MARY SUSAN BOWERS

Funeral services for Mary Susan Bowers, 92, of Crossville, who passed away Feb. 19, 1999, will be held March 3 from Brown Funeral Home in Martinsburg, WV, with burial in Rosedale Cemetery.

She was born Aug. 27, 1906 in Martinsburg, WV, the daughter of Charles and Mabel E. Miller Hodges.

Mrs. Bowers was a saleslady for Avon, and she was of the Presbyterian faith. Survivors include her daughters, Mary Maitland of Crossville, and Sally Aldrich of Bloomington, IL; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Bowers; and sisters, Sally Morgan, Josephine Pfaltzgraph and Evelyn Hodges.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. March 2 at Brown Funeral Home in Martinsburg.

LARRY "KEITH" DAVID BUTLER

Funeral services for Larry "Keith" David Butler, 36, of Crab Orchard, who passed away Feb. 21, 1999, will be held Saturday, Feb. 27, at 3 p.m. from the chapel of Burris Funeral Home, with burial in Crossville City Cemetery.

Visitation will be today, Feb. 26, from 6 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
He was born Nov. 15, 1962 in Gadsden, AL, the son of Ralph and Violet Butler.
Mr. Butler was an oil well worker with H&H BI-CO. He was also owner and operator of Rock of Ages Mobile DJ.

Survivors include his parents, Ralph and Violet Butler of Fairfield Glade; brother and sister-in-law, David and Jennifer Butler of Crossville; nephews, Jason (Amanda) Butler of Evanston, WY, Joe (Rachel) Butler of Crossville, and Bryan Anderson of Crossville; nieces, Brandy Jo Butler of Worland, WY, and Jayme Anderson of Crossville; great-nieces, Aspen Butler and Chandin Turner, both of Wyoming; great-nephews, Jordon Butler of Fairfield Glade; grandparents, Preston and Rosie Butler of Attalla, AL; and family friend, Becky Henrikson of Fairfield Glade.

ELIZABETH KAMMANN

A memorial Mass for Elizabeth Kammann, 71, of Fairfield Glade, who passed away Feb. 23, 1999, will be celebrated today, Feb. 26, at 10 a.m. from St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Fairfield Glade. The Rev. Philip Thoni will officiate.

She was born Feb. 26, 1927, in Detroit, MI, the daughter of Ferdinand and Julia Crowley Troe.

Mrs. Kammann was a pharmacy technician, and she was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church.

Survivors include her husband, Bob Kammann of Fairfield Glade; daughters, Judith Plasencia of Novi, MI, and Ellen Steinmetz of Rochester Hills, MI; sons, Edward Kammann and Charles Kammann of Rochester Hills, MI, Douglas Kammann of Mason, MI, William Kammann of Harper Woods, MI, Greg Kammann of Grosse Pointe Park, MI; nine grandchildren; and sister, Dorothy Stringer of Eastpointe, MI.
She was preceded in death by her son, Kenneth Kammann.

JEFF HAROLD TABOR

Funeral services for Jeff Harold Tabor, 32, of Crossville, who passed away Feb. 16, 1999, were held Feb. 22 from the chapel of Bilbrey Funeral Home, with burial in Green Acres Memory Gardens.

He was born Aug. 2, 1966 in Cumberland County, the son of Anthony Harold and Elsie Mae Wyatt Tabor.

Mr. Tabor was self-employed in building construction, and he was of the Baptist faith. He served in the U.S. Army.

Survivors include his wife, Susan Kimbro Tabor of Crossville; stepchildren, Nicholas, Felechia and Natasha Wyatt, all of Crossville; mother, Elsie M. Tabor of Crossville; brother, Ronnie Tabor of Shelbyville, TN; grandparents, Marshall and Ruby Tabor of Crossville; grandmother, Louise Wyatt of Crossville; great-grandmothers, Zona Kerley and Carrie Campbell, both of Crossville; and several aunts and uncles.

He was preceded in death by his father, Anthony Tabor.

Pallbearers were Chris Tabor, DeWayne Tabor, Steve Bridges, Derek Johnson, Shawn Wyatt, Jason Eldridge, Brian Bridges and Chad Tabor.

FLOYD COLLINS

Funeral services for Floyd Collins, 73, of Crossville, who passed away Feb. 20, 1999, were held Feb. 21 from the chapel of Bilbrey Funeral Home, with burial in Green Acres Memory Gardens.

He was born Aug. 14, 1925 in Nancy, KY, the son of William Wesley and Ollie Gossett Collins.

Mr. Collins was a factory inspector for General Motors Corp. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

Survivors include his wife, Odene Jackson Collins of Crossville; and son, Roger Collins of Crossville.

