Lucinda Allen
1909-2005

Lucinda Allen, a 25-year Crossville resident, was born in 1909 to Harry and Margaret Ehrhardt Rabuck in Coreopolis, PA, one of four children. She married Corbett U. Allen of North Carolina in 1933 and after the births of their son and daughter, started their life of travel. Ashville, KY, Galveston, TX, Texas City, TX, Enid, OK, Duncan, OK, Gary, IN, Shawnee Mission, KS, Algeria, Yugoslavia, Australia and Canada were their homes before retiring in Crossville.
Mrs. Allen became a prominent figure in the community as a member of the Methodist Church choir and Bible study, Fellowship Sunday school at First United Methodist Church, the senior center, Art Guild, garden club, bridge clubs and various community campaigns such as getting local businesses to support Christmas decorations for Main Street.
She received an award from the city of Crossville for outstanding service to the community. It was said of her, "If something needs doing, give it to Lucinda."
She left Crossville four years ago to be near her son, "Bud," and finished her travels in Wilton, CT, with her daughter a year ago.
Survivors include her daughter, "Peg" Lucinda Lynch of Connecticut; granddaughters, Allison Juchniewich, Eliabeth Allen Williams Smith and Ann Margaret Allen Levingston; and 10 great-grandchildren.
In addition to Corbett Allen, her husband of 62 years, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Leroy Rabuck of Ohio, Harold Rabuck of Florida and J.C. Rabuck of Texas; son, Corbett U. Allen Jr. of Houston, TX; and granddaughters, Rebecca and Rachael Kinney.
A memorial service will be conducted Saturday, March 5, at First United Methodist Church in Crossville, with a 10 a.m. fellowship and 11 a.m. service.

Jacob L. Raney
April 8, 1934 - Feb. 21, 2005

Jacob L. "Les" Raney, 70, passed away peacefully at his home in Boca Raton on Monday, Feb. 21, 2005.
Born in Troy, Missouri on April 8, 1934 to Earl and Ruby Taylor Raney, he married Harriet Hunter, his childhood sweetheart. He attended the University of Missouri, then accepted early admission to Tulane Medical School, briefly serving as a medical officer in the U.S. Army. They moved to Montana where Dr. Raney was a successful general practitioner for six years.
The family moved to Miami where he completed his residency in orthopedic surgery. Dr. Les Raney was highly respected at Boca Raton Community Hospital where his wife, Harriet Raney, RN, would often assist him during arthroscopic surgeries.
His beloved wife Harriet preceded him in death on February 20, 2002. He was also preceded by his son, Michael Edward Raney.
He is survived by his devoted son, Laurence Hunter Raney, MD and his wife Geraldine of Charleston, SC; and loving daughter, Ellen Marie Raney, MD of Honolulu, HI; four sisters, Esther Marie Fetterhoff, Sherry Jean Kuntz, Peggy Timmons and Joyce Hopkins.
Funeral services will begin at 3 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 26, at St. Gregory's Episcopal Church.

Willie A. P. Garrett
May 7, 1918 - Feb. 21, 2005

Willie Aline Phillips Garrett, 86, of Troy, OH, formerly of Mayland, passed away Feb. 21, 2005. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Friday, Feb. 25, from the chapel of Crossville Memorial Funeral Home, with burial in Mayland Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6-9 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 24, at the funeral home.
Mrs. Garrett was born May 7, 1918 in Mayland, the daughter of Art and Mary Phillips.
She was a member of Mayland Missionary Baptist Church and also the Mayland Community Center. She was retired from Cumberland Medical Center where she worked in housekeeping.
Survivors include her grandchildren, Scott and Nancy Garrett and Deneen Garrett, all of Sidney, OH; great-grandchildren, Nathanael and Nick Garrett of Sidney, OH; nieces, Helen Hall of Mayland, Gwynne Bohannon of Crossville and Betty Angel of Chattanooga, TN; and other relatives, friends and former co-workers.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Claude Garrett, whom she married in 1937; sons, Ted and Tommy; brothers, Horace and Ernest; and sister, Laura Welch.

