Cherries Jubilant

Traverse City band Salmon of the Brook opens the NeXt2Y night Monday at the National Cherry Festival Bay Side Entertainment Stage. NeXt2Y night also featured the bands Indulge and the Bilham Brothers, a lip synch contest and audience challenges for area teens and young adults. Salmon of the Brook are Reese Gallagher, guitar, Josh Mitchell, guitar/lead vocals, John Hanson, bass/vocals and Jon Tornga on drums.

Cherries by the cupful are spread out on a table sponsored by Gallaghers Farm Market of Traverse City.

Children try out their angler abilities at the Fishing Pond in the Festival Open Space, sponsored by Fifth Third Bank and Grand Traverse Tackle Box. In addition to the fishing pond, the Cherry Festival will be holding a Casting Kids program which teaches children fishing techniques.

Daring to ride the Tilt-a-Whirl just after eating pizza, Vicki Ross, Kylie Ross, 13, and Chelsea Hoffman, 11, enjoy an afternoon spin on the Arnold Amusements Midway.
