MARGARET GERTRUDE MARTIN
Margaret Gertrude Martin, 91, of Fairfield Glade, passed away April 19, 2001. A memorial service was conducted April 25 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, with Father Gregory Boisvert officiating.
Mrs. Martin was born Sept. 8, 1909, in Brooklyn, NY, the daughter of Darnley and Harriet Smith Gillezeau.
She was a registered nurse, and of the Catholic faith.
Survivors include her daughter, Alice Radwick of Fairfield Glade; son, Kenneth Martin of Staten Island, NY; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Martin; and sister, Hortense Guttridge.

NANCY RUTH McALFEY
Nancy Ruth McAlfey, 63, of Fairfield Glade, passed away April 23, 2001. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, April 28, at 1 p.m. from the chapel of Bilbrey Funeral Home, with burial in Methodist Church Columbarium. The Rev. Ed McCuellan will officiate.
Visitation will be tonight from 6 to 8 at the funeral home.
Mrs. McAlfey was born June 27, 1937, in Saginaw, MI, the daughter of Howard and Lena Seymore Rathburn.
She was an account clerk for Michigan State University, and a member of Fairfield Glade United Methodist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Warren McAlfey of Fairfield Glade; daughter, Julie McAlfey of Tampa, FL; son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Christina McAlfey of Lansing, MI; and sister, Lorraine Stevenson of Clear, MI.

PEGGY WILSON PIGG
Peggy Wilson Pigg, 60, of Cookeville, passed away April 23, 2001. Funeral services were conducted April 26 from the chapel of Anderson Funeral Home in Gainesboro, TN, with the Rev. Billy Haney and the Rev. Harold Hawkins officiating. Burial was in Dodson Branch Cemetery in the Dodson Branch community of Jackson County, TN.
Mrs. Pigg was born Oct. 19, 1940, in Jackson County, the daughter of Oscar and Flossie Thomas Wilson.
She was a homemaker, and a member of the Dodson Branch Southern Baptist Church.
Survivors include her sons, Walter Ray Pigg of Texarkana, TX, Josh Anthony Pigg of Bloomington Springs, TN, and Patrick Lee Pigg of Cookeville; daughters, Patricia Jones of Gainesboro and Sheila Miller of Crossville; brothers, Burnley Wilson of Hartville, OH, Roger Dailey of Dayton, OH, Billy Joe Wilson and Paul Ray Wilson, both of Cookeville, James Wilson of Sparta, Bobby Lane Wilson of Whitwell, TN, Donald Jean Wilson of Livingston, TN, and Robert Steve Wilson of Gainesboro; sisters, Ethel Bailey and Anna Ruth, both of Canton, OH, Margaret Way of Cookeville, Frances Ray, Connie Ballard and Bonnie Jones, all of Gainesboro; and four grandchildren, Audrey Joe Spivey, Peggy Spivey, J.W. Jones and Dillon Pigg.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Oscar and Flossie Wilson; three brothers, Tommy Jean Wilson, Charles Wilson and Randall Wilson; and one great-granddaughter, Kyra Lashae Rose Christian.

PAUL PARKS FRANKLIN
Paul Parks Franklin, 86, of Fairfield Glade, passed away April 21, 2001. Funeral services will be conducted today, April 24, at 1 p.m. from the Chapel of Roses at Woodlawn Funeral Home and Memorial Park in Nashville, with entombment to follow in the Woodlawn Cross Mausoleum. The Rev. Wayne Benson and the Rev. Mitch Johnson will officiate.
Mr. Franklin was born Sept. 14, 1914, in Spring City, TN.
He was an attorney for the Veterans Administration.
Survivors include his wife, Ruth B. Franklin of Fairfield Glade; daughter and son-in-law, Mary Evans Carlton and Jerry Carlton; grandsons, Ronald Lane Evans Jr. and William Paul Evans; and niece, Elizabeth Haupt.

