ARLIS BREEDING
Arlis Breeding, 64, of Crossville, passed away July 22, 2000, in Cumberland Medical Center. Funeral services were conducted July 25 from the chapel of Bilbrey Funeral Home, with burial in Oak Hill Cemetery. Bro. Hank Jones officiated.
Mr. Breeding was born July 19, 1936, in Cumberland County, the son of Alonzo and Mabel Poston Breeding.
He was school bus driver.
Survivors include his wife, Connie Mays Breeding of Crossville; four sons, Jeff Breeding, Jon Breeding and Chris Breeding, all of Crossville, and Ricky Altum of Millstone Mountain, TN; two daughters, Rachel Hinch of Crossville and Susan Collins of Oakdale, TN; three brothers, Tommy Breeding, Jarrel Breeding and Rodney Breeding, all of Crossville; 10 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Alonzo and Mabel Breeding; his first wife, Venoy Breeding; a son, Darren Breeding; and a brother, Jerry Breeding.
Pallbearers were Dan Richards, Jack Daniel, Carl Gentry, Tony Findley, Stanley Watkins, Rick Davenport and Eugene Ogle.

ROSA EDNA CUNNINGHAM
Rosa Edna Cunningham, 90, of Crossville, passed away July 23, 2000, in Cumberland Medical Center. Funeral services were conducted July 25 from the chapel of Bilbrey Funeral Home, with burial in Green Acres Memory Gardens. Dr. James H. Beasley Jr. officiated, with special music by Willard and Charlotte McCormick and a solo of "Amazing Grace" by granddaughter, Cassie Dyer.
Mrs. Cunningham was born Sept. 3, 1909, in Meigs County, TN, the daughter of William Sanders and Julia Melissa Buttram Monroe.
She was a homemaker and a member of the Homesteads Baptist Church.
Survivors include her daughter, Ruth Walker of Crossville; sons, Don Cunningham and Jerry Cunningham, both of Crossville; 10 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde Cunningham; and two sons, Billy Cunningham and Bobby Lee Cunningham.
Pallbearers were Freddie Cox, Freddie Cox Jr., David Bilbrey, Sam Looper, Ralph Anderson, Larry Dyer and Miles Clark.

JOHN EMMETT SELBY
John "Jay" Emmett Selby, 83, of Crossville, passed away July 23, 2000, in Vencor Hospital in Chattanooga. Graveside services were conducted July 26 at the Crossville City Cemetery, with the Revs. Pete Ullmann and Mike Smathers officiating. "Amazing Grace" was sung by Brandon Lunsford.
Mr. Selby was born Dec. 4, 1916, in Cumberland County, the son of Emmett and Mamie Swafford Selby.
He was a farmer, and of the Protestant faith. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Survivors include his sisters, Ruth Perry and Ruby Selby, both of Crossville; brother, Ray Selby of Crossville; nephew Jerry Perry and his wife Peggy of Hixson, TN; great-nephew, Jason Perry; great-niece, Lora Perry; and one great-great-nephew, Dylan Lee Perry.
Pallbearers were Jerry Perry, Jason Perry, Brandon Lunsford, Russell Hinch, Jay Colton and Joel Colton.

JANET LOUISE SHIELDS
Janet Louise Shields, 56, of Huntsville, AL, passed away July 22, 2000. Funeral services were conducted July 26 from the chapel of Burris Funeral Home, with burial in Mayland Cemetery. The Rev. Roger Sickmiller officiated.
Mrs. Shields was born March 23, 1944, at Warner-Robbins Air Force Base, GA, the daughter of George and Florence Gelo Spooner.
She was a homemaker and secretary, and of the Presbyterian faith.
Survivors include her husband, Lysle Shields of Huntsville; daughters, Tammy O'Brien and Rebecca Elaine Shields, both of Huntsville; son, Lysle E. Shields III of Huntsville; sister, Marcie Bailey of Mayland; half-brother, Lynn Cunningham of Escondido, CA; and four grandsons.
She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Florence Spooner.
Pallbearers were Lysle E. Shields III, Neil Siconolfi, Bill Irwin, P.J. Gaddis, Tim O'Brien and Greg Haas.

