Old sleds find new life

Spectators admire a line of restored snowmobiles Saturday at a vintage and antique snowmobile show and swap meet held at Peegeo’s Restaurant in Traverse City.

Allen Prause, 6, of Karlin takes his father’s 1971 Ski-Doo Blizzard 340 for a spin. Doug Prause says the snowmobile is a rare sled as only 250 were built. Doug Prause is an avid vintage snowmobile collector who currently owns 43 sleds.




This 1968 Ski-Doo Alpine owned by Monty and Jill Wiseman is adorned with a vintage snowmobile suit, hat and helmet.


Peegeo’s vintage and antique snowmobile show drew some unusual creations including this twin track 1966 Bolens Hus-ski 444 owned by Larry Salo.


Ron Ramoie of Traverse City checks the fuel system of his latest snowmobile purchase: a 1963 Polaris K700 Snowtraveler. Ramoie, who had both a 1964 Arctic Cat Model 100 and a 1968 Sears snowmobile on display, says the Polaris will join his other eight project sleds.
