All Species Parade celebrates Earth Day in TC

Marchers guide a giant turtle down Washington Street during the All Species Parade Sunday in Traverse City. The annual Earth Day event drew hundreds of participants despite less than spring-like temperatures.




All creatures great and small, including one year old Anna Cantrell of Cedar, gathered along Washington Street to watch the All Species Parade.




All Species Parade participants line up along F&M Park in Traverse City. The parade route started at the city park and followed Washington Street to the Grand Traverse County Civic Center.




Parade marchers make their way to the outdoor amphitheater at the Civic Center for a celebration of music, entertainment, food and guest speakers.

The All Species Parade featured everything from large-scale puppets, such as this elaborate otter, to papier mache masks created by local elementary school students.