Sandra K. Green
Nov. 10, 1960 - Feb. 14, 2005

Sandra Kay Green, 44, of Crossville, passed away Feb. 14, 2005. A memorial service was conducted Feb. 18 from the chapel of Bilbrey Funeral Home, with Bro. David Dalton officiating. Burial was in Shady Grove Cemetery in Coffee County.
Ms. Green was born Nov. 10, 1960 in Jacksonville, FL, the daughter of Raymond Max Miller and Sharon Young Miller.
She was a waitress and a member of the Church of Christ.
Survivors include her daughters, Sharon Green and Billie Green of Crossville; son, James Spears of Crossville; granddaughters, Starrlett and Shy-Anne Green of Crossville; parents, Sharon and Raymond Miller of Crossville; and brother, Bill Miller of Crossville.

Patrick M. Kosnik
March 13, 1933 - Feb. 17, 2005

Patrick Michael Kosnik, 71, of Fairfield Glade, passed away Feb. 17, 2005. Memorial services were conducted Feb. 21 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, with the Rev. Gregory Neuzil officiating. Burial was in St. Francis of Assisi Columbarium, with Honor Guard providing military honors of presentation of the flag, firing detail and "Taps."
Mr. Kosnik was born March 13, 1933 in Detroit, MI, the son of Anestazy and Angeline Gorzenski Kosnik.
He was an electrical engineer for General Dynamics and was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church. He served in the U.S. Air Force and was a member of the Knights of Columbus.
Survivors include his dear and loving friend, Wanda Petrocy of Fairfield Glade; son and daughter-in-law, Christopher and Courtney Kosnik of Warren, MI; three grandchildren; son-in-law, Joseph Fischer of Dublin, MI; brothers and sisters-in-law, Leonard and Irene Kosnik of West Bloomfield, MI, Anthony and Peggy Kosnik of Huntington Woods, MI, Bernard and Louise Kosnik of Warren, MI, Florian and Emmy Kosnik of Warren, MI and Ted and Ilene Kosnik of Tyler, TX; and sisters and brothers-in-law, Angeline Gaffigan of Peoria, IL, Ann and Jerry Jenosky of Macomb Township, MI and Dorothy and Benjamin Stapel of Dearborn, MI.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Patrice Fischer; and brothers, Joseph, Paul, John Richard and Edmund Kosnik.

Harvey K. Waters
Nov. 12, 1923 - Feb. 1, 2005

Harvey Kenneth Waters, 81, of Fairfield Glade, passed away Feb. 1, 2005. Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. on March 2 at Christ Lutheran Church in Fairfield Glade. Pastor Jerry Weeks will be officiating.
Mr. Waters was born Nov. 12, 1923, in Laurium, MI, the son of Harvey W. and Gladys Cowan Waters.
He was retired as vice president and general manager of Allied Signal in Harvey, IL. He was a charter member of Christ Lutheran Church in Fairfield Glade and was an Army veteran having served during World War II. He was also a Boy Scout in which he was very active and a member of the Lions Club. He had many hobbies and favorite pastimes, including woodworking and traveling worldwide.
Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Annette Waters of Fairfield Glade; son, Harvey J. Water of Mobile, AL; daughter and son-in-law, Randi E. and Randolph Mobley of Franklin; brothers, Dale Waters of Lake Linden, MI and Jerry Waters of California; sisters, Marjorie Fagan and Judith Stokfisz, both of Detroit, MI; grandson and wife, Kenneth and Karen Mobley; and granddaughter, Lauren Mobley.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Dean Waters.

Roy E. Aytes

Roy Eli Aytes, 64, of the Frankfort community, passed away Feb. 20, 2005. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 23, at 11 a.m. from the chapel of Schubert Funeral Home of Wartburg, with the Rev. Bryant Padgett officiating. Interment will follow in Frankfort Cemetery.
Mr. Aytes was born Jan. 3,1941 in the Frankfort community, the son of Ronald and Rebecca (Potter) Aytes.
Survivors include his wife of 25 years, Lillie (Hall) Aytes; sons, James Aytes of the Frankfort community and Steven Aytes of Detroit, MI; daughter, Rhonda Aytes of Michigan; eight grandchildren and two very special grandchildren, Chelsey Lynn and Gabriel Eli; very special nephew (son) Jimmy Aytes; sisters, Gertrude Lowe of Indiana, Alice Herr of Indiana and Mabel Phillips of Lancing; brothers, Leonard, Pete and Jay, all of Frankfort; and a host of nieces and nephews, and other family members and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Wanda Blakely; and brother, Reed Aytes.