DONNIE LOUISE ALLEN
Donnie Louise Allen, 88, of Crossville, passed away April 20, 2001. Graveside services were conducted April 23 at Old Pleasant Hill Cemetery, with David Wollenburg officiating.
Ms. Allen was born Nov. 13, 1912, in Humboldt, TN.
She was a bakery worker.
Survivors include her daughter, Latayne Sheeley of Crystal Springs, MS; granddaughters, Robin Gray of Crossville and Donna Pipkin of Hernando, MS; five great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren.

EDWARD EARL BROWN
Edward Earl Brown, 59, of Crossville, passed away April 17, 2001. A memorial service was conducted April 20 from the chapel of Crossville Memorial Funeral Home, with the Rev. Scott White officiating.
Mr. Brown was born March 29, 1942, in Cumberland County, the son of Clenice F. and Jo Brown.
He was a veteran of the National Guard.
Survivors include his son, Ronald C. Johnson Jr. of Port St. Lucie, FL; son and daughter-in-law, Anthony and Rema Johnson of Crossville; daughters, Dayna Johnson and Leslie Johnson, both of Crossville, and Paula Greenle of Kingstreet, SC; mother of his children, Helen Brown Pierce of Marathon, FL; brothers, Binnie A. Brown, Franklin Brown, Donald Brown and Tommy Brown, all of Crossville, and Clenice Franklin Brown Jr. of Ft. Bragg, NC; sisters, Lou Ann Parsons, Linda F. Brown, Betty Sherrill and Bonnie Green, all of Crossville, and Stacy Pugh of Montgomery, TX; aunt, Elsie Barnwell of Crossville; uncle, H.L. Woody of Crossville; and 13 grandchildren.

BOBBY L. DUNBAR
Bobby L. Dunbar, 68, of Crossville, passed away April 21, 2001. Funeral services were conducted April 23 from the chapel of Bilbrey Funeral Home, with the Rev. Russell Honeycutt officiating. Graveside committal was April 24 at Crossville City Cemetery.
Mr. Dunbar was born Aug. 8, 1932, in Cumberland County, the son of Edward Carmack and Vernia Cordell Dunbar.
He was a custodian, and a member of Homestead Methodist Church.
Survivors include his mother, Vernia Dunbar of Crossville; nieces and nephew, Robin Jernigan, Sue Blaylock and Charlie Bowman; and two brothers-in-law, Ray Jernigan and Ed Bowman.
He was preceded in death by his father, Carmack Dunbar; and two sisters, Mary Jernigan and Betty Bowman.
Pallbearers were Greg Blaylock, Heath Blaylock, Baxter Sherrill, Jay Jernigan, Tyler Blaylock and Robin Jernigan.

BERL E. CARSON
Berl "Chick" E. Carson, 66, of Crossville, passed away April 16, 2001. Funeral services were conducted April 17 from the chapel of Crossville Memorial Funeral Home, with burial in Tolletts Chapel Cemetery. Al Watkins officiated.
Mr. Carson was born Aug. 27, 1934.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy.
Survivors include his mother, Florence Fitzgerald of Crossville; brothers and sisters-in-law, Bill and Betty Carson, and Fred and Pam Stout, all of Crossville; sister, Betty Stout of Crossville; sisters and brothers-in-law, Mary Lou and Ralph Kidwell of Sparta, TN, and Sharon and Dick Hyder of Crossville; and aunts, Nettie Vaughn, Pauline Smith and Mammie Berry.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Johnny Fitzgerald, Glenn Fitzgerald and Carson Stout.

EDNA MAE BLAYLOCK FISH
Edna Mae Blaylock Fish, 81, of Sparta, TN, passed away April 17, 2001. Funeral services will be conducted today, April 20, at 1 p.m. at Hunter Funeral Home in Sparta, with Dennis Cleek officiating. Burial will be in Smith Chapel Cemetery.
Mrs. Fish was born Jan. 9, 1920, in Sparta, the daughter of Fred William and Annie Mae Chestain Blaylock.
She was a homemaker.
Survivors include her sister, Louise Randolph of Sparta; sister and brother-in-law, Freda and William Randolph of Sparta; brothers and sisters-in-law, Hershel and Linda Blaylock, and Coye and Maxine Blaylock, all of Sparta; and several nieces and nephews.

