If you have ever had a yen to take up watercolor painting, or a passion for horses and want to learn more about them, why not spend your winter afternoons pursuing your interests.
Interlochen Pathfinder School is offering a variety of afterschool programs for students ages three through adult. The classes, beginning this week, are open to the general public. Class offerings include:
      - Children's Theater with Tanya Donahue - for grades two through four, 3:45-5 p.m., Mondays and Wednesdays. Young actors will learn about theater while producing the musical stage show "A Salute to Broadway." The production will be performed for the public at 6:30 p.m., Wednesday, March 8 with a school performance and pizza lunch on Friday, March 10. The tuition is $100 for seven weeks.
      - FLY (Financial Literacy for Youth) with Andrea Hornby - for ages three to eight, 3:30 to 4:45 p.m., Tuesdays. FLY is a financial literacy program that creatively integrates financial and character education within a global context. Each FLY adventure focuses on a specific continent and nature theme. This winter, the students will have fun indoors and outdoors exploring South America on the Wild Water Tour through exciting games, role-playing, crafts, movement and music. This program was written by two Pathfinder parents, Leslie and Erik Falconer. The tuition is $140 for eight weeks, including an original music CD.
      - Lets Talk About Horses with Sue Boyer - for grades K through three, 3 to 4 p.m., Wednesdays. Enter the exciting world of horses where students will learn about the anatomy and care of a horse, the veterinary care of horses, type and use, how to buy a horse, horse equipment, showing horses and making a scrapbook of their own dream horse. No horse is needed for this class. All materials are included. The tuition is $100 for eight weeks.
      - Watercolor Studio with Duncan Sprattmoran - for grade five through adult, 3:45 to 5 p.m., Mondays and Thursdays. Students will develop their artistic eye and learn to express themselves while applying principles of drawing used in watercolor painting. Composition, brush technique, additive principles of color and many other visual topics are covered during this class. No previous experience required. Students must furnish their own materials for the class. The tuition is $100 for eight weeks.
