EDWARD KEAGLE
Funeral services for Edward Howard Keagle, 51, of Creston, who passed away Dec. 17, 1996, were conducted Thursday, Dec. 19 from the chapel of Bilbrey Funeral Home with interment at Green Acres Memory Gardens. Rev. Dennie Moore officiated.

Pallbearers were Tony Keagle, Jeff Keagle, Harold Keagle Jr., J.R. Keagle, D.C. Davis and Billy Shepherd. Mr. Keagle was born Aug. 30, 1945 in Crossville to Peter Keagle Jr. and wife Nora Ann Cox Keagle. He was a mechanic and of the Baptist faith.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Kenneth Keagle.

Survivors include his daughters, Cathleen Ann Barnes, Charlotte Keagle, and Jeannie Keagle, all of Crossville; brothers, Harold, Bill, Bob, David and Albert Keagle, all of Crossville; and sisters, Shirley Bradford of Nashville and Tracy Shelton of Crossville.

MARY AGNES SHERRILL
Funeral services for Mary Agnes Sherrill, 68, of Crossville, who passed away Tuesday, Dec. 17, were conducted Friday, Dec. 20 from the chapel of Bilbrey Funeral Home with interment at Haley's Grove Cemetery. Bro. Noble Wright officiated with special music by Mark Dvorak.

Pallbearers were Randall Sherrill; Alan Hale; Ray Dannel; James Boles; Donnie Melton; and Jamie Sherrill. Mrs. Sherrill was born May 23, 1928 in Rhea County to James Oliver and Julia Mae Burns Dannel. She was a homemaker and member of the Church of Christ.

She was preceded in death by her son, Donnie Lynn Sherrill; grandson, Michael Lee Sherrill; great grandson, Teddy Randall Sherrill; and sisters, Inez Underwood; Irene Godsey; and Edna Houston.

Survivors include her son, Edward Sherrill of Crossville; daughters, Margie Williams, Ruby Sherrill, both of Crossville and Ann Dvorak and husband, Mark of Fort Worth, Texas; 10 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; sisters, Sylvia Godsey and Mildred Thurman, both of Crab Orchard, Gladys Sherrill, Geralding Smith, Wilma Sherrill and Melba Gunter, all of Crossville; and brothers, Buddy Dannel of Rockwood, Kenneth Dannel of Crab Orchard and Calvin Dannel of Dogwood, Tenn.

Funeral services for Diane Walker, 43, of Crossville, who passed away Dec. 9, 1996, were conducted Wednesday, Dec. 11 from Crossville Memorial Chapel with interment at Allen Burgess Cemetery. Terry Barnwell and Bishop Adrian Varlack officiated.

Ms. Walker was born Sept. 7, 1953 in Crossville to the late Allen Burgess and Lillie Mae King Burgess. She was a factory worker.

She was preceded in death by her father, Allen Burgess, and brother, Burl Burgess.

Funeral services for Essie Mae Hodge, 79, or Pleasant Hill, who passed away Dec. 14, 1996, were conducted at Tuesday, Dec. 17 from the Chapel of Bilbrey Funeral Home with burial at Clifty Cemetery. Bro. Hollace Page officiated.

Mrs. Hodge was born June 13, 1917 in Putnam County to Tex and Minnie Hudson Tucker. She was a housewife.

Survivors include her nephew, Robert Tucker of Ohio; sisters-in-law, Elizabeth Tucker of Nashville, Liddie Tucker, Mary Hodge and Roxie Dunn, all of Pleasant Hill; and brother-in-law, Ellis Hodge of Pleasant Hill.

Funeral services for Melba Knox Smith, 65, of Spring City, who passed away Dec. 17, 1996, were conducted Thursday, Dec. 19 at Vaughn's Funeral Home of Spring City.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Whitley and Birdie Knox; and brothers, Ralph and Russell Knox. Survivors include son and daughter-in-law, Jimmy and Kathy Smith of Spring City; daughter and son-in-law, Deborah and Steve Wright of Rogersville; special friend, Hoyt Watkins of Spring City; five grandchildren; and sisters, Verna Jean Nail of Crossville and Virginia Jarvis of Grafton, Ohio.

