Ferdinand A. Beitz
July 23, 1912 - Sept. 20, 2005

Ferdinand "Ferde" Alexander Beitz, 93, of Crossville, passed away Sept. 20, 2005. Memorial services will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 1, at Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church in Crossville. The Rev. David Lampman will be officiating.
Mr. Beitz was born July 23, 1912, in Hader, NE, the son of John and Pauline Beitz.
He retired from the city of Roseville, MI, as a building inspector and was a member of Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church. He had many interesting hobbies, some of which included woodworking, gardening and photography. He was also a musician, avid golfer and a member of the Lions Club.
Survivors include his son, Bob Beitz of Franklin, TN; daughters and sons-in-law, Dorothy and James Matuschek of Roseville, MI, Jean and Jerry Mustin of Oak Ridge, TN, Linda and Bob Bracher of Florence, SC and Janet and Jon Steinhoff of Mancelona, MI; 11 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Myrtle Beitz; and seven brothers and sisters.

Roger R. Moser
March 15, 1933 - Sept. 22, 2005

Roger Russell Moser, 72, of Jasper, AL, passed away Sept. 22, 2005 at his home after a bout with cancer. A memorial service was held Saturday, Sept. 24, at Christ Methodist Church in Jasper. Interment will be in October in the Rome Cemetery in Shiloh, OH.
Mr. Moser was born March 15, 1933, at home in Shiloh, OH, the son of Russell and Lydia Moser.
He spent a lifetime working in the telephone industry, starting in construction in 1951 and retiring in 2000 in management. He worked as a laborer, installer/repairman, cable splicer, plant manager and later as a company manager.
He worked in Ohio, Iowa, Minnesota, Mississippi and Alabama for Northern Ohio Communications, Pella (IA) Telephone Co., North American Communications, Continental Telephone Company, Calhoun City (MS) Telephone Co., Telephone and Data Systems and Oakman Telephone Co.
He was an active member of Christ United Methodist Church where he served as chairman of the Board of Trustees, president of the Men's Club and served on the finance committee.
Mr. Moser was a member of the Oakman Lion's Club and had held membership over the years in Civitans, Kiwanis and Rotary. He served as president of the Calhoun City Chamber of Commerce.
He had served as a member of volunteer fire departments in Hector, MN, Thorsby, AL and Calhoun City, MS. He was also an amateur radio operator and was honored twice by the MARS network for relaying emergency messages during the Alaskan earthquake and during a train derailment in rural Minnesota.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Patricia Moser of Jasper; sons and daughters-in-law, Michael R. Moser and Susan of Crossville; Steven Moser of Hattiesburg, MS; and David and Tamara Moser of Birmingham; daughter and son-in-law, Leslie and David Spivey of Calhoun City, MS; brother and sister-in-law, Darrell and Shirley Moser of Kennesaw, GA; grandchildren, Amber Findley, Skye Moser, Tess Moser and Prudence Hamilton of Crossville; Anna Hamilton of Knoxville; Claire Hamilton of Asheville, NC; Nick Hamilton of Hobbs, NM; Amanda Glover and her husband, Chris, of Mississippi; Maggie Webster and her husband, Derrick, of Bessemer, AL; Kyle Spivey of Starkville, MS; and Leigh Moser of Mobile, AL.
Also, three nieces and two nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Geraldine Strong, of Shiloh, OH.
Honorary pallbearers were members of the Christ Methodist Church, Oakman Lion's Club, Satch Saddler, Milan Bright, Wayne Brown, Dr. Tom Camp and Edwin Banks. The Rev. Robert Mount officiated and Kilgore-Green Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Kathryn B. Tinsley
July 16, 1922 - Sept. 26, 2005