OWEN BARNETT
Owen Barnett, 66, of Hopewell, VA, passed away July 17, 2000. Funeral services were conducted July 20 at Gould Funeral Home in Hopewell, with interment in Appomattox Cemetery with full military honors.
Mr. Barnett was retired from the U.S. Army and was the recipient of the Bronze Star, the Meritorious Service medal and various other medals.
Survivors include three daughters, Debbie C. Rogers, Diane S. Jones and Connie L. Pierre; two sons, Robert D. Barnett and Christopher S. Barnett; two brothers, Carl Barnett and Ernest Barnett; three sisters, Christine Saylor, Mildred Sisco and Noahlene Armstrong; and three grandchildren, Roy Lee Rogers, Joshua Owen Rogers and Kyle Jordan Rogers.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Christa S. Barnett, formerly of Crossville.

RET. LT. COLONEL J.W. MANKIN
Ret. Lt. Colonel J.W. Mankin, 78, of Antioch, TN, formerly of Crossville, passed away July 23, 2000, at the VA Hospital in Nashville, TN. A memorial service will be conducted Thursday, July 27, at 2 p.m. at the First Congregational Church in Cookeville, TN, with John Huestis officiating. Burial will be July 28 at 10 a.m. in the Middle Tennessee Veterans Cemetery in Nashville.
Visitation will be Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Woodfin Chapel in Smyrna, TN.
Lt. Col. Mankin was born July 16, 1922, in Davidson County, the son of the late Jasper William and Lyda Bell Wilder Mankin.
He was retired from the U.S. Army, having served during World War II and the Korean War. He was an Army chaplain for 16 years, and a minister of the Church of Christ nationwide for many years. He established a relief organization to help support the Amerasian children who were left behind when Clark Air Force Base in the Philippines was closed.
Survivors include his wife, Phyllis Morningstar Mankin of Antioch; children, Susan Sparks of Atlanta, GA, and Nadia Craig of Christiana, TN, Tommy Mankin of Virginia Beach, VA, Joe Morrison and John Morrison, both of Oklahoma City, OK, and James Morrison of Menlo Park, CA; brothers, Clif Mankin of Woodbury, TN, and Lonnie Mankin of Tucker, GA; sisters, Elsie Ragsdale of West Point, GA, Kay Ferrell of Smyrna and Billie Wilson of Nashville; and eight grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Karl Mankin.

PAULINE ELENOR PELFREY
Pauline Elenor Pelfrey, 78, of Crossville, passed away July 19, 2000, in Cumberland Medical Center. Funeral services were conducted July 22 from the chapel of Bilbrey Funeral Home, with burial in Haley's Grove Cemetery. Bros. Terry Bear and George Bryant Sr. officiated, with special music by Deena Moore and Suzanne Keeler.
Mrs. Pelfrey was born Aug. 20, 1921, in White County, the daughter of Dan and Anna Belle Dabbis Bryant.
She was a homemaker, and of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include her son, Bobby Hedgecoth of Crossville; daughters, Ruby Tabor, Lucille Frady and Rose Poore, all of Crossville; stepsons, Ray Pelfrey, Walter Pelfrey and Ralph Pelfrey, all of Crossville; brother, J.T. Bryant of Knoxville; sister, Anna Mae Carr of Knoxville; 11 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Gladys Lewis; and two husbands, Ed Hedgecoth and Garland Pelfrey.
Pallbearers were Jason Frady, Keith Poore, Ray Pelfrey, Ralph Pelfrey, Steve Davis, Charlie Hemphill, Josh Kerley and Justin Tabor.

WILLIAM EDWARD STONE
William "Bill" Edward Stone, 57, of Smyrna, formerly of Crossville, passed away July 21, 2000, at Middle Tennessee Medical Center in Murfreesboro. Funeral services were conducted July 23 from the chapel of Bilbrey Funeral Home, with burial in Davis Cemetery. Bro. Leslie Hickey officiated.
Mr. Stone was born Oct. 31, 1942, in Cumberland County, the son of Emerson and Minnie Brewer Stone.
He was a factory worker for Alladin Industries, and of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include his sons, Jeff Stone of Laverne, TN and Stoney Stone of Nashville; sisters, Doris Shrum and Dorothy Boniol, both of Crossville; granddaughter, Samantha Jean Baggett of Pleasantview, TN; grandson, Julian Michael Houston of Nashville; and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were Jimmy Boniol, J.T. Boniol, Tony Boniol, Ray Boniol, Randy Shrum and Kim Simmons.
Honorary pallbearer was Doug Blaylock.

