DEMPSEY WILSON SR.

Funeral services for Dempsey Wilson Sr., 73, of Aster Street, Crossville, who passed away Oct. 19, 1998, were held Oct. 21 from the chapel of Bilbrey Funeral Home, with burial in Green Acres Memory Gardens. Bro. Fred Holcomb officiated.

He was born May 1, 1925 in Putnam County, TN, the son of Shirley and Pearl Wittaker Wilson.
Mr. Wilson was a master machinist, and he was a member of Faith Baptist Church. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served in both World War II and the Korean War.

Survivors include his wife, Geneva Parsons Wilson of Crossville; sons, Ralph Wilson, Fred Wilson, Jeff Wilson and Lane Madewell, all of Crossville, and Wayne Madewell of Cookeville; daughter, Pat Fields and Alline Henry, both of Crossville; 15 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; sisters, Genevive Scipior of Florida, and Daisy Simmons of California; and brother, Dillon Wilson of Idaho.

He was preceded in death by his brothers and sisters, Dovie Wright, Hazel Owens, Billie Wilson, Deleighla Wilson, Dayton Wilson and Aulune Pugh.

Pallbearers were Michael Wilson, Chris Wilson, Jody Wilson, Rick Henry, Bryan Wilson, Corey Wilson, Dick Henry and Dale Henry.

JAMES ARLIS WYATT

Graveside services for James Arlis Wyatt, 20, of Quail Hollow Road, Crossville, will be held at 2 p.m., today, Oct. 23, from Hale's Chapel Cemetery. Bro. Barry Lee will officiate. Mr. Wyatt's exact date of death has not been determined.

He was born March 16, 1969 in Germany.
Survivors include his grandparents, Beecher and Thelma Wyatt of Crossville; sister, Panela Holmes of West Moreland, TN, and Angela Ruiz of Huntsville, TN; aunt, Jean Chafins; two nieces; and two nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, James William Wyatt.

JAMES AARON ELLER

Funeral services for James Aaron Eller, 72, of Wells Road, Crossville, who passed away Oct. 17, 1998, were held Oct. 19 from the chapel of Bilbrey Funeral Home, with burial in Crossville City Cemetery.

He was born June 1, 1926 in Cumberland County, the son of Anderson Joe and Flora Mae Dotson Eller. Mr. Eller was self-employed in rock quarry work, and he was a member of the West Avenue Church of Christ.

Survivors include his brothers, Joe Eller and Roy Eller, both of Crossville.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Anderson and Flora Mae Eller, and brother, Clarence Eller. Pallbearers were Jerry Eller, Larry Eller, Dave Barcus, Jerry Mangus, Steve Moore and George Wells. Bro. Royce Farris officiated.

DR. ERNEST H. WELLS

Ernest Hatton Wells, of Huntsville, AL, passed away Oct. 16, 1998. He was born Aug. 1, 1921 in Crossville. He graduated from Cumberland County High School in 1940 with distinction in science, operated Wells Radio Service until Pearl Harbor, then joined the Civil Service, being assigned to numerous schools for electronics, then to radio school for radar training. He served on Guam and Iwo Jima with the 55th Weather Recon Squadron/20th Air Force in World War II as radar chief.

After discharge Feb. 26, 1946, he completed a degree at Tennessee Technological University in 1951 and worked at Airplane Marine Instruments Inc. in Clearfield, PA, as an electronics project engineer. In December 1953, he went to the Washington National Airport, then to ERDL Fort Belvoir, VA, as project engineer, leading two expeditions to the Greenland ice cap for research on guidance systems. After one and a half years as radar engineer with the Navy Department, he joined the ABMA Wernher von Braun team at Redstone Arsenal in 1951 as telemetry engineer for Cape Kennedy (Canaveral) Redstone firings, and project engineer for R&D White Sands, NM, firings.