Pallbearers were Gary Bolin, Jimmy Bolin, Paul Bolin, Johnny Inman, David Loshbough, Robert Jackson and Matthew Loshbough.

MADELINE EDITH DUBOIS

Funeral services for Madeline Edith Dubois, 74, of Crossville, who passed away Feb. 13, 1999, were held Feb. 19 from the chapel of Bilbrey Funeral Home, with burial in Crossville City Cemetery.

She was born Nov. 30, 1924 in Nashville, MI, the daughter of Lee A. Clutter and Gertrude L. Thorstinson Clutter.

Mrs. Dubois was employed in operation of a landscape nursery.
She was of the Baptist faith, and she was an active member of the Michigan VFW Women's Auxiliary.
Survivors include her daughters and sons-in-law, Sherri and Edward Hamblin of Mulberry, FL, Sharron and Walter Howe of Crossville, and Terri and Robert Taylor of Jacksonville, FL; sons and daughters-in-law, Garry and Terri Dubois of Champaign, IL, and Timothy and Susan Dubois of Crossville; 20 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; sisters, Lela Thorn of Rockford, MI, and Virginia Sweet of Punta Gorda, FL; and brothers, Paul Clutter of Zephyr Hills, FL, and Stanley Clutter of Battle Creek, MI.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph August Dubois; and sons, Billy Lee Dubois and James Leroy Byrd.

The Rev. David Allen officiated, with eulogy by Garry Dubois.

ROBERT "BOB" ELLIOTT PATTON SR.

Funeral services for Robert "Bob" Elliott Patton Sr., who passed away Feb. 19, 1999, were held Feb. 21 at First United Methodist Church, with burial in Crossville City Cemetery.

He was born Sept. 29, 1936 to Laura Lillian and James Earl Patton.

He moved with his family to Decatur, AL, in 1948, and graduated from Decatur High School in 1954. He joined the U.S. Army and graduated from Athens College in 1959. Mr. Patton worked and lived in the city of Huntsville for a short time and then brought the Honda motorcycle dealership to Decatur. He lived and worked in Decatur for the next 20 years, serving as a school teacher, and eventually becoming the chief juvenile probation officer for Morgan County. He was also a charter member of Covenant Presbyterian Church in Decatur. He was elected to Decatur's City Council in 1976, and in 1978 to the Alabama House of Representatives.

In 1982, he moved to Crossville, where he became manager of Plateau Properties, and an active member of Crossville's Breakfast Rotary Club and First United Methodist Church.

He assumed many civic leadership roles in Cumberland County, the latest of which was as chairman of the Rotary Club's renovation of the Crossville Depot. The main meeting area, bearing his name, was dedicated to him in honor of his service to the people of Cumberland County.

Survivors include his wife Edna Sue Harrison Patton; children, Robert Elliott Patton Jr. of Birmingham, AL, Patrice Compton of Southaven, MS, and George Earl Patton of Nashville, TN; grandchildren Susan Compton, Mark Witt Compton, Robert Elliott Patton III, Abigail Patrice Patton, and Rebecca McKinley Patton; mother, Lillian Patton Black; stepfather, Greer Black; sisters, Barbara Bunting of Hartselle, AL, and Martha Starkey of Scottsboro, AL; stepbrothers, Tommy Black, Howell Black; stepsister, Diane Hampton; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews,and other loved ones.

Dr. James H. Beasley Jr., and the Revs. Paul Ransford and Loretta Stutz officiated. Pallbearers were Nick Owens, Fred Flick, Joe Reed, Bob Mitchell, Jim Everitt, Tom Looney, Howard Mercer, Don Hinch, Kenneth Burnett and Joe Looney.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the American Cancer Society, Hospice of Cumberland County or to the First United Methodist Church for the purpose of establishing a youth scholarship.

Funeral services for Bessie Beaty Worthington, 98, of Fairfield Glade, who passed away Feb. 22, 1999, will be held Feb. 26 at 11 a.m. from the chapel of Suber Funeral Home in Fletcher, OH. Burial will be in Greenville City Cemetery.

Visitation will be Feb. 25 from 4 to 8 p.m.
She was born Feb. 16, 1901 in Champaign County, OH, the daughter of Elliott Franklin and Mary Alta Dodson Hamilton.

Mrs. Worthington was a retired school teacher for Greenville Public Schools System in Greenville, OH.