FLORENCE ELIZABETH TURNER
Funeral services for Florence Elizabeth Turner, 94, of Crossville, who passed away Dec. 14, 1996, were conducted Tuesday, Dec. 17 from the chapel of Bilbrey Funeral Home with interment at Pomona Cemetery. Rev. Harvey Garrison officiated with special music by Velma Daugherty, Ralph England, Doris Smith and Dan Farris.

Pallbearers were Matt Turner, Wade England, Phillip Turner, Jason Napier, Clark Napier, Keith Turner, Kevin Turner and Michael England.

Mrs. Turner was born March 24, 1902 in Cumberland County to Samuel and Martha Kidwell Pace. She was a merchant and member of Pine Eden Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Claude Turner; sons, Cecil and Kenneth Turner; brothers, Jim, Claude and Oscar Pace; and sisters, Rebecca Patton, Mabel Hughes and Clara Seals.

Survivors include her daughter, Reba England of Crossville; sons, William Turner, John Turner and Red Turner, all of Crossville; 15 grandchildren; 15 great great-grandchildren; and sisters, Louella Fields, Willie Mae Roberts and Mary Wells, all of Crossville.

IDA LEE BELL
Funeral services for Ida Lee Bell, 72, of Monticello, Ky., who passed away Dec. 10, 1996, were conducted from First Baptist Church with interment at Elk Spring Cemetery in Monticello.

Ms. Bell was born April 14, 1924 in Monticello to Alvis and Sarah Bell. She was a retired teacher with the Wayne County Schools in Monticello and a member of the First Baptist Church.

Survivors include her sister, Grace Bell Denney of Monticello and nephew Mike Denney of Crossville. Hoyt Hickey Funeral Home of Monticello was in charge of the arrangements with Burris Funeral Home assisting.

Funeral services for Henry Lee Wyatt, 89, of Crossville, who passed away Dec. 13, 1996, were conducted 1 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 15 from the chapel of Bilbrey Funeral Home with interment at Pugh Cemetery. Bro. Junior Pugh officiated with special music by Molly and Bruce Wyatt.

Pallbearers were his grandsons: Charles E. Simmons, Gerald D. Wyatt, Anthony S. Wyatt, Dennis Wyatt, Jimmy Estes, David Pugh, Jimmy Dixon and Mirah Brown.

Mr. Wyatt was born Dec. 17, 1906 in Cumberland County to the late John D. and Susie Woody Wyatt. He was a coal miner.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Ruth Estes; father, John D. Wyatt; mother, Susie Woody Wyatt; brother, Hooper Wyatt; and sisters, Ona McCampbell and Eula James.

Survivors include his wife, Bernell Wyatt of Crossville; sons, Richard Simmons of Cookeville; Jake, Gerald, Howard, Paul and Frank Wyatt, all of Crossville, Powell and Jim Wyatt, both of Monterey and Hank Wyatt of Detroit, Mich.; daughters, Betty Cox, Brenda Brown and Norma Stover, all of Crossville, Sue Reed and Ann Phillips, both of Monterey, Freida Carmack of Fort Mills, S.C., Jeanette Sween of Port Charlotte, Fla., and Judy Nakandakare of Clinton; 32 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; sisters, Hazel Tabor; Georgia Buck and Addie Palmer; eight sons-in-law and six daughters-in-law.

MAUDE G. BALES
Funeral services for Maude G. Bales, 87, of Lake Tansi, who passed away Dec. 10, 1996, were conducted Friday, Dec. 13 from Robert D. Loose Funeral Home, south chapel, with interment at East Maplewood Cemetery. Dr. J. Philip Klinger officiated.

