KOKOMO
CLIPPER
D
ubbed Kokomo’s new “hot
spot,” Buckeye Street and
the old train depot district
is the place to be. Whether
you are looking for a great
place to eat, a yummy pastry,
or a great hair salon, Buckeye
Street has something for every-
one.
You will find the street bus-
tling with activity, no matter
what time of day you visit. The
fun and eclectic style of the
street and the warm welcome
of all of the shop owners
makes Buckeye Street a truly
unique experience.
Fade Salon, located at 507
N. Buckeye Street, was the first
business that returned to the
abandoned depot district. One
step inside Fade Salon and you
know that you are in for an
experience unlike traditional
hair salons in our area. “We are
truly unique in this industry.
Everything from our progressive
look and feel, relaxed friendly
environment, to our willingness
to have fun with each and
every person distinguishes us
from all other salons.” Fade
specializes in all forms of hair
care, color, and styling. They
also have a focus on skin care,
massage, waxing, and makeup
application. Co-owner Lindsay
Ogle created the Fade Salon
philosophy. She envisioned a
place where stylists and clients
alike could come and enjoy
themselves in a creative envi-
ronment free of the judgment.
Fade has become one of the
fastest growing salons in the
state. Fade would like all new
potential customers to know
that they are wanted and wel-
come. No matter how basic or
crazy creative your desires…
we will make it happen!!
Next door to Fade Salon, you
find the sweet confectionary
concoctions of the Gingerbread
House Bakery at 505 N. Buck-
eye Street. You can’t help but
smile and swoon when you
walk into the Gingerbread
House. The amazing smells
and tasty treats are a feast for
your senses. The Gingerbread
House is a full service bakery
offering delicious donuts,
cakes, candies, breads, des-
serts, cheesecakes, pastries
and many, many other bakery
items. Need a cake for a spe-
cial event? Gingerbread can
provide anything from a basic
sheet cake to a beautiful wed-
ding cake to the custom 3-D
cake of your dreams. You will
not be disappointed with your
choice of the Gingerbread
House Bakery. Owners Matt
and Lauren Gaines are con-
stantly adding new products to
the lineup to make sure there’s
always something new when-
ever you visit.
Now if you are looking for a
full meal, pop in next door to
Gabetta’s at 503 N. Buckeye
Street. Chris and Annie Thatch-
er opened Gabettas in 2014.
You can enjoy delicious break-
fast and lunches seven days a
week and dinners Thursday,
Friday and Saturday evenings.
Customers have taken an
extreme fondness to the family
friendly atmosphere, great ser-
vice, and high quality comfort
food. Signature items include
Grandma Neal’s chocolate
gravy and biscuit, and the
home-style “Junk Plate,” con-
sisting of hash browns topped
with two eggs, a choice of
breakfast meat and Colby jack
cheese melted on top. The
food is always fresh and the
faces are always friendly at
Gabetta’s. You’ll be happy you
stopped in for a visit.