Survivors include her daughter, Irene and son-in-law, Donald Hawker of Fairfield Glade; stepdaughters, Edna Sargeant of Sidney, OH, and Inez Smith of Fletcher, OH; brother, Charles Samuel and wife, Amy Hamilton of St. Paris, OH; sister, Mary Mabel Wert of Urbana, OH; and grandchild, Deborah Ungericht Miller and husband, Robert Miller of Harriman, TN.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Wilbur Monroe Beaty; second husband, Johnie Worthington; and sisters, Cleo, Katie, Lelia, Lucinda and Agnes.

EVELYN RUTH CUMMINS

Memorial services for Evelyn Ruth Cummins, 82, of Crossville, who passed away Feb. 16, 1999, will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 27, at First Congregational Church in Crossville. The Rev. Cecil McFarland will officiate.

She was born Jan. 28, 1917 in Coxton, KY, the daughter of Leonard Gardner Broughton Sr. and Lela Virginia Cox Broughton.

Mrs. Cummins was of the Protestant faith.
Survivors include her sons, Gerald Bruce Gooding and David Edward Cummins, both of Chattanooga; grandson, Russell Cummins of Chattanooga; sister, Lena Alverda Johns of Lewisville, OH; and brothers, Charles Eugene Broughton of Lake Tansi Village, and Leonard Gardner Broughton Jr. of Dorris, CA.

Funeral services for Crystal Mae Hawn, 74, of Crossville, who passed away Feb. 15, 1999, were held Feb. 17 from the chapel of Bilbrey Funeral Home, with burial in Slate Springs Cemetery.

She was born Sept. 1, 1924 in Crossville, the daughter of Ell and Leda Kilby Norris. Mrs. Hawn was a homemaker, and she was of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include her sons, Paul Hawn, Dallas Hawn and Johnny Hawn, all of Crossville, and Danny Hawn and David Hawn, both of Goshen, IN; daughters, Susie Davis, Lennis Wood and Elizabeth Barnett, all of Crossville, and Linda Kay Stewart of Pikeville, TN; 21 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; sisters, Minnie Johnson, Ellen Turner and Myrtle Howard, all of Crossville; and brothers, Avery, Clenes and Raymond Norris, all of Crossville.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Wiley Hawn; brothers, Arlis, Henry and Ellard Norris; and grandchild, Walter Barnes.

HENRY "ED" BROWN

Funeral services for Henry Ed Brown of Cleveland, TN, who passed away Feb. 16, 1999, were held Feb. 18 from the chapel of Fike Funeral Home in Cleveland, with the Rev. Jamison L. Work officiating. Burial is scheduled for today, Feb. 19, in Northview Cemetery in Dublin, GA.
He was born Aug. 24, 1920 in Henderson, NC, the son of Oliver Mack and Ola M. Bishop Brown.
Mr. Brown was a deacon at Lantana Road Baptist Church in Crossville, and he was retired from the Blount Brothers Corporation.

Survivors include his daughters and sons-in-law, Elaine and Charlie Brown of Cleveland, Peggy Brown Smith of Roswell, GA, and Nancy Brown and Gary Roadruck of Cuyahoga Falls, OH; son and daughter-in-law, Travis E. and Johanna Brown of Rome, GA; grandchildren, Pamela Ann Brown, Joshua David Brown, Travis Brown Jr., Marjorie Brown Cribb, Benjamin Henry Roadruck and Aimee Brown Smith; and brother, Travis L. CATHY JOY SEEGRAVES

Funeral services for Cathy Joy Seegraves, 47, of Rockledge, FL, who passed away Jan. 25, 1999, were held Jan. 30 from the chapel of Bilbrey Funeral Home, with burial in New Pleasant Hill Cemetery.

She was born June 16, 1951 in Cookeville, the daughter of M. Thomas Welch Jr., and Clemma Rose Gentry Welch.

Mrs. Seegraves was a bookkeeper for the Brevard Baptist Association, and she was a member of King Street Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband, Barry F. Seegraves of Rockledge, FL; daughter, Rochelle Seegraves of Jefferson City, TN; son, Bryan Seegraves of Charleston, SC; mother, Rose Welch of Crossville; brothers, Philip Welch of Lavergne, TN, Bill Welch of Maryville, TN, and Tommy Welch of Crossville; and sisters, Thresa Hargrove of Hendersonville, and Ellen Griffith of Crossville.

She was preceded by her father, M. Thomas Welch Jr.

LAVERN LOUISE EDMONDS

Funeral services for Lavern Louise Edmonds, 86, of Lantana Road, Crossville, who passed away Feb. 12, 1999, were held Feb. 14 from the chapel of Bilbrey Funeral Home, with burial in Green Acres Memory Gardens.

