Frankie L. Lewis
Feb. 24, 1956 - Feb. 19, 2004
Frankie Lee Lewis, 47, of Crossville, passed away Feb. 19, 2004. Funeral services were conducted Feb. 21 from the chapel of Bilbrey Funeral Home, with burial in Lantana Cemetery. Bro. Ralph Reagan officiated, with special music by Brian Honeycutt.
Mr. Lewis was born Feb. 24, 1956 in Crossville, the son of Floyd T. and Janie Watson Lewis.
He was a custodian for the Davidson County School System and was of the Church of Christ faith.
Survivors include his brothers, George Lewis of Cincinnati, OH, Stevie Lewis of Crossville, Earl Bertram, Tommy Bertram and Jerry Bertram, all of Cincinnati, OH; and sister, Tina Simpson of Wartburg, TN.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Lois Honeycutt Lewis.
Pallbearers were Tony Talley, Brian Talley, Jason Lewis, Anthony Lewis, Jeremy Davis, Tammy Ingle and Jerry Bertram.

Mildred K. Baird
May 17, 1940 - Feb. 22, 2004
Mildred K. Baird, 63, of Kansas City, KS, passed away Feb. 22, 2004. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 26, at Maple Hill Funeral Home in Kansas City. Friends may call 7-9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Maple Hill Cemetery.
Mrs. Baird was born May 17, 1940 to Frank and Corrine (McCoy) Lowery.
She worked for over 10 years as a cook for the Kansas City, KS public schools until health forced her retirement in the early '90s.
Survivors include her husband, Charles Baird; son, Keith Baird; daughter, Karen Crigger; grandchildren, Devin and Danica Baird, Jessie, Krystal and Nick Green; and sisters, Inus and Rema Fitzgerald and Wilma Boles.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers and her son, Terry, in 1999.

Paul E. Copeland
March 10, 1905 - Feb. 17, 2004

Paul Ellsworth Copeland, 98, of Crossville, passed away Feb. 17, 2004. Funeral services were conducted Feb. 20 from the chapel of Bilbrey Funeral Home, with burial in Crossville City Cemetery. The Rev. Charleton Thackston officiated.
Mr. Copeland was born March 10, 1905 in Alpine, TN in Overton County, the son of Ellsworth Maywood Copeland and Sarah Loretta Keisling Copeland.
He was a supervisor for the parts department of the Ford Motor Company in Crossville for 30 years and was of the Methodist faith. He served in the Tennessee National Guard and on the Tennessee Rifle Team. He established the first Merita Bread Route in Crossville in 1936.
Survivors include his wife, Sula Thurman Copeland of Crossville; son and daughter-in-law, James E. and Carolyn Keelen Copeland of Olive Branch, MS; grandsons, Keith Ellsworth Copeland of Southaven, MS and Michael Turner Copeland of Phoenix, AZ; brother, Lucian Copeland of Livingston, TN; and sister, Grace Copeland Bilbrey of Livingston, TN.
Pallbearers were Bo Null, Jim Percell, John Donnelly, Gene Thurman, Harold D. Hodges and Mike Copeland.

Stanley W. Koontz
Feb. 23, 2004

Stanley William Koontz, 85, of the Rarity Bay community in Vonore, TN, formerly of Redding, OH and of Crossville, passed away Feb. 23, 2004. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Feb. 27, at Tellico Village Community Church, with the Rev. Marty Singley officiating. A reception will follow at the church.
Mr. Koontz was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army in Italy. He was a member of Tellico Village Community Church. He retired from General Electric. Following his retirement, he worked for over 20 years at Stonehenge Golf Club in Crossville as their starter.
Survivors include his wife of 11 years, Dorothy Koontz; sons, Ric Koontz of Crossville and Scott Koontz of Charleston, SC; and four grandchildren. He is also survived by his wife's three children and six grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Marge Koontz; and parents, Edgar and Leona Koontz.

