Jon W. DeFrees
Nov. 13, 2003
Jon Wallace DeFrees, 72, passed away Nov. 13 at St. Thomas Hospital in Nashville. Mr. DeFrees leaves behind his wife of 37 years, Rita Tutterrow DeFrees, and his mother- and father-in-law, George and Thelma Tutterrow of Crossville. His parents, Harry and Bessie Stanbrough DeFrees of Des Moines, IA, preceded him in death.
Mr. DeFrees attended Drake University in Des Moines and John Hopkins University in Baltimore. He served his country in the Army during the Korean War and later was in the Navy submarine service.
He lived life to the fullest, enjoying new challenges and experiences. He pursued a number of occupations including environmental testing of spacecraft at Goddard Space Craft Center in Maryland, engineering designer at the Hanford Nuclear Reservation in Richland, WA, flight instructor in Panama City, FL, and commercial pilot in Houma, LA. He and his wife traveled extensively in this country and abroad. His friends in many places will miss his sense of humor and willingness to help.
A memorial service celebrating his life will be held at the Pleasant Hill Community Church on Monday, Dec. 1 at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Lung Association, 61 Broadway, New York, NY 10006.

Cecil M. Elmore
June 13, 1942 - Nov. 16, 2003

Cecil MacArthur "Mack" Elmore, 61, of Crossville, passed away Nov. 16, 2003. Funeral services were conducted Nov. 19 from the chapel of Bilbrey Funeral Home, with burial in Fredonia Cemetery. Bro. Winfield Bevins officiated, with special music by Rachael Myles.
Mr. Elmore was born June 13, 1942 in Cumberland County, the son of Cecil and Marie Miller Elmore.
He was an employee for the Sanitation Dept. for the city of Crossville and a member of the Church of God.
Survivors include his wife, Wilma Smith Elmore of Crossville; sons, Tony and Bill Elmore of Crossville; daughter, Darlene Kilby of Crossville; mother, Marie Ramey of Crossville; six grandchildren; and brothers, Chester Elmore of Crossville and Martin Hamby of Georgia.
He was preceded in death by his father, Cecil Elmore.
Pallbearers were Walter Myles, Mike Smith, Tom Thompson, Jason Brown and Walker Kilby.
Honorary pallbearers were Eric Cunningham and Jason Kilby.

Dwight A. Kendrick
Nov. 19, 2003

Dwight Anthony Kendrick, 52, of Crossville, passed away Nov. 19, 2003. Funeral services were conducted Nov. 22 from the chapel of Evans Mortuary, with Pastor Ralph Reagan officiating. Graveside services were conducted Nov. 23 in the Oak Grove Cemetery with full military honors by the Roane County Military Memorial Honor Guard.
Mr. Kendrick was a member of the Chestnut Ridge Baptist Church of Elyria, OH.
Survivors include his mother, Pansey Kendrick of Kingston, TN; brother and sister-in-law, Dale and Regina Kendrick of Kingston; niece, Danielle Kendrick of Kingston; aunts, Barbara Morris of Mill Stone Mountain, TN, Eunice Henry of Ohio and Marie Carter of Ozone, TN; uncle, Charles Price of Chattanooga; and a host of cousins.
He was preceded in death by his father, Obie A. Kendrick; aunt, Imogene Cox; and uncles, Glen Kendrick, Lawton Kendrick and Clenice Kendrick.

Sylvester Smith
Oct. 25, 1917 - Nov. 18, 2003

Sylvester Smith, 86, of Crossville, passed away Nov. 18, 2003. Funeral services were conducted Nov. 21 from the chapel of Crossville Memorial Funeral Home, with burial in Crossville City Cemetery. The Rev. Gene Burgess officiated.
Mr. Smith was born Oct. 25, 1917 in Crossville.
Survivors include his daughter, Sylvia Burnette; sister, Viola Swallows; nieces, Jessie Means and Janet Mullins; nephews, Gary Swallows, Dan Swallows and Ken Swallows; and two grandchildren.
The Veterans Honor Guard served as pallbearers.

