Eleanor Benton, 66, of Warren,
OH, formerly of Crossville, passed away Feb. 13, 2001. Funeral
services were conducted Feb. 17 from Staton Funeral Home in Warren,
with burial at Pineview Cemetery. Father Cromley officiated.
Mrs. Benton was born Aug. 4, 1934, in Cumberland County, the
daughter of Roy and Ollie Lewis Wilson.
She was a homemaker, and an active member of the Warren and Ashtabula
Club of the Deaf.
Survivors include her husband, Ray Benton of Warren; son, Raymond
Benton of Houston, TX; daughters, Patty Hivick of Tallmadge,
OH, Nancy Cochran of Warren, Carolyn Rinehart of Cortland, OH,
and Susan De Alessandro of Oklahoma City, OK; mother, Ollie Wilson
of Crossville; sisters, Amy Bolin of Elyria, OH, Uldean Stone
of Pikeville, TN, and Mary Tabor of Crossville; brothers, Paul
Wilson, Ronnie Wilson, Danny Wilson and Jerry Wilson, all of
Crossville; five grandchildren; and two step-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her father, Roy Wilson; and a brother,
Elbert Wilson.
Pallbearers were Roy Bolin, Greg Rinehart, Pat De Alessandro,
Raymond Benton, Paul Hivick and Toby McKendree.

Willis Dean Cox, 69, of Crossville,
passed away Feb. 22, 2001, at Cumberland Medical Center. Funeral
services were conducted Feb. 25 from the chapel of Bilbrey Funeral
Home, with burial at Crossville City Cemetery. The Rev. George
Long officiated.
Mr. Cox was born Sept. 26, 1931, in Cumberland County, the son
of Lawrence and Mary Tollett Cox.
He was a civil engineer for the Tennessee Department of Transportation,
a construction estimator for Charles B. Stephens Construction
Co. and president and co-owner of CHW Landscaping Inc. In 1985
he ran for mayor of Crossville and was elected to two terms.
He was a member of First Christian Church.
Survivors include his wife, Mamie Lou Sherrill Cox of Crossville;
daughters and sons-in-law, Cathy and Chet Parsons of Rockwood,
and Cindy and Brian Cooper of Crossville; brother, Bill Cox of
Crossville; sisters, Emily Goss of Crossville and Macel Ruderman
of Raleigh, NC; granddaughter and grandson-in-law, Andrea and
Chris Lauderdale of Knoxville, TN; and two great-grandchildren,
C.J. Lauderdale and Catie Lauderdale of Knoxville.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence and Mary Cox;
a son, Ronald Dean Cox; brothers, Clay Cox and Boyd Cox; and
a sister, Hazel Spurrier.

Mrs. Rowe was born March 9, 1914, in Jefferson County, TN, the
daughter of Noah and Melinda Shropshire Griffin.
She was a homemaker, and of the Baptist faith.

Elizabeth Baltimore, 98, of
Crossville, passed away Feb. 21, 2001. Funeral Mass was conducted

Church and Father Elias Sarkis, chaplain of Manor Care Nursing
Home in Decatur, GA, officiated.
Mrs. Baltimore was born March 28, 1902, in Glasgow, Scotland,
the daughter of Thomas and Jane Hodge Smith.
She was a homemaker, and a member of St. Alphonsus Catholic Church.
Survivors include her son, Tom Baltimore of Atlanta, GA; daughters,
Mary Helen Calahan of Crossville and Anna Grace Burton of Atlanta;
12 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William C. Baltimore;
daughter, Betty Jean Baltimore; and son, Bill Baltimore.

of Clarence and Irene Anguilm Beck.
She was a nurse, and a member of St. Alphonsus Catholic Church.

William Harold Goss, 87, of
Crossville, passed away Feb. 17, 2001. Funeral services were
conducted Feb. 21 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day
Saints, with burial at Green Acres Memory Gardens. Elders Jerry
Hassler and Roger Hyder officiated, with special music by Mr.
Goss' granddaughter, Abigail Lane, and his daughter, Vickie Hodge.
Invocation was by Harold Keagle; reading by his daughter, Frances
Threet; comments by Vickie Hodge; and benediction by Eula Keagle.
Elder Leslie Goss, Mr. Goss' nephew, officiated at the graveside
dedication.
Mr. Goss was born Nov. 19, 1913, in Cumberland County, son of
Zachariah and Frances Hamby Goss.
He was a retired building contractor in the Oak Ridge area, and
a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Survivors include his wife, Mildred Wilson Goss of Crossville;
daughters, Frances Threet and Vickie Hodge, both of Crossville,
and Sandra Kaye Goss of Knoxville, TN; brother, Donald B. Goss
of Crossville; sister, Mayme G. Pugmire of Ovid, ID; six grandchildren,
Morris Patton, Danny Harold Bilyeu and Abigail Bilyeu Lane, all
of Crossville, Rhonda Goss Michelson of California, and Cindy