Evelyn J. Miller
April 7, 1940 - Feb. 20, 2004

Evelyn Juanita Miller, 63, of Crossville, passed away Feb. 20, 2004. A memorial service was held Feb. 24 at New Hope Baptist Church, with Vern Daugherty officiating.
Mrs. Miller was born April 7, 1940 in Pikeville, TN, the daughter of Dave and Bessie Reed.
She was a member of New Hope Baptist Church and worked in a restaurant.
Survivors include her son, Danny Wayne Howard; sisters, Aileen Bishop and Mary Hale; and grandchildren, Scott and Kelly Trussell and Terry Howard.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sons, Terry and Richard Trussell; brothers, Ernest and Clarence Reed; and sister, Blanche Keys.

Dorothy P. B. Polson
Aug. 29, 1918 - Feb. 23, 2004

Dorothy Pearl Brown Polson, 85, of Oak Ridge, formerly of Crossville, passed away Feb. 23, 2004. Funeral services were conducted Feb. 22 at Weatherford Mortuary in Oak Ridge, with burial in Oak Ridge Memorial Park. The Rev. William Mooney officiated.
Mrs. Polson was born Aug. 29, 1918 in Crossville, the daughter of Johnathan Segystamus and Stacy Alberta Hamby Brown.
Before moving to Oak Ridge, she taught school in Crossville and then continued teaching in Oak Ridge for a short period of time. In earlier years, she was also active with Brownie Scouts. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church.
Survivors include her husband, John S. Polson of Oak Ridge; daughter, Janice Elaine Dobbs of Oak Ridge; sister, Lela Tabor of Crossville; and grandchildren, Doug Dobbs and Melissa Dobbs, both of Oak Ridge.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Fred, Alonzo, Clenice and Lawrence Brown.

Rose Mary Reagan, 68, of Crossville, passed away Feb. 17, 2004. Funeral services were conducted Feb. 19 from the chapel of Bilbrey Funeral Home, with burial in Goney Cemetery. Bro. Ralph Reagan officiated.
Mrs. Reagan was born Sept. 15, 1935 in Indianapolis, IN.
She was a homemaker and of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include her husband, James Reagan of Crossville; sons, Thomas Reagan of Crossville and Jerry Reagan of Soddy Daisy; and daughters, Cindy Anderson of Crossville, Susie Duckworth of Ohio, Anna Davis of Crossville, Mary Hitchcock of Crossville and Lesa Reagan of Crossville.

William D. Anderson
March 9, 1938 - Feb. 15, 2004
William Densel Anderson, 65, of Crossville, passed away Feb. 15, 2004. Funeral services were conducted Feb. 18 from the chapel of Crossville Memorial Funeral Home, with graveside services held at Springs Chapel Cemetery in Fentress County. Bobby Atkinson officiated.
Mr. Anderson was born March 9, 1938 in Rosland, TN in Fentress County, the son of Lincoln and Lena Anderson.
He was retired from International Paper Company in Florida and was a resident of Auburndale, FL for 34 years.
Survivors include many brothers, half-brothers, sisters, half-sisters, nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his half-brother, Glen Bowman.
Pallbearers were Lee Hawks, Trent Hawks, Dustin Hawks, Lewis Innis, Dana Taylor and Speedy Smith Jr.
Honorary pallbearer was Raymond Norris.

Effie A. Baker
June 18, 1927 - Jan. 20, 2004

Effie A. Baker (née: Walker), 76, of Middlefield, OH, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 20, 2004, at Briar Hill Health Care Residence, Middlefeld, OH.
Born on June 18, 1927, in Pikeville, TN, she was a daughter of Elmer and Gertrude (Hamilton) Walker and was a resident for 14 years, coming from Tennessee.
Mrs. Baker was a factory worker for 13 years in the Romec Division of Lear Seigler in Elyria, OH.
She was a member of Parkman Congregational Church in Parkman, OH. She loved vegetable and flower gardening, rose gardens and also did crocheting and needlework.
Survivors include one son, Paul (Kim) Richards of Novelty, OH; one daughter, Sharon (Everett) Swords of Southington, OH; one sister, Janie Kerley of Pikeville, TN; five grandchildren, Anna, Christopher, Joseph, Maxwell and Caitlin; and five great-grandchildren, Britney, Jonathan, Ashley, Gailen and Ronnie.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Paul Richards; her second husband, Frederick Baker; and seven brothers and sisters.
Funeral services were conducted Jan. 22 at Russell Golden Rule Funeral Service, 15670 West High Street, (Route 87), Middlefield, OH, with Pastor Gerald Sanders, of Parkman Congregational Church in Parkman, OH, officiating.
Burial was in Middlefeld Cemetery, Middlefield, OH.

