Ronald L. Byerly, 67, of Fairfield Glade, passed away Nov. 13, 2002. A memorial service will be held Wednesday, Dec. 4 at 11 a.m. at Christ Lutheran Church in Fairfield Glade.
Mr. Byerly was born April 30, 1935, in Cedar Rapids, IA.
He graduated from Palmer Chiropractic College. He later had a career as an electrician. He was an avid baseball and golf fan, and also enjoyed traveling and his grandchildren. He was a member of Christ Lutheran Church.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara Byerly of Fairfield Glade; mother, Elnora Byerly of Grand Mound, IA; sons, Timothy Byerly of Reading, PA, and Todd Byerly of Davenport, IA; daughters, Tanya Chahal of San Jose, CA, and Tamara Fontana of Palm Beach Gardens, FL; stepsons, Tim Groth of North Palm Beach, FL, and Steve Groth of Jacksonville, FL; brothers, Jim Byerly of Altamonte Springs, FL, John Byerly of Jackson, WY, Ray Byerly of Sheboygan, WI, and Tom Byerly of Denton, TX; sisters, Ruth Ann of Marietta, GA, and Mary Noel of Grand Mound, IA; and 10 grandchildren.

Elizabeth G. Comfort
Elizabeth Gaines Comfort, 50, passed away Nov. 14, 2002. She is survived by parents, Martha and George Gaines of Crossville; son, Robert G. Comfort of Fairview, TN; grandchildren, Justin Kyle and Britany Comfort, both of Fairview; and sisters and brothers-in-law, Martha Carolyn and Richard Wooten of Indianapolis, IN, and Mary Alice and Roger Wilmoth of Cookeville, TN.
Ms. Comfort was educated at Peabody Demonstration School/University School of Nashville, TN, and graduated from Stephens College, Columbia, MO. She worked on the staff of KMOU-TV (an NBC affiliate) for the University of Missouri. Ms. Comfort served on the air staffs of radio stations WZEZ-FM and WAMB-AM in Nashville. She emceed several big band dances at the former Hyatt Regency Hotel in Nashville. She performed voice-overs for firms in Columbia, MO, and Nashville. She also worked as a travel agent, telemarketer and care giver technician.
A memorial service will be held at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Fairfield Glade on Friday, Nov. 29 at 11 a.m., conducted by the Rev. Robert Matlock. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Building Fund of Westminster Presbyterian Church, Hospice of Cumberland County, the American Cancer Society or the charity of donor's choice.

Lois A.S. Fossett
Nov. 7, 1935 - Nov. 19, 2002
Lois Ann Slettvet Fossett, 67, of Clearwater, FL, passed away Nov. 19, 2002. Funeral services were held at Sylven Abby Funeral Home in Clearwater, officiated by the Rev. Jeff Gramza of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, of which Ms. Fossett was a lifelong member. Burial will be Nov. 30 in Westlawn Cemetery in New Castle, IN.
Ms. Fossett was born Nov. 7, 1935, in Genesis, TN, the daughter of Arthur and Ella Slettvet.
She was a mother of three.
She was preceded in death by her grandmother, Thea Slettvet, and sister, Pearl Viola Slettvet, who are buried in Golden Cemetery in Genesis.

Teddy L. Gentry
Nov. 17, 1937 - Nov. 24, 2002
Teddy Lane Gentry, 65, of Crossville, passed away Nov. 24, 2002. Private funeral services are planned.
Mr. Gentry was born Nov. 17, 1937, in Putnam County, TN, the son of John William and Dimple Clyde Gentry.
He was a boiler operator at the Ford Motor Company power house.
Survivors include his wife, Patricia Ann Gentry; children, Darin Wayne Gentry and Jody Lynn Gentry Looper; son-in-law, David Looper Sr.; and grandchildren, David Looper Jr., Dawson Looper, Bob Gentry and Pat Gentry, both of Gainesboro, TN, Gail Bryant and Peewee Bryant.
He was preceded in death by his parents.