GA, formerly of Fairfield Glade, passed away Feb. 23, 2001. Graveside

Mrs. Moss was born July 10, 1913, in Sheridan, IN.
She was employed by the U.S. government as a clerk/typist.
Survivors include her daughter, Leanne McCartt of Homer, AK;
son, John W. Moss of Marietta, GA; sister, Virginia Goebel of
Fairfield Glade; three grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren;
and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter L. Moss.

James Mote Jr., 70, of Crossville,
passed away Feb. 18, 2001. Funeral services were conducted Feb.

Mr. Mote was born Dec. 31, 1930, in Dahlonega, GA.
He was employed in process labor at Duffin Manufacturing Co.,
and was a member of the Dahlonega Church of God.

Roy Arthur Pugh, 77, of Crab
Orchard, passed away Feb. 17, 2001, at Cumberland Medical Center.

committal was held Feb. 20 at Haley's Grove Cemetery, with flag
presentation and Taps by the Fort Campbell Honor Guard.
Mr. Pugh was born March 21, 1923, in Cumberland County, the son
of Arthur and Jennie Roberts Pugh.
He was a carpenter, and of the Protestant faith. He was a U.S.
Army veteran of World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Irene Golliher Pugh of Crab Orchard;
son and daughter-in-law, Boyd and Shelda Pugh of Crab Orchard;
sisters, Christine Bilyeu and Lucille Redwine, both of Crossville;

Point community near Monterey, TN, passed away Feb. 19, 2001,
at Livingston Regional Hospital. Funeral services will be conducted

with burial at Tyler Point Cemetery. The Rev. Eugene McCowan

Mr. Hinson was born May 16, 1928, in Overton County, TN, the
son of George Lynn and Alice Harris Hinson.
He was a farmer and a retired school bus driver for the Overton
County School System, with 29 years of service. He was a member
of Tyler Point Freewill Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Jewell Phillips Hinson
of Tyler Point; daughters and sons-in-law, Pauline and Larry
Lowe of Crossville and Janice and Chris Brown of Tyler Point;

and Jacquie Mitchell. An Eastern Star service was performed after
the regular funeral services by Amanda Chapter No. 4 Order of
the Eastern Star in Crossville.
Mrs. Skidmore was born April 30, 1907, in Cumberland County,
the daughter of James A. and Minnie Green Hodge.
She was a homemaker, and a member of Broadway Baptist Church
in Knoxville. She was also a member of Kingston Chapter No. 405
Order of the Eastern Star, and was past matron of Amanda Chapter
No. 4 Order of the Eastern Star in Crossville.
Survivors include her daughters, Mary Hall of Kingston, TN, Margaret
Stewart of Knoxville, Faye Garrison of Crossville and Mona Hughes
of Powell, TN; brothers, Sam Hodge of Grandview, TN, and John

Claude Bowman, 80, of Roseville,
MI, passed away Feb. 17, 2001, at Erlanger Medical Center in

at 11 a.m. from the chapel of Goff Funeral Home in Monterey,
TN, with burial at Love Joy Cemetery. The Rev. Clayton Padgett

Mr. Bowman was born Jan. 24, 1921, in Overton County, TN, the
son of Walter Lee and Faith Masters Bowman.
He was a millwright, and a member of the Millwright Union Local
No. 1102 in Michigan. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War
II, and a past VFW post commander in Howard City, MI. He was
a commissioner of Roseville from 1950 to 1956.
Survivors include his sons, Lonnie J. Bowman of Warren, MI, and
John Claude Bowman Jr. of Columbus, OH; sister, Beryle Eaton
of Rockwood, TN; brothers, Ray Bowman of Rockwood and Walter
Bowman of Monterey; grandson, Robert John Bowman; and one great-grandson,
R.J. Bowman.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Edith Bowman and Helen
Eaton; and two brothers, Leslie Bowman and Marshall Bowman.