Carolyn S. Klein
Jan. 14, 1944 - Feb. 16, 2004

Carolyn Sue Klein, 60, of Crossville, passed away Feb. 16, 2004. Memorial services were conducted Feb. 21 from St. Raphael's Episcopal Church, with the Rev. Ann Markle officiating.
Mrs. Klein was born Jan. 14, 1944 in Cumberland County, the daughter of Willie Lee and Artie Lee Pugh Parsons.
She was self-employed, providing a cleaning service, and was a member of St. Raphael's Episcopal Church. She loved flowers, birds, decorating and gardening. She also had a fond love for her pets.
Survivors include her sister, Alma Jean West of Crossville; brothers and sisters-in-law, Oliver and Betty Sue Parsons and Paul and Lou Ann Parsons, all of Crossville; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Chuck Klein; sister, Juanita Parsons; and special friend, Tom Livesay.

Donald "Dub" Gene Sherrill, 44, of Crossville, passed away Feb. 17, 2004. Funeral services were conducted Feb. 20 from Bible Baptist Church, with burial at Haley's Grove Cemetery. Bro. Donald Wattenbarger officiated.
Mr. Sherrill was born Aug. 12, 1959 in Berea, OH, the son of Buster and Nellie Pelfrey Sherrill.
He worked in custodial services and was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include his brothers, Lonnie Sherrill, Joe Sherrill and Bobby Sherrill, all of Crossville; and sisters, Connie Lou Sherrill of Knoxville and Betty Sue Massey of Florida.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Donnie Sherrill.

Geneva Croteal Sherlock, 83, of Crossville, passed away Feb. 18, 2004. A memorial service was held Feb. 21 at Kingdom Hall of Jehova's Witnesses in Crossville, with Veral Vanwinkle officiating. Burial will be in Avonmore, PA at a later date.
Mrs. Sherlock was born Dec. 10, 1920 in Shelbyanna, KY.
She was a homemaker and a member of Kingdom Hall of Jehova's Witnesses.
Survivors include her son, James F. Sherlock; daughters, Nova Ledford and Arlene McGlade; grandchildren, James Phillips, Fawn Glasmeyer, Vicky Phillips, Wess Phillips, Jessica Sherlock, Allen Lewis, Quentin Ledford, Rebecca Bull, Gideon Ledford, Rachel Jennings and Clay Sherlock; 11 great-grandchildren; and sister, Stella Mullins.

Woodrow E. Singleton

Woodrow Ernest Singleton, 86, of Crossville, passed away Feb. 17, 2004. Funeral services were conducted Feb. 20 from the chapel of Bilbrey Funeral Home, with burial in Haley's Grove Cemetery. Bro. J.D. Carnes officiated.
Mr. Singleton was born Sept. 1, 1917 in Dickson County, TN, the son of George and Bertha Black Singleton.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was a mechanic for the Cumberland County school system. He was a founding member of Oaklawn Baptist Church.
Survivors include his son, Marvin Singleton of Crossville; daughters, Judy Davis of Crossville and Linda Sanders of Raleigh, NC; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Estelle Green Singleton; brothers, Clifton, Leo and J.D. Singleton; and sisters, Reta Mae Nelson and Audrey Fields.

