Chester L. Hedgecoth
March 14, 1935 - Aug. 24, 2005

Chester Lawrence Hedgecoth, 70, of Knoxville, passed away at Baptist West Hospital, Wednesday, Aug. 24, 2005.
Mr. Hedgecoth was born on March 14, 1935 in Crossville, TN, and is survived by his wife of 40 years, Evelyn Bonney Hedgecoth formerly of Oak Ridge, TN; sisters, Helen Buckner and Myra Hedgecoth; aunt, Leah McCuiston; niece, Martha Jane Turner; great-niece, Destiny King and great-nephew, Kyle Turner, all of Crossville, TN; along with many other relatives. He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Pat Bonney Dunlap Hartman of Oak Ridge; niece, Denise Dunlap Billings and her husband Tom of Nashville, TN; and nephew, Cleon S. Hartman II and his children, April, Tanner, and Reid all of Oak Ridge, TN.
He was proceeded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Chester Arthur Hedgecoth; his sister, Mrs. Mary Jane Mabry, all of Crossville, TN, and his niece, Nancy Buckner of Orlando, Florida.
Mr. Hedgecoth began playing the drums as a member of the Cumberland County High School Band. Immediately after completing high school, he attended the Roy Knapp School of Percussion in Chicago where he studied music. After leaving Chicago, he attended Tennessee Polytechnical Institute (TPI) in Cookeville, TN where he came under the influence of Dr. W.J. Julian, former head of the University of Tennessee band program. Mr. Hedgecoth graduated from TPI in 1959 with a BA in Music Education and began his teaching career in Chattanooga, TN as the band director at East Ridge High School.
He received his MD in Music Education from the University of Tennessee in Knoxville in 1966. After receiving his degree, he was hired as band director of Bearden Middle School, Knoxville, TN where he remained until his retirement in 1989 due to health problems.
Mr. Hedgecoth was not only an outstanding music teacher, he also excelled as a jazz drummer, and played with big bands headed by Tony Pastor, Ray McKinley and others. At one time he had five of his former percussion students touring nationally with name bands, all at the same time. The walls of the band room at Bearden Middle School are covered with plaques citing his band's accomplishments over the years as having earned "Superior" ratings in the State Band Festival Competition. The Bearden Middle School Concert band performed the opening ceremonies for the Dogwood Arts Festival from 1971 through 1976, and the Tennessee School Boards Association meeting in 1980 and 1983. The band also participated at the East Tennessee Symphony Bands and Orchestra Association Festival and the Solo Ensemble Festival each year.
Along with teaching private percussion lessons, Mr. Hedgecoth also judged at local band competitions and music festivals throughout the South. He was one of those teachers dedicated to molding lives and teaching students about respect and responsibility. He was a true motivator.
In 1987, Remo, Inc., maker of drum sets and drum hardware, presented Mr. Hedgecoth with the EPPI Award for Excellence in the Profession of Dedication and Contribution to the field of the Percussion Arts and Education. He also received the Knoxville City Schools Citizenship Award for the 1966-1967 school year.
On May 7, 1987 Mr. Hedgecoth was honored with a special tribute as hundreds of friends, former students, and admirers gathered to honor the modest band director. An evening concert was held featuring the UT Percussion Ensemble and University of Tennessee Marimba Choir. Several former students also performed as guest soloists. Mr. Hedgecoth was associated with the following organizations: American Federation of Musicians, Local 546, Band and Orchestra National Association, Barnum & Bailey Circus, Chattanooga and Knoxville Symphony Orchestras, Holiday On Ice, Knoxville Musician's Association, various local dance bands, Parent Teachers Association, Phi Beta Mu - National School Bandmaster Fraternity. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be sent to the Chet Hedgecoth Scholarship Fund at The University of Tennessee Department of Music, Knoxville, TN.
According to Mr. Hedgecoth's wishes, his body was donated to the Medical Education and Research Institute (MERI), Genesis - Gift of Life program located in Memphis, TN. Plans for a memorial service celebrating his life have not yet been finalized.

Donna K. Spall
Aug. 11, 1935 - Aug. 28, 2005

Donna Kay Spall, 70, of Fairfield Glade, passed away August 28, 2005. Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Aug. 31 at Christ Lutheran Church in Fairfield Glade, with Pastor Jerry Weeks officiating. Services will be held Sept. 10 at 11 a.m. in Marion, IN at Westminster Presbyterian Church. The Rev. Andrew Schramm will be officiating.
Mrs. Spall was born Aug. 11, 1935 in Huntington County, IN, the daughter of Austin R. and Mary Ellen Robbins Anderson.
She married Ronald P. Spall Dec. 15, 1951. She was retired as a bookkeeper with Hanks Supermarkets and a member of Christ Lutheran Church in Fairfield Glade. She was also a member of Job's Daughters. She enjoyed golf, traveling and dining out. The love she had for her family was unconditional and everlasting.
Survivors include her husband, Ronald Spall of Fairfield Glade; son, Gary Spall and wife Mary of Marion, IN; daughters, Deborah Rowe and husband Dale of Kokomo, IN, Evellen Brewer and husband Robin of Sweetser, IN and Stephanie Ellet and husband Jody of Marion, IN; brother, Russell Anderson and wife Judy of Parish, FL; sisters, Mary Deerwester and husband Bill of Parish, FL and Norma Achor and husband Michael of Marion, IN; grandchildren, James Ferries Rowe, Kelley Rowe, Joshua Spall, Elizabeth Spall, Jake Martz, Jessica Martz, Stephanie Ellet, Jeremy Ellet, Bill Brewer and Cherie Calobrace; and 11 great-grandchildren.
The family has requested donations be made to the Fairfield Glade Christ Lutheran Church building fund.

George B. Wilkinson
Feb. 17, 1947 - Aug. 28, 2005

George Benny Wilkinson, 58, of Crossville, passed away Aug. 28, 2005. A memorial service will be held in North Carolina at a later date.
Mr. Wilkinson was born Feb. 17, 1947, in Modesto, CA, the son of George Benjamin and Floriene Johnson Wilkinson. He was retired from the United States Army where he served three tours in Vietnam with the 1/9th 1st Cavalry Division, 5th Special Forces Group and the 101st Airborne Division. He was a member of the DAV and a member of the Masonic Lodge in Springfield, MO. He was also a devoted HD rider.
Survivors include his wife, Greta Robbins Wilkinson of Crossville; mother, Floriene Wilkinson of Ceres, CA; son, Brent Wilkinson of Crocker, MO; daughter, Kembra Mathis and husband Jason of Tulsa, OK; sister, Edna Johnson of Modesto, CA; and two grandchildren.