Marino Giuffre
Nov. 8, 1924 - Nov. 20, 2002
Marino Giuffre, 78, of Fairfield Glade, passed away Nov. 20, 2002. A memorial service was held Nov. 25 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Fairfield Glade, with interment in St. Francis of Assisi Columbarium. Father Greg Neuzil officiated.
Mr. Giuffre was born Nov. 8, 1924, in Chicago, IL, the son of John and Esther La Mantia Giuffre.
He graduated from the University of Notre Dame, and was an engineer in the printing industry, retiring from Standard Register Co. in Dayton, OH. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran of World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Mildred Giuffre of Fairfield Glade; children and their spouses, Deborah and David Samples of Centerville, OH, Clayton and Lisa Giuffre of Englewood, OH, and Karen A. and Scott Miller of Lititz, PA; brothers, Frank Giuffre of Plainfield, IL, and Vincent Giuffre of Chicago, IL; and grandchildren, Nicholas Samples, Matthew Samples, Cory Miller and Janelle Miller.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Sal Giuffre; and sister, Ann Dolly Zoko.

Earl Jay Kuoni, 78, of Fairfield Glade, passed away Nov. 25, 2002. No services are planned.
Mr. Kuoni was born May 17, 1924, in Chicago, IL, the son of Charles Francis and Nellie Minerva Warner Kuoni.
He was a photographic developer in the commercial photography industry, and was a member of the United Church of Christ. He was a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran of World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Georgia Adel Schmidt Kuoni; and sons and daughter-in-law, Joel and Sur Kuoni, Randall Kuoni and Greg Kuoni.
He was preceded in death by his parents.

Ray Ledford

Ray Ledford, 92, of Crossville, passed away Nov. 24, 2002. Funeral services were conducted today (Nov. 27) at 10 a.m. from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home in Livingston, TN, with burial in Green Hill Cemetery, Alpine, TN.
Mr. Ledford was born May 10, 1910, in Overton County, TN, the son of Floyd and Rebecca Ledbetter Ledford.
He was a forester, and was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Nella and Floyd Bilbrey of Crossville; sons and daughters-in-law, Doyle and Maxine Ledford of Crossville, and Carlos and Mary Ledford of Cookeville, TN; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Beulah Newberry Ledford; brothers, Bob Ledford, Arthur Ledford and J.T. Ledford; and sister, Lena McDonald.

Charles J. Hickey
Nov. 15, 1930 - Nov. 23, 2002
Charles Jack Hickey, 72, of Crossville, passed away Nov. 23, 2002. Funeral services were conducted Nov. 25 from the chapel of Click Funeral Home in Lenoir City, TN. Graveside services with full military honors will be held today (Tuesday) at 11 a.m. at Lakeview Cemetery in Lenoir City.
Mr. Hickey was born Nov. 15, 1930, in Lenoir City, the son of Charlie and Mamie Hickey.
He graduated from Lenoir City High School in 1951, and afterward attended Vanderbilt University on a football scholarship. He was retired from Martin Marietta Y-12 Plant after 35 years as lab supervisor. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War and was honored with several medals during his service, including the Purple Heart.
He was a member of First Baptist Church in Lenoir City, and was a very active life member of the DAV. He worked with Little League sports programs in Lenoir City for many years.
Survivors include his wife, of 46 years, Leona Durham Hickey; grandsons, John Robert and Matthew Jacob Archer, both of Abilene, TX; son-in-law, John Archer Sr. of Abilene; sister, Lorena Daniel of Lenoir City; nephew and niece-in-law, Barry and Judy Neal of Lenoir City; and many other family members and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Brenda Hickey Archer, earlier this year; and nephews, Ray Neal and Billy Garner.

L.D. Randolph, 84, of the Smith Chapel community of Cumberland County, passed away Nov. 20, 2002. Funeral services were conducted Nov. 23 from the chapel of Goff Funeral Home in Monterey, with interment in Smith Chapel Cemetery in Pleasant Hill. The Rev. Willard McCormick officiated.
Mr. Randolph was born July 21, 1918, in Putnam County, TN, the son of Jim and Martha Victoria Bumbalough Randolph.
He was a U.S. Army veteran, and a carpenter.
Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Ruby Anderson Randolph of Smith Chapel; daughters, Trula Webb of Crossville, Lucy Burgess and Wanda Frazier, both of Smith Chapel, and Shirley Douglas of Pleasant Hill; sons, Jim Randolph of Smith Chapel and Randall Randolph of Crossville; 16 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Richard Randolph.

