Romantic ballads and up tempo love songs will fill the air Sunday evening when Trillium, a women's singing ensemble, headlines "The Glory of Love" concert.
Trillium, along with featured guests including the Elk Rapids High School Chamber Choir, Traverse City Central High School's Men of Note and Traverse City East Junior High's Chamber Choir, will perform love songs for all ages at the concert set for 4 p.m. at the First Congregational Church on Center Road.
Candice Wallace, a retired choral teacher from the South Lyon school system, began Trillium two years ago after moving to the area.
"I missed my choirs so I decided to start this one and low and behold some women showed up to sing," Wallace said.
Last spring, she organized the Women's Choral Festival in part to inspire younger singers to continue singing as adults.
This year's "The Glory of Love" concert spotlights local young talent, both male and female, singing classic and new favorites including "Can You Feel the Love Tonight," "If Ever I Should Leave You," and "People Will Say We're In Love." Men of Note will perform an original piece by their director and Central High School choral director, Jeff Cobb.
"I have heard all of the groups perform and have been very impressed. I thought it would be a nice idea to pull these talented groups together to perform," Wallace said.
"We'll be singing a mixture of jazz, pop and traditional pieces. It should be a real audience pleaser," Wallace noted.