Charlotte F. Carter
Oct. 8, 1942 - July 28, 2005

Charlotte Faye (Abercrombie) Carter, 62, of Fairfield Glade, passed away July 28, 2005. Funeral services were conducted July 31 at Trinity Tabernacle, with the Rev. Warren Burns officiating. Interment was in Green Acres Memory Gardens.
Mrs. Carter was born Oct. 8, 1942 in Denver, CO, the daughter of Dorsey (Gray) and Charles Abercrombie.
She was an interior designer and a member of Trinity Tabernacle.
Survivors include her husband, Bill Carter; sons, Grayson Carter, Michael Carter and Jeff McKinney; daughter, Denise Carter; mother, Dorsey (Gray) Abercrombie; sisters, Carolyn Black, Shirley Parker and Ginger Pitts; and nine grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her father, Charles Abercrombie.

Kenwood A. Hanson
Aug. 22, 1920 - July 30, 2005

Kenwood Alwin Hanson, 84, of Crossville, passed away July 30, 2005. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 3, at the Fairfield Glade Community Church.
Mr. Hanson was born Aug. 22, 1920, in Astoria, NY, the son of Pearl (Engel) and Arthur Hanson Sr.
He served in the United States Army during World War II, and his family will donate a veteran's flag to the Fairfield Glade Community Church. He was a founding partner of Hanson & Blakely, a plumbing and heating wholesale distributor and manufacturer's representative company. He resided in Hillsdale, NJ, for 35 years prior to his retirement to Fairfield Glade in 1987. He loved to play golf and bridge, and treasured his many friends in the Glade. He was a member of the Fairfield Glade Community Church, where he sang in the church choir.
Survivors include his daughters, Barbara Lorenz of Park Ridge, NJ, Christine Kaufman of Princeton Junction, NJ and Laurie Hanson of Montpelier, VT; daughter-in-law, Kate Gavin of Shelburne, VT; brother, Donald Hanson of Pinehurst, NC; and grandchildren, Michael, Stephanie, Andrew, Katie, Phoebe, Nathaniel and Forest.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Doris (Rogers) Hanson; son, Richard K. Hanson; and brother, Arthur Hanson Jr.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to the American Diabetes Association.

Udore E. Landry
April 27, 1913 - Aug. 23, 2005

Udore Eugene Landry, 92, of Crossville, passed away Aug. 23, 2005. A memorial service was held Aug. 27 at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, with Father Patrick Brownell officiating.
Mr. Landry was born April 27, 1913 in Fitchburg, MA, the son of Elise (Gaudet) and Fleurient Landry.
He moved from Massachusetts to San Diego, CA in 1955. He retired from General Dynamics in 1975 and moved to Crossville in 1996. He was a member of St. Alphonsus Catholic Church.
Survivors include his wife, Emma Jane (Hardy) Landry of Crossville; daughter, Elaine Rhea of Crossville; brothers, Louis Landry of Massachusetts and George Landry of California; sisters, Yvonne Hebert of Massachusetts, Emelda Legros of Massachusetts and Bella Welch of Florida; grandchildren, David Rhea of San Diego, Carl Rhea of San Diego and Larry Rhea of Crossville; step-grandchildren, Debra Dodson and Michael Hardy of Crossville; and seven great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Irene (Vachon) Landry; brothers, Raymond, Alfred, Edgar, Levy and Ernest Landry; and sisters, Leona Cote, Jeanette Landry, Anna Tournas and Marie Landry.

Clarence D. Patton
Jan. 15, 1921 - Aug. 13, 2005

Clarence Dexter Patton, 84, of Crossville, passed away Aug. 13, 2005. Funeral services were conducted Aug. 16 from the chapel of Bilbrey Funeral Home, with Bro. Junior Pugh officiating. Interment was in Crossville City Cemetery.
Mr. Patton was born Jan. 15, 1921, in Crossville, the son of Martha (Howard) and Allen Patton.
He was a dispatcher for the Cumberland County Sheriff's Department and served in the United States Army during World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Alma Jean (Stevens) Patton of Crossville; son, Dexter Patton of Maryville; daughter, Marjean Patton of Crossville; and grandchildren, Justin, Brock and Leah Patton, Christopher and Jennifer Overton.
He was preceded in death by his parents.

Stacy Diane (Byrd) Abston, 40, of Crossville, passed away Aug. 23, 2005. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 26, from the chapel of Jennings Funeral Home, with burial in the Taylor Place Cemetery.
Survivors include her sons, Christopher Chad Rogers of Crossville and Jacob Abston of Mayland; brother and sister-in-law, Lynn and Becky Braunm of Monterey; sisters, Debra Branham of Burkesville, KY and Becky Branham of Russle Springs, KY; stepbrother, Russel Melton of Monterey; and a host of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father, John Claude Byrd; mother, Ruth Ann Melton; brother, Claude Ray Byrd; sister, Donna Buckels; and nephew, Christopher Hester.

Gordon F. Hyder
Nov. 29, 1918 - Aug. 20, 2005

Gordon Franklin Hyder, 86, of Crossville, passed away Aug. 20, 2005. Funeral services were conducted Aug. 23 from the chapel of Crossville Memorial Funeral Home, with burial in Big Lick Cemetery. David Dalton officiated, with special music by Wilma McCoy and children.
Mr. Hyder was born Nov. 29, 1918 in Cumberland County, the son of Issac and Elzada Campbell Hyder.
Before retiring, he was employed by Cumberland County as a heavy equipment operator doing road work. He was of the Church of Christ faith.
Survivors include his daughters, Reba Joanne Matheny and Wilma Ruth Hagar; son, William "Bill" Shuburg; grandchildren, Gordon Houston, Scott Houston, Lisa Wood, Laura Simmons and Katherine Louschon; step-grandson, John Simmons; great-grandchildren, Terri Green, Joshua Houston, Jacob Houston, Thomas Houston, Tyler Wood, Nikole Wood and Gage Houston; great-great-grandchildren, Brent Green, Kyle Green and Heath Burke; and sisters, Martha Brown, Anna Humble, Alice Winningham and Cora Warner.