Madge Barnes, 89, of Crossville, passed away Feb. 12, 2004. Graveside services will be Feb. 21 at 1:30 p.m. EST at the Hamilton Memorial Gardens in Hixson, TN.
Mrs. Barnes was born Aug. 30, 1914 in Rockwood, TN. She was the daughter of Fred and Emma Wasson McCuistion.
She was a department buyer for Cain and Sloane and was of the Methodist faith.
Surviors include sister, Ruby Adwell, of Ozone; sister-in-law, Leah McCuistion, of Cumberland Homesteads; and a host of nieces and nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Seth Barnes; parents, Fred and Emma McCuistion; sisters, Mabel, Annabell, Ruth and Elizabeth; and brothers, Stanley, Earl, Tom and Floyd.

Bobby J. Bowman
Aug. 30, 1934 - Feb. 11, 2004

Bobby Joe "Bob" Bowman, 69, of Fairfield Glade, passed away Feb. 11, 2004. A memorial service was conducted Feb. 14 at Fairfield Glade Baptist Church, with the Rev. Doug Turner officiating.
Mr. Bowman was born Aug. 30, 1934 in Old Hickory, TN, the son of Howard Dewey Bowman and Mary Alene Jones Bowman.
He was director of purchasing for Miami Valley Paper, referee for Miami Valley Officiating Association & Youth Sports, a Mason and a member of Scottish Rites. He resided in Dayton, OH 1959-1978. He was county commissioner for Cumberland County and a member of the Buckeyes and Yukon Jocks golf groups. He was a member of the Fairfield Glade Baptist Church and served in the U.S. Navy from 1955-1959.
Survivors include his daughter, Diana Lynn Borm of Collierville, TN; sons, Robert Joe Bowman and Chris Bowman, both of Mission Viejo, CA; grandchildren, Clint and Brett Borm of Collierville, TN; and brother, Jim Bowman of Fairfield Glade.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Jean Hammock Bowman; and brother, John Bowman.

Jolean Edith Delk, 66, of Fairfield Glade, passed away Feb. 14, 2004. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 22 at the Fairfield Glade United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Max Mayo and the Rev. Lanita Pride officiating. Burial will be in Hannah Cemetery, North Dakota.
Ms. Delk was born July 22, 1937 in Grand Forks, ND, the daughter of Robert Dougal McLean Sr. and Jean McMaster McLean.
She was a homemaker and a member of the Fairfield Glade United Methodist Church.
Survivors include her son, William Shelton Delk Jr. of Fairfield Glade; daughter, Robyn Jean Delk of Fairfield Glade; grandson, Jeffrey Dean Callis Jr. of North Carolina; and granddaughters, Jessica Nicole Edwards and Brittany Danille Edwards of Fairfield Glade.

George A. Miller

George Anthony Miller, 73, of Fairfield Glade, passed away Feb. 11, 2004. Funeral services were conducted Feb. 14 from Lighthouse Baptist Church, with burial in Crossville City Cemetery. Bro. David Rowan and Bro. Nick Ball officiated.
Mr. Miller was born March 2, 1930 in South Bend, IN, the son of Anthony John and Louise Keller Miller.
He was an independent insurance agent with Bridge-Holland-Miller and a detective for the South Bend Police Department. He was also an Air Force veteran, having served our country during Korea. He was a charter member and deacon of Lighthouse Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Chris Miller of Fairfield Glade; son, Garry Miller of Crossville; daughter, Jennifer Woods Bennett of Cummings, GA; sister, Carolyn Miller of Cary, NC; and grandchildren, Cori Bennett and Madison Woods.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his niece, Nickki Bouché.

Mr. Townsend was born March 13, 1945 in Athens, TN, the son of George and Frances Cornett Townsend.
He was a mechanic for Monticella Canning Company and of the Jehova Witness faith.
Survivors include his wife, Rosalie Townsend of Crossville; daughters, Rebecca Jackson of Crossville, Marci Jackson of Crossville, Angela Whittenburg of Crossville, Pamela Shelmadine of Fort Wayne, IN and Sandra Townsend of Etowah, TN; sons, Tommy Jackson Jr. of Crossville and Jimmy Townsend of Madisonville, TN; brother, George Townsend of Calhoun, TN; sisters, Tiny Morgan of Crossville and Carolyn Walker of Sweetwater; and nine grandchildren.