Sara A. Finnell
Dec. 17, 1930

Funeral services for Sara Alice Finnell were conducted Feb. 21 from the chapel of Crest Lawn Funeral Home of Cookeville. Burial followed at Crest Lawn Memorial Cemetery. Brother Charlie Hutchinson of First Baptist officiated.
Mrs. Finnell was born Dec. 17, 1930, in Tupelo, MS, to the late Rex and Lucy Burns. After a career as wife and mother in Tupelo, she resumed her undergraduate studies at Memphis State University, graduating with a degree in psychology in 1972. After moving to Cookeville with her husband, Dr. William S. Finnell, she continued her education at Tennessee Technological University, receiving her master's degree in Guidance and Counseling in 1974, with additional post-graduate work at Middle Tennessee State University. She then earned her license as a psychological examiner in clinical psychology.
Mrs. Finnell began her professional career at Tennessee Tech and Cumberland University, holding faculty and counseling positions. In 1987, she established the Therapeutic Behavior Center in Cookeville. In her private practice, she guided hundreds of clients through the crises of their lives, counseling individuals and groups in personal difficulties ranging from substance abuse to marital problems. Mrs. Finnell's special interest, and the focus of many of her public and private efforts, was guiding women through the unique problems they face as the role of women in our society and culture changes dramatically. She believed strongly that each person she met had great value, and she worked to impart that belief to each client. Her activities with local industries and clubs were designed to empower each of us to have a safe, happy, productive and fulfilling life.
Survivors include her husband, Dr. William S. Finnell; sons and daughters-in-law, Barry and Sandra Spearman of Monterey and David and Jeannette Spearman of Tupelo; stepson and wife, David and Linda Finnell of London, England; stepdaughter and husband, JoAnne and Art Peters of Dayton, Ohio; grandchildren, Amber Spencer (Steven), Blake Spearman (Suzanne) and Christina Spearman, all of Tupelo, and Shane Finnell (Angela) and Nathan Finnell of Columbia, SC; great-granddaughters, Rachel Spencer and Isabella Spearman of Tupelo; brothers, James E. Burns (Ellie) of Moss Point, MS and Robert Burns of Memphis; nieces and their families, Arleen Pettus of Brandon, MS, and Doris Cloud of the Woodlands, Texas.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Finnell was preceded in death by her sister, Elizabeth Stubbs of New Orleans.

Daphne D. Cunningham

Daphne Darlene King Cunningham, 40, of Crossville, passed away Feb. 12, 2005. Funeral services were conducted Feb. 14 from the chapel of Bilbrey Funeral Home, with burial in Old Union Cemetery, Dunlap, TN. The Rev. Brian Smith and the Rev. Randy Maxwell officiated.
Mrs. Cunningham was born July 31, 1964 in Harriman, the daughter of Don and Patsy Bardill King.
She was a certified nurse technician and of the Baptist faith. She loved to garden and had enjoyed teaching Sunday school to little ones.
Survivors include her husband, Taylor Cunningham of Crossville; daughter, Jennifer King Cunningham of Crossville; mother, Patsy King of Crossville; sister, Patti Laxton of Harriman; niece and nephew, Misty Laxton of Harriman and David Laxton of Rockwood; mother-in-law, Ella Bridges of Crossville; uncle and aunt, Ed and Rita Bardill of Knoxville; cousin, Andreas Bardill of Bristol, CT; and special great-aunt and -uncle, Jane and Ken Fus of Rockwood.
She was preceded in death by her son, Walter (Walt Walt) Cunningham; and father, Don King.

Emma Embry

Emma Embry, 82, of Crossville, passed away Feb. 7, 2005. Funeral services were conducted Feb. 10 from the chapel of Bilbrey Funeral Home, with burial in Thomas Springs Cemetery. Bro. Leslie Hickey officiated, with special music by the Smith Family.
Mrs. Embry was born Aug. 8, 1922 in Bledsoe County, the daughter of Gaither and Mary H. Angel Lawson.
She had been a cook and was a member of Vandever Baptist Church. She was a member of the Eastern Star.
Survivors include her beloved son, Hugh Embry of Crossville; brother, W.T. Lawson; sister, Ollie Lewis of Crossville; and 35 nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Hugh Embry Sr.; brothers, Willard, Lee, Olen, Homer and Fred Lawson; and sister, Ethel Tucker.