GRACE J. WESTLAKE
Grace J. Westlake, 74, of Fairfield Glade, passed away April 12, 2001. Memorial services were conducted April 16 at Fairfield Glade Community Church.
Mrs. Westlake was born July 14, 1926, in Naperville, IL.
She attended North Central College in Naperville. She was involved in many activities and served leadership roles in the Herb Society of America, AAUW, P.E.O., 4-H and gardening and home economics organizations.
In Cumberland County, she was a public school volunteer and an active member of Fairfield Glade Community Church. She served on the board of the Southeast Conference of the United Church of Christ.
Survivors include her husband, Rogers Westlake of Fairfield Glade; three brothers; five children; and three grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Stone Elementary School, 1219 Cook Rd., Crossville, TN 38555, for the Grace Westlake Memorial Fund in support of the library; or to Tennessee Donor Services, 7015 Middlebrook Pike, Knoxville, TN 37909.

DENNIS NEWTON BROWN
Dennis Newton Brown, 88, of Crossville, passed away April 11, 2001. Funeral services were conducted April 14 from the chapel of Bilbrey Funeral Home, with burial in Crossville City Cemetery. Bro. Phil Jenkins officiated.
Mr. Brown was born Aug. 7, 1912, in Crossville, the son of William and Vina Hedgecoth Brown.
He was a bricklayer, and a member of the Church of Christ.
Survivors include his son, James Ralph Brown of Grafton, OH; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wives, Stella Hedgecoth Brown, Melvina Randolph Brown and Estelle Vann Brown; and a son, William Ernest Brown.
Pallbearers were Bob Ramsburg, Greg Brown, Rob Lowe and Benny Lowe.

BEATRICE W. BURGESS
Beatrice W. Burgess, 82, of Cookeville, TN, passed away April 17, 2001. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, April 19, at 11 a.m. from the chapel of Whitson Funeral Home in Cookeville, with Bro. Glen McDoniel and Bro. Johnny Fox officiating. Burial will be in Judd Cemetery in Putnam County, TN.
Visitation will be tonight from 4 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mrs. Burgess was born Aug. 3, 1918, in Overton County, TN.
She was a retired factory worker for General Motors, and a member of Jefferson Ave. Church of Christ.
Survivors include her husband, Haskell D. Burgess of Cookeville; daughter, Carol Wyland of Eaton, OH; stepdaughters, Shirley Carter and Patsy Cronk, both of Cookeville; stepson, Charles Burgess of Cookeville; sister, Alice Carmel Norris of Livingston, TN; brothers, Hershell P. Sells of Crossville and Arthur E. "Bud" Sells of Monroe, TN; four grandchildren, Tommy Horn Jr., Dennis Wyland Jr., Tracie DeMarco and Kerrie Laramore; and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Tina Sells; her first husband, William Horn; and her son, Tommy Horn.

