WSH stages ‘Ruddigore’ as spring musical

Gilbert and Sullivan operetta opens March 7 at West High

     With a humorous story line and serious dance moves, Traverse City West Senior High School will present Gilbert and Sullivan’s “Ruddigore” as their spring musical. Directors for the operetta are Russ Larimer, music director, Pat Gallagher, drama director, Erin Peck, choreographer and Cathy Sivits, director of the pit orchestra.

     Cast in major female roles are Jennifer Smith and Brenna Newton as Rose Maybud, Alexandria Eaton and Chelsea Kramer as Mad Margaret, Sarah Leibenguth and Khaki Pixley as Dame Hannah, Amy Baumann and Angela Boyle as Zorah, Karaline Griffin and Andrea Coors as Ruth and Laura Hagan, Erin Socia and Emily Lammers as the Three Little Witches.

     Cast in major male roles are Elijah Cornell and Myles Cornwell as Despard, Tyler Harkert and Ben Harrison as Robin Oakapple, Steve Holden-Corbett and Aaron Ingersoll as both Old Adam and Roderic, Brenton Sell and Mike Racine as Richard and Jonathon Cottrill as Rupert.

     “Ruddigore” opens on the WSH stage on Thursday, March 7. Other performance dates are March 8, 9, 14, 15, and 16. Tickets are now on sale at the WSH box office.

Dame Hannah, played by Khaki Pixley, and Sir Roderick Murgatoyd, played by Aaron Ingersoll, perform a musical number from “Ruddigore” during rehearsal Monday at WSH.




“Ruddigore” features the dancing talents of Amy Baumann, Micaela Church, Angela Boyle, Kristie George, Jonna Lefier, Leigh Scheffler, Jon Cottrill, Luke Purcell and Ryan Zimmerman.




Richard Dauntless, played by Mike Racine, is accused of being a traitor in this scene from the Gilbert and Sullivan operetta “Ruddigore.” The spring musical at Traverse City West Senior High School opens on the WSH stage on Thursday, March 7. Other performance dates are March 8, 9, 14, 15, and 16.




Rose Maybud, played by Jennifer Smith, does little to hide her contempt for Robin Oakapple, played by Ben Harrison, after his dastardly nature is revealed by Sir Dispard Murgatroyd.