Richard John Kontour, 52, of Crossville, passed away Feb. 8, 2005. A memorial service was held Feb. 11 from the chapel of Bilbrey Funeral Home, with Bro. Mike Kerley officiating.
Mr. Kontour was born Dec. 9, 1952 in Southfield, MI, the son of Richard Lee Kontour and Jackalyn Cook Kontour.
He was a roofer.

Robert B. Lay
March 29, 1924 - Feb. 10, 2005

Robert Burton Lay, 80, of Crossville, passed away Feb. 10, 2005. Funeral services were conducted Feb. 13 at the First Baptist Church of Crossville. Dr. James E. Ross, son-in-law, and Dr. C. David Wilkerson, pastor, were the officiating ministers.
Mr. Lay was born March 29, 1924 in Oneida, TN, the son of Arlie M. and Orange W. Lay.
He was a retired banker and a veteran of World War II, having served in the Army Air Corps. He was a member of the First Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Nola J. Lay of Crossville; daughters and son-in-law, Ann L. and Jim Ross of Madison, GA; Margaret O. Lay of Morristown, Jill C. Lay of Crossville and Rachel L. Lay of Rockwood; sons and daughter-in-law, Jeffrey H. Lay of Nashville and Joel R. and Nina Lay of Kingston; seven grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and brothers and sisters-in-law, Allyn M. and Cynthia Lay of Columbia, Jack M. and Sue Lay of Oneida and John C. and Linda Lay, also of Oneida.

William H. Cook
Feb. 15, 2005

William "Bill" Henry Cook, 88, of Crossville, passed away Feb. 15, 2005 at Brighton Gardens Nursing Center in Greenville, SC. Family members will have a private memorial service.
Mr. Cook was born and raised in San Diego, CA, and left there shortly before World War II to work in the aerospace industry in Nashville.
He married Juanita (Nita) Houk, raised two sons and lived in Nashville until he retired to Crossville in 1981.
He was an avid fisherman turned golfer turned gardener in his later years and had many good friends in his community of Lake Tansi and in Crossville.
In his later years, he especially enjoyed his lake property, where he spent many hours planting and grooming his garden.
Survivors include his son, G. Clay Cook; daughter-in-law, Nancy; two granddaughters and their spouses; and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Nita.
Cremation Society of South Carolina was in charge of the arrangements.

Randall S. Templeton
Nov. 18, 1911 - Feb. 13, 2005

Randall Smith Templeton, 93, of Crossville, passed away Feb. 13, 2005. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 16, from the chapel of Hunter Funeral Home of Sparta, with burial in Highland Cemetery. Fate Wilson will officiate.
Mr. Templeton was born Nov. 18, 1911 in White County, the son of Elijah and Lyda Templeton.
He was a farmer.
Survivors include his sister, Ruth Lance of Nashville; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ada Billings Templeton.

Elsie Christine Fields, 75, of Crossville, passed away Feb. 10, 2005. Funeral services were conducted Feb. 13 from the chapel of Crossville Memorial Funeral Home, with burial in Fields Family Cemetery. Leslie Hickey and Phil Jenkins officiated.
Mrs. Fields was born April 23, 1929 in Bledsoe County, the daughter of Homer and Lennis Kerley Payne.
She was a homemaker and of the Church of Christ faith.
Survivors include her son, Harliss Fields; daughter-in-law, Becky Fields; grandchildren, Bradley Fields, Sandra Fields and Crystal Fields Bruce; great-grandchildren, Cody Fields, Brandi Bruce and Bradley Bruce; and sister, Dorothy Lyles.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Georgia Fields; sister, Haseltine Tucker; and brothers, Robert, Homer and Elbert Payne.
Pallbearers were Harliss Fields, Bradley Fields, Calvin Bruce, Eugene McDaniel, Steve Lyles and Cody Fields.

Addison Herring
Dec. 13, 1924 - Feb. 9, 2005

Addison "Red" Herring, 80, of Crossville, passed away Feb. 9, 2005. Funeral services were conducted Feb. 11 from the chapel of Crossville Memorial Funeral Home, with Arlon Way and John Mabry officiating.
Mr. Herring was born Dec. 13, 1924 in Charlottsville, VA, the son of Archie and Beulah Wilkerson Herring.
He was retired from Dupont in Richmond, VA, where he also owned and operated a golf course. He was a gospel preacher for 35 years and served as a missionary in India. He was a member of the Lantana Church of Christ and also served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Marie Allen Herring of Crossville; son and daughter-in-law, Randy and Kim Herring of Crossville; daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and Jeff Richards of Chattanooga; grandchildren, Hogan Herring, Jordan Herring and Adam Martin; and brother, Wiley Herring of Philadelphia, PA.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Archie and Beulah Wilkerson Herring.

