Dorothy Eisenstein and dance students, Tanja Weyeneth and Laura Jewell work with children and parents during a creative movement class Saturday at the Dennos Museum Center at Northwestern Michigan College. The dance demonstration was part of Family Day activities at the museum.

Participants use colorful ribbon to ‘paint’ moving works of art in a creative movement class.

Children create their own collage of shapes, lines and patterns attaching them to a fabric wall.

Onalee Rohl, 3 1/2 and her mother, Sarah of Thompsonville work together on a string painting.

Ethan Commings, 20 months old, uses a paint brush and his fingers to create a colorful masterpiece. Other hands-on art activities at the Dennos Museum Family Day included bubble wrap painting, torn paper and texture rubbings.

Children had a chance to let their creative juices flow in a music making workshop with Nancy Landfair featuring assorted drums, xylophones and other instruments.