Agnes P. Wooton
Dec. 22, 1939 - Nov. 21, 2003

Agnes Padgett Wooton, 63, of the Plateau community of Cumberland County, passed away Nov. 21, 2003. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Nov. 26 at 11 a.m. from the chapel of Goff Funeral Home. The Rev. Edward Todd will officiate, with interment to follow in the Rinnie Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Goff Funeral Home Tuesday, Nov. 25, 5-8 p.m.
Mrs. Wooton was born Dec. 22, 1939 in Muddy Pond, TN, the daughter of A.G. Padgett and Avo Todd Padgett.
She had retired from the North College Hill school district in Cincinnati, OH and was also a homemaker.
Survivors include her husband of 45 years, Burtis Wooton of the Plateau community; daughter, Pamela Lou Benton of Miamisburg, OH; sons, Burtis Anthony Wooton of the Plateau community, Timothy T. Wooton of Fairfield, OH and Tracy D. Charles Eugene Hyder, 77, of Crossville, passed away Nov. 11, 2003. Funeral services were conducted Nov. 14 from the chapel of Crossville Memorial Funeral Home, with burial in Hyder Cemetery. Ralph Reagan officiated.
Mr. Hyder was born March 31, 1926 in Crossville, the son of Charlie and Wilvia Hyder.
He was a retired carpenter.
Survivors include his sons, Thomas Charles Hyder, Richard Eugene Hyder and Joseph Robert Hyder; daughters, Cheryl Lynn Belvin, Carol Lynn Cottrell, Sandra Irene Adkins and Pamela Ann Belvin; sister, Margaret Hall; 10 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

Wayne L. Breazeale
Nov. 15, 2003
Wayne L. Breazeale, 76, of Lenoir City, passed away Nov. 15, 2003. A memorial service will be announced at a later date.
Mr. Breazeale was a member and elder of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Lenoir City. He was retired from the U.S. Army after 27 happy years, retired from the University of Tennessee as the associate director of Financial Aid and a member of the American Legion. He worked at Roane State Community College. His hobbies and interests included gardening and reading.
He grew up in the Homestead community in Crossville.
Survivors include his wife, Nancy B. Breazeale of Lenoir City; daughter and son-in-law, Rebecca and Pete Johnson of Chapel Hill, NC; brothers and sisters-in-law, C.W. and Hassie Breazeale of Morristown, TN and Mack and Lou Breazeale of Oxford, MS; sisters and brothers-in-law, Clarabel and Jack Buchanan on Winchester, KY and Joyce and Floyd Erickson of Mesa, AZ; stepchildren, Lynn Rockcastle and husband, Curt, of Harvard, IL and Teri Neal and husband, Scott, of Seymour, TN; and grandchildren, Nisi Rose Rockcastle of Harvard, IL, William Drake Rockcastle of Harvard, IL, Alexis Taylor Staley of Seymour, TN and Brentley Scott Neal of Seymour, TN.

Ova Elvera Lewis, 94, of Crossville, passed away Nov. 7, 2003. Funeral services were conducted Nov. 10 from the chapel of Bilbrey Funeral Home, with burial in Thomas Springs Cemetery. Bro. David Rowan officiated.
Mrs. Lewis was born Dec. 19, 1908 in Cumberland County, TN, the daughter of Mitchell Bolin and Mary Jane Sapp Bolin.
She was a housewife and of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include her daughters, Betty Lewis and Wanda Lewis, both of Crossville; sons, Joe Lewis of Crossville, Jessie Lewis of Rock Island, TN and James Lewis of Crossville; and sister, Cora Warner of Crossville.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Cloyd Lewis; sisters, Ollie Mae Bolin, Hettie Bolin, Vesta Vanwinkle and Virginia Lewis; and brothers, Ralph and Richard Bolin.

Linda Sue Pennington Morris

Linda Sue Pennington Morris, 60, of Crossville, passed away Nov. 3, 2003. Funeral services were conducted Nov. 6 from the chapel of Bilbrey Funeral Home, with burial in Tollett's Chapel Cemetery. Bro. Harold Qualls officiated.
Mrs. Morris was born June 23, 1943 in Crossville, the daughter of Louie Eugene Smith and Ethel Tollett Smith.
She was a sitter and of the Pentecostal faith. She also served in the U.S. Navy during Vietnam.
Survivors include her sons, Johnny Ray Pennington of Fort Polk, LA (currently stationed in Iraq), Joel Pennington of Seymore Johnson, NC and Jude Pennington of Crossville; daughters, Faith Pennington, of the U.S. Air Force in Korea and Frankie Johnson of Crossville; nine grandchildren; brothers, Frank, Laddie and Tom Smith, all of Crossville; and sisters and brother-in-law, Renee and Frank Smith of Crossville and Brenda Gillespi of Tobacco, NC.