Sara Elizabeth Lowe, infant daughter of Mitchell and Kasey Lowe, passed away Aug. 21, 2005. Graveside services were conducted Aug. 23 at Henry Cemetery, with Pastor Tommy Slayton officiating.
Sara was born Aug. 21, 2005.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by her brothers, Levi and Matthew Lowe; grandparents, Leon and Brenda Neal and Terry and Cathy Lowe; and great-grandparents, Luther Neal, Evelyn Lowe and Wilma Knox, all of Crossville.

Ilaree Schriefer
July 17, 1925 - Aug. 21, 2005

Ilaree "Elaine" Schriefer, 80, of Crossville, passed away Aug. 21, 2005. Funeral services were conducted Aug. 23 from the chapel of Hood Funeral Home, with Bro. Mike Kerley officiating. Funeral services and burial will be held Friday in Reading, OH. Burial will be in Rest Haven Memorial Park.
Mrs. Schriefer was born July 17, 1925 in LaBucca, AL, the daughter of Joseph B. and Nora Justice Weems.
She was a retired seamstress and was a member of Cornerstone Baptist Church. In addition to being an excellent seamstress, she had many other talents, including gardening and flower arranging. She loved raising horses and enjoyed singing country music. She was a wonderful mother and grandmother who loved her family and life itself and will be dearly missed by all who were blessed to know her.
Survivors include her sons, Trinnie Green of Fairfield, OH and Paul Nicholas Schriefer of Cincinnati, OH; daughters, Dorothy Anderson of Crossville and Michele Pate of Loveland, OH; brother, J.T. Nichols of Ballwin, MO; sister, JoRee Williams of St. Charles, MO; 12 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

William W. Rector
March 17, 1931 - Aug. 13, 2005

William Walter Rector, 74, of Crossville, passed away Aug. 13, 2005. Funeral services were conducted Aug. 17 from the chapel of Bilbrey Funeral Home, with Bro. Austin Hamby officiating. Interment was in Mayland Cemetery.
Mr. Rector was born March 17, 1931 in Crossville, the son of Lilly Maud (Goodwin) and Charlie Rector.
He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and was retired from Avery Dennison where he was a line worker. He served in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War.
Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Nancy Rector of Crossville; son, Robert W. Rector of Dayton, OH; daughter, Carolyn C. Scarbrough of Crossville; sisters, Anna Bradam of Miamisburg, OH, Betty Coffman of Richland, MO and Emma Bilbrey of Nashville; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Frank Rector; and sisters, Bertha Bryant and Ellen Bryant.

Elsie V. Sherrill
April 22, 1930 - Aug. 15, 2005

Elsie Virginia Sherrill, 75, of Pikeville, passed away Aug. 15, 2005. Funeral services were conducted Aug. 17 from the chapel of Hood Funeral Home, with Bro. Chip Winstead officiating. Graveside committal services were held Aug. 18 at Walker Cemetery in Bledsoe County.
Mrs. Sherrill was born April 22, 1930 in Bledsoe County, the daughter of Clint and Cleo Blaylock Mooneyham.
She will be remembered as a cherished daughter, beloved wife and loving mother and grandmother. She loved taking care of her family and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed gardening, working in her flowers and canning.
Survivors include her husband, Carl Sherrill of Pikeville; son, Charles "Butch" Sherrill of Crossville; daughters, Carol Wyatt and Tina Bolin of Pikeville; grandchildren, Zeth and Maison Bolin, Magen and Levi Wachacha, Josh Wyatt, Lindsey and Dustin Doris, Jody and Cristie Sherrill and Jessy Sherrill; and great-grandchildren, Carlie and Racheal Sherrill, Bailey Grace Wachacha and Elsey Doris.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Richard Dewight Sherrill; and grandson, Benjamin Lee Wyatt.

Tommy E. Calahan
July 25, 1928 - Aug. 16, 2005

Tommy Everette Calahan, 77, of Crossville, passed away Aug. 16, 2005. Funeral services were conducted Aug. 18 at Homestead Baptist Church, with Bro. Brian Smith officiating. Graveside committal services were held Aug. 19 at Green Acres Memory Gardens.
Mr. Calahan was born July 25, 1928, in Cumberland County, the son of Tommy R. and Earcil Mae Woody Calahan.
He was a prominent and well-respected businessman in the community, retiring after 44 years as a banker with First National Bank. He was also a U.S. Army veteran, having served during Korea. He was a member of Homestead Baptist Church, which was a very important part of his life, along with his loving and devoted family.
Survivors include his loving wife of 54 years, Mary Helen Calahan of Crossville; sons and daughters-in-law, Tommy Everette and Henrietta Calahan Jr. and Larry and Debbie Calahan, all of Crossville; daughters and sons-in-law, Janet and Mike Graham and Carol and James Smith, all of Crossville; brothers, Earnest D. Calahan of Crossville and Bobby Calahan of Chattanooga; sister, Betty Sue Stubbs of Crossville; sister-in-law, Ann Calahan of Crossville; grandchildren, Leah and Laura Calahan, Scott Calahan and wife McGhie, Ben and Amanda Calahan, Mary Elizabeth, Katelyn and Caroline Graham, and Logan and Cameron Smith; and great-grandchildren, Gracie Calahan and Sutton Calahan.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, J.M. Calahan.

Charlie Gross
Oct. 10, 1915 - Aug. 16, 2005

Charlie Gross, 89, of Crossville, passed away Aug. 16, 2005. Funeral services were conducted Aug. 19 from the chapel of Crossville Memorial Funeral Home, with the Rev. Jeff Rice officiating and special music by Judy Waldo. Burial was in Green Acres Memory Gardens.
Mr. Gross was born Oct. 10, 1915 in Kentucky.
He was a coal miner in Kentucky for seven years and then became a factory worker assembling air conditioning units. He loved horses and working in his garden. He was a hard worker and he knew no strangers. He loved life to the fullest and his smile brightened every day. He will be greatly missed by family and friends.
Survivors include his loving wife, Idava Voci Gross; son, John Wrona; daughters, Ann Lee, Hazel Loomis, Anna Larson, Shirley Sisco and Violet Norris; brothers, Alfred and Leslie; and sisters, Hetty Naomi, Ann and Ruby; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and numerous other family members and great friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents and brothers.
Pallbearers were Marvin Waldo, Clint Lee, Danny Potter, Adam Hall, Sean Beach and Eric Donnan.