ARTHUR KILGORE
Arthur "Warty" Kilgore, 84, of Mayland, passed away April 17, 2001. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, April 19 at 2 p.m. from the chapel of Goff Funeral Home in Monterey, with burial in Mayland Cemetery. The Rev. Thomas Hale Jr. will officiate.
Visitation will be tonight, Wednesday, from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.
Mr. Kilgore was born Oct. 13, 1916, in Orm, TN, the son of Arthur Daniel and Laura Goff Kilgore.
He was a retired coal miner and automotive mechanic, and attended Mayland Nazarene Church. He served as constable in Mayland for many years. He was active in baseball, coaching and umpiring for many years; the ballfield in Mayland is named in his honor.
Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Christine Reeves Kilgore of Mayland; daughter and son-in-law, Peggy and Larry Evans of Crossville; daughters, Margaret McNeal and Glenda Segars, both of Charleston, SC; sons, Eddie Kilgore, Jerry Kilgore and Danny Kilgore, all of Mayland, and Joe Kilgore and Bobby Kilgore, both of Crossville; sons and daughters-in-law, Dallas and Charlotte Kilgore, and Ronnie and Martha Kilgore, all of Mayland; sisters, Bethel Copeland of Monterey, Bessie Phillips of Mayland and Nellie Walker of Crossvile; brothers, Paul Kilgore of Elwood, IN, and Jim Kilgore of Elyria, OH; 25 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two daughters-in-law, Annie Kilgore and Pam Kilgore; a son-in-law, Tony Segars; five sisters, Dorothy Buckner, Ethel Bohannon, Mary Phillips, Anna Ruth Beard and Daniette Bennett; a brother, Sam Kilgore, and two infant brothers.

GOLDIE ROBERTA BUCK
Goldie "Polly" Roberta Buck, 60, of Greenville, NC, formerly of Crossville, passed away April 2, 2001. Graveside services were conducted April 5 at Pinewood Memorial Park in Greenville.
Mrs. Buck was born April 13, 1940, in Crossville.
Survivors include her husband, Glen Orville Buck of Greenville; son, Jackie Burk of Greenville; sisters, Helen Nemeth of Norwalk, CT, Evelyn Cummings of Erlanger, KY, and Ruby Clark of Orlando, FL; brothers, John Bristow and Moses Bristow, both of Crossville; and three grandchildren, James Michael Horne, Tonya Buck and Rebecca Buck, all of Greenville.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Martha Elizabeth Horne.

WILLIAM ALFRED ADAMS
William "Buck" Alfred Adams, 64, of Jackson, KY, passed away April 6, 2001. Funeral services were conducted April 9 from the chapel of Bilbrey Funeral Home, with burial in Slate Springs Cemetery. The Rev. Russell Honeycutt officiated.
Mr. Adams was born Oct. 16, 1936, in Crossville, the son of William and Inez Myles Adams.
He was a brick mason, and of the Baptist faith. He served in the U.S. Army.
Survivors include his son, Hank Lee of Crossville; daughters, Teresa Clay of Washington Courthouse, OH, and Sandra Litman and Deborah Sherrill, both of Columbus; brothers, Charles Adams and Chester Adams, both of Crossville, Vaughn Adams of Jackson, and Jessie Adams of Clifton, TN; sisters, Norma Jean Dixon and Jennifer "Billie" Norton, both of Crossville, and Virginia Bennett of Soddy-Daisy, TN; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by five sisters, Violet Adams, Shirley Huddelson, Lucy Miller, Thelma Taylor and Ann Vaughn.
Pallbearers were Junior Dixon, Jeff Dixon, Bobby Dixon, Jamie Dixon, Wayne Adams and Keith Adams.

HELEN LOUISE CARSON
Helen Louise Carson, 74, of Crossville, passed away April 5, 2001. Funeral services were conducted April 6 from the chapel of Bilbrey Funeral Home, with Bro. Arlon Way officiating. Graveside services were held April 7 at Green Acres Memory Gardens.
Mrs. Carson was born Aug. 29, 1926, in Cumberland County, the daughter of Noah and Chloe Burgess Wells.
She was a teacher's aide, and a member of the Church of Christ.
Survivors include her husband, Lynn E. Carson Sr. of Crossville; daughters, Lynda Monday and Annie Brooks, both of Crossville; son, Gene Carson Jr. of Crossville; brother, Allen Wells of Crossville; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
The family requests that memorials be made to Hospice of Cumberland County.