Kathryn Bell (Rogers) Tinsley, 83, of Crossville, passed away Sept. 26, 2005. A memorial service will be held in Crossville at a later date.
Mrs. Tinsley was born July 16, 1922 in Knoxville, the daughter of Maude (Bell) and Edward Rogers.
After graduating from Knoxville High School in 1940, she attended the University of Tennessee prior to her marriage to Marcus F. Tinsley. She was a homemaker, an avid golfer for 50 years, and a bridge player.
She was a longtime member of the First Congregational Church of Crossville.
Survivors include her husband of 60 years, Marcus F. Tinsley Sr., a retired lieutenant colonel of the United States Air Force, of Crossville; daughter, Sherry T. White and husband Blake of Kansas; son, Marcus F. Tinsley Jr. and wife Carol of Chattanooga; granddaughters, Kelle Gross and husband Brad of Kansas and Kathryn Snyder and husband Sam of Jasper, TN; grandson, Kevin Tinsley, a senior at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville; great-granddaughters, Cole and Abbey Gross of Kansas; nephews and cousins in Tennessee, Kentucky and Alaska.
She was preceded in death by her parents.

Opal M. Winningham
July 25, 1929 - Sept. 24, 2005

Opal M. Winningham, 76, of Crossville, passed away Sept. 24, 2005. Funeral services were conducted Sept. 28 from the chapel of Crossville Memorial Funeral Home, with Tim Beaty officiating and music by the Heavenly Travelers. Burial was in Green Acres Memory Gardens.
Ms. Winningham was born July 25, 1929 in Overton County, the daughter of Connie Ledbetter and Anna Mae Bybee Ledbetter.
She was a homemaker.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Helen and Bill Cochran of Farmington Hills, MI; grandchildren, Melissa Brzys and Michael Petty; and five great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her great-grandson, Derek Brzys; and brothers, Cleston and Ewing Ledbetter.
Pallbearers were Avery Wright, Robert Plummer, Devin Briggs, Gayron Wright, Brandon Briggs and Anthony Smith.

Charlie W. Hale
Sept. 23, 2005

Charlie W. Hale, 86, of Pikeville, passed away Sept. 23, 2005. Funeral services were conducted Sept. 27 from the chapel of Putnam-Reed Funeral Home of Pikeville, with the Revs. Dan Raines, Jerry Merciers and Timothy Churches officiating. Burial was in McDowell Cemetery.
Mr. Hale was of the Pentecostal faith.
Survivors include his children, Evelyn (Don) Smith of Crossville, Carolyn (Charles) Pettit, Jimmie (Cynthia) Hale and Charlene West, all of Pikeville, and Landon (Donna) Hale of Crossville; sisters, Flora (Hale) Hankins of Dunlap and Laura (Hale) Gideon of Spring City; brother, Tommy (Margaret) Hale; 22 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; several nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.

Charlotte M. Keith
March 22, 1954 - Sept. 23, 2005

Charlotte Maria Keith, 51, of Monterey, passed away Sept. 23, 2005. Visitation and remembrances were held Sept. 27 from the chapel of Hood Funeral Home.
Mrs. Keith was born March 22, 1954 in Hazard, KY, the daughter of Archie and Virginia Collison Smith.
She was a loving wife and mother.
Survivors include her husband, Tony Keith of Monterey; daughters, Shannon Blair of Monterey and Debi Blair of McMinnville; brother, Doug Smith of Middletown, OH; sisters, Cora King of Jackson, KY and Linda Otey of Charlotte, NC; and grandchildren, Breanna Gunn and Allie Gonzalez.

Nellie M. Vaughn
Dec. 31, 1933 - Sept. 23, 2005

Nellie Mae Vaughn, 71, of Crossville, passed away Sept. 23, 2005. Funeral services were conducted Sept. 26 from the Clarkrange chapel of Jennings Funeral Home, with Bro. Michael Swallows officiating. Burial was in Campground Cemetery.
Mrs. Vaughn was born Dec. 31, 1933, in Banner, TN, the daughter of Lester and Mae (Brown) Hall.
She was a cook at Clarkrange Elementary.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Vickie and Darrell Hall of Crossville; grandchildren, Kristin Hall and Sarah Hall of Crossville; sisters, Lois Atkinson of Galion, OH, Eula Smith of Galion, OH and Joyce Conley of Crossville; and brothers, Cleo Hall and Joe Hall of Galion, OH.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Cordell Vaughn.
Pallbearers were Gary Geer, Phillip Geer, Roger Miller, Jeremy Tayes, Joe Hall and J.C. Vaughn.