Lovie T. H. Johnson
May 25, 1909 - Feb. 9, 2005

Lovie T. Hamilton Johnson, 95, of Crossville, formerly of Kingston, passed away Feb. 9, 2005. Funeral services were conducted Feb. 12 from the chapel of Biereley-Hale Funeral Home of Madisonville, TN, with the Rev. James Atkins and the Rev. Gerald Atkins officiating. Interment was in Sunset Cemetery.
Mrs. Johnson was born May 25, 1909 in Tellico Plains, TN, the daughter of Thomas M. and Ellen Hamilton.
She was a retired public school teacher after having taught special education in the Roane County School System for several years. She was a graduate of the University of Tennessee.
Survivors include her nieces, Carolyn Slack of Delaware, OH, Mary Morton of Townsend, Phyllis Pitz of Akron, OH and Joyce Davis of Ohio; nephews, Fred J. Ingram of Crossville, Bob Ingram of Madisonville and Benny Davis of Louisville, KY; and several great-nieces and -nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charlie Johnson.

Luther K. Melton
Oct. 7, 1948 - Feb. 10, 2005

"Duce" Luther K. Melton, 56, of Mayland, passed away Feb. 10, 2005. Funeral services were conducted Feb. 12 from the chapel of Goff Funeral Home of Monterey. The Rev. Walt Phillips officiated, with interment in the Mayland Cemetery.
Mr. Melton was born Oct. 7, 1948 in Mayland, to Luther E. and Freda Custred Melton.
He was a heavy equipment operator.
Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Daren and Sherry Melton of Monterey; sisters, Jimmie Sisco and Janice Evans of Crossville; and step-granddaughter, Emily.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Joan Reeves and Joyce Melton.

Jeliben G. Patel
June 25, 1931 - Feb. 8, 2005

Jeliben Govindbhai Patel, 73, of Crossville, passed away Feb. 8, 2005. Funeral services were conducted Feb. 10 from the chapel of Crossville Memorial Funeral Home, with Shri Yashodhar Bhatt officiating.
Mrs. Patel was born June 25, 1931 in India.
She was a homemaker.

The Rev. Ralph Eugene Patterson, 79, of Knoxville, formerly of Rockwood, passed away Feb. 11, 2005. A Masonic service will be held at 8 p.m. EST Wednesday, Feb. 16, from the chapel of Evans Mortuary of Rockwood. Funeral services will follow with the Rev. Jerry Lester and the Rev. Tim Shelton officiating. Graveside service and interment will be held at 11 a.m. EST Thursday, Feb. 17, from the Roane Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at Evans Mortuary Wednesday from 6-8 p.m.
The Rev. Patterson has pastored many churches in Cumberland, Roane, Loudon and Knox counties. He was a member of the Pond Grove Baptist Church in Rockwood; a member of Rockwood Lodge #403 F&AM; and served in the U.S. Army Infantry in World War II.
Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Trula Clabough Patterson of Knoxville; daughters, Judy Patterson Fleeger of Knoxville and Ina Patterson Gilbert of Clinton; grandchildren, Wendy McCown of Suffolk, VA, Chasity Wiggs of Knoxville and Jason Gilbert of Clinton; great-grandchildren, Elaine, Rachel, Becca, Emily, Victoria, Sydney, Dillon, Devin and Dalton; and sisters, Otella Cliff, Janice Cooper and Sue Mays, all of Knoxville.

Clyde Lee Smith, 81, of Crossville, passed away Feb. 10, 2005. Funeral services were conducted Feb. 12 from the chapel of Crossville Memorial Funeral Home, with burial in Davis Cemetery in Vandever. Leslie Hickey and Hank Jones officiated.
Mr. Smith was born Jan. 16, 1924 in Bledsoe County, the son of Floyd and Lola Smith.
He was retired from Crossville Rubber Plant and also served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include his wife, Virginia Brewer Smith of Crossville; son and daughter-in-law, Dexter and Carol Smith of Crossville; daughter and son-in-law, Debbie and Bob Wilson of Crossville; grandchildren, Shannon Smith, Chip Simmons and Amy Reed of Crossville, Shelly Gibson of Knoxville, Stephanie Wilson, Bratcher Wilson and Michael Wilson of Crossville; and nine great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by eight brothers and sisters.