ROY D. PATRICK
Roy D. Patrick, 70, of Fairfield Glade, passed away April 2, 2001. Funeral services were conducted April 6 in the Chesterfield Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home in Chester, VA. Interment with military honors followed in Bermuda Memorial Park.
Mr. Patrick was born Jan. 16, 1931, in Louisa, KY, the son of Marion and Hazel Hardeman Patrick.
He retired from the U.S. Air Force in 1975 as a lieutenant colonel, after 23 years of devoted service in eight states and five foreign countries. He then worked as the first chief of administrative services for the Chesterfield (VA) Fire Department, until March 1993. He was a member of Gideons International and the Retired Officers Association, and was a deacon at Fairfield Glade Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Betty L. Willis Patrick of Fairfield Glade; daughters, Rhonda K. Patrick of Hopewell, VA, Karen P. Knutsen of Halden, Norway, Debra E. Thompson of Petersburg, VA, and Kimberly D. Patrick of Prince George, VA; sons, Mark S. Patrick, commander, U.S. Navy, of Lorton, VA, and Bryan K. Patrick of Harrisburg, PA; brother, Ralph E. Patrick of Flatwoods, KY; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Florence McGinnis.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made in Mr. Patrick's memory to Gideons International.

DEVIN ANDREW SCHRADE
dEVIN Devin Andrew Schrade son of Jay and Sandy, brother of Tyler and Breika, was born at home in Cumberland County on March 19, 1979.
He attended the Community Friends School and South Cumberland Elementary School, graduated from Cumberland County High School in 1997 and was an Eagle Scout. He attended Roane State Community College and the University of Tennessee, but his greatest education was in his world travels throughout 47 of the 50 states, Western and Eastern Europe, Central America, Canada and Mexico.
His passion for scuba diving, snowboarding, hiking and camping was surpassed only by his love of people and their love of him. He touched the lives of people wherever he went, as they did his.
On the slopes of Copper Mountain, CO, on April 9, 2001, dEVIN began a never-ending snowboard run.
"With us for a moment, in our hearts for eternity."
The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 from the chapel of Bilbrey Funeral Home. A private family service will be held later.

JAMES THOMAS WALKER
James Thomas Walker, 82, of Crossville, passed away April 8, 2001. Funeral services were conducted April 11 from the chapel of Crossville Memorial Funeral Home, with burial in Music Cemetery. Phil Jenkins officiated.
Mr. Walker was born Aug. 28, 1918, in Cumberland County, the son of Thomas and Fannie Walker.
He was a self-employed logging contractor.
Survivors include his wife, Juanita Walker of Crossville; sons, Milton Walker, Theodore Walker, Merle Walker and Terry Walker, all of Crossville, and Leslie Walker of Lakeland, FL; daughters, Evelyn Phillips of Rogersville, TN, Barbara Brown of Crossville and Linda Kennedy of Detroit, MI; brother, George Walker of Wauseon, OH; 30 grandchildren; and 31 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Fannie Walker; sons, James Walker and Edward Walker; daughter, Mildred Walker; brother, Richard Walker; and grandson, Steve Leak.

Estel "Pop" Bilbrey, 81, of Crossville, passed away April 3, 2001. Funeral services were conducted April 5 from the chapel of Bilbrey Funeral Home, with burial in Woody Cemetery. Bro. Johnny Ray Bertram and Bro. Robert Wright officiated, with special music by Debbie Wright.
Mr. Bilbrey was born May 19, 1919, in Putnam County, TN, the son of Vanus and Ova Phillips Bilbrey.
He was a sawyer, and a member of Pilgrim's Freewill Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Lou Medley Bilbrey of Crossville; sons, J.V. Bilbrey, Harlan Bilbrey, Terry Bilbrey, Jerry Bilbrey, Charles Medley, Jerry Medley, Jimmy Medley and Joe Medley, all of Crossville; daughters, Mazel Bilbrey and Adean Vaughn, both of Monterey, and Gwen Pryor, Jeanette King, Brenda Swallows and Kathy Medley Johnson, all of Crossville; sisters, Velva Padgett and Delvia Melton, both of Monterey; brothers, Destel Bilbrey of Clarkrange and Bestel Bilbrey of Monterey; and 22 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by four daughters, Grace Edith Bilbrey, Margie Louise Bilbrey, Ernestine Bilbrey and Willene Bilbrey; one brother, Vestel Bilbrey; and four sisters, Elsie McCowns, Elvie Swallows, Delsie Swallows and Belva Phillips.

