Wood crafts works of art

14th annual boat show docks on Boardman River bank

Nearly 60 vintage vessels line the Boardman River Saturday afternoon at the 14th annual Boats on the Boardwalk. The judged boat show featured models and sizes ranging from a 27 foot Sea-Skiff to an eight foot Chris Craft Pram.

Ted Schroeder Jr. pulls out a bottle of sunscreen from the engine bay of his parent’s 1939 Chris Craft Torpedo. The custom runabout, owned by Ted and Margaret Schroeder of Torch Lake, features a Hercules M 130 motor.

Reflecting a 50s motif, this 1959 Larson owned by Bill, Mike and Bobby Ballard of Lake Ann sports wooden water-skis and glass Coke bottles. “Bimbo” is a 14 foot Pla-Boy model featuring a 60 horsepower Mercury motor.