MARGARET MARY HALLIHAN
Margaret Mary Hallihan, 98, of Crossville, passed away July 17, 2000.
Ms. Hallihan was born Jan. 19, 1902, in New Britain, CT, the daughter of Simon Lawrence and Mary Bradley Hallihan.
She was a secretary, and she was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church.
Survivors include seven nieces and nephews, Patricia Prchlik, Barbara Jordan, Carol Boulanger, Thomas Hallihan, James Hallihan, Bradley Hallihan and Joseph Hallihan.

KEREN NORENE PERKINS
Keren Norene Perkins, an infant, of Crossville, passed away July 16, 2000, at Erlanger Children's Hospital in Chattanooga, TN. Graveside services were conducted July 19 at Babyland Cemetery, with the Rev. Larry Dillard officiating.
Keren was born July 16, 2000, in Crossville, the daughter of Berne and Esther Todd Perkins.
Survivors include her parents, Berne and Esther Perkins of Crossville; two brothers and one sister, Caleb Daniel Perkins, Derrin Nathaniel Perkins and Kayla Elizabeth Perkins, all of Crossville; grandparents, Danny Abshire of Lake Panasoski, FL, Jane Perkins and Paul Perkins, both of Rockwood, TN, and James and Sylvia Goodrick of Coal Valley, IL.

WILLIE RAY SHELTON
Willie Ray Shelton, 77, of Mayland, passed away July 20, 2000, at Cumberland Medical Center. Funeral services were conducted July 23 from the chapel of Goff Funeral Home in Monterey, TN. The Rev. J.C. Ford officiated. Interment was in Mayland Cemetery with full military honors by the Monterey VFW Post.
Mr. Shelton was born May 2, 1923, in Overton County, TN, the son of the late Irvin Emerson and Mary Belle Swallows Shelton.
He was a well driller, a school bus driver and a farmer, and was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include his wife, Geneva Shelton of Mayland; son, Kenneth Ray Shelton of Cookeville, TN; daughters and sons-in-law, Debra and John Brown of Mayland, and Kathrine and Donny Baisley, Sandra and Danny Brown, Mary and Danny Brewer and Eva and Danny Baisley, all of Crossville; sister, Bonnie Smiddie of Crossville; 19 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Marie Brown Shelton; brothers, James Melvin Shelton and Haskel Owen Shelton; and sisters, Effie Shelton, Dollie Clark, Myrtle Shelton, Ernal Hooten, Bethel Walker, Della Roberson and Shirley Wright.

HERMAN ALLAN BURTON
Herman Allan Burton, 89, of the Homesteads community, passed away July 14, 2000. Funeral services were conducted July 16 from the chapel of Bilbrey Funeral Home, with burial in Quarles-Burton Cemetery in Putnam County, TN. Dr. Dan D. Haskins Jr. officiated, with special music by Carol Smith and Ed Cagle.
Mr. Burton was born Feb. 17, 1911, in Putnam County, the son of Alexander Officer and Lou Ella Quarles Burton.
He was a grocer and co-owner of Burton and Huddleston grocery store in the Homesteads, and he was a member of Homesteads Baptist Church. Mr. Burton and his wife Fannie Lue were original Homesteaders, who came to Cumberland County in 1935.
Survivors include his wife, Fannie Lue Huddleston Burton of Homesteads; four sons, Bob Burton and Jack Burton, both of Fort Wayne, IN, Tom Burton of Suwanee, GA, and Jim Burton of Roswell, GA; daughter, Kay Eastman of Knoxville, TN; 11 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Grace Carmack and Mary Bilbrey; and four brothers, Fred Burton, Steve Burton, Ernest Burton and Victor Burton.
Pallbearers were members of the Methuselah Sunday school class, Everett Calahan, Hassell York, Bruce Howard, Joel Green, Gene Turner and Danny Hassler; and grandsons, Brig Eastman and Kenneth Burton.