CARL W. GOEBEL
Carl W. Goebel, 72, of Crossville, passed away April 1, 2001. Funeral services were conducted April 5 from the chapel of Crossville Memorial Funeral Home, with burial in Lewis Cemetery. The Rev. Paul Wanter officiated.
Mr. Goebel was born April 6, 1928, in Camden, NJ.
He was an auto technician.
Survivors include his wife, Roberta Jean Goebel of Crossville; daughter, Carol Jean Kessler of Crossville; brother, James R. Goebel Jr. of West Berlin, NJ; sister, Florence Lowndes of Williamstown, NJ; and two grandchildren.

ELLA BRITT GOLDEN
Ella Britt Golden, 91, of Crossville, passed away April 8, 2001. Funeral services will be conducted today, April 10, at 2 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Tallassee in Tallassee, AL.
Visitation will be from noon to 2 p.m. today at the church.
Mrs. Golden was born Aug. 13, 1909, in Tallassee, the daughter of John William and Lela Bridgeman Britt.
She worked for Tallassee Mills until her retirement.
Survivors include her daughters, Marie Ledbetter of Tallassee and Nina Bolin of Crossville; brothers, Oberon Britt and Winard Britt, both of Montgomery, AL, and John Britt of Tallassee; sister, Lillie Ballard of Montgomery; grandchildren, Shelia Garnett of Notasulga, AL, Wanda Ledbetter of Montgomery, Terri Neighbors of Opelika, AL, and Michael Chandler of Cusseta, AL; eight great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

WILFORD GLEN LODEN
Wilford "Bill" Glen Loden, 78, of Crab Orchard, passed away April 4, 2001. Funeral services were conducted April 6 from the chapel of Bilbrey Funeral Home, with interment in Haley's Grove Cemetery. Chaplain Jan Kohlmann officiated, with flag presentation, firing detail and Taps given by the U.S. Army Honor Guard of Fort Campbell, KY.
Mr. Loden was born Feb. 8, 1923, in Cumberland County, the son of Benjamin and Naomi Dyal Loden.
He was a 29-year veteran of the U.S. Army, having served during World War II and the Korean and Vietnam wars, retiring as sergeant first class.
Survivors include his sisters, Pauline Wilson and Lucille Hayes, both of Crossville, and Ellen Bilbrey of Conyers, GA; brothers, Clifferd Loden of Kershaw, SC, Howard Loden and Dean Loden, both of Crossville, and James Loden of Clarkrange; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Clara Bilbrey; and two brothers, Johnny Loden and Gene Loden.
The U.S. Army Honor Guard of Fort Campbell served as pallbearers.

LLOYD TURNER
Lloyd Turner, 60, of Crossville, passed away April 2, 2001. Funeral services were conducted April 4 at Oak Hill Baptist Church, with burial in Oak Hill Cemetery. Bro. Robert Melton officiated.
Mr. Turner was born Aug. 25, 1940, in Cumberland County, the son of Holbert and Mary Elmore Turner.
He was employed in the Hilltoppers Inc. factory.
Survivors include his brothers, Cletis Turner and Dale Turner, both of Crossville; and sister, Alma Wilson of Crossville.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Holbert and Mary Turner; a brother, Clyde Turner; and a sister, Zella Wakefield.
Pallbearers were Vincent Baker, Johnny Moore, Gary Wakefield, Wade Gayhart, David Davies and Roger Wakefield.
The family requests that memorials be made to the Oak Hill Baptist Church building fund.

James Osborne Wilson, 74, of Crossville, passed away April 1, 2001. No services are planned.
Mr. Wilson was born Nov. 15, 1926, in Govie, NH.