Mrs. Bales was born May 9, 1909. She was employed as a secretary in the engineering department of Delco Remy. She was a member of First United Methodist Church and several women's bridge groups. She volunteered for the YMCA. She had many avid interests including gardening, sawing, bird watching, fishing, camping, solving crossword puzzles and traveling. She was also active with her husband in the townhome community contributing to gardening and recreation projects and hosting annual Christmas parties. She was preceded in death by her son, Charles Edward Bales.

Survivors include her husband, Max G. Bales of Lake Tansi; son, David L. Bales of Shelby, Mich.; daughters, Virginia Bales Foland of Nashville and Margaret Bales Mullins of Pittsburgh, Penn.; grandchildren, Bryan Mullins of Washington, D.C., Scott Mullins of State College, Penn., Melanie Bales Hennessey of Palo Alto, Calif., Michelle Balee Boeve, Amanda Bales and Matthew Bales, all of Holland, Mich., and sister Elizabeth Bryant of Anderson.

Funeral services for Richard L. Cornish, 68, of Crossville, who passed away Saturday Dec. 14, 1996, were conducted Monday, Dec. 16 from the north chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home with interment at Hamilton Memorial Gardens. Rev. David Burris officiated. Mr. Cornish was a native of Chattanooga. He was retired from DuPont. He was a member of the Fidelity Masonic Lodge No. 558 F and AM.

Funeral services for Shirley "Granny" Galloway, 59, of Crossville, who passed away Friday Nov. 22, 1996, were conducted 1p.m. Saturday, Nov. 30 at Crossville Memorial Funeral Home with interment at Crossville City Cemetery. Rev. James W. Allen officiated.

Mrs. Galloway was an employee of Aristokraft and a member of Aristokraft's Perfect Attendance Club. She was a member of F.O.E. 2641 Womens Auxiliary of Fairborn, Ohio, and past president of the Friends of Blue Grass Helping Hands Club of Fairborn. She was of the Brethren in Christ Faith.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Jerry M. and Viola Wallace Proffitt; brothers, Norman Douglas, Jack Rodgers, Jerry Wayne and David Jr. Proffitt; sisters, Grace Ann and Hazel Proffitt Wells; and nephew, Bobby Lee Wells.

Survivors include her sons and daughters-in-law, Barnie Joe and Liz Galloway of Spokane, Wash.; and Jerry D. and Elsie Galloway of Crossville; one grandson, Glen E. Taylor of Crossville; three great grandchildren, Jessica D. and Joey B. Taylor and Makalla D. Rev. Grinder was born March 4, 1915 to John and Margaret Ann Roden Grinder. He was a minister and member of Apostolic United Pentecostal Church.

Mr. Johnson was born Sept. 4, 1950 in Monterey to Maxine Johnson Phillips.

Funeral Services for Elsie Dosch Smith, 94, of Fairfield Glade, who passed away Dec. 12, 1996, were conducted Saturday, Dec. 14 from Burris Funeral Home with interment at Ottawa Hills Memorial Park of Toledo, Ohio. Rev. Merlin Sepmeyer officiated.

Mrs. Smith was born July 7, 1902 in Germany to Wilhelm Bergmann and Lena (Fishcher) Bergmann Reigel. She was a member of Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church.

She was preceded in death by her brother, Erich Bergmann; grandson, David Gustin and son Raymond Dosch.

Survivors include her daughter, Eleanor Gustin of Fairfield Glade; son, Richard Dosch of Milbury, Ohio; 10 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.

GAITHER JAMES "TOBE" ADAMS
Funeral services for Gaither James "Tobe" Adams, 95, formerly of Crossville, who passed away Sept. 7, 1996, were conducted Wednesday, Sept. 11 at the Cloverdale Funeral Home. The Rev. Joseph Housh officiated with interment following at Terrace Lawn Memorial Gardens.