Connie Lynn Asberry, 36, of Crossville, passed away Nov. 10, 2002. Funeral services were conducted Nov. 15 from the chapel of Bilbrey Funeral Home, with burial in Creston Cemetery. Bro. Kenneth Young officiated.
Mrs. Asberry was born June 22, 1966, in Crossville, the daughter of Gordon Miller and Linda Taylor Miller Trewyn.
She was a factory worker, and was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include her son, Jeremy Asberry of Crossville; daughter, Jennifer Asberry of Crossville; mother and stepfather, Linda and Edward Trewyn of Baxter, TN; father, Gordon Miller of Crossville; brothers, Christopher Miller and Michael Miller, both of Crossville; sisters, Tammy Martin and Valerie Roberts, both of Crossville; grandmothers, Mattie Taylor and Pauline Manning, both of Crossville; and stepfather, Andrew Pugh of Crossville.

Herbert L. Godsey
May 23, 1941 - Nov. 18, 2002
Herbert Lee Godsey, 61, of Crossville, passed away Nov. 18, 2002. Funeral services were conducted Nov. 21 from the chapel of Crossville Memorial Funeral Home, with Pastor Tony Grayson officiating. Burial was in Haley's Grove Cemetery, next to Mr. Godsey's son, Elvin Bradley Godsey. The Veterans Honor Guard acted as pallbearers, played "Taps" and gave a 21-gun salute.
Mr. Godsey was born May 23, 1941, in Somerset, KY, the son of Oliver Bradley and Nellie Godby Godsey.
He was a retired truck driver, and a U.S. Army and U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean War. He was a member of Chestnut Hill Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife of 38 years, Opal Jane Amonett Godsey of Crossville; children, Garland Lee Godsey, Betty Lou Godsey, Nellie Melina Ray, Nina Doneita Hyder and Scotty Keith Godsey, all of Crossville, Michael Godsey and Harold Godsey, both of Oakdale, TN, and Cindy Kay Lawrence of Tulip, AR; brothers, Albert Godsey, Charles Godsey, J.C. Godsey and Elvin Godsey, all of Oakdale; two sons-in-law; one daughter-in-law; 20 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Elvin Bradley Godsey; brothers, Clyde Godsey, James Godsey, Arthur Godsey and Bill Godsey; and sister, Betty Lou Godsey.

Mrs. Hutchinson was born April 15, 1924, in Knoxville, TN, the daughter of Henry and Effie Gibson Rogers.

Mrs. Tollett was born Nov. 9, 1931, in Cumberland County, the daughter of Dillard and Dollie Robbins Threet.
She was a homemaker, and a member of Lantana Church of Christ.
Survivors include her daughters, Elizabeth Ann Lockhart of Pikeville, TN, and Brenda Williams of Crossville; sons, Charles T. Howard Frank Milke, 75, of Crossville, passed away Nov. 17, 2002. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, Nov. 21 at 4 p.m. at the family's home in Crossville. Butch Stapleton will officiate.
Mr. Milke was born April 28, 1927, in Patterson, NJ, the son of Louis John and Clara Brain Milke.
He was a milkman, then a newspaper man for the Ft. Lauderdale (FL) Sun Sentinel from 1979-'90. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. He attended First Baptist Church of Pleasant Hill.
Survivors include his wife, Muriel E. Milke of Crossville; daughters and sons-in-law, Jean and Ken Hresko of Crossville, and Linda and Bill Kelly of Ft. Lauderdale; son and daughter-in-law, Louis and Karen Milke of Crossville; brother, Charles Milke of New Jersey; grandchildren, Dalton, Louis Jr. and Bobby, all of Crossville, and Billy and Kevin, both of Ft. Lauderdale; great-grandchildren, Dylan and Triston Milke; and many nieces and nephews.