David Bowman, 78, of Monterey,
TN, passed away Feb. 17, 2001, at Erlanger Medical Center in
Chattanooga, TN. Joint funeral services for Mr. Bowman and his

at 11 a.m. from the chapel of Goff Funeral Home in Monterey,
with burial at Love Joy Cemetery. The Rev. Clayton Padgett will
officiate, with full military honors presented by the Veterans
Honor Guard.

Mr. Bowman was born Sept. 28, 1922, in Overton County, TN, the
son of Walter Lee and Faith Masters Bowman.
He was a retired machinist for General Motors. He was a U.S.
Army veteran of World War II, and a member of the Crossville
VFW Post No. 5025. He was a member of the Royal Oak Masonic Lodge
in Madison Heights, MI, where he was a past master. He was a
Royal Arch mason at Chapter No. 167 in Madison Heights. He was
a fund raiser for the Special Olympics.
Survivors include his daughter, Rita Bowman of Brighton, MI;
son, Michael Bowman of Bozeman, MT; sister, Beryle Eaton of Rockwood,
TN; brothers, Ray Bowman of Rockwood and Walter Bowman of Monterey;
and three grandchildren, Andrew Sochocki, Meghan Sochocki and
Ezra Bowman.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Edith Bowman and Helen

Mrs. Dozier was born Dec. 7, 1936, in Corbin, KY, the daughter

Claudella Queen Gentry, 88,
of Fairfield Glade, passed away Feb. 9, 2001, at Wharton Nursing
Home. Funeral services were conducted Feb. 12 at Fairfield Glade
United Methodist Church, and at Bordwine Funeral Home in Etowah,
TN, with burial Feb. 13 at Conasauga Cemetery in Etowah. The
Rev. Wayne L. Benson, the Rev. Dean Orr, the Rev. Chris Haynes
and the Rev. Ed McClellan officiated, with her grandchildren
also participating in the services.
Mrs. Gentry was born Dec. 23, 1912, in Isabella, TN, the daughter
of Gordon and Ida Florence Turner Queen.
She was a retired switchboard operator for Fort Sanders Presbyterian
Hospital in Knoxville, TN. She was a long-time member of North
Etowah Baptist Church, and later transferred her membership to
the United Methodist Church. She made her home with her daughter
and son-in-law for four years before becoming a resident of the
nursing home.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Mary Nell and
Wayne L. Benson of Fairfield Glade; brother, Doyle Queen of Morganton,
GA; sister, Odell Chancey of Harriman, TN; four grandchildren,
Mary Tressela Jaggers, Parker Ralph, Aaron Lee and Billy Wayne
Benson; and 11 great-grandchildren, Luke, Heather, Jenny, Greg,
Chris, Aaron, Mary Elizabeth, Zac, Gabe, Tilly and Sarah.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Gordon and Ida Queen;
her husband, Joseph Ralph Gentry; brothers, Harrel Queen, Charley

He served in the U.S. Navy from 1952 to 1960.
Survivors include his wife of 44 years, Bessie Pugh of Snohomish;

He was retired from the military, having served as a pilot in

was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. He enjoyed working

Mrs. Dillon was born April 11, 1926, in Cumberland County, the
daughter of Catella and Frank DeVore.
She was a homemaker.
Survivors include her mother, Catella DeVore of Crossville; son,
Thomas Dillon of Spencer, TN; daughter, Deborah A. Nichols of
Centralia, IL; and four grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her father, Frank DeVore; and her
husband, Wesley Clifford Dillon.

Guy Mims Fogg, 71, of Hermitage,
TN, passed away Feb. 4, 2001. Funeral services will be conducted
today at 10 a.m. at Hermitage Funeral Home, with interment in
Hermitage Memorial Gardens. The Rev. Stephen Klasek will officiate.
Mr. Fogg was born Oct. 4, 1929, in Columbia, TN, the son of William
Guy and Pearl Harrison Fogg.
He was employed in real estate in the Crossville area.
Survivors include his daughters, Patty Hinson, Pam Brown and
Melanie Hughen; son, William Hall; brothers and sister; 17 grandchildren;
seven great-grandchildren; and ex-wife and dear friend, Jane
Fogg.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Pearl Fogg;
a son, Ronald Fogg; and a granddaughter, Neely Ann Hall.