Flossie Ovella Walker, 91, of Pikeville, passed away Jan. 24, 2005. Funeral services were conducted Jan. 25 from the chapel of Pikeville Funeral Home, with burial in Brushy Cemetery. The Rev. Marty Goins officiated.
Mrs. Walker was born Sept. 14, 1913 in Bledsoe County, the daughter of Sallie Walker and Robert (Bob) Swafford.
She was a long-time operator of the Sequatchie Slaughter House. She was a member of Shady Vale Church of God.
Survivors include her sons, James Everett, Donnie (Peggy) and Wendell Walker, all of Pikeville, Tommy (Teresa) and Phillip (Shirley) Walker of Crossville; 10 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and aunts, Gracie Gilbert of Portersville, CA and Edna Warner of Crossville.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Buck Walker.

Homer Frisbie Clark, 93, of Pleasant Hill, passed away Feb. 6, 2005. Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 12, at Pleasant Hill Community Church, with the Rev. Tom Warren officiating.
Mr. Clark was born March 25, 1911 , the son of Homer J. and Mabel Frisbie Clark. He lived and worked in Washington for 26 years where he retired as a safety engineer with the U.S. Department of Transportation. He was a U.S. Navy veteran, having served during World War II. He was also a member of the Pleasant Hill Community Church, president of the Washington chapter of Safety Engineers and a member of Phi Delta Theta at Iowa State University. He was an avid golfer and tennis player and loved to travel.
Survivors include his wife, Frances Clark of Pleasant Hill; daughters, Catherine Clark Eaton of Durango, CO, Jean Clark Gantzer of Monterey and Mary Clark Jeter of Richmond, VA; grandchildren, Elizabeth Eaton Strobel, Kenneth Francis Eaton, Christopher A. Mr. Hawke was born Nov. 9, 1922, in Detroit, MI, the son of Allen Edward and Florence Eliza Moss Hawke.
He was an owner of Hawke Tool and Engineering and was a U.S. Marine veteran, having served during World War II. He was also a member of First United Methodist Church in Clarkston, MI, a lifetime member of the Elks and a member of the Masonic Lodge. He was an avid pilot who loved to fly and also loved to RV.
Survivors include his wife, Jo Hawke of Crossville; son, Dr. Jeffrey E. Hawke of Denver, CO; daughters and son-in-law, Jody Irene Hawke of Long Beach, CA and Julie Susan and Ronald Honeycutt of Madison, TN; brother and sister-in-law, Allen W. and Marianna Hawke of Tampa, FL; and grandchildren, Ethan Everett Honeycutt and Allisa Arra Honeycutt.

He was a past Master Mason of Lodge 766 in 1962 in Buffalo, NY, former chairman of the United Way in Olean, NY, an active member of the Telephone Pioneers and a member of the Lions Club. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy aboard the escort carrier <I>USS Shamrock Bay<I> during World War II, Atlantic and Pacific campaigns, and also served during the Korean War.

He was a loving father, grandfather and friend and was very involved in Alcoholics Anonymous.

She was an optician who worked in Nashville, Knoxville, Oak Ridge and Crossville and was a member of St. Alphonsus Catholic Church in Crossville.

She worked for many years at Ucanaco Candy Company in Davenport and she also worked as a waitress and cook for the Model Dairy Fountain Room in Davenport.

A native of Crossville, TN, Mrs. Hale was a retired property manager. A loving wife and mother, she was always active in all her children's activities.
She is survived by her husband, Billy G. Hale; her daughter and son-in-law, Cathy and Rodney Theriot of Covington, GA; her son and daughter-in-law, Jeff and Lori Hale of Marietta; and four grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Feb. 5 at the H.M. Patterson & Son Canton Hill Chapel, with Dr. Albert E. Clarke officiating. Interment followed at Pine Ridge Memorial Park.