Ola B. Brewer
Dec. 29, 1920 - Sept. 20, 2005

Ola Burgess Brewer, 84, of Pikeville, passed away Sept. 20, 2005. Funeral services were conducted Sept. 24 from the chapel of Putnam-Reed Funeral Home, with Elders Clayton Evans and Roger Pennycuff officiating. Burial was in Beach Cemetery.
Mrs. Brewer was born Dec. 29, 1920, in Cumberland County, the daughter of W.E. and Effie Croft Burgess.
She was a charter member of New Hope Baptist Church of Christ. She loved the word, singing and spending time in the house of God. For as long as she could physically see, she read her Bible daily and, until her death, spent much time in prayer. She said the greatest thing that ever happened to her was when she got saved.
For many years, Mrs. Brewer cleaned houses. She delighted in making things shine. The families that she worked for became like her own. She loved and prayed for them regularly. Her family was her delight. Nothing gave her more pleasure than cooking a big meal and having them around the table. Often times it would include a time of singing together. She was a very talented, honest, hardworking woman. She spent long hours in the garden and sewing on the sewing machine.
Survivors include her son, Estell (Sue) Brewer of Baird, TX; daughter, Alene (Gordon) Smith of Pikeville; daughter-in-law, Elsie Brewer of Elyria, OH; 15 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren; sister, Oma (Ross) Hubbard of Crossville; five sisters-in-law, and a host of family, friends and loved ones.
She had an extra special relationship with her great-grandson, Caleb, and his mother, Conda (Ken) Hysell who assisted with her caregiving. Many others held a special place in her heart, especially her dear friend, Kathleen DeBord; sisters-in-law, Nellie Brewer and Hattie Burgess; niece, Jeannie Cillo; cousin, Duane Turner; and grandson, Jarod Coxey.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 51 years, Sharlie; sons, James Cecil and Ernest Brewer; daughter and son-in-law, Annie and Harold Wayne Walton; brothers, Eston, Wilkie, Johnie, Tommy, Dossie, Dossie and Garland Burgess; sisters, Alice, Elsie and Macy Burgess, Lottie Brewer, Lona Smith and Irma Wyatt; cousin, Daniel Sampson, who was raised with her family; and special friend, Lora Boynton.
Pallbearers were Tommy Jones, Tim Smith, Cory Smith, Aaron Smith, Jerry Coxey, Jarod Coxey, Levi Coxey, Ken Hysell and Caleb Hysell.

Melissa L. Noel
July 14, 1953 - Sept. 17, 2005

Melissa Lee Noel, 52, of Loma Rica, CA, passed away Sept. 17, 2005. A memorial service was conducted Sept. 26 at the Foothill Lion's Club Hall, Loma Rica. Inurnment arrangements were under the direction of Chapel of the Twin Cities in Yuba City, CA.
Mrs. Noel was born in San Francisco, CA and was a Yuba-Sutter resident for 24 years. She was the owner of Noel's Saw and Mower in Loma Rica for nine years.
A 1970 graduate of Saratoga High School, she attended Baylor University in Waco, Texas.
Survivors include her daughters, Keara Melissa Driscoll of Loma Rica, CA and Colleen Lee Driscoll of Marysville, CA; parents, Dr. Richard D. and Edith "Nell" Hamilton of Crossville; sisters, Melanie DeAngelis of Mountain Ranch, CA, Anna-Maria Daulton of Gilroy, CA, and Kristienna Plunkett of Idaho; and granddaughter, Jamie Madill of Loma Rica, CA.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe J. Noel; and brother, Daniel Hamilton.

Anna Lee Veach, 85, of Crossville, passed away Sept. 19, 2005. Funeral services were conducted Sept. 22 from the chapel of Crossville Memorial Funeral Home, with Ed Todd and the Rev. Harold Garrett officiating. Burial was held Sept. 23 in Green Acres Memory Gardens. Music was provided by Jeannie and Glen Vowel, Daniel Veach, Ed Todd and Jan Saunders.
Mrs. Veach was born Aug. 4, 1920, in Overton County.
She was a homemaker and of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include her son, Daniel Veach of Decatur, GA; daughter, Maida Varga of Deerlodge, TN; sisters, Opal Gunner of Alabama and Leta Spaulding of Cincinnati, OH; brother, Walter Harold Garrett of Crossville; sister-in-law, Eldena Garrett of Crossville; grandchildren, Cindy, Carol and Samuel; and great-grandchild, Christian.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Elbert Veach.