Mr. Wells supervised four laboratories in electronics and optics, then joined the NASA MSFC as project engineer on geophysical satellites in 1962. Requested by Dr. Ernst Stuhlinger, director, Space Sciences Laboratory, he was assigned to lunar surface studies, optics and planetology and helped discover water on Mars. He designed the SSL Solar Observatory and pursued research in solar phenomena, Raman spectroscopy, remote sensing of natural resources, water and air contamination, microscopic airborne particle detection, space instruments, design of solar simulators, comets, meteors and space telescopes. He managed a study for a rocket-borne, manned telescope for use on the moon.

In 1954, he married Signa Faye Stinnett. They had four boys: David Allen, deceased, and William Ernest, Ronald Eston and Lawrence Robert. After viewing two large UFOs in 1950, and photographing another one in 1967 (Ref. Condon Report Case #54, University of Colorado), he held the position that all natural phenomena should be researched. He taught electronics at TTU from 1947-48, and courses in UFOs and World Mysteries at the University of Alabama in 1978.

His education included the BSEE degree plus physics major from TTU in 1951; more than 33 post-graduate courses from 10 colleges and universities; D.Sc. College of Technology, Sussex, United Kingdom in 1973; PhD ibid, 1974; and advanced diplomas, certificates, letters of appreciation and honors, including Apollo-Sooyuz Award from NASA in 1969, Award of Achievement ibid, 1969, and certificates of recognition from NASA.

His hobbies included genealogy, oil painting, camera collecting, astronomy studies, song writing and lecturing. Genealogy researches concentrated on locating the residence of a grandfather, William Bill Wells, who was born in the British Isles in 1822, and escaped religious persecution to serve on the crew of the passenger ship Cambria, leaving children in the United Kingdom named Charles, William and possibly, Noah and Nannie or Mary. Information would be much appreciated. Dr. Wells held a first class FCC radio license.

Publications include 54 professional reports and papers including, "Small Optical Telescopes on the Moon," Spaceflight v14 #14, "Martian Blue Haze and Flash Phenomena," with Dr. Daniel P. Hale, Nature, v. 232, July 1971, (believed the first scientific, modern evidence for water on Mars; now accepted), "Experiments and Instrumentation for Scientific Investigation of the Moon," co-author, NASA TMS 53287, 1967. Books include, Astronomy Finds the Days of Creation, 1972; and Search for Life in Space, 1975, Dehoff Publications, Murfreesboro, TN. Songs written include, "Impeachment Blues," and "America Stand Up and Sing."

Memberships included Fellow, IBC; Society of Professional Engineers; Tennessee Optical Society of America, Huntsville chapter; Mutual UFO Network (MUFON); Broadcast Music Institute; and Church of Christ. Former memberships included the American Rocket Society; American Astronomical Society; Rocket City Astronomical Association; and IEEE (senior member).

Researchers include, lunar surface properties, solar system origin, origin of the moon, solar H-Alpha, solar wind, Arctic ice electromagnetic properties, optical radar, telescopic optics, atmospheric pollution, and UFOs.

Dr. Wells was employed by NASA on the staff of the Optics and RF Systems Division EC31, MSFC, Marshall Space Flight Center, in Alabama, in space optics.
The family resides at 712 Kilkenny St., NW, Huntsville, AL, 35805.

IRA REED

Funeral services for Ira Reed, 87, of Crossville, who passed away Oct. 13, 1998, were held Oct. 16 from the chapel of Burris Funeral Home, with burial in Grassy Cove Methodist Church Cemetery.
He was born July 1, 1911 in Cumberland County, the son of George and Hattie Reed.
Mr. Reed was a farmer.
Survivors include his wife, Nannie Reed of Crossville; daughters, Reba Wiggins, Lenior, NC; Goldie Wolfenbarger of San Bern, CA; and Carol Martin of Crossville; stepdaughters, Patricia Winningham of Wheeling, IL; and Jean Stevens of Crossville; son, George Reed of Crossville; stepson, Dean Winningham of Crossville; sister, Marie Tesh of Newport News, VA; nine grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wives, Mary Heflin Reed and Edna Hillary Reed; daughter, Ethel Reed Russell; parents, George and Hattie Reed; and brothers, Richard Reed and James Reed.