JESSE LEWIS
Jesse "Irene" Lewis, 83, of Crossville, passed away July 15, 2000, at home. Funeral services were conducted July 17 from the chapel of Burris Funeral Home, with burial in Smith Chapel Cemetery. Thomas Hale officiated, with special music by Judy Waldo.
Ms. Lewis was born May 25, 1917, in Polk County, TN, the daughter of William McKinley and Ida McDougal Hawkins.
She was a homemaker, and she was a member of Stanley Street Church of God.
Survivors include her daughters, Margaret Ann Moore, Barbara Sue Spivey, Carolyn Kay Bell, Judy Darlin Harrington and Shelia Loren Barnes; sons, Thomas Eugene Fish, David Lee Fish and Paul Leslie Fish; sisters, Helen Hicks, Louise Ash, Frances Stealy and Marie Andersen; brother, Tommy Hawkins; 41 grandchildren; 54 great-grandchildren; 12 great-great-grandchildren.

Salla Faye Pruett, 58, of Crossville, passed away July 16, 2000, in Cumberland Medical Center. Funeral services were conducted July 18 at Crossville Memorial Funeral Home, with burial in Green Acres Memory Gardens. Danny Bell officiated.
Mrs. Pruett was born Nov. 26, 1941, in Overton County, TN.
She was a homemaker.
Survivors include her husband, Frank Morris Pruett of Crossville; daughters and sons-in-law, Tammy and James Anthony Ash of Crossville, and Alicia and Robin E. Wilson of Lebanon, TN; mother, Katy Kirby of Livingston, TN; brothers, Robert Kirby of Gallatin, TN, Glen Kirby of Charlotte, TN, and Jack Kirby of Livingston; sisters, Elizabeth Cobble of Anderson, IN, Louise Johnson of Lakewells, FL, and Billie Masters of Livingston; and grandson, Andrew Ash of Crossville.

GLADYS GREEN
Gladys Green, 73, of Mayland, passed away July 13, 2000, at the Wharton Nursing Home in Pleasant Hill. Funeral services were conducted July 17 from the chapel of Goff Funeral Home in Monterey, TN, with interment in Oak Grove Cemetery in Rockwood, TN. The Rev. J.C. Ford officiated.
Mrs. Green was born April 30, 1927, in Barberton, OH, the daughter of the late John Gilbert and Winnie Bryant Bohannon.
She was a homemaker, and she was a member of Mayland Nazarene Church.
Survivors include her daughter, Brenda Sherrill of Mayland; brother, David Earl Bohannon of Ohio; sisters, Reba Phillips and Annette Bohannon, both of Monterey, Mary Turner of Algood, TN, Irene Burgess of Mayland and Judy Turner of North Ridgeville, OH; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Gordon L. Green.

ARLIE LAWSON JR.
Arlie Lawson Jr., 66, of Fairfield Glade, passed away July 11, 2000, in Cookeville (TN) Regional Medical Center. Funeral services were conducted July 14 from the chapel of Bilbrey Funeral Home, with burial in Green Acres Memory Gardens. The Rev. Gary Hanson officiated, with special music by Ed and Annette Swallow and Darrell and Wanda Webb.
Mr. Lawson was born June 26, 1934, in Cincinnati, OH, the son of Arlie Sr. and Laura Cook Lawson.
He was a quality supervisor for Monsanto. He was a member of Trinity Tabernacle and a Shriner. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War.
Survivors include his wife, Anna Rosenbalm Lawson of Fairfield Glade; three sons, Bob Lawson-Thackrah of California, Edward Browning of Columbus, OH, and James Browning of Jacksonville, FL; two daughters, Penny Riley and Missy Wolfe, both of Carlisle, OH; nine grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Bobby Lawson.