Betsy Lee Burgess, 49, of Crossville, passed away March 31, 2001. Funeral services were conducted April 2 from the chapel of Bilbrey Funeral Home. Bro. Gary Howard officiated, with special music by Donnie Shelton.
Mrs. Burgess was born Aug. 1, 1951, in Crossville, the daughter of Charles B. and Betty K. Brown Johnson.
She was a real estate salesperson, and a member of the Assembly of God Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil Willard Gunter; son, Estel Gunter; daughter, Barbara Renfro; and four grandchildren, Teresa Renfro, Ricky Gunter, Vivian Gunter and Kelly Jones.

Mrs. Hyder was born Aug. 4, 1930, in Jellico, TN, the daughter of Ted and Martha Leach Davis.
She worked as a product processor for Rubbermaid in Wooster for many years, before retiring in 1989.

Mr. Johnston was born Sept. 25, 1910, in Lenoir City, TN, the son of Albert Webster and Nina Pearl Johnson Johnston.

HELON M. VANRIPER
Helon M. Vanriper, 79, of Fairfield Glade, passed away Feb. 28, 2001. Memorial services will be held Saturday, April 7, at 11 a.m. at Fairfield Glade Community Church, with the Rev. Dale Marshall officiating.
Mrs. Vanriper was born Sept. 15, 1921, in Coburn, VA, the daughter of Elizabeth Woodard and John Sprinkle.
She was employed by C&P Telephone Co. and Michigan Bell Telephone Co. as an operator and plant assigner.
Survivors include her husband, Donald R. Vanriper of Fairfield Glade; brother, Frank Sprinkle of Fairfield Glade; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and nine sisters and brothers.

Myra A. Beasley, 93, of Crossville, passed away March 26, 2001. Funeral services were conducted March 30 from the chapel of Burris Funeral Home, with burial in Green Acres Memory Gardens. Bro. Noble Wright officiated, with special music by the Homestead Church of Christ Singers.
Mrs. Beasley was born Jan. 1, 1908, in Rocky River, TN, the daughter of John and Calista Payne Thomison.
She was a homemaker, and a member of Homestead Church of Christ. She was an original Homesteader.
Survivors include her sons, Tony Beasley of Nashville, TN, and Kenneth Beasley of Sarasota, FL; son-in-law, Tate Welch of Crossville; sister, Pearl Boyd of McMinnville, TN; grandchildren, Mike Welch, Donna Hughes, Rhonda Potter, Alvin Beasley, Alice Hanson, Eric Beasley, Greg Beasley and Alansa Bishop; and 17 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Chester Beasley; and daughter, Yvonne Welch.

Edward "Ed" Bice, 68, of Crossville, passed away March 29, 2001. Funeral services were conducted April 1 from the chapel of Bilbrey Funeral Home, with burial in Crossville City Cemetery. Bro. Lyle Ledbetter officiated.
Mr. Bice was born July 14, 1932, in Overton County, TN, the son of Edward Gaither and Leona Walker Bice.
He was a self-employed mechanic.
Survivors include his brothers, Andy Bice and Doyle Bice, both of Crossville; sister, Frances Martell of Crossville; special nephews, Jamie Bice and Michael Bice, both of Crossville; special great-nephew, A.J. Bice of Crossville; and special great-niece, Tabitha Bice of Crossville.

Mrs. Mathis was born Oct. 30, 1948, in Cumberland County, the daughter of Doyle and Doris Saylors Young.

