Mr. Baur grew up in India, where he attended the Mt. Hermon School in Darjeeling. Upon his return to the United States, he received his undergraduate degree from Elmhurst College in Illinois. He subsequently earned a bachelorŐs degree in divinity from Eden Seminary in Webster Groves, MO.
Mr. Baur and his wife served for eight years in Honduras under the former Evangelical and Reformed Church. In 196l, Mr. Baur returned from Honduras and became business manager of the Missionary Orientation Center in Stony Point, NY. In 1966, the Baurs went to India, where Mr. Baur worked for the United Church of Christ, first as a hospital administrator in Madhya Pradesh, and then as assistant treasurer of the Inter-Mission Business Office (IMBO) in Bombay. In 1974, the Baurs returned to the United States, and Mr. Baur worked until his retirement as an accountant in Pennsylvania.
He and his wife retired to Pleasant Hill in 1995, where he was active on various committees in the Uplands Retirement Community. He also provided service in the American Association of Retired PersonsŐ Volunteer Tax Aide program.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Baur is survived by son, Mark C. Baur of Northfield, MN; daughter, Deborah Baur Borpujari of Valencia, CA; three grandchildren; brother, Ralph J. Baur of New York; sisters, June E. Dewsberry of Missouri, and Ruth Williamson of Michigan; and 11 nieces and nephews.

He attended The First Methodist Church in Plymouth, and was a member of Rotary Clubs in Crossville and Farmington Hills, MI. In addition, he was a member of the Masonic Lodge in New York City. His interests included fine dining, golfing, photography and writing poetry.
