Traverse Bay Community School stages “Wizard of Oz” on Thursday
   Traverse Bay Community School follows the yellow brick road as the student production class presents L. Frank Baum’s “The Wizard of Oz” this Thursday.

   Directed by Marilyn Tilley, the cast includes fourth through eighth-grade production class students at Traverse Bay Community School. Reiko Lewis provides set design and piano accompaniment. A one-night public performance will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday. General admission tickets are $2 each.

   Cast members include Julia Pittenger as Dorothy, Chris Douglass as Scarecrow, Tommy Booth as Tin Man, James Bremer as Lion and Jackie Williston as the Wicked Witch of the West.

Uncle Henry, played by Tyler Sylvester, and Aunt Em, portrayed by Maresea Hansen, count eggs as Dorothy, played by Julia Pittenger, wishes she could go somewhere over the rainbow.




Members of the Bubble Gum Band, played by Aneka Saxon, Mindy Harvey and Alexis Bremer, welcome Dorothy to Munchkin land.


A witch from the deep south, Adda Pearl, played by Ellen Pellar, offers advice to Dorothy about meeting the Wizard of Oz. Providing musical backup are the Pearlettes: Wanda Lou, Hannah James; Scarlett, Clarissa Lewis; Blanche, Aneka Saon; Ellie Mae, Erin Anderson and Daisy Sue, Kelsey Wodzien.


Trying to put on a brave face, the cowardly Lion, played by James Bremer, hides behind a tree as he prepares to pounce on Dorothy and her friends from Oz.


Good witch Glinda, played by Antonia Brian, confirms Dorothy’s suspicion that she is not in Kansas anymore, but the magical world of Oz.