HARSHEL BOWMAN
Harshel Bowman, 82, of Hanging Limb, TN, passed away March 28, 2001. Funeral services were conducted March 30 from the chapel of Goff Funeral Home in Monterey, with interment in Hanging Limb Cemetery. The Rev. J.B. Harris, the Rev. Johnny Jones and the Rev. Jerry Harris officiated. Full military honors were presented by the Veterans Honor Guard.
Mr. Bowman was born Aug. 3, 1918, in Overton County, TN, the son of Grant and Nellie Key Bowman.
He was a retired factory worker and a farmer, and was of the Baptist faith. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, and a member of the Livingston VFW.
Survivors include his daughter, Gail Harris of Hanging Limb; sons, Bruce Bowman, Lavon Bowman and Troy Bowman, all of Hanging Limb; sisters, Hazel Norod and Roxie Walker, both of Hanging Limb; brother, A.G. Bowman of Hanging Limb; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and a special friend, Deb Guffey of Hanging Limb.
He was preceded in death by his two wives, Lula Phillips Bowman and Lou Ann Bowman; and five brothers, Ivor Bowman, Clarence Bowman, Clayton Bowman, Cortes Bowman and Marce Bowman.

MICHAEL JOHN HARRIS

Mr. Harris was born July 8, 1958, in Crossville, the son of John Henry and Betty Jane Reed Harris.

Bernadette Marie Juif, 88, of Fairfield Glade, passed away March 22, 2001. Funeral services were conducted March 26 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, with the Rev. Gregory Boisvert officiating. Burial was in Sunland Memorial Park in Sun City, AZ.
Mrs. Juif was born July 11, 1912, in Detroit, MI, the daughter of Louis and Theresia Noecker Schmidt.
She was a homemaker, and of the Catholic faith.
Survivors include her sons, James Juif of Fairfield Glade, Richard Juif of Grayling, MI, and Bob Juif of Rochester, NY; daughters, Marilyn Gordon of Phoenix, AZ, and Kathleen Jury of Mackinaw City, MI; 24 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James M. Juif.

Mr. Kilburn was born Sept. 8, 1937, in Charleston, WV, the son of William Earl and Letha Kilburn.

BILL LEE
Bill Lee, 87, of Crossville, formerly of Rockwood, TN, passed away March 29, 2001. Funeral services were conducted March 30 from the chapel of Evans Mortuary in Rockwood, with Bro. Bob Holder officiating. Graveside services and interment were March 31 in Haley Grove Cemetery in Crab Orchard.
Mr. Lee was born July 22, 1913, in Putnam County, TN, the son of William A. and Dora Meyers Lee.
He was a retired boilermaker, and a member of Daysville Church of Christ.
Survivors include his sons and daughters-in-law, Arvil and Anna Lee, and Thomas and Wilma Lee, all of Crossville; daughter, Joyce Kidwell of Rockwood; brother, Jay Lee of Crab Orchard; 10 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Dora Lee; his wife, Celia Stacy Hughes Lee; and an infant son.

BRENDA KAY CUNNINGHAM RAFFERTY
Brenda Kay Cunningham Rafferty, 42, of Sparta, TN, passed away March 30, 2001. Funeral services were conducted April 2 from Smith Chapel Freewill Baptist Church, with burial in Smith Chapel Cemetery. Bro. Harold Robinson officiated.
Ms. Rafferty was born June 24, 1957, in Springfield, OH, the daughter of Dolores Ann Harris and James Franklin Cunningham.
She was a caregiver for the elderly and a nature photographer.
Survivors include her daughter, Nichole Grace Cunningham of Sparta; son, David Rafferty of Sparta; mother, Dolores Cunningham of Sparta; grandmother, Vernia Cunningham of Sparta; brothers, James D. She was a retired music teacher.

Mrs. Threet was born Dec. 23, 1947, in Jasper, IN, the daughter of Willie Arvil and Minnie Quarles Lee.
She was a waitress, and of the Nazarene faith.
Survivors include her mother, Minnie Quarles Lee of Cookeville; daughter, Marle Hale of Sparta, TN; son, Fred Threet of Crossville; brothers, Roy Arvil Lee of Clarksville, TN, and Robert Daniel Lee of Cookeville; sisters, Rachel Brown and Rebecca Threet, both of Cookeville; and grandson, Fred Threet Jr.
She was preceded in death by her father, Willie Arvil Lee; and a son, Issac Threet Jr.