Michael L. Dooley
Jan. 6, 1953 - Sept. 19, 2005

Michael Lin Dooley, 52, of Bean Station, TN, passed away Sept. 19, 2005. Funeral services were conducted Sept. 22 from the chapel of Bilbrey Funeral Home, with burial in Crossville City Cemetery.
Mr. Dooley was born Jan. 6, 1953, in Crossville, the son of Marjorie (Turner) and John F. Dooley.
He was an x-ray technologist. He received his X-ray Technology Registry at Cumberland Medical Center while employed there. He later worked at hospitals in Kentucky and East Tennessee and was employed at Ft. Sanders Park West Medical Center in Knoxville for approximately 10 years. He loved the outdoors and was a golf enthusiast. He was personable and enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
Survivors include his wife, Cynthia (Sillings) Dooley; mother and stepfather, Marjorie and Eddie Baker; stepdaughters, Cara Bly and Crystal Schnell; siblings, Trent Dooley, Kathy Dooley-Smith, Cindy Butnor and Beth Lee; grandchildren, Riayn, Rylee, Roxanne and Caleb; and 23 nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, John F. Dooley; brother, George Dooley; grandparents, George and Edna Turner and Brooks and Katherine Dooley Sr.

Vera Genece Futhey, 63, of Crossville, passed away Sept. 18, 2005. Funeral services were conducted Sept. 21 from the chapel of Crossville Memorial Funeral Home, with Phil Jenkins officiating. Burial was in Linary Cemetery.
Mrs. Futhey was born Nov. 10, 1941 in Cumberland County, the daughter of Willie Odell Hayes and Mertie Alice Kerley Hayes.
She was a homemaker and a member of Linary Church of Christ.
Survivors include her husband, Wilbur Futhey of Crossville; daughter and son-in-law, Melinda and Jim Gist of Crossville; grandchildren, Bradley Futhey and Allison Wilson; brother, Earl Hayes; sisters, Flora Whitaker, Wilma Williams, Ellen Cox, Sharon Smith and Carolyn Hennessee; and several nieces and nephews.

Euell E. Mathes
Aug. 12, 1935 - Sept. 18, 2005

Euell Edwin Mathes, 70, of Crossville, passed away Sept. 18, 2005. Funeral services were conducted Sept. 20 from the chapel of Crossville Memorial Funeral Home, with David Neal and Rick Burse officiating. Burial was in Linary Cemetery.
Mr. Mathes was born Aug. 12, 1935 in Cumberland County, the son of James and Ruby Pearl Patton Mathes.
He was a retired carpenter and a member of the Linary Church of Christ.
Survivors include his wife, Joan Parsons Mathes; sons and daughters-in-law, Danny Mathes, Tim and Jo Mathes and Kelly and Tammy Mathes; daughter, Tonya Mathes, all of Crossville; brother and sister-in-law, Lowell and Maxine Mathes of Crystal Springs, FL; grandchildren, Kyle, Amanda, Zach, Jeremy, Gerace and Bri-Anne; great-grandson, Gavin; and special friend, Teresa Presley.
He was preceded in death by his parents.

Beulah B. Cooter
Sept. 15, 2005

Beulah Bailey Cooter, 83, passed away Sept. 15, 2005 at Cumberland Medical Center in Crossville following a lengthy illness. She is a native of Greeneville, TN.
She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Ted Cooter of Crossville; her daughter, Vicki Stout of Nashville, TN; her son, Lance Cooter of Lynchburg, TN; her daughter-in-law, Ellen Cooter; and three grandchildren, Elizabeth Stout of Nashville, and Jack and Jim Bob Cooter of Lynchburg, TN.
Funeral services were conducted Sept. 18 at Zion Methodist Church in Baileyton, TN, with burial following at Zion Cemetery.
She will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved her. She suffered her lengthy illness with bravery and grace. She loved God, her family and her pets. She touched all with her kindness and generosity. The world will be a far less gentle and kind place without her.