DELBERT EUGENE PRICKETT
Delbert Eugene Prickett, 78, of Crossville, passed away July 14, 2000, at Country Place Health Care. Funeral services will be conducted today, July 18 at 7:30 p.m. from the chapel of Burris Funeral Home. Pete Ullmann will officiate, with special music by the Chuck Wagon Gang. Burial will be at 11 a.m. July 21 at Odd Fellow Cemetery in Blanchester, OH.
Mr. Prickett was born Sept. 5, 1922, in Blanchester, the son of Franklin and Pearl Grim Prickett.
He was a personnel recruiter for Goodyear Atomic Corp. He was a member of Big Lick Presbyterian Church, Blanchester Masonic Lodge and Chattanooga Scottish Rite Consistery.
Survivors include his wife, Ann Prickett of Crossville; son, Dan Prickett of Atlanta, GA; daughter, Rebecca Prickett of Salem, OR; and three grandchildren.

PATRICIA ROSE
Patricia Rose, 74, of Monterey, TN, passed away July 13, 2000, at home. Graveside funeral services were conducted July 17 at the Phillips Cemetery in the Anderson community. The Rev. R.C. Maples officiated.
Mrs. Rose was born June 28, 1926, in Detroit, MI, the daughter of the late Erwin A. and Elsie H. Liebig Kruse.
She was a homemaker, and of the Lutheran faith.
Survivors include her husband, Jack Rose of Monterey; three daughters, Carol Rose of Arlington, VA, Sandra Austin of Cookeville, TN, and Dee Reeves of Monterey; two sons, John Rose of Lapeer, MI, and Michael Rose of Crossville; two brothers, John K. Kruse of California and Dr. Robert Kruse of Chagrin Falls, OH; 13 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, Robert D. Hazard; sister, Lois R. Mroseske; and two brothers, Erwin Kruse Jr. and Richard W. Kruse.

WILLA JUNE SHERRILL
Willa June Sherrill, 54, of Crossville, passed away July 11, 2000, in Cumberland Medical Center. Graveside services were conducted July 13 at the Crossville City Cemetery. The Rev. Russell Honeycutt officiated.
Mrs. Sherrill was born July 27, 1945, in Cumberland County, the daughter of Ernest and Ruth Thompson Jenkins.
She was an ultrasound technician, and she was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include her husband, Wayne Sherrill of Crossville; son and daughter-in-law, Tony and Keitha Sherrill of Crossville; stepgrandson, Dalton; her mother; one sister; four brothers; and special friends.
Pallbearers were Sam Looper, Steve Hamby, Darren Boring, Rick Seiber, Charles Seiber and Kenneth Young.

SYLVIA KATHLEAN WELLS
Sylvia Kathlean Wells, 33, of Chattanooga, passed away July 8, 2000, in Erlanger Hospital. Funeral services were conducted July 11 from the chapel of Bilbrey Funeral Home, with burial in Green Acres Memory Gardens. Bro. Brian Smith officiated.
Ms. Wells was born Aug. 6, 1966, in Crossville, the daughter of Roger Lee Wells and Patricia Selvage Wells Eldridge.
She was a clerk, and she was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include her mother, Pat Eldridge of Chattanooga; one brother, Steven K. Wells of Chattanooga; stepfather, Kenneth Eldridge of Chattanooga; grandmother, Edith Wells of Daytona Beach, FL; and two stepsisters, Vicky Eldridge of Crossville and Sarah Wells of Daytona Beach.
Pallbearers were Paul Palacio, Kurt Hall, Jay Miller, Tim Salmon, Mike Miller and Scott Bruno.

OLLIE LOU "PAT" BEATY
Ollie Lou "Pat" Beaty, 56, of Crossville, passed away July 4, 2000, at home. Funeral services were conducted July 6 from the chapel of Bilbrey Funeral Home, with burial in Hedgecoth Cemetery. Bros. Clayton Padgett and Blaine Hedgecoth officiated.
Mrs. Beaty was born Dec. 24, 1943, in Cumberland County, the daughter of William and Eliza Etta Hedgecoth Watson.
She was a stockperson, and she was of the Baptist faith. She was a Hospice patient.
Survivors include her husband, Larry Beaty of Crossville; daughter and son-in-law, Loretta and Hugh Goss of Crossville; son and daughter-in-law, Tommy and Denise Beaty of Crossville; brother, Paul Watson of Crossville; sisters, Willene Hamby and Brenda Houston, both of Crossville; and four grandchildren, Marlena Dixon, Jessica Goss, Chase Beaty and Allison Beaty.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Eliza Etta Hedgecoth Watson; and a sister, Sarah Linda Watson.
Pallbearers were Jonathan Beaty, Steve Hamby, Ronnie Hamby, Dale Watson, Billy Houston, Gary King, Gentry Beaty and Nathaniel Beaty.