Mrs. Kerley was born May 3, 1914, in Cumberland County, the daughter
of Ed and Maycell Cordell.

of Herbert Leigh and Thelma Chamberlain Mixter.
She was a homemaker, and a member of Christ Lutheran Church in

Mrs. Scarlett was born July 25, 1933, in Knoxville, TN, the daughter
of Dedrick and Parla Ford Baker.
She was a homemaker, and of the Baptist faith.

and Clarence William Scarlett of Crossville; daughters, Ruby

Edwina Gaines Lansford Stone,
103, of Cleveland, TN, passed away Feb. 2, 2001. Funeral services
were conducted Feb. 4 at First United Methodist Church in Cleveland,
with the Rev. Rusty Taylor officiating. A private interment will
be held at Hamilton Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Stone was born March 4, 1897, in Sparta, TN, the daughter
of Dr. Sanford Edwin Gaines and Maude Ellen Baker.
She graduated in 1916 from Martin Methodist College, and taught
for many years. She was a member of First United Methodist Church
in Cleveland.
Survivors include her sons, Edwin Gaines Lansford of Crossville,
Dr. Frederick Duke Lansford of Cohutta, GA, and William David
Lansford of Manchester, TN; 14 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren;
and one niece.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, Frederick
Duke Lansford and Nicholas Clifford Stone; and a son, Robert
"Bob" Carlton Lansford.

Mary Lois Turner, 67, of Algood,
TN, passed away Feb. 4, 2001, at Cookeville Regional Medical
Center. Funeral services will be conducted Friday, Feb. 9, at
3 p.m. from the chapel of Goff Funeral Home in Monterey, TN,
with interment in Mayland Cemetery. The Rev. Freddie Looper and
the Rev. Ferrel Looper will officiate.
Visitation will be Thursday, Feb. 8, from 6 to 9 p.m. at the
funeral home.
Mrs. Turner was born Sept. 2, 1933, in Putnam County, TN, the
daughter of John Gilbert and Winnie Bryant Bohannon.
She was a retired factory worker with R.W. Beckett Corp. in Ohio,
and a member of Faith Outreach Center.
Survivors include her husband of 52 years, Eugene Turner of Algood;
daughters, Phyllis Sabisky of Matoaca, VA, and Lois Smith of
Creston, OH; son, Melvin Lee Turner of Algood; sisters, Reba

Mr. Beaty was born Feb. 21, 1911, in Byrdstown, TN, the son of
Thomas and Berneller Conatser Beaty.
He was a sawmill laborer, and a member of Fredonia Southern Baptist
Church. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Amy Sherrill Beaty of Crossville;
daughters, Brenda Wyatt and Glenda Kirkland, both of Crossville,
and Danette Mumaw of St. Petersburg, FL; sons, Darwin Beaty,
Edwin Beaty and Gentry Beaty, all of Crossville, and Gene Beaty
of Mt. Juliet, TN; sister, Ollie Atkins of Grimsley, TN; 12 grandchildren;
six great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Woodrow and Amos Beaty;

William Curtis Byrd Sr., 57,
of Crossville, passed away Feb. 4, 2001. Funeral services were

Mr. Byrd was born Dec. 21, 1943, in Jefferson County, TN, the
son of Clyde and Hester Lane Byrd.

HERMAN HERSCHEL CARR
Herman Herschel Carr, 93, of
Crossville, passed away Feb. 5, 2001, after a recent illness
at WyndRidge Health and Rehabilitation Center. Funeral services
were conducted Feb. 7 from the chapel of Bilbrey Funeral Home,
with burial in Crossville City Cemetery. Bro. Phil Jenkins and
Bro. Wade Webster officiated, with special singing by the Church
of Christ Singers.
Mr. Carr was born Sept. 9, 1907, in Overton County, TN, the son
of William and Susan Handy Carr.
A long-time resident of Cumberland County, Mr. Carr was the well-known
owner of My Barber Shop, and also owned the Travel Court on Hwy.
70 for several years. He was a respected church leader, businessman
and devoted family man. An active member of Crossville Church
of Christ, he once served as elder. He was also involved with
the VFW and the Senior Citizens Club.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, serving in the Philippines,
and is said to have been a barber to Gen. Douglas MacArthur.
In 1998 he was honored by the Dept. of Veteran Affairs as being
the oldest living veteran in Cumberland County.
Throughout his life, he enjoyed playing basketball and played
for the Alpine Institute at a national tournament in 1926. An
avid gardener, he spent much of his later years growing flowers
at various places in Crossville. His warm personality and sense
of humor were what made him a special person. His love of reading
the Bible and singing church hymns was very much a part of his
life. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Survivors include his daughter, Jeannetta Toungette of Nashville;
daughter-in-law, Margaret Beaty of Crossville; stepdaughter,
Mary Nell Robinette of Kingsport, TN, stepsons, Gene Webb and
James Webb, both of Dayton, OH; sister, Myrtle Norris of Rickman,
TN; granddaughters, Angela Toungette and Theresa Toungette, both
of Nashville; and numerous stepgrandchildren and step-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two loving wives, Mary Lowe Carr
and Lorene Webb Carr; and a brother, Claude Carr.
Pallbearers were members of Crossville Church of Christ, Eddie
Brown, Bill Foland, Tate Welch, Elmo Lewis, Ray Jernigan and
Larry McDuffee.