She was born May 6, 1912 in Lincoln County, TN, the daughter of Lon and Laura Reynolds Shelton.
Mrs. Edmonds was a housewife, and she was a member of the Church of Christ.
Survivors include her brothers-in-law and wives, Jerry and Glendon Edmonds, and Roy and Maggie Myers, all of Crossville; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, T. Alfred Edmonds; brother, J.D. Shelton; and sister, Glendon Philpot.
Pallbearers were Randall Myers, Travis Reeves, Raymond Smith, Mike Littleton, Brian Littleton and Jim Nelson.

POWELL DUNBAR GARRISON JR.

Funeral services for Powell Dunbar Garrison Jr., 73, of Crossville, who passed away Feb. 10, 1999, were held Feb. 13 at Crossville First Baptist Church, with the Revs. David Allen and Joseph Nickell officiating.

Graveside services were held in Crossville City Cemetery, with Bros. Sidney White and Larry McDuffie officiating. Full military honors were conducted by the Roane County Military Memorial Guard Inc.
He was born March 14, 1925, in Cumberland County, the son of Powell D. Sr. and Anne Fine Garrison.
Mr. Garrison was owner of Garrison Gulf and U-Haul Service Center on West Avenue in Crossville for 40 years. He was a member and deacon of Crossville First Baptist Church, and he was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Marine Corps.

Survivors include his wife, Faye Garrison of Crossville; daughter and son-in-law, Pat and Rhonda Ellis of Woodbridge, VA; grandchildren, Amber Ellis and Chad Ellis of Woodbridge, VA, and Autumn Garrison and Kelcye Garrison of Lexington, KY; sister, Sue Garrison West of Crossville; and nephew, Clark West and wife, Shannon, of Crossville.

He was preceded in death by his son, Powell D. Garrison III; and parents, Powell D. Sr., and Anne Fine Garrison.
Pallbearers were Robert Walker, L.A. Fox Sr., Hook Boston, Bob Parker, Dewey Hicks, Ross Snodderly, Joe Lee Smith and Greg Boston.

DONALD J. LANPHERE

Funeral services for Donald J. Lanphere, 76, of Park Ridge, IL, who passed away Feb. 12, 1999, were held Feb. 15 at Park Ridge Community Church. Private burial services followed.
Mr. Lanphere worked as a commodities broker at the Chicago Board of Trade for many years, and he was a veteran of World War II.

He was a former resident of Crossville.
Survivors include his children, Susan (Rick) Dozier of Florida, Donald J. Jr. (Aimee) of Glenview, IL, Cynthia (Scott) Engle of Park Ridge, IL, Dean (Kathy) of Chicago, and Doyle (Jill) of Glenview, IL; 11 grandchildren; brother-in-law, William (Mary) Muno and Lucy (Harmon) Kurtz.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Rita E. Lanphere in December 1998.

VENA LOUISE CAMPBELL

Funeral services for Vena Louise Campbell, 70, of Midway Road, Crossville, who passed away Feb. 9, 1999, were held Feb. 12 from the chapel of Bilbrey Funeral Home, with burial in Akins Cemetery. Bro. Noble Wright officiated.

She was born Aug. 6, 1928 in Cumberland County, the daughter of Clay and Ellen Blaylock Norris. Mrs. Campbell was a homemaker, and she was of Protestant faith.

Survivors include her son, Andrew Campbell of Philadelphia, PA; daughters, Nita Winningham and Juanita Wyatt, both of Crossville; 11 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; sisters, Minnie Simmons, Lucille Burgess and Judy Bolin, all of Crossville; and brother, Junior Norris of Crossville.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Milton Leslie Campbell; and son, Milton Dean Campbell. Pallbearers were her grandsons, Jeff, Jamie and Bruce DeMetro; Shane and Tim Wyatt; and Dennie Hubbard.

BARRY PAUL FORD

A memorial service for Barry Paul Ford, 46, of Red Road, Sparta, TN, who passed away Feb. 8, 1999, was held Feb. 11 from the chapel of Bilbrey Funeral Home.
He was born May 3, 1952 in Bangor, ME, the son of Alva and Gretchen Carver Ford.
Mr. Ford was inventory manager for Tri-County Equipment Co.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Alice Roberts Ford of Crossville; son, Benjamin Ford of Washington, DC; and sister, Cora Banerjee of West Kingston, RI.
The Rev. Eliot Roberts officiated, with the eulogy by William Roberts and special music by Scott Ferguson.