Bonnie M. Poore

Bonnie Marie Poore, 72, of Crossville, passed away Nov. 12, 2003. Funeral services were conducted Nov. 16 from the chapel of Crossville Memorial Funeral Home, with burial in Green Acres Memory Gardens. Dan Haskins officiated.
Mrs. Poore was born Jan. 29, 1931 in Middlesboro, KY.
She was a homemaker.
Survivors include her daughters, Barbara Lynn Lake of Leavenworth, WA and Anna Maria Poore of Crossville; grandson, John Anthony Lake and his wife, Crystal, of Cookeville; granddaughter, Jennifer Lynn Lake of Centerville, IA; sister, Margaret Evans; and brothers, Ed Miracle and J.C. Miracle.

Alice L. Beeman
Nov. 6, 2003
Alice L. Beeman, 84, of Uplands Retirement Village in Pleasant Hill, passed away Nov. 6, 2003 of pancreatic cancer.
Ms. Beeman was born in Wichita Falls, TX, in 1919, and graduated with a degree in journalism from the University of Texas in Austin in 1941. She entered the then new field of educational public relations, and worked successively at the University of Texas, Vanderbilt University and the University of Michigan. At Michigan, where she was a staff member for 22 years, she established a new all-university publications office and directed the office of Public Information, 1963-68.
In 1968, Ms. Beeman accepted an appointment as executive director of the American Association of University Women and of the AAUW Educational Foundation, in Washington, DC. A major purpose of the AAUW Educational Foundation is the granting of scholarships and fellowships to women seeking doctoral and other advanced degrees.
During her tenure, Ms. Beeman led a membership drive to raise an additional $10 million for this purpose. Six years later, in 1974, Ms. Beeman accepted appointment as president of a new national organization - the Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE). This organization is composed of the advancement personnel - writers, editors, fundraisers and alumni directors - of nearly all the colleges and universities in the United States.
Ms. Beeman's selection as chief executive of CASE was considered trail-blazing at the time, because she was the first woman to serve as president of any of the national educational associations in Washington.
She chose to take early retirement in 1978, and has lived since then in Dallas, TX and for the past 12 years in Pleasant Hill, TN.
In Cumberland County, Ms. Beeman has been active as a member of the Uplands board of directors and most recently as chairman of its Long Range Planning Committee. She was also active in Grace United Church of Christ in Crossville, and as a volunteer with Good Samaritans.
Ms. Beeman received many honors and awards. She held honorary doctorate degrees from Central Missouri College, Alderson-Broaddus College and Boston University. Both the AAUW and CASE named annual member awards in her honor.
Her main hobbies were reading and bird-watching. "Bird trips" had taken her around the world, especially to tropical areas of Central and South America and Australia.
Her body has been cremated, and a memorial service will be held on Monday, Nov. 17, at 2 p.m. in Adshead Hall at Uplands Retirement Village in Pleasant Hill. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Wharton Capital Fund at Uplands Retirement Village, Pleasant Hill, TN.

Eric A. Elmore

Eric Allen Elmore, 27, of Crossville, passed away Nov. 8, 2003. Funeral services were conducted Nov. 10 from the chapel of Crossville Memorial Funeral Home, with burial in Big Lick Cemetery. Donald Wattenbarger officiated.
Mr. Elmore was born Sept. 4, 1976 in Crossville, the son of James and Rhonda Elmore.
He was a construction worker.
Survivors include his wife, Liza Ann Elmore; son, Dylan Levon Elmore; daughter, Hailey Elizabeth Elmore; parents, James and Rhonda Elmore; grandmothers, Helen Louise Roysdon and Ruby Allen Elmore; brother, Brian Edward Elmore; and sister and brother-in-law, Jessica Helen and Robert Wayne Sullivan.