ROGER C. MAHANEY
Roger C. Mahaney, 65, Crossville, passed away July 3, 2000, in Cumberland County. Funeral services were held July 5 with Billy Smith and Randy Roberts officiating. Interment was in Mayland Cemetery.
He is survived by his wife, Burlene Mahaney; daughters Melanie Mahaney and Candance Holt, and son-in-law Brad Holt; mother Willie Maxine Mahaney; sister Charlotte Smith; brothers Ernest, Estes, David, Everett and James Mahaney; and granddaughter Celsey Holt.
He was born in Cumberland County June 27, 1935. He was a school bus driver and was self-employed.
Pallbearers were Shane Bailey, Adam Mahaney, Robert Kirkman, Glenn Rogers, Randy Smith and Mark Read. Honorary pallbearer was Tim Hicks.

MELVIN E. MAST
Melvin E. Mast, 59, of Crossville, passed away at Cumberland Medical Center on July 12, 2000. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 15, at 9:30 a.m. at Mt. Moriah Mennonite Church, of which he was a member.
He was the owner of Mast Utility Barns near Mayland.
Mr. Mast was born Feb. 7, 1941 to Anna and the late Eli A. Mast in Walnut Creek, OH.

Mr. Carter was born July 19, 1925, in Knox County, TN, the son of Floyd Marshall and Lyda Mae Craig Carter.
He was a welder, and he served in the U.S. Army during World War II and the Korean War.
Survivors include his daughters and sons-in-law, Susan and Elbert Pugh, Kathern and Joe Wood and Cookie Carter, all of Crossville; sons and daughters-in-law, Jerry and Diane Carter of Cookeville, TN, and Robert and Nancy Carter of Crossville; brother, William Carter of Knoxville, TN; 17 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.

Mr. Cross was born Jan. 11, 1908, in Flora, IL, the son of James Carl and Carrie B. Price Cross.
He was a research chemist for Bayer Corp. He was a member of Fairfield Glade Community Church and the Fairfield Glade Lions Club.
Survivors include his wife, Jean Cross of Fairfield Glade; sons, James A. Alma Constance Dec, 46, of Priest River, ID, passed away July 6, 2000. A memorial service will be conducted Tuesday, July 18 at 6:30 p.m. at Stevens Street Baptist Church in Cookeville, TN. Pastor Jimmy Arms will officiate.
Mrs. Dec was born April 26, 1954, in Memphis, TN, the daughter of the late James and Mary Myers.
She was a special education teacher for 23 years, teaching in Crossville, Sevierville, TN, and Priest River.
Survivors include her husband, Peter Dec; two daughters, Leiloni and Tiffany; one son, Elijah; two brothers, Tony Myers and Rony Myers, both of Cookeville; and one grandson, Taylor.
She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Mary Myers; and one sister, Pamala Lynn Myers.

Mr. Fitzgerald was born Aug. 18, 1921, in Crab Orchard, the son of E.L. and Chloe Violett Fitzgerald.
He was a railroad worker for Speno, and he was of the Baptist faith. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Inus Lowery Fitzgerald of Crossville; daughter, Sharon Tharp of Crossville; two sons, Gene Fitzgerald and Jeff Fitzgerald, both of Crossville; brother, Kyle Fitzgerald of Crossville; and five grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Richard Fitzgerald; and a sister, Christine Smith.

Louis "Dutch" Williams, 92, of Rockwood, TN, passed away July 9, 2000 at home. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, July 15 at 2 p.m. at Llewellyn Funeral Home in Jellico, TN, with burial in Jellico Cemetery. The Rev. David Gould will officiate.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday and from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
Mr. Williams, a native of Jellico, retired from General Motors in 1972. He was a Master Mason and a lifetime deacon of Linden Ave. Baptist Church in Dayton, OH, where he and his wife Mary lived for 55 years. In recent years he made his home in Rockwood and attended the Church on Higher Ground.
Survivors include his daughter, Harriet E. Finley of Madera, CA; son and daughter-in-law, David and Darlene Williams of Rockwood; son, Robert Williams of Crab Orchard; 12 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Mary Kock Williams.