FERN HARRIS IRWIN

Fern Harris Irwin, 91, of Pleasant Hill, passed away Feb. 9, 1999.
She was born Oct. 23, 1907 in Edgley, ND, the daughter of William H. and Mabel Lee Harris. Mrs. Irwin was a homemaker, and she was a member of Pleasant Hill Community Church.
Survivors include her brother, R. L. Harris of Laurie, MO; and several loving nieces and nephews. Burris Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

KATHERINE LOUISE KEISLING OLSEN

Memorial services were held for Katherine Louise Keisling Olsen, 78, who passed away Feb. 9, 1999, were held Feb. 12 at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Casper, WY.

She was born Jan. 22, 1921 in Alpine, TN, the daughter of William Y. and Mattie D. Keisling. Mrs. Olsen graduated from Cumberland Mountain School in Crossville in 1937, and she attended Tennessee State Teachers College in Murfreesboro for two years.

She earned a B.S. degree in textiles and clothing from the University of Tennessee in 1941, and she taught high school economics in Stanley, ND and Lovell, WY. She married Robert N. Olsen July 30, 1950.
Mrs. Olsen was a homemaker, and was secretary and stenographer for her husband's construction company, Lobo Inc. She also was active in Our Savior's Lutheran Church, the Lutheran Church Library Association, and was secretary-treasurer, vice president and president of Casper Home Economists. She received the Outstanding Home Economist in Homemaking award in September, 1985 by the Wyoming Home Economists Association.

Survivors include her husband, Robert of Casper, WY; daughters, Carol Moler of Cheyenne, WY, Judy Ellis of Casper, and Astri Olsen of Minnetonka, MN; son, Ken Olsen of Coeur d'Alene, ID; sister, Mary Ruth Keisling of Washington, DC; brother, James Draper Keisling of Crossville; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her brother, Charles, in 1967.

WILLIAM M. ROYSDON

Funeral services for William M. Roysdon, 83, of Tuscaloosa, AL, who passed away Jan. 20, 1999, were held Jan. 23 in the chapel of Crossville Memorial Funeral Home, with burial in Linary Cemetery.
He was born May 10, 1916, the son of Issac Roysdon and Minnie Maude Nelson Roysdon.
Survivors include his sons and daughter-in-law, Harvey Wayne Roysdon of Tuscaloosa, AL, and Roger and Ann Roysdon of Maryville, TN; daughters and sons-in-law, Kay and James Whiteaker, and Faye and Terry Manning, all of Crossville, Opal and Randy Craig of Lenior, NC, Thelma and James Goolsby of Tuscaloosa, AL, and Lottie McLean of Chattanooga; and sisters, Belle Watson of Revlo, KY, and Mary Macel Slaven of Crossville.

Mrs. Parrott was a nurse for many years at Monterey Hospital until its closing in 1972. She finished her nursing career at Cookeville Manor Nursing Home. Until her illness, she was an active member of Monterey First Baptist Church.

He was born Nov. 9, 1947 in Lawrenceburg, TN, the son of Grace Massey Denson of Nashville, and the late Rev. Charles Elwood Denson.

Dr. Denson was a graduate of Cumberland County High School, Martin Methodist College, Lambuth College and Southern School of Optometry. He practiced optometry for 24 years in Columbia. He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Columbia, the Friendship Bible Class, and served on many boards. He served as president of the Maury County Cancer Society, chairman of Maury County Chapter of the American Red Cross, and he was a member of Kappa Alpha Order. He was past president of the Kiwanis Club of Columbia, and he was recently presented the George F. Hixon Fellowship Award in recognition of his significant contribution and commitment to the club.

Survivors include his wife, Kathie Corn Denson of Columbia; sons, Lane Denson of Nashville, and Clark Denson of Columbia; daughter, Molly Denson of Columbia; mother, Grace Massey Denson of Nashville; sister, Debra Lloyd of Nashville; several uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces and nephews; and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Dick and Gene Wilkins Corn of Columbia.

Funeral services for Robert M. "Rob" Wright, 93, of Gordonsville, TN, who passed away Feb. 1, 1999, were held today, Feb. 3, from the Carthage, TN, chapel of Sanderson Funeral Home, with burial in Smith County Memorial Gardens.

He was born July 25, 1905 in the Sykes community of Smith County, the son of Lela Reasonover Wright and Robert Marion Wright Sr.

Mr. Wright was a retired farmer, and he was a graduate of Carthage High School. He was a member of Carthage Church of Christ. He married Anna Thelma Morris on Nov. 2, 1930. Mrs. Wright, a well-known educator, preceded Mr. Wright in death on July 17, 1994.

Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Roger Thackston of Crossville; sister, Mary Helen Apple of Livingston, TN; brothers, Carmack and Coleman Wright, both of Carthage, and Dewitt Wright of Lebanon; and two grandchildren.