Helen J. Raynal
Oct. 21, 1938 - Aug. 20, 2005

Helen Joyce Raynal, 66, of Crossville, passed away Aug. 20, 2005. A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 28, from the chapel of Crossville Memorial Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 2-3 p.m. before the service.
Mrs. Raynal was born Oct. 21, 1938, in Detroit, MI, the daughter of Albert and Josephine Hardy.
She worked in hospital management for several years and attended St. Alphonsus Catholic Church. She was an inspiration to many people and was a good friend of Bill W.
Survivors include her husband, Bill Raynal of Crossville; son and daughter-in-law, Lee and Lisa Conklin and their children, Courtney, Kelsey, Jake and Michael of Toledo, OH; daughter, Susan Love and her daughter, Katie, of Florida; nine brothers and six sisters.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Lillian; and brother, Cornelius.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Hospice of Cumberland County.

Charles L. Stoner
Charles L. Stoner, 80, passed away recently. A memorial service will be held Thursday, August 25, 2005 at 1 p.m. at Forest Lawn Funeral Home and Memorial Park 1150 S. Dickerson Rd., Goodlettsville, TN, with the Rev. Joe Vickers officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Cremation will be performed by dear friend Robert Grimsley of Crossville Memorial Funeral Home.
Mr. Stoner was born in McMinnville, TN.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Marcus Stoner and Lucille Narron; brother, Spencer Stoner; and sister, Eveline Borthick.
Survivors include his beloved wife, Catherine L. Upon his return, he went to the School of Police of the City of Nashville, Law Enforcement Command Level Training, Delinquency Control for the University of Oklahoma, Delinquency Control Institute, University of South California, the Institute on Early Adolescent Attitudes Toward Law Enforcement, University of Cincinnati, Human Relations Institute, University of Indiana, In-Service Training, Legal Aspects School, U.S. Department of Justice Bureau of Narcotics and Dangerous Drugs School, Jackson, MS, U.S. Department of Justice Bureau of Narcotics and Dangerous Drugs School, New Orleans, LA, Management Level Training.

Bernice Wilson

Bernice Wilson, 85, of Monterey, passed away Aug. 23, 2005. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 25, from the chapel of Goff Funeral Home of Monterey. The Rev. Billy Parkerson will officiate and interment will follow in the Martha Washington Cemetery in Clarkrange. The family will receive friends Wednesday, Aug. 24, from 5-9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mrs. Wilson was born March 8, 1920 in Fentress County, the daughter of Gipson Henry and Elizabeth Key Norris.
She was a retired nurse's aid with Standing Stone Care and Rehabilitation Center in Monterey. She also attended the Monterey Church of God of Prophecy.
Survivors include her sons, Paul Wilson of Cookeville, Bob Wilson of Chattanooga, Bill Wilson of Monterey, Bernard Wilson of Bradton, FL and Larry Wilson of Monterey; 18 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Jean Ashburn of Clarkrange, Irene Dearmond of Crossville and Margie Brown of Rinnie; and brothers, Thomas Norris of Texas, Johnny Norris of Ashland, OH and Jimmy Norris of Nashville.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Clure Wilson, who passed away Nov. 28, 1994; two grandsons, Gary and Darrell Wilson; brother, Olen Wilson; and an infant sister and infant brother.

Robert E. Chapman, 84, of Pleasant Hill, passed away Aug. 9, 2005. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 24, at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Fairfield Glade, with the Rev. William Bateman officiating.
Mr. Chapman was born Sept. 24, 1920, in Highland Park, MI, the son of Dr. Everett Chapman and Martha Patterson Chapman.
He graduated from Wayne State University, served as communications officer on a headquarters ship in World War II, was employed by Ex-Cell-O Corporation in the Pure Pak Division for 40 years, was twice president of Rotary International in Highland Park, Walled Lake, MI and Fairfield Glade Rotary. He was also an ordained Elder of the Presbyterian Church for 57 years.
Survivors include his wife, Lois Jeanne Mills Chapman; daughter, Janet Chapman Huber; other family members, brother, John and his wife Joan; sister, Shirley Chapman; Rodger Chapman and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers and sisters-in-law, William and Jean, Douglas and Barbara; and sister and brother-in-law, Marjorie and David.

David Lynn Garrett, 62, of Crossville, passed away Aug. 18, 2005. Funeral services were conducted Aug. 21 at Pilot Mountain Missionary Baptist Church, with the Rev. Wayne Landrum and the Rev. Charles Webb officiating. Interment followed in Elizabeth Church Cemetery.
Mr. Garrett was a past Master of Emerald Lodge No. 377 F & AM. He was also a member of the Messenger Gospel Quartet for 28 years.

Mrs. Griffith was born Jan. 6, 1921 in Claiborne County, the daughter of Ambrose and Emma Carey Cole.
He was a homemaker and of the Baptist faith.

Mrs. Isham was born Sept. 22, 1970 in Buffalo, NY, the daughter of Judith (Schmitt) Brown of Crossville and David Hellriegel of Buffalo, NY.
She was a certified nurse technician.

Mr. Smith was employed by the state of Tennessee, Finance & Administration, for 26 years. He was a devoted husband and son.

Lester Earl "Tip" Sherrill, 88, of Temple, GA, formerly of Cumberland County, passed away Aug. 11, 2005. Funeral services were held Aug. 16 from the chapel of Hood Funeral Home, with the Rev. Betty Shaver and Mike Pillow officiating. Burial was in the Harris Cemetery.
Mr. Sherrill was born Jan. 17, 1917 in Grassy Cover, the son of Grover and Lydia Knox Sherrill.
He was retired as a heavy equipment mechanic and was an Army veteran, having served during World War II. He was of the Protestant faith. He will always be remembered for the wonderful stories he would tell about growing up and the many interesting things that occurred during his lifetime. He was a loving father and grandfather who loved his children and all his grandchildren very much.
Survivors include his son, Kenneth Sherrill of Ponca City, OK; daughters, Mary Pillow of Temple, GA, Carolyn Brannon of El Segundo, CA, Louella Sitton of Las Vegas, NV and Wanda Nichols of Heflin, AL; sister, Louise Smith of Cleveland, OH; 17 grandchildren; and 31 great-grandchildren.

