Tom and Jerry, 11-year-old Belgium horses owned by Jim Breithaupt of Thompsonville, take a well-deserved break from turning over the spring earth during the 13th annual Plow Day held Sunday at the Cal and Willo Spangler Farm in Grawn.

Dave Youker of Traverse City and his six-year-old Belgium horses, Amos and Andy provided free wagon rides during Plow Day.

Despite a cracked rib and cold spring time temperatures, Cal Spangler brought his team of Belgiums, Rex and Jim out to work the field. The annual Plow Day event, held on Spangler’s farm in Grawn, featured old-fashioned plowing, discing and dragging.