Pallbearers were Jason Reed, Ben Reed, Zachary Martin, Billy Johnson, Mark Martin and Robert Martin. The Revs. Russell Honeycutt and Jim Rogers officiated.

LEONARD D. EVANS

Leonard D. "L.D". Evans, of Fairfield Glade, was born July 2, 1924 in Warwick County, IN, the youngest of 10 children. Mr. Evans passed away Oct. 15, 1998. He served in the U.S. Navy submarine force, and distinguished himself by being awarded the U.S. Navy Cross and various other citations.

Mr. Evans married Patricia Jones on Jan. 9, 1948, and was the father of three daughters, Kim, Pam and Debra. He was educated at Colorado State University as an electrical engineer and worked for Ford Motor Company in the capacity of manager of plant engineering. He worked 10 years as general manager for Gulf and Western automotive division. He was active in Kiwanis, Elks and Lions clubs. He was an active volunteer firefighter who never lost a foundation, past president of the Plymouth, MI, Chamber of Commerce and served in numerous positions in community service to better his fellow man.

With all this public activity, he always had time for his wife, daughters and especially his four grandchildren, Lauren and Brian Jones and Rebekah and Mallory Colby. He died doing what he enjoyed most, riding his beloved horse Rebel.

He is preceded in death by his father and mother and six siblings. Mr. Evans lived life as it should be by helping his fellow man and achieving all that he possibly could. He loved his wife and kids more than life itself. Shed no tear but he happy. Remember that he no longer has to put up with petty politicians who make life miserable for all of us.

In lieu of flowers, he wanted you to donate to his favorite charities, the Humane Society of Cumberland County or Hospice of Cumberland County.

We will miss you greatly and will remember you forever until we meet you again.

CHARLES HAGGARD BROWN

Funeral services for Charles Haggard Brown, 61, of Crossville, who passed away Oct. 13, 1998, are scheduled tonight, Oct. 16, at 8 from the chapel of Burris Funeral Home. Graveside services will be conducted Oct. 17 at 11 a.m. in Anderson Memorial Gardens in Clinton, TN.

He was born Nov. 26, 1936 in Clearfield, TN, the son of Joe and Florence Brown.
Mr. Brown was a retired truck driver for Kroger.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Brown of Crossville; son, Joey Brown of Knoxville; stepsons, James Smith of Oliver Springs, TN, and Joey Smith of Oak Ridge, TN; daughters, Cindy Walker and Shanda Ajam, both of Knoxville; stepdaughter, Cindy Reece of Knoxville; brothers, William Brown of Knoxville, and Tony Brown of Oliver Springs; sisters, Sue Myers of Oliver Springs, and Dutchie Casteel of Oak Ridge; 10 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

MARTIN H. CATE

Funeral services for Martin H. Cate, 32, of Jefferson City, who passed away Oct. 13, 1998, are scheduled for today, Oct. 16, at 2 p.m. from the chapel of Farrar Funeral Home in Jefferson City.

He was born June 22, 1966 in Jefferson City, the son of Hugh E. and Clara Silver Cate.
Mr. Cate was a former police officer in White Pine, TN, and in Crossville, and had most recently worked for the Jefferson County Sheriff's Department. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Jefferson City. Survivors include his wife, Melissa Hall Cate of Crossville; mother, Clara Silver Cate of Jefferson City; sister and brother-in-law, Sharon and Tom Friar of Knoxville; sister and brother-in-law, Bethany and Scott Snodgrass of Jefferson City; nieces, Catelyn Snodgrass and Mary Grace Friar; nephew, Hugh Friar; and many other family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Hugh E. Cate.