Ronnie C. Wilson, 59, of Clarkrange, passed away Aug. 4, 2005. A private memorial service was held.
Mr. Wilson was born Feb. 2, 1946 in Clarkrange, the son of Nancy (Taylor) and Solon Wilson.
He was a sergeant in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He was a small business owner, was a good friend to everyone and loved hunting and fishing.
Survivors include his companion of seven years, Diana Jean Allred of Clarkrange; daughter, Alana Klei of Sparta; son, Wilson William of Cookeville; mother, Nancy (Taylor) Wilson of Sparta; brother and sister-in-law, Jere and Joan Wilson of Sparta; and grandson, Jordan Wilson.

She was a school teacher in Cumberland County for 30 years. She was also a member of Homestead Baptist Church. She enjoyed gardening and cross stitching.

Barry Walter Kukowski, 53, of Rockville, MD, passed away Aug. 13, 2005, at his parents' home in Fairfield Glade.
Mr. Kukowski was born Aug. 14, 1951, the son of James F. and JoAnn Christner Kukowski.
He was a senior service technician and attended Richard Montgomery High School in Rockville, MD, and Capital Institute of Technology in Kensington, MD.
He is survived by his wife, Sherry Kenney Kukowski, of Rockville, MD; daughter, Cynthia Lee Turcotte of Port Orange, FL; grandchildren Michael R. Craig-Turcotte and Paul M. Dallas Henry Smith, 83, of Crossville, passed away Saturday, Aug. 6, 2005, at Cumberland Medical Center in Crossville. Funeral services were conducted from the chapel of Bilbrey Funeral Home Monday, Aug. 8, 2005, with Bro. Phil Jenkins officiating. Burial followed in Hedgecoth Cemetery in Crossville.
Pallbearers were Roger Smith, Charles Melton, Ron Jones, Dale Parker, Lorene Buck, Ricky Smith and Bill Piper. Full military honors were provided by the Veterans Honor Guard.
He was born May 9, 1922, in Crossville, the son of Lilie (Stevens) and George Smith.
He owned Toy's Family Restaurant and served in the United States Army during World War II. He was awarded the Bronze Star.
Mr. Smith is survived by his wife, Vernelle Toy Smith; son, James Houston Toy, of Crossville; daughters Jamie Trainer of La Barge, MD, and Zora Doo Little of Illinois; and special daughter-in-law Greta Wilkinson of Crossville. He is also survived by seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father, George A. Smith; mother, Lilie Stevens Smith; brothers Bill Smith, Hooper Smith, Reed Smith and Albert Smith; and sisters Mary Lee Vitatoe, Ruth Robinson and Alice Smith.

Samuel C. Bridges
July 6, 1932 - July 26, 3005

Samuel C. Bridges was born in Nashville, TN, to Clifton and Glenis Bryant-Bridges on July 6, 1932. He accepted the Lord and was baptized at age eight in Crossville, TN. Samuel C. Bridges went home to the Lord on July 26, 2005, at the age of 73.
Samuel is preceded in death by his brothers, David and Daniel Bridges.
He is survived by his brother, John (Cindy); his sister, Faye (Fred Brandon); and his sister-in-law, Nelle (Olin Purvis) and Catherine S. Bridges.
Samuel joined the Army at age 18 and then married his sweetheart, Doris Vera Nagy, on Aug. 16, 1953. Together, Samuel and Doris had four children: Coni (Wendel Golden), Lori (Dennis Parker), Ken (Valerie), and Dale (Donna). Samuel served his country for 21 years, retiring in Belgium.
After teaching in the Overseas High School system in Belgium and then in England, he retired and moved to Kingwood, TX, to be closer to family. Never a person to be idle, Samuel helped his sons and friends operate their businesses. Samuel was an active and faithful member of the choir and was deacon of First Baptist Church of Porter, TX.

Bobbie Davidson

Bobbie Davidson, 77, of Miami Township, OH, passed away Thursday, Aug. 11, 2005, at Hospice of Dayton.
Mr. Davidson was born March 12, 1928, in Crossville, TN, the son of the late Robert and Nora (Woody) Davidson. He was a reired employee of Dayton Tire and Rubber with 30 years of service.
Mr. Davidson was preceded in death by his first wife, Helen Jeanette, in 1977, his second wife, Lois Jean, in 1999, and his sister, Beryl Pugh.

Mrs. Moore was born Aug. 13, 1915, the daughter of Deltia (Brock) and Calvin Smith.

Daul H. Brown Sr., 70, of Hopewell, VA, passed away Aug. 9, 2005. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 12, at Nelsen Funeral Home-Gould Chapel of Hopewell, VA, with the Rev. Edward Bellis officiating. Interment will be in Southlawn Memorial Park.
Mr. Brown was a 1st sergeant in the Army, serving in Korea and Vietnam. After retiring from the military, he was self-employed as a building contractor.

Ledford Ray Houston, 71, of Crossville, passed away Aug. 1, 2005. Funeral services were conducted Aug. 3, with Bro. Steve Watts officiating. Music was provided by Hillview Church of Christ from Murfreesboro. Burial was in Linary Cemetery.
Mr. Houston was born April 17, 1934 in Cumberland County, the son of John C. and Maude Stone Houston.
He was a carpenter and a member of the Church of Christ 127 South. He loved the church and the Lord with all his heart and he expressed his faith each day, showing love and kindness to his family and friends. His family was very important to him and his love for them is everlasting. He loved helping people in any way he could. He also enjoyed mowing his lawn and working in his garden, always sharing his harvest with others.
Survivors include his faithful and devoted daughter and son-in-law, Lisa and Michael Massingill of Crossville; loving daughter, Susie Houston of Crossville; brothers, Jay Houston and Jerry Houston of Crossville; sister, Myrtle Hale of Crossville; and special friends, Kelly, Jordan and Valerie Pickett of Crossville.

