The Traverse City West Senior High Athletic Boosters hopes their latest fund-raising effort is a hole-in-one.
The club will host a Golf Ball Bounce from 2 to 5 p.m., Saturday at the Mistwood Golf Course in Traverse City. As many as 3,000 numbered golf balls will be dropped onto the green from a 150 foot crane. The owner of the ball that comes closest to the pin will win the first place prize of $10,000. The second prize winner will take home $5,000 and $2,500 will go to the third place winner. All prizes are based on the sale of 3,000 balls.
Tickets for the golf balls, numbered from 0001 to 3000, are available for $20 from members of the boosters club and at Mistwood Golf Course on the morning of the event.
The funds raised at this event will be used to support the boys and girls sport's teams of Traverse City West High School.
"With the drop in all school funding, sports have really taken a hit. We hope by doing this that when teams come to us for equipment or other needs, we will have a purse to be able to provide what they need," said booster club member, Biz Ruskowski.
In addition to the Golf Ball Bounce, bids will be taken on 35 prizes during a silent auction throughout the day Saturday.
For tickets and complete details, call 933-7588 or visit www2.tcaps.net/wsh/golfballdrop. Ticket holders must be at least 18-years-old to participate and need not be present to win.