Thomas Raymond Coughenour, 76, of Fairfield Glade, passed away Feb. 11, 2004. A memorial service was conducted Feb. 14 from the chapel of Bilbrey Funeral Home, with the Rev. Max Mayo and the Rev. Lanita Pride officiating.
Mr. Coughenour was born Jan. 27, 1928, in Uniontown, PA, the son of Raymond and Elizabeth Bossart Coughenour.
He was a salesman for Westinghouse and Phillips Electric. He served in the U.S. Navy and was of the Methodist faith.
Survivors include his wife, Beth Coughenour of Fairfield Glade; sons, David Coughenour of Austin, TX, and Eric Coughenour of Butler, PA; grandchildren, Christine Clancy, Maggie Plant, Graig Coughenour, Brian Coughenour, Tegan Dischner and Dylan Coughenour; and six great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Leslie Anne Coughenour; a brother, Charles Coughenour; and a sister, Sally Fornella.

Richard Coy Lewis

Richard Coy Lewis, 68, of Crossville, passed away Feb. 14, 2004. Funeral services were held Feb. 17 from the chapel of Crossville Memorial Funeral Home and Crematory Inc., with Richard Tinch officiating. Burial was in Linary Cemetery.
Mr. Lewis was born Oct. 30, 1935, the son of Roy and Cora Lee Lewis.
Before his illness, he had been a Cumberland County employee for many years. He was a member of Linary Church of Christ.
Survivors include his wife, Joyce Lewis; son and daughter-in-law, Richard "Dick" and Cindy Lewis; daughter-in-law, Melissa Miller Walker; brother, Sonny Lewis; sisters, Betty Jean Tollett and Carolyn Reynolds; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Barbara Jean Lewis; a son, Robert Wayne Lewis; a stepson, Ed Walker; and a sister, Anna M. Hedgecoth.

Betty Jean McGuire, 76, of Crossville, passed away Feb. 2, 2004. Graveside services were held Feb. 6 at Memory Gardens in Madison, WV, with Frank Frye officiating.
Mrs. McGuire was born July 16, 1927, in Fitzpatrick, WV.
She was a homemaker.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Ellen and Roger Hurley of Crossville; grandchildren, Matthew Goodwin, Drew Goodwin and Lane Goodwin and wife, Rachel; and sister Ruby Salyer.
She was preceded in death by her husband, George McGuire; son, Tony McGuire; sister, Arlene Tackett; and brother, Darrell Hall.

Thelbert Wayne "Buddy" Shelton

Thelbert Wayne "Buddy" Shelton, 37, of Crossville, passed away Feb. 13, 2004. Services were held Feb. 16 at Crossville Memorial Chapel with Mike Kerley and Donald Wattenbarger officiating. Burial was in Crossville City Cemetery.
Mr. Shelton was born Oct. 20, 1966 in Cumberland County, the son of Thelbert and Irene Shelton.
He was an automobile mechanic.
Survivors include his mother, Irene Shelton; sister and brother-in-law, Vicky and Darwin Scarlett; and sister and brother-in-law, Faye and Raymond Smith.
He was preceded in death by his father, Thelbert Shelton.
Pallbearers were Dale Crockett, Lynn Russell, Johnny Pleasant, Todd Hinch, Greg Bilyeu and Junior Cooper. Honorary pallbearers were Jerry Kerley and Randy Fish.

Elizabeth "Bugg" Wright, 84, of Rockwood, passed away Feb. 17, 2004. Funeral services will be held at 8 p.m. EST Wednesday, Feb. 18, from the chapel of Evans Mortuary, Rockwood, with the Rev. Jack Kenneth Frisbie, 57, of Cumberland Cove in Monterey, TN, passed away Feb. 2, 2004. Funeral services were conducted Feb. 6 at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, with Father Patrick Brownell and Deacon Joe Solis officiating. Burial with full military honors was in Chattanooga National Cemetery.
Mr. Frisbie was born Jan. 11, 1946 in Alexandria, MN, the son of Milton Kenneth and Maxine Vickerman Frisbie.
He served in the United States Navy and Fleet Marines during Vietnam and retired from TransWorld Airlines. He was a devoted member of St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, being a sacrastin and extraordinary minister for Member Cursillo Group at St. Alphonsus. He also belonged to the Knights of Columbus and the VFW.