Twyla Elizabeth "Betsy" Rachal, of Nashville, passed away Aug. 8, 2005. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 13, from the chapel of Bilbrey Funeral Home, with the Rev. Faye Tucker officiating. Interment will be in Crossville City Cemetery. The family will receive friends two hours prior to the service.
Ms. Rachal was born Sept. 3, 1977, in Casa Grande, AZ. She was the daughter of John and Jennifer Stites of Crossville and Darian Rachal of Alexandria, LA.
She was a 1995 high honors graduate of Cumberland County High School. She was a member of the National Honor Society and a piccolo player in the CCHS marching band under the direction of Steve Tinnel.
In 1999, she graduated <I>cum laude <I>with a B.A. in psychology from David Lipscomb University in Nashville. She was a member of Psi Sigma Social Club, Alpha Kappa Psi Business Fraternity and Psi Chi Psychology Honorary Fraternity. She was also a residence hall advisor at David Lipscomb.
She was a licensed financial securities broker's assistant at Banc of America Investments in Nashville.
Recently, she had completed her second Country Music Half Marathon, shaving 20 minutes off her time last year, and was on the 2005 volunteer board for the Drew Bennett Foundation Fundraiser to support researching a cure for cerebral palsy.
She was a follower of Jesus Christ, without compromise and without apology.

Mrs. Bass was the eldest of 10 children and had lived a full life and was always ready to share a smile.

Virginia D. V. Kramer
Sept. 3, 1926 - Aug. 6, 2005

Virginia Ducey Vandewater Kramer died peacefully in her home on August 6, 2005 at the age of 78. She was the fourth child of Edward Joseph Ducey and Eula Bishop Ducey, a well-loved and long-time resident of Crossville who died a decade ago at the age of 100. Virginia's grandparents, Seward Comstock Bishop and Eva Cline Bishop, helped to found the Crossville Chronicle, and her great-grandparents, Samuel Cline and Eva Marie Cline, helped to develop the town in the 1800s.
Virginia is survived by her sister, Mary Crabtree, who along with Mary's deceased husband, Paul Crabtree, founded the Cumberland County Playhouse, which is now run by their son, Jim. Her brothers, Dr. James Ducey, Thomas Ducey and David Ducey (also of Crossville), are deceased.
Virginia was born on Sept. 3, 1926 in Sewickley, PA, and spent many summers as a child in Crossville with her grandparents. She moved to New York City to live with Mary and Paul Crabtree where she met and married one of Paul's fraternity brothers, John I. "Dutch" Vandewater who worked in chemical sales in NYC when the family resided in Manhasset, Long Island and later Wilton, CT.
The Vandewaters had four children, John, Gretchen, Heidi and Edward.
Virginia was an active volunteer in the Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, Community Hospital Auxiliary, taught Sunday school and ran bazaars at Christ Episcopal Church. She was also a generous benefactor to many organizations and many, many individuals in need.
The Vandewaters retired to Sawgrass in Ponte Vedra, FL where Dutch died in 1984. Three years later, Virginia married William Kramer, a long-time friend from Manhasset, NY and spent several years in his home in Palm Beach, FL before settling finally in Crossville in the late 1980s.
Virginia is survived by her husband, Bill, and his son Bruce, from Baltimore; her four children, 12 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; her sister, Mary, and numerous nieces and nephews.
She will be cremated and a memorial service is planned for Sept. 4 at the Kramers' home and graveside. The night before her death, having just been released from the hospital, Virginia and Bill visited with many friends and family, and as Bill puts it, "It was one of the highlights of our marriage."

Barbara B. Myers

Barbara Burr (Miller) Myers, 89, of Fairfield Glade, passed away Aug. 3, 2005. Funeral services were held Aug. 8 at Fairfield Glade United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Max Mayo and the Rev. Lanita Pride officiating. Interment was in White Chapel Memorial Cemetery in Troy, MI.
Mrs. Myers was born June 25, 1916, in Pontiac, MI, the daughter of Marguerite (Sievers) and Clinton Miller Sr.
She was a homemaker and a member of Fairfield Glade United Methodist Church.

She loved entertaining and always had people visiting in her home. She also loved to cook and bake. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother and will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Mrs. Herman was born April 1, 1921, in Mount Healthy, OH, the daughter of Lillian (Dysert) and Harrison Wyatt.
She was an active member of Bethlehem Baptist Church and helped set up the church library. She visited shut-ins and was a member of the Home Demonstration Club. She was also a retired federal employee.

Richard Curtiss Patterson, 79, of Fairfield Glade, passed away July 29, 2005. Memorial services were conducted Aug. 3 from the chapel of Hood Funeral Home, with Sister Molly Keith officiating and special music by Steve Wilson. A memorial service will also be held in Michigan at a later date.
Mr. Patterson was born June 9, 1926 in Shepherd, MI, the son of Clare L. and Roselle K. Curtiss Patterson.
He was retired as owner of Shults Equipment Sales and Service and was a U.S. Navy veteran, having served during World War II and Korea. He was also a member of United Methodist Church in Ithaca, a lifelong member of the Elks, a member of VFW and the Grady Group. He had many hobbies which included playing golf, cards and collecting old coins. He will always be remembered for his unique and wonderful sense of humor and the interesting and funny stories he loved to tell.

Jerry Lee Stafford, 53, of Crossville, passed away Aug. 1, 2005. Funeral services were conducted Aug. 3 from the chapel of Crossville Memorial Funeral Home, with Jason Ayers officiating. Burial was held Aug. 4 in Millstone Cemetery.
Mr. Stafford was born May 29, 1952 in Cumberland County, the son of James Albert and Betty Ruth Bice Stafford.
He was self-employed and worked in a rock quarry.
Survivors include his wife, Linda Kilby Stafford; son, Anthony Stafford; daughter, Tina Bramblett; grandchildren, James, Tiffany and Brittany Bramblett; brothers, Earl, John, Dewey and Larry Stafford; and sisters, Mary Kimbell and Nancy Kilby.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Michael Stafford.
Pallbearers were David Kilby, Robert Kilby, Stanley Kilby, Ronnie Pugh, Chris Stafford, Josh Stafford, Bert Kerley and Eddie Kerley.

Kenwood Alwin Hanson, 84, of Crossville, passed away July 30, 2005. A memorial service will be held at a later date at Fairfield Glade Community Church.
Mr. Hanson was born Aug. 22, 1920, in Florham Park, NY, the son of Pearl (Engel) and Arthur Hanson Sr.
He was a member of the Fairfield Glade Community Church. He served in the United States Army during World War II.
Survivors include his daughters, Christine Kaufman of Princeton Junction, NJ, Barbara Lorenz of Park Ridge, NJ and Laurie Hanson of Mount Pelier, VT; daughter-in-law, Kate Gavin of Shelburne, VT; brother, Donald Hanson of Pinehurst, NC; and seven grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Doris (Rogers) Hanson; son, Richard Hanson; and brother, Arthur Hanson Jr.