Alfred (Terry) Terrance Heyns, 64, of Monterey, passed away Jan. 29, 2005. Funeral services were conducted Feb. 2 from the chapel of Bilbrey Funeral Home, with burial at Green Acres Memory Gardens. Bro. Dan Hively and Bro. Roger Selby officiated, with special music by Betty Hartley.
Mr. Heyns was born May 15, 1940 in Ft. Lauderdale, FL, the son of William Petsch Heyns Sr. and Luanna Pearl Davis Heyns Darwin.
He was an educator for the Broward County School System in Ft. Lauderdale, FL, and a member of the Nazarene Church. He also served in the U.S. Army in Korea during Vietnam.
Survivors include his wife, Carol Swim Heyns of Monterey; sons, Kevin Michael Heyns of Knoxville and Bradley Jason Heyns of Spring City; daughters-in-law, Kim Heyns and Tammy Heyns; grandchildren, Joshua, Jared, Faith and Jessica; brothers, Dr. William P. Heyns Jr. of Kilgore, TX and Clifford Darwin of Mansfield, TX; sister, Carol Ann Darwin of Fort Worth, TX; and several cousins, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Pallbearers were Ken Steadman, Jerry Day, Norm Bonham, Chuck Hartley, Bryce Hartley and Ken Travis.

Lucas (Luke) Wayne Parks, 21, of Crossville, passed away Jan. 30, 2005. Funeral services were conducted Feb. 2 from the chapel of Bilbrey Funeral Home, with burial in Thomas Springs Cemetery. Bro. Paul Lee and Bro. Eliot Roberts officiated.
Luke was born Aug. 29, 1983 in Cumberland County, the son of Steven Wayne Parks and Dena Hubbard Parks Price.
He was a laborer and of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include his mother and stepfather, Dena and Carlos Price of Crossville; father and stepmother, Steve and Jennifer Parks of Crossville; sister, Samantha Parks of Crossville; stepbrothers, Tyler Davenport and Eli Tollett of Crossville; grandparents, Albert and Mary Hubbard of Crossville; and great-grandparents, Oma and Ross Hubbard of Crossville.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Mack and June Parks.

Willie Mae Stafford, 58, of Crossville, passed away Jan. 31, 2005. Funeral services were conducted Feb. 3 from the chapel of Bilbrey Funeral Home, with burial in Smith Chapel Cemetery in Jackson County, TN. Bro. Kenneth Young officiated, with special music by Loretta Hood and Charity Presley.
Mrs. Stafford was born Sept. 16, 1946 in Putnam County, the daughter of Lawrence and Beulah Blaylock McCloud.
She was a homemaker and of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include her daughters and sons-in-law, Vickie Lynn and Scott Allen Ray, Lisa Fae and Jerry Wayne Walker and Jennie Ray and Sherman Pelfrey, all of Crossville; grandchildren, Cody Stafford, Tiffani Lane, Chantel Walker, Sierra Ray and Brittany Ray; sisters, Shirley Stafford of Crossville, Betty Webb and Linda Allen, both of Cookeville; brothers, Billy and Dewayne McCloud of Cookeville; and boyfriend, Ernest McCloud of Cookeville.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James Ray Stafford; and daughter, Robin Michelle Stafford.

Orville A. Taber

Orville A. "Orrie" Taber, 79, of Riverside, OH, formerly of Crossville, passed away Jan. 23, 2005. Funeral services were conducted Jan. 29 at Newcomer Funeral Home of Ohio, with interment at Valley View Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Taber served our country in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He owned and operated Taber's Body Shop for over 40 years. He was Past Master of St. John's Masonic Lodge #13 and past president and long-time member of the Eagles Post 321.
Survivors include his loving wife of 55 years, Jane Taber; children, Patti Jackson and her husband, Larry, of Huber Heights, OH and Kit Taber of Jacksonville, FL; grandchildren, Eric Wilder and his wife, Buffi, Stephanie Cody and her husband, Chris, Toni and Michael Taber, Krisi Fisher and her husband, Spencer, Daniel Wells, Patrick Taber and Caitlin Bradley; great-grandchildren, Justin Cody and Lauren Fisher; sister, Ruby Brewer; and a host of other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, five sisters and two brothers.