Eileen Brookhart Willis
Feb. 1, 2004

Eileen Brookhart Willis, 78, of Winter Park, FL passed away Feb. 1, 2004. Born in 1925, Eileen was a native of Crossville and the daughter of George F. and Mary B. Brookhart. She went on to earn a Bachelor of Arts at the University of Tennessee and her library science degree from George Peabody College.
After working for libraries in Lisbon, OH and Martin, TN, she moved to Orlando in 1952 to become the bookmobile librarian for the Albertson/Orlando Public Library. It was there that she met Richard P. Willis, the bookmobile driver, to whom she was wed in 1956.
Eileen later served as head of the library's Local History/Genealogy department for more than 30 years, retiring in 1988. She was a trusted resource to many in researching family and local histories.
Throughout her career and retirement, she was involved in many civic organizations including Daughters of the American Revolution, Colonial Dames, Daughters of American Colonists, United Daughters of the Confederacy, the Central Florida Genealogical Society, the Federation of Genealogical Societies, Altrusa and Mended Hearts.
As a long-time member of the First Congregational Church of Winter Park, she served in various roles including that of church historian.
She is survived by her husband, Richard Willis of Winter Park, FL; son and daughter-in-law, George and Anne Willis, and granddaughter, Emily, of Melbourne, FL; brother, G. Donald Brookhart and his wife, Jane Anne of Crossville; and brother, C. Edward Brookhart and his wife, Mary Altie of Frisco, TX.
She was greatly loved by many other family members and friends.
A memorial service was held Wednesday, Feb. 4.

Richard Simpson Woody Jr., 81, of Mt. Vernon, TX, formerly of Isoline, TN, passed away Feb. 9, 2004. Funeral services will be conducted at 3 p.m. Friday, Feb. 13, from the chapel of Bilbrey Funeral Home, with burial in Woody Cemetery. The Rev. David Wilkerson will officiate. The family will receive friends from 1-3 p.m., two hours prior to the service.
Mr. Woody was born Aug. 15, 1922 in Isoline, TN, the son of Richard S. Woody Sr. and Louise Thompson Woody.
He was retired management and was a member of Macon Baptist Church. He served in the U.S. Army (Sgt.) during World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Margaret Wallis Woody of Mt. Vernon, TX; sons, David Woody of Sulphur Springs, TX and Paul M. Woody of Nashville, TN; daughters, RoseAnne Landreth of Bartlett, TN and Janice Woody of Nashville; grandchildren, Glen S. Landreth, Ron K. Mr. Beatty was born Oct. 10, 1930 in Alpine, TN, the son of Herman and Pearl Vaughn Beaty.
He was an iron worker for the Butler Steel Co. and served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict.

Vivian Gaskins Daugherty, 88, has passed away. Memorial services were conducted Jan. 28 on what would have been Herb Daugherty Sr., her husband's, 97th birthday. Tributes were give by her three sons and the Rev. Roland Smith of Central Baptist Church.
Mrs. Daugherty was born March 1, 1915, the daughter of Harvey and Bertha Gaskins.
She married Herb Daugherty Sr. on Nov. 6, 1932. They celebrated their 68th wedding anniversary prior to her husband's death in 2001.
For the past 40 years, they had lived, worked and retired in San Diego, CA before moving to Crossville seven years ago.
She was one of 11 children, and all preceded her in death but one sister, Bea Hicks of Kansas City, Kansas. She had a twin sister who lived for many years in Los Angeles, CA before passing away several years ago in that city.
She is survived by her three sons, Vern Daugherty, pastor of the New Hope Baptist Church where she was a member; James Herb Daugherty Jr. (Ret.) of Hilton Head, SC; and Dr. Ken Daugherty, minister and executive director of the Christian Emergency Relief Team (CERT) based in Crossville. She is also survived by eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
One son, Larry Lindell Daugherty, preceded her in death at the age of 18 months in the 1940s.