Josie Adel (Howard) Human, 83, of Crossville, formerly of Morgan County, passed away Aug. 2, 2005. Graveside services were conducted Aug. 4 in Bethel Cemetery, Deer Lodge, with Bro. Wayne Mathews officiating.
Mrs. Human was the daughter of James Ola Howard and Louverna Cox Howard; and the wife of Onie Lee Human Sr. She was the mother of nine children and had 14 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, one great-great-granddaughter, four stepdaughters, several step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren.
Survivors include her sons and daughter-in-law, Onie Lee and Janie Human Jr. and William Wiley Howard, all of Mossy Grove; daughters and sons-in-law, Freda Sue and George Simec of Rockwood, Betty Jo and Gerald Williams of Crossville, Donna and Roy Cooper of Clarkrange and Cindy and Wendell Atkinson of Crossville; stepdaughters, Doris of Chattanooga and Mazell Tompkins of Deer Lodge; brothers, William (Bill) Howard, John Howard and Jack Howard, all of Crossville; and sister-in-law, Ruby Howard.
She was preceded in death by her daughters, Bernice Evelyn, Frankie Marie and Wilma Jean McCartt; brothers, Henry Howard, Jimmy Howard and Bobby Howard; sisters, Shirly Lark and Betty Adams; and stepdaughters, Ruby Brown and Ruth Taylor.

James E. Roysdon
Dec. 28, 1922 - July 30, 2005

James Elmer Roysdon, 82, of Crossville, passed away July 30, 2005. Graveside services were conducted Aug. 3 at Big Lick Cemetery. Donnie Brown officiated.
Mr. Roysdon was born Dec. 28, 1922 in Monticello, KY, the son of Chistly and Ellen Terry Roysdon.
He worked in the timber business before retiring.
Survivors include his wife, Frances Blaylock Roysdon of Crossville; children, J.D., Bob, Don, Dale, Billy Joe, Ikey Roysdon and Janice Monday Bowermaster, all of Crossville; 15 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents.

Mary B. Sherrill, 99, of Manchester, TN, formerly of Crossville, passed away July 29, 2005. Funeral services were conducted Aug. 1 from the chapel of Hood Funeral Home, with burial in Haley's Grove Cemetery. Bro. Todd McDonald officiated.
Mrs. Sherrill was born May 31, 1906 in Cumberland County, the daughter of Walter and Betty Hedgecoth Barnwell.
She was a homemaker and was of the Baptist faith. She loved gardening, crocheting and watching television, especially the Atlanta Braves baseball games.
Survivors include her daughter, Ila Ree Holt of Manchester; brother, Walter Barnwell of Crossville; sisters, Hazel Sloan of Cleveland, OH and Pauline Scott of Crossville; grandchildren, Wayne Sells of Fort Knox, KY, Darlene Nunley of Manchester and Marlene Pruitt of Toccoa, GA; 10 great-grandchildren; 13 great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Major Sherrill; great-great-granddaughters, Connie Hale and Brittany Cobb; four brothers and four sisters.

Buddy L. Underwood
March 8, 1931 - July 31, 2005

Buddy Lee Underwood, 74, of Pleasant Hill, passed away July 31, 2005. Funeral services were conducted Aug. 3 at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. The Rev. Butch Stapleton officiated, with special music by Gloria O'Neal and Mike McCoy. Burial was in Old Pleasant Hill Cemetery with full military honors provided by the Veterans Honor Guard.
Mr. Underwood was born March 8, 1931 in Marion, IN.
He was a Christian and a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. He was a devoted and faithful husband and a wonderful father, respected and loved by all of his children. He was a Vietnam veteran, serving in the U.S. Navy for 25 years. He served in VP Squadrons with P3 Aircraft and also in several HS Squadrons (helicopters). He was stationed aboard the USS America, completing several Mediterranean cruises. He also served on board the USS Enterprise during her maiden voyage (world cruise). He retired from the Navy as Chief Petty Officer. After retiring from the military, he went to work with Tario, LLC where he played an instrumental part in the construction of the Navy Tactical Submarine Base in Kings Bay, GA.
Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Molly June Underwood; children, Matthew Underwood, Mark Underwood, Barbara Lee Underwood, Buddy Lee Underwood Jr., Tracey June (Underwood) Crane, Elisabeth Marie (Underwood) Spivey, Benjamin I. Underwood and Betty Jean (Underwood) Monday; 13 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Matt Underwood, Mark Underwood, Buddy Underwood Jr., Ben Underwood, Vince Crane, Bud Monday, Eddie Monday and Buddy Underwood III.

Esther M. Hedgecoth
April 15, 1917 - July 31, 2005

Esther Marie Hedgecoth, of Crossville, passed away July 31, 2005. Funeral services were conducted Aug. 3 at 1 p.m. from the chapel of Bilbrey Funeral Home, with Dr. David Wilkerson officiating. Interment was in Crossville City Cemetery.
Ms. Hedgecoth was born April 15, 1917, the daughter of Clyde and Siddie Roberts Hedgecoth.
A native of Crossville, she taught elementary school in Cumberland County for 11 years before moving to Nashville in 1952. A graduate of George Peabody College, she earned both a bachelor's and master's degree in early childhood education. She was curriculum editor of Preschool Publications at Baptist Sunday School Board (now known as Lifeway Christian Resources) until her retirement in 1978. Upon retirement, she became an active volunteer in the Nashville community, conducting tours at Belmont Mansion, doing clinical work for the American Red Cross and initiating volunteer services in the pediatric unit at Baptist hospital, which she led for five years. She was a tireless proponent of all educational endeavors and devoted her life to both the academic and spiritual education of children through both her work and her example.
Marie was an active member of Immanuel Baptist Church in Nashville and worked with the preschoolers there for 25 years. In 2002, she moved back to Crossville and returned to First Baptist Church.
Survivors include her brother, Gordon Hedgecoth; nephew and niece, Nick and Verna Hedgecoth, all of the Homestead community; nephew, Ralph Hedgecoth of Florida; nieces, Linda Hedgecoth Berryman of Kentucky and Wanda Hedgecoth Klatte of Maryland; special namesakes, Angela Marie Ramey, Esther Lois Roberts and Anna Marie Burnett; as well as many other special relatives and life-long friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Benton.
In lieu of flowers, Ms. Hedgecoth asked that donations be made to the Homestead Elementary School, your favorite church or a charity of your choice.