Alice M. J. Field
April 5, 1920 - Nov. 3, 2003

Alice Marie Jestice Field, 83, of Crossville, passed away Nov. 3, 2003. Funeral services were conducted Nov. 6 from the chapel of Bilbrey Funeral Home, with Bro. Wayne Matthews officiating. Graveside committal services were held Nov. 7 at Crossville City Cemetery.
Mrs. Field was born April 5, 1920 in Huntsville, TN, the daughter of John Alfred Jestice and Tiny Melton Jestice.
She worked as a fire tower station observer on Peavine Rd. for 15 years and was of the Baptist faith. She was a very independent person.
Survivors include her brothers, John Henry Jestice Sr., Paul Jestice and Earl Jestice, all of Crossville; sisters, Clara Jestice and Marie Jestice Barnwell, both of Crossville; stepmother, Cordelie Jestice of Crossville; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence Field; sisters, Rachael Jestice McDowell, Beatrice Jestice Hamby, Cord Jestice Hamby, Georgia Mae Saffles, Pauline Jestice, Cindie Jestice and Myrtle Jestice; and brothers, Paul Jestice, Dexter Jestice, Willie Frank Jestice and James Inman Jestice.
Pallbearers were John Henry Jestice Jr., Joel Jestice, Roger Blankenship, Roger Dale Blankenship II, Clay Sitton and Donnie Jestice.

Thomas T. Herron
June 18, 1931

Thomas Terence "T.T." Herron, of Aurora, OH, passed away recently. A memorial service will be held at Lord of Life Lutheran Church, 17989 Chillicothe Rd., Chagrin Falls, OH 44023, on Saturday, Nov. 15 at 11 a.m.
Mr. Herron was born June 18, 1931 in Belfast, Northern Ireland, the son of Walter and Agnes Smith Herron.
He graduated from the Model School of Belfast and attended Belfast School of Technology. He emigrated from Belfast, Northern Ireland to Toronto, Canada in 1954, moved to the United States in 1966 and became a U.S. citizen in 1986.
He was an accountant and programmer for IBM in Toronto from 1957-1966, a systems analyst for the Eaton Corporation in Eastlake, OH from 1966-1978 and manager of information systems for the Eaton Corporation in Galesburg, MI from 1978-1989.
He volunteered with Junior Achievement and Career Counseling at Kalamazoo Community College.
He was a member of the Belfast Boys Brigade and a member of the Elks in Crossville. He was an avid golfer and reader and in his youth played field hockey and cricket.
He married Norma Wilson Dec. 3, 1955 in Toronto, Canada.
His children include Michael Herron and his wife, Donna, of Moorpark, CA; Lynn Deering and her husband, Greg, of Chagrin Falls, OH; David Herron and his wife, Sally, of Oxnard, CA; and Kelly Thomas and her husband, Mark, of Holland, MI.
His grandchildren are Mike and Lacey Herron, Christopher Herron, Patrick and John Deering, and Benjamin and Kirsten Thomas.
His brothers and sisters include the Rev. Walter Herron, Jack Herron, the Rev. Ernest Herron, Margaret Mattison and the late Nan Chapman.

James "Jim" H. Medd, 72, passed away Nov. 3, 2003. Celebration of Life services were conducted Nov. 8 in Crossville.
Mr. Medd was born in Oconto, WI and spent most of his life in Green Bay, WI, where he owned Medman, Inc. before retiring to Crossville. He held life memberships in the Tennessee State Numismatic Society, the National Scrip Collectors Association and Numismatists of Wisconsin, being one of the past presidents. He was a Mason and a Shriner.
Survivors include his wife, Sheila Medd of Crossville; children, James A. Medd, William M. Medd, Tina Marie Brant, Kathleen Rae Largo and Lee Curtis Medd, all of Green Bay, WI; 10 grandchildren; and stepchildren, Ray Vann of Lufkin, TX and Leslie Starkey of Texarkana, AR.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Wayne and Helen Salewski Medd; and brother, Larrie W. Medd.

Mildred A. Prater

Mildred Augusta Prater, 85, of Crossville, passed away Nov. 6, 2003. A memorial service will be conducted at 2 p.m., Friday, Nov. 14 at the Lantana Road Baptist Church in Crossville, with the Rev. Scott Johnson officiating.
Mrs. Prater was born Nov. 7, 1918 in Alpha, TN, the daughter of William and Margaret E. Brown Meadows.
She was a homemaker and a member of the Lantana Road Baptist Church.
Survivors include her son, Jackie Prater of Andersonville, TN; and daughters, Jean Maxey of Crossville and Susan Massmann of Pinellas Park, FL.