Thelma Lee Cheadle, 84, of Crossville, passed away Aug. 21, 2005. No services are planned at this time.
Mrs. Cheadle was born Sept. 1, 1920, in White County, the daughter of Charlie Dow and Georgia Reed Phipps.
She was a homemaker and a member of Fredonia Baptist Church. She worked many years with the Agriculture Extension office.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Jesse and Linda Cheadle of Aiken, SC; daughters and son-in-law, Susan Cheadle Houston of Crossville and Joan and Rudy Maes of Easton, PA; brothers, Carl Phipps of Chula Vista, CA, Earl Phipps and Ernest Phipps of Nashville and Hassel Phipps of Anderson, IN; grandchildren, Chris, Craig, Carl, Chad, Curt and Jessica Maes, Sue Murphy, Tanna Taylor, Lisa Pineyro, Sean and Jesse Cheadle, C.J. and Charlie Houston; and 15 great-grandchildren.

Paul L. Eldridge

Paul L. Eldridge, 75, of Cape Coral, FL, formerly of Crossville and Clio, MI, passed away March 4, 2005, at Hope Hospice of Cape Coral, FL. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 18, at First Church of the Nazarene, 2565 N. Main Street, Crossville, with Pastor Dale Bailey officiating.

Andy L. Pugh
April 2, 1977 - Sept. 10, 2005

Andy Lee Pugh, 28, of Crossville, passed away Sept. 10, 2005. Funeral services were conducted Sept. 13 from the chapel of Bilbrey Funeral Home, with Bro. Mike Kerley officiating. Interment was in Hebbertsburg Cemetery.
Mr. Pugh was born April 2, 1977, in Crossville, the son of Connie and Ronald Pugh.
He was a farmer.
Survivors include his mother, Connie Pugh of Crab Orchard; brother, Wayne Pugh of Crossville; sister, Sherry Pugh of Atlanta, GA; maternal grandparents, Lois and Wiley Smith Sr. of Crossville; and paternal grandparents, Jean and Bill Wilson of Crossville.
He was preceded in death by his father, Ronald Pugh; and grandfather, Harry Pugh.
Pallbearers were Kevin Woody, Kevin Keyes, Keith Smith, Stacy Pugh, Jason Sidwell, Keith Sidwell, Josh Hinch and Wayne Pugh.

Steve Bosland
Sept. 12, 2005

Steve Bosland, 68, of Fairfield Glade, passed away Sept. 12, 2005. Memorial services will be held at 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 16, at Linary Church of Christ.
Mr. Bosland was retired from the Department of Transportation as the state traffic engineer. During the '60s and '70s, he designed interstate and state highways and designed the first truck escape lane on Monteagle Mountain. He has served on several traffic/highway/safety committees while living in Cumberland County.
He loved woodworking and making projects for friends and family, along with making and flying model airplanes.
Survivors include his wife, Viva; children, Alex Bosland of Crossville and Vee (Nathan) Carter of Indianapolis; and grandchild, Ashlee (Nathan) Giesler of Indianapolis.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, Cumberland County Hospice or Linary Church of Christ building fund.

Joy R. Bowman
June 8, 1937 - Sept. 3, 2005

Joy Ruth (Turner) Bowman, 68, of Crossville, passed away Sept. 3, 2005. Funeral services were conducted Sept. 5 from the chapel of Bilbrey Funeral Home, with Bro. Scott White officiating. Interment was in Turner Cemetery.
Mrs. Bowman was born June 8, 1937 in Crossville, the daughter of Hazel (Hassler) and John Turner.
She was a local realtor, a restaurant owner and a homemaker. She enjoyed traveling, sewing and working in her garden. She also loved spending time with her children and grandchildren, who will miss their "Nana Joy" very much.