Charles Laverne Barnes, 75, of Fairfield Glade, passed away July 7, 2000, in University of Tennessee Hospital, Knoxville. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, July 12 at St. Vincent's Catholic Church with burial in Highland Park Cemetery, in Fort Wayne, IN.
Mr. Barnes was born Feb. 21, 1925, in Wilkes-Barre, PA, the son of Ernest and Marie Pyatt Barnes.
He was a bricklayer, and he was of the Catholic faith. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Erva Decker Barnes of Fairfield Glade; two sisters, Janice Castellani of Trucks, PA, and Esther Johnson of Live Oak, FL; two granddaughters, Cheryl Newbury of Angola, IN, and Michelle Newbury-Goodrich of Huntertown, IN; and two great-grandchildren, Logan and Lauren.

Mr. Hargis was born Aug. 20, 1922, in Overton County, the son of John and Maudy Mae Hargis.
He was a glass grinder, and he was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Air Force.

Arnold Buelow Riecks, 100, of Fairfield Glade, passed away July 1, 2000, in Cumberland Medical Center. Services will be held at a later date.
Mr. Riecks was born June 21, 1900, in Alpena, MI, the son of William and Augusta Buelow Riecks.
He was paymaster for the Ford Motor Co., and of the Methodist faith. He was a 32nd Degree Mason.
Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Ann and David St. Aubin of Fairfield Glade; son and daughter-in-law, James and Janet Riecks of Scottsdale, AZ; nephew, Newman Dawe and his wife Shirley of Grand Rapids, MI; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Katherine Cosbey Riecks; two brothers, William Riecks and Frank Riecks; and four sisters, Lillian Doyle, Mabel Tessmer, Edna Dawe and Ruth Stout.

Mrs. Sylvester was born May 29, 1912, in Abington, the daughter of the late Alton and Gertrude Mangan Hall.
She was an aide at Cape Cod Hospital in Cape Cod, MA, and was a member of the First Congregational Church of Yarmouthport, MA.
Survivors include her son, Carl Sylvester of Chelmsford.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Arnold F. Sylvester.

Marion Laurence Whiteside, 86, of Franklin, TN, formerly of Tansi Village, passed away July 3, 2000, in Nashville, TN. Mr. Whiteside was born April 27, 1914, in Rutherfordton, NC, the son of Marion H. and Lula Egerton Whiteside.
He was retired as a security chief from Maganov Corporation, and he was a member of Forrest Hills Methodist Church in Franklin.
Survivors include his son, Ralph Whiteside of Franklin; sister, Gertrude Sprinkle of Sun City, AZ; and granddaughters, Shannon Howell, Kara Williams, Elizabeth Sullivan, Allison Whiteside and Susan Whiteside.

Mr. Lester was born Sept. 10, 1923, in Logan, WV, the son of Max and Emma Perry Lester.

Marilyn Mardis Peterman, 74, of Fairfield Glade, passed away June 23, 2000, at Baptist Hospital in Nashville. Memorial services were conducted June 29 at Fairfield Glade Community Church.
Mrs. Peterman was born Aug. 9, 1925, in Columbus, OH, the daughter of Harold C. and Marie S. Mardis.
She grew up in Lincoln, NE, and she attended Lincoln High School and the University of Nebraska, where she was a member of Pi Beta Phi. She was a devoted wife and mother, a skilled artist, and a member of the Junior League of Nashville. She and her husband moved to Fairfield Glade in 1985.
Survivors include her daughter, Lynn Ann Peterman of Madisonville, LA; son, Gary Mardis Peterman of Seattle, WA; brother, Hal K. Mardis of Omaha, NE; sister, Gloria Mardis Beachly of Lincoln; and granddaughter, Orana Allen, and great-granddaughter, Morgan Allen, both of Covington, LA.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, George R. Peterman.

CAMILLE MARIE TRENTLE

Mrs. Trentle was born Nov. 20, 1941, in Hamtramck, MI.
She was a retired medical transcriptionist, and she was of the Catholic faith. She loved animals and supported the Humane Society.