Ruby B. Turner

Mrs. Turner was born July 24, 1921 in Fentress County, the daughter of Edgar and Della Brown.
She was a homemaker and a member of the First Christian Church of Crossville. She loved her flowers and gardening.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Larry E. and Nana Turner of Clarksville, TN; daughters and sons-in-law, Barbara Janette and Junior Polson, Gladys and Danny Adams and Anna and George Davis, all of Crossville; grandson, Jeremy Davis of Crossville; and granddaughter, Linda Sue Turner of Clarksville.

Walter G. Baylor
March 3, 1924 - Oct. 28, 2003
Walter Gail Baylor, 79, of Fairfield Glade, passed away Oct. 28, 2003. Memorial services were conducted Nov. 1 at Christ Lutheran Church in Fairfield Glade. Pastor Jerry Weeks officiated.
Mr. Baylor was born March 3, 1924 in Galion, OH, the son of James Fitzsimmons and Anna Barbara Neumann Baylor.
He was a retired assembler with Perfection Steel Body and an Army Air Corps veteran with the 66th Fighter Wing 8th Air Force, having served our country during World War II. He graduated from Galion High School in 1942. He was a member of Christ Lutheran Church in Fairfield Glade, a lifelong blood donor and a volunteer for the Humane Society. He was an avid golfer and loved to travel.
Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Alan and Connie Baylor of Kathleen, GA; sister, Lorena Champion of Galion, OH; granddaughter, Erin Baylor of Kathleen, GA; sister-in-law, Mary Baylor of Shelby, OH; eight nephews and 11 nieces.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Alice Baylor; son, Harold Baylor; brother, James Baylor; and sisters and brothers-in-law, Helen and John Ott, Elizabeth and Stanley Ralph, Lillian and George Sautter, Alice and Paul Klehm and Sarah and Joe Laeng.

Lucille M. Wallace

Lucille Moore Wallace, 94, passed away Sept. 25, 2003. Funeral services were conducted Sept. 28 from the chapel of Combs Funeral Service in Lebanon, VA, with burial in Russell Memorial Cemetery. The Rev. Donnie Musick and the Rev. Carlyle Carter officiated.
Mrs. Wallace was born June 26, 1909 in Washington County, VA, the daughter of Robert Moore and Nellie Rector Moore.
She had lived in Russell County and Lebanon for 40 years, moving to Jacksonville, FL in 1964. She was a member of the Cedar Creek Baptist Church in Lebanon, and a member of the Order of the Easter Star, Chapter #182, in Abingdon. She was a member of the Lake Tansi Community Association.
She worked hard and played hard.
Survivors include her daughter, Marjorie Hash Mann of Jacksonville, FL; son and daughter-in-law, Nuel and Merlie Wallace of Moneta, VA; grandchildren, Joan A. Hash of Jacksonville, FL, Nuel L. Wallace Jr. of Roanoke, VA and Loretta W. Yeaman of Martinsville, VA; great-grandchildren, Brian Wallace, Johnny Yeaman and Lori Yeaman; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Maynard Wallace; sister, Gwendolyn Puckett; and brothers, Miles, William and Alfred Moore.
Friends served as pallbearers, with Dr. Timothy Spitler serving as honorary pallbearer.

Jack P. Young
Oct. 28, 1929 - Nov. 8, 2003

Jack Phillip Young, 74, of Oak Ridge, passed away Nov. 8, 2003 at the Methodist Medical Center. He was born in Huntington, IN on Oct. 28, 1929, the son of Jacob Philip and Marie Skully Young. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church.
After completing his Ph.D. in analytical chemistry at Indiana University, Mr. Young joined the Analytical Chemistry Division of Oak Ridge National Laboratory in 1955. For many years he conducted an active research program with the molten salt reactor program. His early work resulted in his designation as a Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science. In the late 1970s, he led the Laboratory's research in analytical applications of resonance ionization spectrometry and he was a member of the Oak Ridge team that demonstrated ultra sensitive detection of single atoms.
He co-founded the field of resonance ionization mass spectrometry, employing laser resonance ionization for resolving sample difficulties in mass spectrometric analysis. He co-invented a versatile, high-temperance chemistry, and he was active in the preparation and study of nuclear isomers relevant to medical therapeutic applications.
Mr. Young was an active member of the American Chemical Society and the local Oak Ridge ACS chapter, serving as its chairman in recent years. He retired from the Chemical Sciences Division of ORNL in 2000, but remained active in science, working at the lab several days each week until his recent illness.
Mr. Young was responsible for 4 patents, received the IR100 award for Single Atom Detection and the D.A. Shirley Award for Service to East TN section of American Chemical Society.