John P. Mullikin

John Price Mullikin, 77, of Crossville, passed away Nov. 13, 2002. No services are planned. A private burial will be held in Maryland at a later date.
Mr. Mullikin was born Nov. 11, 1925, in Centerville, MD, the son of Charles W. and Emma L. Cook Mullikin.
He was a quality control inspector for SKF Bearings Co., and was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. He was of the Methodist faith, and was a member of the Masons in Skowhegan, ME, and the VFW in Maryland.
Survivors include his wife, Charlotte Mullikin of Crossville; son and daughter-in-law, John P. and Annette Mullikin of Crossville, and their son, Sean; daughter, Wanda La Bar of Nelson, PA, and her children, Samantha and Danielle; brother, Joseph Mullikin of Centerville, MD; sister, Mary Edith Aiken of Wilmington, DE; great-granddaughter, Chelsea Ann; and a host of nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Robert H. Mullikin and Charles W. Mullikin; and sister, Adelaide McGann.

Samuel L. Piercy

Samuel "Sam" Lynn Piercy, 38, of Crossville, passed away Nov. 11, 2002. Funeral services were conducted Nov. 13 from the chapel of Hood Funeral Home, with graveside committal services held Nov. 14 in Crossville City Cemetery. The Rev. Danny Bell officiated.
Mr. Piercy was born Sept. 19, 1964, in Crossville, the son of Sam Wesley Jr. and Lois Mae Carter Piercy.
He was a local business owner of Sam's Satellite.
Survivors include his wife, Malisa Piercy of Crossville; father and mother, Sam and Lois Piercy of Crossville; sons, Samuel Benjamin and Wesley Robert Piercy of Crossville; daughters, Jennifer and Megan Piercy of Crossville; mother- and father-in-law, Steve and Carol Mullinax of Crossville; sister and brother-in-law, Devonda and Billy Poore of Crossville; niece, Sharissa Poore of Crossville; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Steve and Vanessa Mullinax of Crossville; and best friends, Charlie Bowman, Sam Baisley and A.V. Mrs. Ross was born July 25, 1930, in Cumberland County, the daughter of Virgil Franklin and Enid Clara Farmer Smith.
She was a supervisor for Bell South Telephone Co., and was a member of Fairfield Glade Church of Christ.
Survivors include her nephews, Ronald Majors of Atlanta, GA, Thomas Majors of Hoseton, GA, and Johnny Majors of St. Petersburg, FL.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest James Ross; sister, Marie Majors; aunt, Robbie Sweet; and cousin, Bobby Allen Smith Sr.

Survivors include Mr. and Mrs. Scarbrough's sons and daughters-in-law, Charles and Dawn Scarbrough, and Bob and Tracey Scarbrough, all of Crossville; and grandchildren, Kelsey Scarbrough, Gabe Scarbrough and Nerissa Scarbrough.
Mr. Scarbrough was born Feb. 4, 1947, in Cumberland County, the son of Robert Sr. and Helen Slaven Scarbrough.
He was a building contractor, and a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War. He was a member of Cornerstone Baptist Church.
Survivors include his mother, Helen Scarbrough of Crossville; brother, Jerry Scarbrough of Crossville; sisters, Ann Kerley, Glenda Campbell, Mary Wilson and Sherry Pelfrey, all of Crossville, and Cindy Allen and Charlotte Cross, both of Cookeville; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Scarbrough Sr.
Mrs. Scarbrough was born Feb. 26, 1950, in Cumberland County, the daughter of Moses and Violet Rector Tollett.
She was a rural mail carrier, and a member of Cornerstone Baptist Church.
Survivors include her mother, Violet Kowals of Crossville; brother, Hubert Tollett of Tucson, AZ; sister, Mosetta Dixon of Crossville; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father, Moses Tollett.
Mr. Scarbrough's pallbearers were Delmer Wyatt, Carson Norris, Eugene Randolph, Gwen Millwood, Sonny Millwood, Ron Blaylock, Andy Goss and Scott Maddux.

John Harold "Jack" White, 85, of Crossville, passed away Nov. 18, 2002. A memorial service was held Nov. 22 at Crossville First United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Carleton Thackston and the Rev. Carolyn Bingham officiating.
Mr. White was born Feb. 5, 1917, in Pembroke, KY, the son of John Henry and Helen Thompson White.
He was an IBM field engineer, and was a member of Crossville First United Methodist Church.