Julian Galan, 82, of Pleasant

Mrs. Cook was born Dec. 6, 1913, in Cumberland County, the daughter

Mr. Dayton was born April 6, 1929, in Cumberland County, the

Force veteran of the Korean War.

Daniel Campbell Doubleday, 95,
of Crossville, passed away Jan. 31, 2001, at Cumberland Medical
Center. Burial will be in the Arlington National Cemetery.
Mr. Doubleday was born Oct. 16, 1905, in Johnstown, NY, the son
of Archibald and Bessie Campbell Doubleday.
He was retired from the military, having served as a pilot in
the U.S. Air Force. He was of the Presbyterian faith.
Survivors include his wife, Charlotte Donaldson Doubleday of
Crossville; daughter and son-in-law, Diane and Thomas P. Krueger
of Crossville; son and daughter-in-law, Robert "Bob"

William Wesley Garst, 70, of
Crossville, passed away Jan. 28, 2001. A memorial service will

Mr. Garst was born April 1, 1930, in Jonesborough, TN, the son
of Daniel Paul Sr. and Cora B. Oliver Garst.
He was a retired technical sergeant of the U.S. Air Force with
20 years of service, having served in Japan and France. His decorations
included the Army Occupational, Korean Service and United Nations
Service medals. He was a 32nd degree Mason, a Shriner and a member
of Knoxville Temple, Sevierville Scottish Rite and Blue Lodge
of Sevierville, TN.
Survivors include his wife, Edna McCracken Garst of Crossville;
sons, Daniel Garst of Bloomington, IN, and Alan Garst of Memphis;
daughters, Karen Kirkland and Kathy Brackins, both of Sevierville;

Mr. Golliher was born March 1, 1936, in Cumberland County, the
son of John W. and Frances Golliher.

He was a past board member of the Westel Volunteer Fire Department,
a scoutmaster for Boy Scout Troop 207 of Ozone and a member of
the U.S. National Guard.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara Bryant Golliher of Rockwood;
son and daughter-in-law, Jeff and Deidra Golliher of Rockwood;
daughter and son-in-law, Arlene and Stan McCarter of Sevierville;
mother, Frances Golliher of Rockwood; sisters and brothers-in-law,

HARDY RAY SEIBER
Hardy Ray Seiber, 62, of Crossville,
passed away Jan. 29, 2001, at Cumberland Medical Center. Funeral
services were conducted Feb. 1 from the chapel of Burris Funeral
Home, with Tommy Kilby officiating.
Mr. Seiber was born March 8, 1938, in Anderson County, TN, the
son of Bob and Idell Hawn Seiber.
He was a truck driver, and a member of Union Bible Chapel in
Port Union, OH.
Survivors include his wife, Ann Seiber of Crossville; son, Jaymie
Ray Seiber of Cincinnati, OH; daughters, Lee Ann Seiber of Lineville,
AL, and Rhaye Ann Fey of Williamsburg, OH; stepsons, Steven Wallen
of Hamilton, OH, Mitchell Wallen of Rosebud, TX, and Lawrence
Wallen of Columbia, KY; stepdaughter, Laurel Ann Wallen of Oklahoma
City, OK; brother, Jay Seiber of Crossville; sister, Jeanne Foster
of Cincinnati; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren;
and 12 step-grandchildren.