Paul L. Eldridge, 75, of Cape Coral, FL, formerly of Crossville and Clio, MI, passed away March 4, 2005, at Hope Hospice of Cape Coral, FL. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 18, at First Church of the Nazarene, 2565 N. Main Street, Crossville, with Pastor Dale Bailey officiating. Burial took place in Flint Memorial Park, Mt. Morris, MI, with a military graveside service under the auspices of VFW Post #822 Honor Guard.
Mr. Eldridge was born May 9, 1929 in Monterey, TN.
He served six years in the U.S. Army and also in the Tennessee State Guard from 1991 to 2001. He married Ardyth Barber on Jan. 2, 1954 in Flint, MI. He attended the Church of the Nazarene in Florida and also in Crossville, as well as New Covenant Free Methodist Church in Clio, MI. He retired from GM's Service Parts Operation in Swartz Creek, MI, and was a member of UAW Local #659. After retirement, he worked at Covenant Hills Camp, Otisville, MI, for nine years before moving to Tennessee and Florida.
Survivors include his wife, Ardyth; son, David and wife Patricia of Grand Blanc, MI; daughters, Judy and husband Jay Irwin of Cape Coral, FL and Nancy and husband Joe Mulder of Grand Ledge, MI; grandchildren, Heather and husband John Hocken and Nicole Eldridge; three step-grandchildren; four step-great-grandchildren; brother Bill and wife Sue of Crossville; two special cousins, Carl and wife Odene Sutton and Bufford and wife Margie, all of Crossville; nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Mutchler was born April 28, 1931, in Chillicothe, OH, the daughter of Margaret (Stewart) and Carl Skinner.

Lloyd Tanner, 73, of Crossville, passed away Sept. 9, 2005. Funeral services were conducted Sept. 12 from the chapel of Crossville Memorial Funeral Home, with Tommy Clark officiating. Burial was in Mayland Cemetery.
Mr. Tanner was born Oct. 15, 1931 in Cumberland County, the son of Oliver Tanner and Kate Long Tanner.
He was a farmer and deputy sheriff. He was of the Baptist faith.

Mr. Barnes was born Feb. 7, 1928, in Rockwood, the son of Clifford and Hazel Barnes.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army of Occupation during World War II in Japan, retired furnace operator from General Motors and a member of United Auto Workers of American Union.

Delbert "Brad" Bilbrey, 73, of Gainesboro, TN, passed away Sept. 2, 2005. Funeral services were conducted Sept. 8 from the chapel of Crossville Memorial Funeral Home, with Scott Johnson officiating. Burial was in Taylor's Chapel Cemetery, with full military honors.
Mr. Bradley was born June 16, 1932 in Sumner County, the son of William C. and Matilda Choate Bradley.
He was retired after 22 years in the U.S. Army, having served proudly in both the Korean and Vietnam wars.

Ms. Fluegge was born Sept. 7, 1936 in Milwaukee, WI, the daughter of Hulda Marie (Fechter) and Richard Fluegge.
She was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church and was an application engineer at Lindberg Manufacturing.