John M. McLean
May 18, 1923 - Feb. 2, 2004

John McBride McLean, 80, of Fairfield Glade, passed away Feb. 2, 2004. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, Feb. 9 at the Fairfield Glade United Methodist Church, with the Revs. Max Mayo and Lanita Pride officiating. The family will receive friends beginning at noon Monday, one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Green Acres Memory Gardens.
Mr. McLean was born May 18, 1923 in Ontario, Canada, the son of James Ross McLean and Georgina Jackson McLean.
He was a civil engineer for the Ford Motor Company. and of the Methodist faith. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara Beck McLean of Fairfield Glade; sons, Mark McLean of Vancouver, WA and Scott McLean of Monterey, TN; daughter, Sandra Perry of Seattle, WA; grandchildren, Micah, Bree and Connor; and sister, Donelda Gable of Pittsburgh, PA.
The family requests that memorials be made to Fairfield Glade United Methodist Church.

Charlotte Celeste McMullin Newman, 77, of Crossville, passed away Feb. 2, 2004. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 6, at Memorial Baptist Church, with burial in Hickman City Cemetery in Hickman, KY. Bro. Bill Roberts and the Rev. Ralph Allmon will officiate.
Mrs. Newman was born Aug. 27, 1926 in Obion County, TN, the daughter of Gaither Tildon and Ada Corum McMullin.
She was a homemaker and a member of Memorial Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Charles Newman of Crossville; son and daughter-in-law, Neville and Sharon Newman of Lucas, TX; daughter and son-in-law, Kelli and DeNohal Alley of Oneida, TN; brother, Lynn McMullin of Horseshoe Bend, AR; sisters, Mary Pierce of Dundee, FL; Hilda Allmon of Horseshoe Bend, AR and Sue Waln of Rockwall, TX; and grandchildren, Justin, Rebecca, Jeremy, Joshua, Josiah, Hannah, Taylor, Julianna, Camille and Courtney.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Rogers McMullin and Gary McMullin; and sister, Christine McMullin.

Barbara Ruth Rector, 66, of Crossville, passed away Feb. 2, 2004. Funeral services were conducted Feb. 4 from the chapel of Crossville Memorial Funeral Home, with burial in Bowman Cemetery. Raymond Chadwick and Scott Brady officiated, with music by Reba D. Reed.
Mrs. Rector was born Feb. 5, 1937 in Crossville, the daughter of Blaine Barnwell and Elsie Woody Barnwell.
She was a homemaker and a member of Trinity Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, William L. Rector; daughters and sons-in-law, Pamela and Jason Tanner and Veronica (Roni) and Danny Hopson; grandchildren, Erika Joann Rector, William Tyler Connley and Nicholas Aleksander Tanner; mother, Elsie Woody Barnwell; brothers, Ralph Barnwell, Hershel Barnwell, Sevier Barnwell, Edd Barnwell, Frank Barnwell and Ernest Barnwell; and sister, Teresa Cole.

Gerald Winton Tibbs, 63, of Lake Tansi, passed away Feb. 1, 2004. A memorial service was conducted Feb. 4 at Tansi Community Church, with Jeff Monday officiating.
Mr. Tibbs was born May 31, 1940 in Richmond, IN, the son of Winton and Frances Tibbs.
He was a member of Tansi Community Church.

Margie Affleck, 78, of Crossville, passed away Jan. 31, 2004. There will be a private family service at a later date.
Mrs. Affleck was born Aug. 6, 1925 in Salt Lake City, UT, the daughter of Charles and Dorothy Selander Andrus.
She was an executive secretary for a life insurance company.
Survivors include her daughter, Kristen Bliss of Crossville; stepdaughter, Deanna McLaughlan of Utah; three grandchildren; sister, Audrey Williams of California; and brother, David Andrus of California.