BOBBY GENE TREVENA

Graveside services for Bobby Gene Trevena, 66, of Scarlett Drive, Crossville, who passed away Oct. 10, 1998, were conducted Oct. 12 in Green Acres Memory Gardens.

He was born Jan. 21, 1932 in Sevier County, TN, the son of Conley and Nancy Edith Whaley Trevena. Mr. Trevena was a parts salesman for Jim Reed, and he was of the Baptist faith. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during the Korean War.

Survivors include his wife, Joyce Grace Trevena of Crossville; son, Randall Trevena of Crossville; and brothers, Bill Trevena of Florida, and Jim Trevena of California.

WILLIAM "BILL" SEVIER FLYNN

Funeral services for William "Bill" Sevier Flynn, 72, of Burnett Street, Crossville, who passed away Oct. 4, 1998, were held from the chapel of Bilbrey Funeral Home, with burial in Crossville City Cemetery.

He was born Oct. 25, 1925 in Cumberland County, the son of Thomas W. and Ollie Mae Sevier Flynn.
Mr. Flynn established the Flynn Sign Company, and he was member of First Baptist Church. He was a charter member of the Crossville Rotary Club, and was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Marine Corps.

Survivors include his wife, Bil Flynn of Crossville; son and daughter-in-law, Tom and Rachel Flynn of Crossville; daughters and sons-in-law, Suzanne and Wayne Smith, and Patch Turner, all of Crossville; grandchildren, Stuart Smith, Shannon Turner, Aly Flynn and Wil Flynn; and sisters, Norma Hill and Thelma Ramsey, both of Knoxville.

Pallbearers were Roger Cole, Mark Cole, Danny Cole, Mark Branham, Charles Andrews, Lee Ramsey and Phil Ramsey.

ABIGAIL HOFFSOMMER

Abigail Hoffsommer passed away Oct. 8, 1998, in Pleasant Hill.
She was born Jan. 25, 1910, in Tokyo, Japan, the daughter of Dr. Walter Edward and Grace Posey Hoffsommer. Her father was principal of The American School in Japan.

Miss Hoffsommer graduated from ASU in 1927, after which she attended Carlton College in Northfield, MN. After graduating from Carlton, she began a teaching position at Ginling College in Nanking, China, teaching English to Chinese students.

After returning to the United States, prior to the Japanese invasion, she for several years was editor of Mountain Life and Work at Berea College in Kentucky. In 1940, she moved to New York City, where she worked variously for United China Relief, American Telephone and Telegraph, the New York City Library and Maxson Engineering, and well as performing volunteer work as a nurse's aide. After World War II, she became a member of Riverside Church, and was active in its women's programs.

In 1955, she joined the professional staff of what is now the United Board of Christian Higher Education in Asia; she retired in 1975. Returning to New York, Miss Hoffsommer supported her mother, and found time as a volunteer for the Metropolitan Opera and Metropolitan Museum of Art, as well as acting in and directing plays in her LaSalle Street group.

Miss Hoffsommer retired to Uplands Retirement Village at Pleasant Hill 10 years ago. She became active in church committees and spearheaded the Armchair Theater group reading plays for enjoyment. Survivors include her brothers, Walter Alfred Hoffsommer and Kay P. Hoffsommer, both of Ridley Park, PA; and sister, Joyce Poole of Lansdale, PA.

ELEANOR LAVERNE KINNEY

A memorial service for Eleanor LaVerne Kinney, 84, County Seat Road, Crossville, who passed away Sept. 20, 1998, were held Sept. 26 at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, with burial in Augusta, IN. Bro. Edward Lovett officiated.

She was born Aug. 6, 1914, in Princeton, IN, the daughter of Faurus McConnell and Janetta Potter McConnell.

Mrs. Kinney was a housewife, and she was a member of the Jehovah's Witnesses.
Survivors include her husband, Loyal V. Kinney of Crossville; daughter, Sharon Payne of Crossville; grandson, Shawn Kinney of Winston Salem, NC; and stepgrandchildren, Kevin, John and Davis Payne. She was preceded in death by a son, Robert Oral Kinney.