Mr. Fiess was born Nov. 27, 1926, in Coral Gables, FL, the son of Herman E. Sr. and Bertina Maloney Fiess.
He was a truck driver for Gulf Oil Company, and was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Veronica Louise Fiess of Fairfield Glade; daughters, Mary Shaffer of Delmar, NY, Kathleen Fiess of New York, NY, Barbara Suler of Bloomingdale, NJ, and Elizabeth Noack of West Orange, NJ; stepson, Stephen J. Mr. Jones was born Oct. 9, 1911, in Putnam County, TN, the son of Putterman and Fannie Burton Jones.
He was a farmer and a rural mail carrier, and was of the Church of Christ faith.

Edward Alexander Laffrey Jr., 80, and his wife, Mary Loretta Laffrey, 75, both of Crossville, passed away Nov. 11, 2002. A memorial service was conducted Nov. 15 from the chapel of Bilbrey Funeral Home, with burial in Green Acres Memory Gardens. Bro. Johnny Reeves officiated, with special music by Irle E. Farden Jr., Justin W. Cecil and Pete Baudendistel.
Survivors include Mr. and Mrs. Laffrey's six children, Daniel Laffrey and Wade Laffrey, both of Crossville, Gary Laffrey of Orlando, FL, Deborah Jenae of Hawaii, Mark Laffrey of Clinton, TN, and Jim Laffrey of Ebina, Japan; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Mr. Laffrey was born Nov. 8, 1922, in Detroit, MI, the son of Edward A. Sr. and Gladys Poole Laffrey.
He was a cabinet maker, and served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He enjoyed coin collecting, woodworking and model trains.
Survivors include his sisters, Edna Kunna of Lehigh, FL, and Lana Hensley of Crossville; and brothers, Elden Laffrey of LaBelle, FL, and Fred Laffrey and George Laffrey, both of Roseville, MI.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Harold Laffrey; and grandson, Gary John Laffrey.
Mrs. Laffrey was born June 13, 1927, in Detroit, MI, the daughter of Edward R. and Ann Leona Callaghan Brown.
She was a cook for Cumberland County Schools, and of the Catholic faith. She enjoyed working puzzles, boating and flower gardening.
Survivors include her brothers, Doug Brown, Gerald Brown and Dennis Brown, all of Michigan; and sisters, Gloria Platte, Jacqueline Helzer, Elizabeth Balas, Patricia Holmquist, Virginia Wagner, Nancy Foster, Dixie Martin and Cathy Callaghan, all of Michigan.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Rita Malloch; and grandson, Gary John Laffrey.

Mr. Morris was born March 14, 1924, in Crab Orchard, the son of Houston and Minnie McDaniel Morris.
He was retired from the U.S. Army, having served in World War II, and the Korean and Vietnam wars. He was a Mason and a member of the Shriners, and was a member of the Plateau Amateur Radio Club.
Survivors include his wife, Estella Pugh Morris of Crossville, and brother, Robert H. Morris of Crossville.

Mrs. Stover was born Dec. 15, 1914, in Cumberland County, the daughter of John and Maude McNeal Kindrick.
She was a homemaker, and worked as bookkeeper for L.C. Turner Plumbing Company for 17 years. She had been a member of the Church of Christ since age 11, and taught Bible classes for many years. She won many Bible quiz contests in Crossville and Cookeville, TN. She was a member of Woody Home Demonstration Club (FCE), Senior Citizens, and the Association of Retired Teachers.
Survivors include her stepdaughter, Grace Martin of Crossville; sons, Foy Stover, Vaughn Stover and Conald Stover, all of Crossville; sister, Lois Thurman of Crossville; 11 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; and five step-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Wesley Stover; son, Marlen Stover; and brothers, Maynard Kindrick, Conard Kindrick and Rondal Kindrick.

The Rev. W. Walter Hall, 86, of Knoxville, passed away Nov. 10, 2002. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, Nov. 14 at 2 p.m. at New Covenant United Church of Christ, Williamsport, PA. Burial will be in Friends Cemetery, Pennsdale, PA.
The Rev. Hall was born Nov. 3, 1916 in Spartanburg, SC.
He was a minister in the United Church of Christ for 55 years. He served the Pleasant Hill Community Church from 1972 to 1982, and was active in the Cumberland County Volunteer Fire Department.
Survivors include his sons and daughters-in-law, W. Grant and Carolyn Hall of Sandy, UT, Dr. Vaughn D. and Ella Hall of Knoxville, and John W. and Jill Hall of Crossville; daughter and son-in-law, Margaret H. and Oscar Fowler of Haines City, FL; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and four sisters.