Doyle Kerley
May 6, 1940 - July 28, 2005

Doyle Kerley, 65, of Crossville, passed away July 28, 2005. Funeral services were conducted July 30 from the chapel of Crossville Memorial Funeral Home, with burial in Linary Cemetery. Steve Taylor officiated.
Mr. Kerley was born May 6, 1940 in Cumberland County, the son of Roy and Mildred Hale Kerley.
He was a construction worker and of the Church of God faith.
Survivors include his wife, Nellie Kerley of Crossville; sons and daughters-in-law, Randall and Maria Kerley of Fayetville, NC, and Richard and Mary Kerley of Crossville; two grandsons, three granddaughters and one great-grandson; and brother and sister-in-law, Otis and Agness Kerley of Crossville.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Ken Kerley.
Pallbearers were Lowell Kerley, Clarence Houston, Rick Houston, Tim Kerley, Leon Brown and Larry Davidson.

James G. Ward
Jan. 17, 1925 - July 30, 2005

James Griffin "JG" Ward, 80, of Fairfield Glade, passed away July 30, 2005 after a valiant battle with cancer. He was born Jan. 17, 1925 in Alabama to Lula and Forrest S. Ward.
JG was a World War II veteran, serving in the 460th field artillery battalion and the 517th parachute regimental combat team. During this time, he fought in five major campaigns, jumping in the invasion of Southern France and also fighting in the Battle of the Bulge. For his service to his country, JG earned the Bronze Star and Good Conduct Medals.
He married Mary Ritchie on March 13, 1948. In 1950 he graduated from the University of Alabama with a Bachelor of Science degree in geology where he was a member of the Sigma Nu and Sigma Gamma Epsilon fraternities. JG served with the State Oil and Gas Board of Mississippi and later moved to Houston, Texas where he worked with Phillips Petroleum Company and Jack Colle and Associates as a micropaleontologist before retiring in 1994. During his career he was a member of the Houston Geological Society.
JG and Mary have been members of Memorial Drive Presbyterian Church since 1972.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years; son Steven and daughter-in-law Rhonda of Watauga, TX; daughter Shelley and late son-in-law Dr. Arthur L. Peiffer of Gunnison, CO; daughter Marianne and son-in-law Robert Haas and their children, Matthew and Andrew of Ft. Worth, TX; son Scott and daughter-in-law Kelli of Bloomington, IL; brother Bill and sister-in-law Cherry Anne of Athens, AL two nieces; five step-grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and many loving friends and associates.
He is preceded in death by his parents of Carrollton, Alabama, and his brother, Winston, of Durham, North Carolina.
A memorial service and celebration of his life will be held in the chapel of Memorial Drive Presbyterian Church, Houston, Texas, at 10 a.m. on Aug. 5, 2005. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests donations be made to Hospice of Cumberland County, 30 E. Adams St. Crossville, TN 38555, Tennessee or Houston Humane Society, Houston, TX.

Glen B. Bivens
Oct. 27, 1927 - July 28, 2005

Glen B. Bivens, 77, formerly of Crossville, passed away July 28, 2005 in Sarasota, FL. A memorial service was conducted Aug. 1 from the chapel of Hood Funeral Home. Gene Beasley, a long-time friend, officiated. Interment was in Green Acres Memory Gardens.
Mr. Bivens was born Oct. 27, 1927, in Vonore, TN, the son of Mike and Ruby Giles Bivens.
He served in the U.S. Army Air Force in the Philippines from December 1945 until November 1947. He retired in 1987 from the Miami Valley Construction Company, Dayton, OH, where he had worked as a carpenter for 18 years. He moved to Sarasota in 1995 and was a member of Bee Ridge Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Betty Jo Farmer Bivens; brothers, Ralph Bivens of Vonore and Roy Bivens of Crossville; and other family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Ray, who passed away in 1946. All of the brothers - Ray, Ralph, Roy and Glen - were in the military during the World War II era. Their father, Mike, served in the Army during World War I.
The Veterans Honor Guard served as pallbearers.

Aurora Flores, 53, of Crossville, passed away July 25, 2005. Funeral services were held July 28 from the chapel of Hood Funeral Home. Deacon Joe Solis officiated with burial in Crossville City Cemetery.
Ms. Flores was born Oct. 9, 1952, in Laredo, Mexico, the daughter of Oscar and Beatrice Salinas Flores.
She was a production worker at Flowers Baking Co. and attended St. Alphonsus Catholic Church. She was a loving and devoted mother who will be dearly missed by her children, family and friends.
Survivors include her son, Larry Toliver Jr. and fiancée, Jennifer Hardisty of Missouri. He is stationed at Whiteman Air Force Base in Knobnoster where he serves in Security Forces. She is also survived by her daughter, Alejandra Joann Toliver of Crossville; sister, Diane Hood of Crossville and former husband, Larry Toliver Sr. of Crossville.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Pallbearers were Tony Hall, Randell Farley, Jason Bayless, Tim Turner, Donnie Hood and Larry Toliver.

She was attending surgical technician school and clinicals at U.T. Hospital in Knoxville.

(Stephens) Huddleston of Jamestown; grandfather, J.R. Eunice A. (Wadsworth) Zacholl, 77, passed away July 24, 2005. A memorial service will be held in Syracuse, NY, with interment in White Chapel Memorial Gardens in Dewitt, NY.
Mrs. Zacholl was born Oct. 23, 1927, in Syracuse, NY, the daughter of Rhea (Thompson) and Alvin Wadsworth.
She was a librarian and of the Episcopal faith. She moved from Syracuse, NY, to Fairfield Glade in 1990.
Survivors include her daughter, Polly Zacholl of New York; son, Jeff Zacholl of New York; Renee Clayton, Bonnie Stockton, Linda Thomas and Maria Coulter.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry F. Zacholl; and Laurine Cardona Rose.
