Kids Day America emphasizes health, environment and safety appreciation

Wellness event held Saturday at Grand Traverse Bay YMCA


Brianna Holden, 4, of Traverse City use a crayon to draw her nervous system after having her body outline drawn by a volunteer with the Northern Michigan Chiropractic Alliance. The annual Kids Day America event, presented by the chiropractic alliance, is dedicated to issues surrounding lifestyle choices that affect children’s health, safety and environmental awareness.




After examining Stufee’s internal organs, children listen to their own heartbeat at an information booth provided by Great Lakes Children’s Museum.

Right: Children check out the underside of a United States Coast Guard helicopter flown in from the Traverse City air station. Along with safety displays, Kids Day America featured information on physical health, fitness, emotional health, nutrition, life enrichment and environment.


Members of the Grand Traverse Fire Department help youngsters try on full firefighter gear. Other safety demonstrators included the United States Coast Guard, Grand Traverse County Sheriff’s Department and DARE, State Farm Insurance and Michigan State Police canine unit.
