He served in the Lancaster VFD in the 1940s and was a member of the IOOF Lodge for 55 years. He was also an active member of the Lancaster United Methodist Church for 30 years.

Survivors include her daughters and sons-in-law, Milda and Jim Crowley of Knoxville, Susie and Tom Murphy and Martha and Alfred Dishman, all of Crossville, and Mary and Les Horan of Atlanta, GA; sons and daughters-in-law, Chester and Midge Kilby, Robert and Alene Kilby, and Clay and Della Kilby, all of Crossville, and Lester and Pearl Kilby of Grandview, TN; 43 grandchildren; 77 great-grandchildren; 18 great-great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Sherman and Jack Pelfrey, both of Crossville.
Pallbearers were Jim Edwards, Larry Kilby, Walker Kilby, Buck Amonett, John Kilby and Ronnie Edwards.

He was born Aug. 6, 1928 in Pleasant Hill, TN, the son of Guy and Lubirda Clouse Wilbanks. He was retired from Dayton Press, and the Dayton Public School System. he was a member of the Brantwood Baptist Church in Riverside.
Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Dorothy; daughters and sons-in-law, Linda and Charles Smith, of Grove City, OH, and Sharon and James Gullett of Franklin, OH; grandchildren, Christopher, Jennifer, Christina, Clayton, Alicia and Shallon Smith, and Steven Gullett; great-grandchildren, Kristina and Tyler; and several neices and nephews.