Mr. Adams was born May 24, 1901 in Crossville to Jim and Amanda Adams, Tennessee farmers and pioneers. He moved to Idaho with his wife and children in the early 1930s. He was a carpenter and building contractor. He loved hunting and fishing and visiting with his friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Ova; son, Wayland; four brothers; and a grandson, Scott Miller. Survivors include his daughters, Mrs. James, C.A. Tyke Carr, Mrs. Dewey, Maxine Weber, Mrs. Bernice Kennedy of Boise, Idaho, Mrs. Ethel Logan of Spokane, Wash., Mrs. Charles, Mary Jane Miller of Pacifica, Calif., and Mrs. Iris Housley of Lynnwood, Wash.; sons, Mr. Venable Adams and wide, Reiko, of Boise, and Mr. Glenn Adams and wife, Fonn, of Electric City, Wash.; sisters, Mrs. Zenia Hobson and Mrs. Clara Averill of Boise; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; great-great-grandchildren; nieces; and nephews.

Pallbearers were Bradley Miller, Mark Miller, Keith Miller, Danny Hatfield, Kevin Hatfield and Randy Bond. Mrs. Hatfield was born March 24, 1929 in Cumberland County to Monroe Joseph and Nellie Lyons Tabor. She was a housewife and member of Liberty Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her sister, Juanita Swanson.

Survivors include her husband, Glenn Hatfield of Crossville; daughter, Peggy Miller of Crossville; son, Daniel Hatfield of Crossville; five grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; sisters, Chris Bond and Linda White, both of Crossville; and brothers, C.M. Funeral services for James William Elmore, 67, of Crossville, who passed away Dec. 1, 1996, were conducted 10 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 4 from the chapel of Bilbrey Funeral Home with interment at Pomona Cemetery. Rev. Elmer Graham officiated.

Pallbearers were Mike Blaylock, Tim Graham, Todd Graham, Mike Taylor, Tim Hammons and Fred Parsons.

Mr. Elmore was born Oct. 16, 1929 in Cumberland County. He was road department employee for the State of Tennessee and was of the Baptist faith.

He was preceded in death by his son, Randy Elmore and wife, Helen Parsons Elmore.

Survivors include his daughters, Marsha Elmore and Cammie Elmore, both of Crossville; stepdaughters, Brenda Graham and Glenda Taylor, both of Crossville; six grandchildren; four brothers, Vaughn Blaylock; Linvil Blaylock and Wayne Blaylock, all of Crossville and Boyd Blaylock of Chicago, Ill.; sisters, Mary Hubbard and Judy Blevins, both of Crossville and Joyce Irwin of Chicago.

RONALD M. FARRIS
Funeral services for Ronald Marvin Farris, 52, of Crossville, who passed away Dec. 1, 1996, were conducted 1 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 4 from the Pomona Methodist Church with interment at Pomona Cemetery. Rev. Bob Winger officiated with special music by the church choir.

Mr. Farris was born Dec. 29, 1943 in Crossville to Marion and Mae Cox Farris. He was a mechanic and of the Methodist faith.

Survivors include his wife, Carolyn Farris of Crossville; daughters, Anita Wood; Tina Farris and Lisa Burgess, all of Crossville; grandchildren, Michael and Samuel Wood, both of Crossville; brother, Donald Farris of Crossville; sister, Reba Miller of Crossville and mother, Mae Farris of Crossville.

DOROTHY A. GALBREATH
Funeral services for Dorothy A. Galbreath, 84, of Fairfield Glade, who passed away Dec. 7, 1996, will be 1p.m. Friday, Dec. 13 from Frain Mortuary of Winamac, Ind., with interment at Winamac Cemetery. Rev. Ned Gillum will officiate.

Mrs. Galbreath was born Dec. 22, 1911 in Winamac to Henry J. and Anna M. Snyder Link. She married the late John C. Passmore in 1931 in Knox, Ind. She later married Chester E. Galbreath, who passed away April 21, 1985. She was a homemaker, member of First Christian Church of Winamac and Christian Women's Fellowship of Church and former employee of Pulaski Memorial Hospital of Winamac. She lived most her life in Winamac, but resided in Fairfield Glade for several years.

