers were Mr. Welch's brothers.
Mr. Welch was born Aug. 8, 1925 in Campbell County to Thomas and Bernice Wyles Welch. He was a heavy equipment operator and of the Protestant faith.
He was preceded in death by his father, Thomas L. Welch, and sister, Vera Mullinax.
Survivors include his wife, Shirley Welch of Crossville; daughter, Sharon Welch of Crossville; son, Linley M. Welch of Florida; two grandchildren; mother, Bernice Welch of Crab Orchard; brothers, Conrad, Albert, Ralph and William Welch, all of Crossville, Reval Welch of Dayton, Texas; Donald Welch of Deweyville, Texas, and Larry Welch of Palestine, Texas; and sisters, Dorothy Love, Darlean Mullinax and Norma Turner, all of Crab Orchard, and Bertha Welch of Covington, Ga.