Edwin J. Urbany
Oct. 29, 1920 - Sept. 3, 2005

Edwin J. Urbany, 84, passed away on Sept. 3, 2005 at the St. Vincent's Hospice in Indianapolis, IN. He was born Oct. 29, 1920 in Nemacolin, PA to the late Mary (Gaydos) and Joseph Urbany.
Mr. Urbany played semi-professional baseball before joining the Navy at age 20, serving from 1940 to 1944. He was a survivor of Guadalcanal and earned a purple heart for wounds received during the sinking of his ship, the U.S.S. Wake. While in the Navy he met Elsie Mae Bryner, also from Nemacolin, who was serving in the Coast Guard. They were married in 1946, having five children between 1947 and 1961 (Karen, Jack, Deb, Joe, and Timmy).
Mr. Urbany attended college while serving in the Navy and later completed training in electronics. After owning and operating Urbany's Radio Sales, he went on to a career with Westinghouse, where he retired from in 1982. He also was an active member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Knights of Columbus, American Legion and the Elks.
Several years after the untimely death of his loving wife Elsie to cancer, Mr. Urbany wed Lucille Shivley, also a lifelong Westinghouse employee, who brought great joy to the family. They lived in Lima and retired to Fairfield Glade, TN, where he enjoyed his passion for golf and had many wonderful memories.
Mr. Urbany is preceded in death by his son, Timothy; wife, Lucille; stepmother, Helen Urbany; and brother, Bernard. He is survived by a long list of people who loved and will miss Big Ed Urbany; it includes brother Howard Urbany and sisters Mildred Shumar, Mary Celli, Bernadine Hicks and JoAnn Cihon; daughters, Karen Harman Creek and Deborah Hermiller and their husbands, John and Jim; sons, Jack and Joe and their wives, Helen and Julie, and a whole bunch of grandkids who brought pride and joy to Grandpa Urbany in many ways they will never know, including David Harman, Jason Harman, Brook Urbany Balos, Justin Urbany, Emily Hermiller, Andrew Urbany, Jordan Urbany, Kaitlin Hermiller, James Urbany, Patrick Hermiller, Anthony Urbany, Connor Urbany, Alec Urbany, and twin great-grandsons Dylan and Jeremy Harman. And a lot of golfing buddies.
The funeral mass will be held during the Thanksgiving holiday at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Fairfield Glade, TN. A memorial service will be held in September at St. Hugh Catholic Church in Carmichaels, PA. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Vincent Hospice, 8450 N. Mary Jane (McGuire) Boyce, 79, of Fairfield Glade, passed away Sept. 4, 2005. A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 10, at the Fairfield Glade United Methodist Church, with her final resting place in Skowhegen, ME.
Mrs. Boyce was born Oct. 28, 1925 in Skowhegen, ME, to Harvey A. and Emma Shumway McGuire.
On Feb. 21, 1959, she married Warren Turner Boyce in her family's Skowhegen farmhouse. She was an active volunteer throughout her life, supporting activities and organizations important to her and her children. These included PTA, the Crystal Lake Heraldry Guard Band Boosters, First Congregational Church of Crystal Lake, Habitat for Humanity and Fairfield Glade United Methodist Church.
She was an enthusiastic baseball and football fan with her most zealous support going to her favorite team, the Boston Red Sox. She enjoyed playing bridge with close friends and making cookies with her grandchildren.
Survivors include her husband, Warren, of Fairfield Glade; children, Carolyn (Jim Manning) Boyce of Crossville, Nancy (Rob) DuPont of Mundelein, IL, Allan (Kris) Boyce of Geneva, IL and Anne (Dan) Iscra of Crystal Lake, IL; and nine grandsons, Tyler, Adam, Blake and Bennett Iscra, Jordan and Nathan DuPont, and Kyle, Eric and Scott Boyce.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Harvey A. McGuire Jr.

Mr. Hall was born Aug. 11, 1951, in Knoxville, the son of Eugene Wallace and Betty Evans Hall Sr.
He was raised in Nashville and graduated from Antioch High School in 1969. He and Pattye Hall have lived in Crossville the last three and a half years. He was an associate of Wal-Mart in the meat department. He loved sports, especially football, and was a UT fan. He was an Army veteran and served in Vietnam.

Mrs. Burnett was born Feb. 9, 1920, in Estil Springs, TN, the daughter of Georgia (Byrd) and Dr. A.M. Huling Sr.
She was a bookkeeper at the Cumberland County Health Department and a member of Memorial Baptist Church.
Dickie and Cornell once owned and operated Daddy's Creek Inn.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Jaxter and Lee Burnett of Crossville; sisters and brothers-in-law, Juanita Biddle of Wartburg, Lorraine and Edwin Heidel of Wartburg and Lillian and Mack Thomas of Knoxville; brother and sister-in-law, A.M. and Betty Ann Huling Jr. of Spring City; sister-in-law, Mary Jo Huling of Kingston; grandchildren, Brandi, Ashley, Abby, Heather and John; and great-grandchildren, Cameron, Tyler and Liam.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Cornell Burnett; sons, Jerry Cornell Burnett and Randall Keith Burnett; brother, Dr. Walter Huling; and sister, Willie Mae Huling.
Pallbearers were Bill McCoy, Dennis Richards, Tom Biddle Jr., Tom Netherton, David Heidel, Jackie Stevens, Jamie Velotta, Cub Whitson, Ted Thomas and Roger Holloway.