MARY AMMIE MARTIN

Funeral services for Mary Ammie Martin, 98, of Old Rockwood Road, Crossville, who passed away Oct. 9, 1998, were held Oct. 11 from the chapel of Bilbrey Funeral Home, with burial in Green Acres Memory Gardens. Bro. Buford Kelley officiated.

She was born March 19, 1900, in Sparta, TN, the daughter of Charles Guy Black and Linnie Snodgrass Black.

Mrs. Martin was a school teacher and a post master, and she was of the Methodist faith. She was an active member of the Eastern Star, Legion Auxiliary and the Business and Professional Women's Club.

Survivors include her daughters and sons-in-law, Elizabeth and George Peavyhouse, and Rachel and Vernon Tabor, all of Crossville; nine grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and sister, Martha Hall of Crossville.

She was preceded in death by her husband, E.O. Martin; son, Charles W. Martin; daughter, Linnie Williams; and sister, Corinne Black.
Pallbearers were Doug Tabor, Marshall Tabor, John Eggers, Charles Martin, Lee Beaty, Steve Williams, Chance Byars and Charlie Norris.

SAMUEL "SAM" JOSEPH PACE

Funeral services for Samuel "Sam" Joseph Pace, 59, of McMinnville, TN, who passed away Oct. 3, 1998, were held Oct. 6 at Baker's Crossroads Freewill Baptist Church, with burial in Pomona Cemetery. Bro. Kenneth Young officiated.

He was born March 25, 1939, in Cumberland County, the son of Claude L. and Anna Ruth Cline Pace.
Mr. Pace was a farm worker, and he was a member of the Church of Christ.
Survivors include his sisters, Dorothy L. Miller of Crossville and Bonnie Mae Austin of Monterey.

ORMAND ARTHUR NITSCHKE

Funeral services for Ormand Arthur Nitschke, 79, of Crossville, who passed away Oct. 5, 1998, were held Oct. 8 from Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church, with burial in Crossville City Cemetery.

He was born April 2, 1919 in Bay County, MI, the son of August and Louise Loehne Nitschke.
Mr. Nitschke was a carpenter with Better Made Cabinets Co. of Florida. He was a member of the Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church.

Survivors include his wife, Roseline Nitschke of Crossville; daughters, Mrs. Lee (Janice) Scarberry of Cumberland County, Mrs. Albert (Joyce) Nietzke of Pinconning, MI, and Mrs. Brian (Susan) Lauer of Alba, FL; brothers, Harold Nitschke of Cumberland County, and Herman Nitschke of Van Horn, TX; six grandsons; and one granddaughter.

Pallbearers were Jay Hockenberry, Harold Hughes, Robert Mason, Lloyd Miller, Allen Neuber, Jonathan Penney, Robert Stepp and Bill Vidmar.

JAMES MILTON SUTTON

Funeral services for James Milton Sutton, 76, of Monterey, who passed away Oct. 8, 1998, were held Oct. 11 from the chapel of Horner Funeral Home, with burial in Welch Memorial Cemetery. Military Honors were conducted by Monterey VFW, Post 6277, of which Mr. Sutton was a member.

He was born Aug. 8, 1922 in Monterey, the son of John L. and Beulah Cook Sutton.
Mr. Sutton was a member of the Monterey First Baptist Church, and he was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in World War II. He received many decorations and citations for his participation in battles and campaigns in Normandy, northern France, Ardennes, central Europe and the Rhineland. He was a member of the Monterey Masonic Lodge, 751 F&AM. He was a former employee of Tennessee Central Railroad, and was a retired engineer with the B&O Railroad.

Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Ruth Whittaker Sutton; daughter and son-in-law, Mary John and Douglas Woerl of Dayton, OH; grandson, Jason Woerl of Dayton, OH; and brothers, Freddie Sutton of Monterey, and Carl and Buford Sutton, both of Crossville.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Talmage and Joe Sutton.
Pallbearers were Joe Wilson, Ron Helton, Jimmy Barnwell, Chris Almonrod, Eric and Christopher Higdon, and Charlie, Butch, John and Shane Sutton.

JAMES F. WHITE

Funeral services for James F. White, 68, of Crossville, who passed away Oct. 9, 1998, were held Oct. 12 from the chapel of Vaughn Funeral Home, with the Rev. Danny Jones officiating.

Burial was in Spring City Memorial Gardens.
He was born Sept. 3, 1930 in Rhea County, the son of Van Buren White and Zelma Moore White. Mr. White was a veteran of the Korean War, serving in the U.S. Army. He was a retired heavy equipment operator and was a member of Operating Engineers, Local 917. He attended the Adam's Hill Baptist Church in Morgan County.

Survivors include his wife, Phyllis Sumner White of Crossville; mother, Zelma "Sis" White of Spring City, TN; sons, Larry White of Soddy-Daisy, TN, and Michael White of Crossville; daughter, Vickie Ward of Westmoreland, TN; brothers, Charles "Bud" White of Michigan, Claudie White and Van White, both of Spring City, and Robert White of Snellville, GA; sisters, Barbara Moore of Spring City, and Wilma Bridges of Englewood, TN; eight grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

JOHN F. DOOLEY

Funeral services for John F. Dooley, 72, of Crossville, who passed away Oct. 2, 1998, were held Oct. 5 from the chapel of Bilbrey Funeral Home, with burial in Crossville City Cemetery.

He was born Aug. 13, 1926 in Crossville, the son of Brooks L. Dooley Sr. and Virginia Katherine Forgy Dooley.

Mr. Dooley served three terms as mayor of Crossville; from 1965-'66, 1973-'74 and 1979-'80. He was city water commissioner in 1959, and he served 12 years as a city commissioner, and one term as a state representative. For 35 years, he was a volunteer fireman; for 14 years, he was an auxiliary policeman.

A veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army, Mr. Dooley was finance officer for the American Legion Post No. 163, and acted as chairman for the American Legion's Big Brother Christmas Program.

Survivors include his daughter, Kathy Dooley Smith of Nashville; sons, Michael Dooley of Bean Station, TN, and John L. Dooley of New York, NY; seven grandchildren; and brother, Elmo Dooley of Cookeville. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Brooks L. Dooley Jr.; son, George Dooley, and another son who died in infancy.

Pallbearers were David Dooley, J.H. Graham, Ralph Barnwell, Bob Mitchell, Bob Crownover, retired Maj. Gen. George Edwards Jr., John Donnelly and L.A. Fox.

MARY ELIZABETH PICKERING HUNTSMAN

Graveside services for Mary Elizabeth Pickering Huntsman, 87, of Fairfield Glade, who passed away Oct. 7, 1998 in Greeneville West Health Care Center, Greeneville, TN, are scheduled today, Oct. 9, at 2 p.m. in Zion United Methodist Cemetery in Greeneville.

She was born April 14, 1911 in Virginia, the daughter of Walter and Letitia Pickering.
Mrs. Huntsman was retired from the Oak Ridge Nuclear Plant, and was a member of the Knoxville chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles P. Huntsman; parents, Walter and Letitia Pickering; brothers, Robert Pickering and Charles Pickering; and sisters, Maude Williams and Grace Begley. Pallbearers were her nephews and great-nephews.

WILLIAM LLOYD BECK

Graveside services for William Lloyd Bec, 91, of Princeton, KY, who passed away Oct. 1, 1998, were held Oct. 3 in Saratoga Cemetery in Lyon County, KY.
He was born Sept. 23, 1907 in Coconino County, Arizona Territory, the son of William Henderson Beck and Kate Gresham Beck.