Robert H. Schoch of Lake Tansi, also known as Bob Scott, "The Voice of Channel 12," passed away Nov. 7, 2002. A memorial service was held Nov. 11 at the chapel of Bilbrey Funeral Home, with the Rev. Davis Babcock officiating.
Mr. Schoch was born March 17, 1929, in Philadelphia, PA.
After serving as a staff sergeant (SP5) and drill instructor in the U.S. Marine Corps, he settled in Memphis, TN, where he met and married Betty Jo Rhodes. He began his broadcasting career at WHBQ in Memphis, where he hosted a radio show called "The Sounds of Memphis." He went to Flint, MI, in 1958 at the inception of WJRT-TV12 and stayed until his retirement in 1989. He was an avid golfer who participated in several charity events, including Toys for Tots and the Bob Scott Open, which benefited cystic fibrosis research.
Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Betty Jo of Lake Tansi; daughter, Patricia of Portland, OR; son and daughter-in-law, Gregory and Jennifer of Los Angeles, CA; daughter and son-in-law, Cristin and John of Fenton, MI; son, Timothy of Wellington, New Zealand; and grandchildren, Jack and Sydney of Fenton, MI.

Ms. Upchurch was born Oct. 17, 1932, in Shawneetown, IL, and spent her younger years in East Prairie, MO. Following the death of her father, Jean was raised by her foster parents, Bill and Ida Wolfe.
She was a former principal's assistant at Pikeville (TN) Elementary School, as well as the former station manager for local radio station WUAT in Pikeville. She was an avid reader, and was a member of Pikeville United Methodist Church.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Molly and John Dishman of Crossville; son and daughter-in-law, Howard and Vicki Upchurch of Pikeville; sister, Ruth Ishmael of East Prairie, MO; brother, James A. "Bo" Nall of Benton, MO; grandchildren, Charles J. Sinclair of Knoxville, Erik Dishman and Allyson Dishman, both of Crossville, and Emily Jean Upchurch and Howard "Luke" Upchurch Jr., both of Pikeville; foster parents, Ida and Bill Wolfe of Connecticut.
She was preceded in death by her son, Charles Proctor Upchurch.

Mr. Smith was born Sept. 14, 1939, in Detroit, MI, the son of Charles L. and Myrtle Anderson Smith.
He was a tool and dye maker for Chrysler, and a member of Fairfield Glade United Methodist Church. He served in the U.S. Army 1958-1960.
Survivors include his wife, Rosann Catalano Smith of Fairfield Glade; son, Michael Smith of Roseville, MI; daughter, Lisa Bourean of Easley, SC; mother, Myrtle Smith of Port St. Lucie, FL; and sister, Barbara Ann Smith of Port St. Lucie.
He was preceded in death by his son, Charles Smith.
The family requests that memorials be made to Hospice.

Kenneth Dunbar, 75, of Crossville, passed away Oct. 26, 2002. Funeral services were conducted Oct. 28 from the chapel of Bilbrey Funeral Home, with burial in Crossville City Cemetery. The Rev. Russell Honeycutt officiated.
Mr. Dunbar was born June 13, 1927, in Cumberland County, the son of Henry and Mable Cook Dunbar.
He was in construction, and was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include his wife, Mildred Woody Dunbar of Crossville; sons, Kenny Dunbar and Tommy Dunbar, both of Crossville; daughters, Helen Wilson and Janice Cox, both of Crossville; sister, Estelle Dunbar of Crossville; brother, Ed Dunbar of Crossville; grandchildren, David Wilson, Daniel Wilson, Allison Wilson and Jennifer Cox; and great-grandchildren, Clay Wilson, Calvin Wilson, Ashley Wilson and Bethany Wilson.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, John Dunbar and Clarence Dunbar; and sisters, Dorothy Hensley, Louise Bow and Edna Madison.
Pallbearers were Joe Lee Smith, Ted Johnson, Jack Johnson, Greg Blaylock, Freddy Hayes and James Hayes.