Carllena Boronda, 44, of the Plateau Community in Cumberland County, passed away Jan. 31, 2004. Funeral services were conducted Feb. 3 from the chapel of Goff Funeral Home in Monterey. The Rev. Eddie Way and the Rev. Bobby Floyd officiated, with interment following in the Muddy Pond Cemetery.
Mrs. Boronda was born Aug. 19, 1959 in Bartlesville, OK, the daughter of Donnie Edford and Louise Lee Burnett.
She was an employee of the Arby's restaurant on Jefferson Ave. in Cookeville and attended the Rock Springs Community Church.

Jerry "JB" Byers, 54, of Atlanta, GA, passed away Jan. 9, 2004. He requested no services.
Mr. Byers was born June 12, 1949 in Maryland, TN, the son of William "AV" and Mary Frances Byers.
He was a loving father, grandfather, brother, uncle and nephew. He was a decorated Vietnam veteran, having served in the U.S. Marine Corps. He was a devoted employee of ADT Securities for 34 years in Illinois, Alabama, Texas and Georgia.

Charles Henry Kraklow, 65, passed away Jan. 29, 2004. Visitation was held Sunday, Feb. 1 from the chapel of Hood Funeral Home.
Mr. Kraklow was born Jan. 6, 1939 in Milwaukee, WI, the son of Harry and Ester Lazewski Kraklow.
He served in the Marine Corps during Vietnam and was a member of the VFW. He also served as a police officer for the Stevens Point Police Department in Stevens Point, WI.

Kermit E. McDonald

Kermit Edison McDonald, 81, of Crossville, passed away Jan. 29, 2004. Funeral services were conducted Feb. 1 from the chapel of Crossville Memorial Funeral Home, with Todd McDonald officiating and music by his daughter-in-law, Brenda McDonald. Burial with full military honors provided by the Veterans Honor Guard took place at Green Acres Memory Gardens.
Mr. McDonald was born Oct. 7, 1922 in Overton County, the son of Enos and Ada Fowler McDonald.
He has been a member of the Lawrence Chapel Church of God of Prophecy for 40 years. Before retiring, he was a self-employed owner of J&K Sheet Metal Company. He also served in the Army during World War II.
Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Ida Mae Cox McDonald; son and daughter-in-law, Jimmy and Brenda McDonald of Crossville; daughter and son-in-law, Palma and Fred Stout of Crossville; and sisters, Mavis Norrod and Avis McDonald, both of Livingston.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Kenneth McDonald.
Pallbearers were Palma Stout, James Norrod, Joel Smith, Jerry Schubert, Derrick Williams, Stan Skwirsk, Scott Hale and Jimmy McDonald.

Mr. Vespremi was born Jan. 3, 1929 in Detroit, MI, the son of Alex and Ceceila Jukubick Vespremi.
He was retired from the United States Air Force and was of the Catholic faith. He was also a member of VFW Post 5025 and DAV.
Survivors include his wife, Ruth Kerley Vespremi of Crossville; sons, Christopher Vespremi of Eaton Rapids, MI and Joseph Vespremi of Dennison, TX; daughter, Patricia Vespremi of Dennison, TX; brother, Alex Vespremi Jr. of Inster, MI; sister, Margaret McGowan of Inster, MI; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Mr. Ryan was born in Crawford, TN, moving to Florida in 1954.
He had been employed with United Technology for many years before retiring. He was a member of the First Free Methodist Church of West Palm Beach. He was also a member of C.O.P. with the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Department.
Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Dorothy Ryan; daughter, Jennie (Tom) Gurkin, Sarah (Bob) Vander Griend and Anna (David) Baggerman; grandchildren, Kendra and Aaron (Alexis) Gurkin, Ben and Lisa Vander Griend and John and Caitlin Baggerman; and five brothers.

Mr. Spoor was retired from Lake Central School Corporation.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Mary Ellen Spoor; loving children, Clarice (Mike) Tryon of Crossville, Jeannine (Don) Curtis of Lowell, IN, Dorothy (Butch) Austin of Evansville, IN, Nancy (Denny) Spoor, Floyd E. (Claudia) Spoor Jr., Ralph E. (Jan) Spoor of Montgomery, MI, William M. (Cindy) Spoor of Crown Point, IN, Robert L. (Cindy) Spoor of Hammond, IN and Thomas N.