JOHN AULD
John "Dale" Auld,
81, of Pleasant Hill, passed away Jan. 27, 2001. Graveside services
were conducted Jan. 29 at Old Pleasant Hill Cemetery, with the
Rev. Reed Jones and the Rev. Herbert Grimm officiating.
Mr. Auld was born July 25, 1919, in Keokuk, IA, the son of John
and Frances Mae Oden Auld.
He was a retired banker, and a member of First Church of the
Nazarene. He was a 50-year member of the Masonic Lodge in What
Cheer, IA.
Survivors include his wife, Rena Auld of Pleasant Hill; daughters,
Elaine Hood of Wayzata, MN, and Ardith McKitrick of Milwaukee,
WI; stepdaughters, Sandra Gosoroski of Calhoun, MO, and Glenda
Sawyer of Lewisburg, NC; brother, Donald Auld of Long Beach,
CA; sister, Margarete Lynk of Marshalltown, IA; 11 grandchildren;
and 15 great-grandchildren.

ROBERT A. RENAUD
Robert A. Renaud, 86, of Crossville,
passed away Jan. 30, 2001, at Cumberland Medical Center. A memorial
service will be held Saturday, Feb. 3, at 11 a.m. at St. Raphael's
Episcopal Church, with the Rev. H. Paul Wanter officiating.
Mr. Renaud was born May 7, 1914, in Quebec, Canada, the son of
Alphonse and Elodie Laliberte Renaud.
He was a PGA golf pro and a member of St. Raphael's Episcopal
Church. He served as a U.S. Army captain during World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Erma Wallis Renaud of Crossville;
sons and daughters-in-law, Robert E. and Kathrine Renaud of Atlanta,
GA, and Norman A. and Jennifer Renaud of Naples, Italy; daughters
and sons-in-law, Linda and Grady Warner and Dena and Dean Fischer,
all of Nashville, TN; stepdaughter and her husband, Carolyn and
Bruce Fitzpatrick of Nashville; sister, Aurore Renaud Menard
of Springfield, VT; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren;
and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister and a great-grandson.

JOHN A. STAFFORD
John A. Stafford, 71, of Crossville,
passed away Jan. 29, 2001. Graveside services were conducted
Jan. 31 at Tollett Cemetery, with Tommy Harris officiating.
Mr. Stafford was born July 16, 1929, in Cumberland County, the
son of Dewey and Tilda Stafford.
He was a self-employed farmer.
Survivors include his daughters, Barbara Stafford, Rosie Stafford
and Lisa Stafford, all of Knoxville, TN; sons, Johnny Stafford
of Texas and Henry Stafford of Knoxville; sister, Mavile Kerley
of Spring City, TN; and a host of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, James
Albert Stafford and Earl Stafford.

LAURA BELLE TUTTLE
Laura Belle Tuttle, 83, of Crossville,
passed away Jan. 20, 2001. Funeral services were conducted Jan.
23 from the chapel of Bilbrey Funeral Home, with burial in Hyder
Cemetery. Bro. Donnie Umphrey, Bro. Richard Rollins and Bro.
Tony Grayson officiated, with special music by The Umphrey Family
Singers.
Mrs. Tuttle was born Sept. 3, 1917, in Bell County, KY, the daughter
of Joe and Ida Mae Miracle Owens.
She was a homemaker, and a member of Chestnut Hill Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband of nearly 64 years, Ellison Tuttle
of Crossville; daughters, Ruby Norris of Crab Orchard, Mary Umphrey
of Grandview, TN, and Flossie Umphrey of Philadelphia, TN; sons,
Willis Tuttle, Joe Tuttle, Esco Tuttle, Elvert Tuttle, Dewey
Tuttle, John Tuttle and Othen Tuttle, all of Crossville; brother,
Joe Frank Owens of Knoxville, TN; sisters, Maudie Shakleford
of Harrogate, TN, Stella Evans, Lucy Underwood, Adline Coker
and Lita Mae England, all of Middlesboro, KY, and Hattie Hoff
of Kokomo, IN; 27 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren and four
great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, William
Owens; sisters, Dorie Barnett, Lizzie Gibson, Mary Owens and
Cordie Owens; granddaughter, Donna Lorene Umphrey; and great-grandchildren,
Brittany Norris and Todd Maddox.
Pallbearers were Ray Umphrey, Donald Umphrey, Leon Norris, Robert
Tuttle, Mark Tuttle, Keith Tuttle, Johnathon Tuttle, Wayne Tuttle,
Adam Tuttle and Samuel Tuttle.