Phylliss Green
Sept. 15, 1931 - Aug. 19, 2005

Phylliss (Myers) Green, 73, of Crossville, passed away Aug. 19, 2005. Funeral services were conducted Aug. 21 from the chapel of Bilbrey Funeral Home, with Bro. Wayne Matthews officiating. Interment was in Crossville City Cemetery.
Mrs. Green was born Sept. 15, 1931, in Lafayette, IN, the daughter of Evelyn and Cecil M. Myers.
She was a homemaker and of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include her sons, Lester Green Jr., Robert Green, Richard Green and James Green, all of Crossville; daughter, Kathy McDaniel of Chattanooga; 17 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lester George Green Sr.; son, Jerry Green; and daughter, Linda Green.
Pallbearers were Charles Marsh, Leon Woody, David Bell, Elbert Farley and Jackie Thomas.

Lillie M. Hunsucker
March 31, 1930 - Aug. 29, 2005

Lillie Mae (Asberry) Hunsucker, 75, of Crossville, passed away Aug. 29, 2005. Funeral services were conducted Sept. 2 from the chapel of Bilbrey Funeral Home, with Bro. Joe Pruitt officiating. Interment was in Crossville City Cemetery.
Mrs. Hunsucker was born March 31, 1930 in Mayland, the daughter of Maude Mary Ann (Dodson) and Charles W. Asberry.
She was the mother of five children and was baptized in the Grafton River and into the Baptist faith. She was known for her kindness and caring of others with a wonderful sense of humor. She loved her family, cooking and working in her yard. She seemed to have a green thumb with everything she grew. She worked hard all her life, was loved and admired by all. She worked at Trade-A-Plane as an inserter in the binding room.
Survivors include her daughters, Sheila Hunsucker of Crossville, Carolyn Dumboff of Vermillion, OH and Barbara Sorok of Wellington, OH; sons, Bobby Hunsucker of Marengo, OH and Thomas Hunsucker of Crossville; sister, Katherine Davis of Crossville; brother, Lloyd Asberry of Crossville; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Frank Asberry and Paul Asberry.
Pallbearers were Joseph Sorok Sr., Mark Doumbas, Joseph Sorok Jr., Thomas Hunsucker Sr., Thomas Hunsucker Jr. and Kevin Hunsucker Jr.

Jerry L. Crosley
May 3, 1942 - Aug. 31, 2005

Jerry Lee Crosley, 63, of Fairfield Glade, passed away Aug. 31, 2005. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 4, from the chapel of Hood Funeral Home. Family will receive friends on Saturday from 6-9 p.m. at Hood Funeral Home. Bro. Robert Melton will be officiating.
Mr. Crosley was born May 3, 1942 in Daleville, IN, the son of James and Rosella Taylor Crosley.
He was retired from the Anderson Police Department in Indiana and was a sergeant on the Fairfield Security Department as well as an EMT. He also worked as a truck driver with Beans Postal Service.
Survivors include his wife, Shirley Crosley of Fairfield Glade; sons, Bryan Crosley of Waterford, VA, Jim Crosley of North Webster, IN, and Mike Crosley of Los Angeles, CA; stepchildren, Nina Brass of Alexandria, TN, Ted Kierstead and William Kierstead, both of Crossville, and Melinda Waters of Bellaire, MD; brother, Doyle Crosley of Crossville; 16 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; three nephews; and two nieces.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Rosemarie.

Allison P. Pennington

Allison Paige Pennington, 2, of Crossville, passed away Aug. 27, 2005. Funeral services were conducted Aug. 30 from the chapel of Bilbrey Funeral Home, with Bro. Brian Smith officiating. Interment was in Smith's Chapel Cemetery.
Allison was born March 26, 2003, in Knoxville, the daughter of Carrie (Roberts) and Doug Pennington.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by her brother, Mikey Thomas Jackson; grandparents, Emily and Eliot Jr. Roberts and Bruce and Cindy Pennington, all of Crossville and Kathy Sherman of Tucson, AZ; and great-grandparents, Beverly and Eliot Roberts Sr. of Crossville, Paul and Claire Sherman of North Kingston, RI and Violet Elmore of Crossville.