Lee R. Kerley

Lee R. Kerley, 60, of Biloxi, MS, formerly of Crossville, passed away Nov. 3, 2002. Funeral services will be conducted today (Wednesday) at 1:30 p.m. at Cedar Lake Christian Assembly in Biloxi. Burial will be in Biloxi National Cemetery, with full military honors.
Mr. Kerley was born Aug. 3, 1942, in Crossville.
He had been a Biloxi resident for the past 33 years. He retired from the U.S. Air Force as a master sergeant after more than 20 years of service. He served as executive director of the Boys and Girls Clubs of the Gulf Coast from 1982 until his death, and belonged to numerous Boys and Girls Clubs Associations. He attended Cedar Lake Christian Assembly.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Kerley of Biloxi; daughter, Carrie White of Latimer, MS; son, Glen Kerley of Ocean Springs, MS; mother, Nadine Kerley of Crossville; brothers, Glenn Kerley of Knoxville, TN, and Billy Kerley of Crossville; and three grandchildren.
The family prefers memorials be made to Boys and Girls Clubs of the Gulf Coast, P.O. Box 1166, Biloxi, MS 39533.

Steven Padgett, 25, of Clarkrange, TN, passed away Nov. 5, 2002. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, Nov. 7 at 11 a.m. from the chapel of Goff Funeral Home in Monterey, TN. The Rev. Arthur Hall and the Rev. David Phillips will officiate, with interment to follow in Campground Cemetery.

Mr. Padgett was born Aug. 6, 1977, in Dayton, OH, the son of Arthur Dee Hall and Brenda Rector Padgett.
He was a construction worker.

Mr. Bowman was born June 15, 1937, in Overton County, TN, the son of Lonnie and Ruth Pippin Bowman.

Thomas G. Gibbons, 72, of Fairfield Glade, passed away Oct. 28, 2002. A memorial service was held Nov. 2 at Fairfield Glade United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Max Mayo officiating.
Mr. Gibbons was born April 3, 1930, in Detroit, MI, the son of William and Bernice Taylor Gibbons.
He was employed in the clerical department of Ford Motor Company, and was a member of Fairfield Glade United Methodist Church. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Korean War.
Survivors include his wife, Clara Gibbons of Fairfield Glade; son and daughter-in-law, Brian and Claudia Gibbons of South Carolina; brother and sister-in-law, Duane and Linda Gibbons of Michigan; grandchild, Lexi, of South Carolina; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.

to follow in the Midway Cemetery. The Rev. Dewayne Whittaker and the Rev. Clayton Padgett will officiate.
Mrs. Padgett was born March 22, 1915, in Overton County,
to the late Vanis and Ova Phillips Bilbrey.
She was a homemaker and a member of the Midway Freewill Baptist Church.
Mrs. Padgett is survived by her daughters, Della Norrod of Hanging Limb, Ann Carr of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, Wanda McCowan of Monterey and Chris Lewis of Smithville; son Bernard Padgett of Clarkrange; 20 grandchildren; numerous great- and great-great-grandchildren; sister Deva Melton of Monterey; and brother Bestel Bilbrey of the Crossroads community.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Loyd Padgett; daughter Lorene Leming; son Loyal Padgett; sisters Elva Swallows, Delsie Swallows, Elsie McCowan and Belva Phillips; and brothers Destel, Estel and Vestel Bilbrey.

Mary Wyatt, 89, of Crossville, passed away Oct. 27, 2002 at Country Place Health Care Center. Funeral services were held Oct. 30, 2002 in the Chapel of Crossville Memorial Funeral Home with burial in Woody Cemetery. The Rev. Jerome McCoy, assisted by Joy Whittenburg and Dana Day, officiated. Special music was provided by Roberta Shubert.
Mrs. Wyatt was born Feb. 3, 1913 in Livingston.
She was a homemaker and a member of the Baptist faith.
She is survived by son and daughter-in-law Hoy and Car-
lee Wyatt of Gatlinburg; daughter and son-in-law Gladys and Norbert Whittenburg of Crossville; sons and daughter-
in-laws Dolan and Sheila Wyatt of Toledo, OH, and Rama and Marsha Wyatt of Crossville; sister Hazel Wyatt; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Wyatt was preceded in death by her husband, Wil-
bert Wyatt; parents Henry and Susan Richardson; brothers