She was preceded in death by her brothers, Richard Link and Raymond Link; sons, Ward Passmore and Ron Passmore; and daughter, Jacqueline Passmore.

Survivors include her daughter, Beverly Joyce Ballard of Fairfield Glade; step daughters, Betty Kloenne of Logansport, Ind., Shirley Howard, of Winamac, and Myra Jordan of Star City, Ind.; step sons, Don Galbreath of Winamac and John Galbreath of Kewanna, Ind.; six grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; 18 step grandchildren; 12 step great-grandchildren; and sisters-in-law, Myrtle Link Hutchens, Thelma Link, and Ruby Wilke, all of Winamac.

Funeral services for John Michael Hodge, 83, of Pleasant Hill, who passed away Dec. 2, 1996, were conducted 10 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 5 from the chapel of Bilbrey Funeral Home with interment at Clifty Cemetery. Bro. Hollace Page officiated.

Pallbearers were Clyde England, Wayne Blankenship, Kirk Dunn, Dale Dunn, Don Hale and Steve Wightman.

Mr. Hodge was born Sept. 18, 1913 in Clifty, Tenn., to Levi and Fannie Cooley Hodge. He was a laborer and member of the Church of Christ. He served with the U.S. Army during World War II.

He was preceded in death by his brothers, Oliver and Jessie Hodge.

Mrs. Orme was born Jan. 15, 1905 in Cumberland County to Ike and Ollie Campbell Burgess. She was a homemaker and of the Methodist faith.

She was preceded in death by her brothers, Frank and Tommy Burgess; sisters, Many Swafford, Lorene Burgess and Baby Girl Burgess.

Survivors include her sons, Bob Orme and Charlie Orme, both of Crossville; daughters, Violet Sikes of Nashville and Mary Coats of Memphis; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; sisters, Cora Kerley and Mertie Nail, both of Crossville, Nellie Houston and Fannie Walton, both of Ohio; and brother, Bill Burgess of Ohio.

Funeral services for Albert Battistoli, 75, of Crossville, who passed away Dec. 3, 1996, were conducted 1 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 4 from Burris Funeral Home with interment at Mt. Zion Cemetery. Rev. Dan Haskins officiated. A Masonic service was held 8 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 3.

Mr. Battistoli was born Oct. 4, 1921 in Pennsylvania. He was a member of Homestead Baptist Church. He was a retired teacher and member of the Crossville Lodge No. 483, Scottish Rite.

Survivors include his wife Winnie Battistoli of Crossville; son, Albert Terry Battistoli of Lubbock, Texas; brother, Joe Battistoli of Elizabethtown, Kan.; and three grandchildren.

Memorial services for Scott E. Elliott of Sparta, who passed away Nov. 29, 1996 in an auto accident in South Bay, Fla., will be conducted at Christ Church of Ridley Park, Penn.

Mr. Elliott was the son of the late Edna and Ernest Elliott. He was a machine operator for Swallows Produce and a member of Christ Church of Ridley Park.

She was a Past Worthy Patron of Chapter No. 230, Order of the Eastern Star in Parker City, Ind., of which she had the privilege of serving as Worthy Matron; former member of Selma Women's Club and member of S.O.S.; an active member of the Methodist Women's Club in Selma and Syracuse; and a former secretary of Goshen No. 397 Q.E.S. Goshen.

She was preceded in death by her parents Leamont and Ina Gilmore Bird; and sisters, Felma Bird and Cletis Miller.

Survivors include her son, Earl Grove of Fairfield Glade; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and one step great-grandchild.

Ada McNeal, 88, of Crossville, passed away Nov. 27, 1996 at Cumberland Medical Center. She was born Sept. 26, 1908 in Monterey to Thomas and Etta Buttram King. Mrs. McNeal was a factory worker and member of the Nazarene Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles McNeal. Survivors include her daughters, Barbara Franklin and husband, O.W., of Crossville, and Helen C. Ball of Rockingham, N.C.