Meyers, FL, Erin and Jacob Young of Crossville, Eliza and Claire Bishop Milner of Oak Ridge, Adam and Kathryn Young of Huntsville, AL and Aurora Young of Gainesville, FL.
Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church with the Rev. Michael Woods officiating. Interment will be at Oak Ridge Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Monday, Nov. 10, from 6-8 p.m. with a rosary service beginning at 8 p.m. at Weatherford Mortuary.
The family requests that memorials be in the form of donations to Children's Museum of Oak Ridge, 461 West Outer Drive, Oak Ridge, TN 37830.

Alma F. Burnett
May 3, 1914 - Nov. 2, 2003
Alma Ford Burnett, 89, of the Oak Hill community, passed away Nov. 2, 2003. Funeral services were conducted Nov. 4 from the chapel of Bilbrey Funeral Home, with burial in Oak Hill Cemetery. Missionary Bro. John Henderson officiated, with special music by Boyd Raper.
Mrs. Burnett was born May 3, 1914 in Grassy Cove, the youngest daughter of Thomas Young Ford and Savannah Hamby Ford.
For most of her life, she was a housewife. She was also a school teacher who taught at Oak Hill School and was a houseparent at the Tennessee Southern Baptist Children's Home. She was a member of Woodlawn Methodist Church. She was valedictorian of the 1933 class of Cumberland Mountain School.
Survivors include her grandchildren, Sam Burnett III of Crossville and Melissa Burnett of Connecticut; two great-grandchildren; step-grandson, Tom Herring of Crossville; godson, Michael Parsons of Florida; and sister, Thelma Ford Parsons of Crossville.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel Burnett Sr.; son, Samuel Burnett Jr.; and brothers, Fred, Clell, Richard and Eugene Ford.
Pallbearers were Sam Burnett III, Daryl Beard, Frances Beard, Boomer Beard, Troy Selby and Hope Parsons Schubert.

Ella Katherine Mathis, 79, of Crossville, passed away Oct. 31, 2003.
Mrs. Mathis was born April 3, 1924 in Atlantic City, NJ.
She was a retired florist and a member of Fredonia Baptist Church.
Survivors include her sons, Clark Mathis of Crossville and William Mathis of New Jersey; daughter, Kathleen Mathis Gamber of Las Vegas, NV; brother and sister-in-law, Bo and Bim Clark of Pleasantville, NJ; and four grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William E. Mathis III.

James "Jim" H. Medd passed away Nov. 3, 2003. Celebration of Life arrangements are pending.
Mr. Medd was born in Ocono, WI and spent most of his life in Green Bay, WI, where he owned Medman, Inc. before retiring to Crossville. He held life memberships in the Tennessee State Numismatics Society, the National Scrip Collectors Association and Numismatics of Wisconsin, being one of the past presidents. He was a Mason and a Shriner.
Survivors include his wife, Sheila Medd of Crossville; children, James A. Medd, William M. Medd, Tina Marie Brant, Kathleen Rae Largo and Lee Curtis Medd, all of Green Bay, WI; 10 grandchildren; and stepchildren, Ray Venn of Lefkin, TX and Leslie Starkey of Texarkana, AR.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Wayne and Helen Salewski Medd; and brother, Leslie Starkey.

Ms. Thompson was born April 13, 1927 in Cumberland County, the daughter of Charlie and Bertha Kidwell Thompson.
She was a beautician.

Survivors include her daughter, Gayle Ann McNeil of Medina, OH; son, Keith McNeil of Columbus, OH; granddaughter, Victoria McNeil of Medina, OH; and sister, Lillie Frost of Hebbertsburg, TN.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Allen McNeil; brothers, Reed, Clyde and Herbert Wilson; and sisters, Jean Campbell and Althea Hamby.