Ethel Ruby (Key) Yeary, 96, of the Bitter Creek Community, Morgan County, passed away Feb. 2, 2005. Graveside services were held on Feb. 4 in Campground Cemetery (Fentress County), with Bro. Robert Laymance and Bro. Jim Phillips officiating.
Mrs. Yeary was born April 7, 1908 in Fentress County.
As long as her health permitted, she attended Boswell Chapel Baptist Church.
Survivors include her sons and daughters-in-law, Franklin and Mayme of Wartburg, Paul and Leslie of Bittercreek and Glen of the Bittercreek community; daughters and son-in-law, Judy and Jim Gibson of Bittercreek, Jackie Brown of Boswell Chapel and Charlotte and Wade Morgan of Chuckey, TN; several grandchildren, great- and great-great-grandchildren; brother, Coy Key of Dayton, OH; and sisters, Golda Stepp of Clarkrange, Evelyn Henry of Pikeville and Lois Roberts and husband Vernon of Wartburg.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Billy and Ida Key; husband, Andrew Yeary; son, C.E. (Ed) Yeary; and several brothers and sisters.

Mr. Davis was born Oct. 14, 1963 in Cumberland County, the son of Jackson Junior and April Cox Davis.
He was a painter and of the Baptist faith. He lived in California for 12 years, loved the outdoors and hunting and fishing.

Curtis Foch Rimmer, 85, of Crossville, passed away Jan. 28, 2005. Funeral services were conducted Jan. 29 from the chapel of Bilbrey Funeral Home, with Bro. Bratton Tucker and Bro. Boyd Roberts officiating. Special music was performed by nephew Ronald Rimmer of Knoxville, Reba Russell Reed of Crossville, and the Pomona United Methodist Church choir. Burial was in Pomona Cemetery on Jan. 30.
Mr. Rimmer was born Aug. 8, 1919, in Jefferson County, TN, the son of Claude and Flora Cox Rimmer.
He was retired and a member of the Pomona United Methodist Church. He also served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Ethel Denton Rimmer of Crossville; sons, Donald Curtis Rimmer and Jerry Rimmer of Crossville; daughter, Patricia Barker of Nashville; special nephews, Ricky and Roger Denton of Crossville; grandchildren, Missy (Mark) Sliger, Donna Rimmer, Tina Rimmer, Mike (Tammy) Rimmer, Sonya (Chris) Cole and Mary Ann (Rodney) Williams; great-grandchildren, Lauren Sliger, Cody Rimmer, Jessica LeAnn Rimmer and Dillon Rimmer Williams; brothers, J.W., Robert and Raymond Rimmer of Knoxville; and sisters, Agnes Kirby and Blanche Kenley of Knoxville.

Jacquelin S. Smith, 45, of Peru, IN, passed away Jan. 29, 2005. A memorial service was conducted Jan. 31 at Peru First Assembly of God Church in Peru, IN, with Pastor John Thomas officiating.
Mrs. Smith was born Nov. 2, 1959 in Pomeroy, OH, the daughter of Harold and Frances Teazis Dray.
She was married to Weston C. Smith on Sept. 20, 1987. She was a command and control technician with the 434th Air Refueling Wing at the Grissom Air Reserve Base. She is a United States Air Force veteran and her military decorations include the AF Training Ribbon, the AF Good Conduct Medal, the AF Longevity Service Award Ribbon and the AF Outstanding Unit Award Ribbon.
She was a member of the Peru First Assembly of God. She was a beloved wife and mother and thoroughly enjoyed reading, candle making, crocheting, gardening and politics. She was an active participant in the Diversity Program at Grissom Air Reserve Base.
Survivors include her husband, Weston C. Smith of Peru, IN; sons, Christopher McAndrews and his fiancée, Megan, of Indianapolis, IN and Bradley McAndrews of Ft. Wayne, IN; daughter, Jennifer Smith of Wabash, IN; brother, Jeff Gilliam and his wife, Sherri, of Mooresville, IN; father-in-law, J.W. Smith of Kokomo, IN; brother-in-law, Eric Smith and his wife, Jean, of Des Moines, IA; nieces, Stephanie Gilliam, Amanda Smith and Faith Smith; and nephews, Eric J. Smith and Austin Smith.
She was preceded in death by her parents.

Mrs. Prickett was born April 20, 1926, in Medford, Oregon, the daughter of Earl and Dorothy McLey Scripter.
She received her BA degree from Ohio University and was an elementary school teacher in Chillicothe, OH, for many years.
Survivors include her son, Dan Prickett of Atlanta, GA; daughter, Rebecca Prickett of Salem, OR; three grandchildren and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Delbert Prickett of Crossville, TN, in 2000.