Mr. Beck was a farmer and a self-employed bookkeeper and accountant. He was a member of the Kentucky Forest Industry Association, and he was of the Christian faith. He served in the National Guard, and was a veteran of the U.S. Army during World War II.

Survivors include his daughters, Nora Beck of Crossville, and Phyllis Beck of Princeton; grandchildren, David William Stites in Minneapolis, MN, Joseph Edward Stites of Nashville, and John Stites of Crossville; and sisters, Frances Fulton of Pittsburg, CA, Pauline Kemmer of Fredonia, KY, and Nina Gresham of Princeton.

He was preceded in death by brother, James Eldon Beck; sisters, Dorothy Werner, Martha Scudder, Mildred Peterson, Helen Sigler and Jane Conger; and nephew, Bill Kemmer.

WILLIAM "BILL" PRICE BRIGHT

Funeral services for William "Bill" Price Bright, 78, of Fairfield Glade, formerly of Monterey, who passed away Oct. 4, 1998, will be held Friday, Oct. 9 at 1 p.m. from the chapel of Horner Funeral Home in Monterey, with burial in Whittaker Cemetery.

He was born Jan. 25, 1920 in Monterey, the son of Anderson Dorsey Bright Sr. and Hallie Mae Walker Bright.
Mr. Bright was retired from Dayton Firestone, and he was a member of the Monterey United Methodist Church.

Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, William Donald "Don" and Lynn Bright of Louisville, KY; sisters, Gaynelle Turner and Daurine Edwards, both of Beaver Creek, OH, and Mary Blair of Dayton, OH; brothers, Paul Bright and Robert Bright, both of Beaver Creek, James Bright of Bradenton, FL, and George Bright of Monterey; grandchildren, Heather and Miranda Bright, Lisa Mitchell, and Daniel Litz; and great-grandchildren, Mikala and Joshua Litz and Trystan Hadley.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Judith C. Litz; sisters, Rebeca Bright, Sara Muncy and Priscilla Stamps; and brothers, Edwin and A.D. Bright Jr.

Family will receive friends Thursday, Oct. 8 from 6 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

WANDA ROSE HALL

Funeral services for Wanda Rose Hall, 73, of Open Range Road, Crossville who passed away Sept. 26, 1998, were held Sept. 28 from the chapel of Bilbrey Funeral Home, with burial in Big Lick Cemetery.

She was born May 22, 1925 in Cumberland County, the daughter of Albert and Edna Catherine Patton Brewer.

Mrs. Hall was a registered nurse with Cumberland Medical Center from its opening until her retirement in 1992. She was a member of Calvary Presbyterian Church.

Survivors include her husband, Ernest Hall of Crossville; daughter and son-in-law, Tina and Joel O'Connor of Nashville; sons and daughters-in-law, Joel and Cheryl Hall, and Jeff and Brenda Hall, all of Crossville; grandchildren, Shane and Ronna Graham, and Jeremy, Joshua, Jessica, Dani and Steven Hall; and sister, Alberta Whittenburg of Crossville.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Edna Brewer.
Pallbearers were her nephews, Albert Whittenburg, Bill Thompson, Jim Hall, Greg Hall, Al Wilson and Clay Wilson.

Funeral services Thomas "Tom" Jackson McKinney, 34, of Crab Orchard, who passed away Sept. 26, 1998, were held Sept. 29 from the chapel of Burris Funeral Home, with burial in Bat Town Cemetery in Crab Orchard.

He was born Oct. 9, 1963 in Crossville, the son of Frank and Frances Mason McKinney.
Mr. McKinney was an employee of Flowers Bakery Inc.
Survivors include his wife, Beth McKinney of Crab Orchard; daughters, Christina McKinney of Crawfordsville, IN; parents, Frank and Frances McKinney of the Chestnut Hill community; and brothers, Junior McKinney and Gary McKinney, both of Virginia, Tim McKinney of New Jersey, and Jeff McKinney of Crossville.
