Send us your 9/11 memoirs,
poems and thoughts
It hardly seems like one year ago the worst terrorist acts
on this continent unfolded in New York City and Washington D.C.
This nation and the world stood shocked as hijackers stole control
of four airliners and flew three of them into pre-selected targets,
killing thousands.
Passengers on a fourth fought back and caused the hijacked aircraft
to crash in Pennsylvania, far short of its unknown intended target.
We all watched the images on television with a plethora of
emotions fueled by unbelief that one human could do such a thing
to another. The events of Sept. 11 marked this nation for the
ages and forever changed so many aspects of our lives.
We are still feeling the effects of that early fall morning.
At the time of the attacks on the Twin Towers of the World
Trade Center and the Pentagon, many across the country and here
in Cumberland County felt moved to express their feelings with
the written word. Some wrote poems. Some wrote songs. Some wrote
a line or two and some wrote letters from the heart.
At the time the Chronicle did not have enough space to include
everyone's personal memoirs of Sept. 11.
With the anniversary of the attack just around the corner,
we are asking our readers to share with us their private thoughts,
poems, short stories, for a special tribute that will be published
on Tuesday, Sept. 10.
Send us your poems, letters you may have written. We want
to share how this tragedy affected our community and pay tribute
to so many thousands who lost their lives that day.
If you did not write something at the time, but feel led to
write a tribute at this time, we ask that you share it or a portion
of it with our readers. We ask that you keep your thoughts at
75 words or less.
Send your contributions to the Chronicle at 125 West
Ave., Crossville, TN 38555, or email them to mikemoser@volfirst.net,
or simply drop them by the Chronicle office.
If you have any questions, please call me at 484-5145.
