Mary E. Irwin
Nov. 26, 1929 - March 29, 2004
Mary Elizabeth Irwin, 74, of Crossville, passed away March 29, 2004. The family will receive friends Wednesday, March 31, in the chapel of Crossville Memorial Funeral Home from 6-8 p.m. Graveside services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Thursday, April 1, at Woody Cemetery. Todd McDonald of Lawrence Chapel Church of God of Prophecy will officiate.
Mrs. Irwin was born Nov. 26, 1929, in Goodlettsville, TN, the daughter of Claude Ellis Martin and John Etta Burklin Martin.
She was a homemaker.
Survivors include her sons, John Lovell of Athens, TN and Gary Irwin of Forrest Park, GA; daughter, Vicki Watkins of Nashville; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and special friend, Wallace Keyes of Crossville.

Hugh F. Lemons Jr.
March 30, 2004

Hugh Franklin "Jock" Lemons Jr. passed away March 30, 2004. Memorial services will be held Thursday, April 1, at 7 p.m. in the chapel of Evans Mortuary of Rockwood, with the Rev. Larry Treadway and Chaplain Joe Nilsen officiating.
Mr. Lemons dedicated his life to God a few months ago. He was employed as a subcontractor for Fairfield Glade and had retired from Lemons' Audio Visual. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict where he earned a National Defense Service Medal. He was also a member of the Tennessee National Guard.
He was a former member of the Shriners with Al Mennah Temple. He was an avid golfer and loved to play, but his family came first. He loved to watch his cattle and his dog "Easy Money," which was once on the top of his list.
Survivors include his wife, Joyce Marie Lemons of Spring City; son, Mike Lemons of Spring City; daughter and son-in-law, Marsha and Mike Bowman of Cookeville; father, Hugh Franklin Lemons Sr. of Spring City; grandsons, Brian Bowman and Justin Bowman of Cookeville; stepchildren, Shane Phillips and his wife, Shannon, and Shawn Phillips and his wife, Mary, all of Cookeville; step-grandchildren, Emily Phillips, Amanda Phillips, Melanie Phillips and Nathan Phillips; special aunts, Betty Jiles and Nell Treadway, both of Rockwood; and a host of special family members, friends and golfing buddies.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Willie Mae Jiles Lemons; and very special uncle, Rusty Jiles.

Roland Aytes
March 25, 2004

The Rev. Roland Aytes, 93, formerly of the Frankfort community, passed away March 25, 2004 in the Cumberland County Medical Center. He was a resident of The Cumberland Ridge Assisted Living Center. He was a Methodist minister for more than 40 years in the Holstan Conference, with 18 years in Dandridge.
Survived include his children, Elise Hook of Baton Rouge, LA; Willis Aytes of Knoxville; Anna Aytes of Denver, CO; and Costen Aytes of Denver, CO; sisters, Ruth Lee and Roberta Wampler; nine grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by Laura Neskaug Aytes, his wife of more than 50 years.
Funeral services were conducted March 29 from the chapel of Schubert Funeral Home of Wartburg. Interment followed in the Frankfort Church Cemetery.

Ray R. Brown
March 25, 2004

Ray R. Brown, 83, of Sunbright, passed away March 25 in the Country Place Nursing Home in Crossville.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia (Jones) Brown; and his parents, George and Lou Vinnie (Lankford) Brown.
He is survived by his stepsons, Jerry Jones and Billy Jones, both of Sunbright; grandchildren, Laura Taggert of Galion, Ohio, Jeffery Jones of Nashville and Jason Jones of Murfreesboro; and a host of nieces, nephews other family members and friends.
Funeral services were conducted March 27 from the chapel of Schubert Funeral Home, with Bro. Perry Spurling officiating. Interment followed in Union Grove Cemetery.

Harvey R. Cline
April 8, 1922 - March 20, 2004

Harvey Rue Cline, 81, of Manchester, TN, formerly of Crossville, passed away March 20, 2004. Funeral services were conducted March 23 from the chapel of Bilbrey Funeral Home, with burial in Oak Hill Cemetery. The Rev. Frank Walker officiated, with special music by the Pomona Methodist Church Singers.
Mr. Cline was born April 8, 1922 in Cumberland County, the son of Joseph Lamuel Cline and Willie Maude Painter Cline.
He was a farmer and of the Methodist faith.
Survivors include his sons, David Cline of Goodlettsville, Bobby Joe Cline of Nashville and Harvey L. Cline of Manchester; daughters, Willie Ruth Potts of Springfield, TN and Jane Gossett of White Bluff, TN; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; brothers, Lee and Bill Cline of Crossville and Bob Cline of Nashville; and sisters, Nell Farris of Crossville and Emogene DeBraun of Florida.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Bena Mae Carey Cline.
Pallbearers were Kent Cline, Joe Cline, Larry Farris, Donald Farris Jr., Frank Miller and Jamie Blair.

Donnie Smith
Feb. 21, 1953 - March 27, 2004

Donnie Smith, 51, of Monterey, passed away March 27, 2004. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, March 30, from the chapel of Goff Funeral Home, with interment following in the Phillips Cemetery in the Anderson community. The Rev. Kenny Smith, the Rev. Kevin Smith and the Rev. Willie Anderson will officiate.
Mr. Smith was born Feb. 21, 1953 in Tennessee, the son of Bertie Harris Davidson and the late Bill Smith.
He was a member of the Crossroads Freewill Baptist Church where he served as deacon.
Survivors include his wife of 32 years, Nora Anderson Smith of Monterey; twin sons and their wives, the Rev. Kenny and Leanne Smith and the Rev. Kevin and Karen Smith, all of Monterey; mother and stepfather, Bertie and Lewis Davidson of Livingston; grandchildren, Chase, Shelby, Kenlee, Carson and Denver; twin brother and his wife, Ronnie and Kathy Smith of Crossville; and grandmother, Bell Harris of Monterey.

Hubert L. Taylor
Jan. 3, 1932 - March 18, 2004

Hubert Lee Taylor, 72, of Crossville, passed away March 18, 2004. Funeral services were conducted March 21 from the chapel of Bilbrey Funeral Home, with burial in Green Acres Memory Gardens. Bro. Floyd Elmore officiated.
Mr. Taylor was born Jan. 3, 1932 in Cumberland County, the son of Robert L. and Emma Elmore Taylor.
He was a construction worker and of the Baptist faith. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict.
Survivors include his son, John Campbell of Crossville; brother, David Taylor of Crossville; grandchildren, Tiffany, Dustin and Zachary Campbell of Crossville; many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, James, Charles and Robert Taylor; and sister, Ruby Hopper.
Pallbearers were Jody Campbell, David E. Taylor, Jim Wyatt, Hollis Wyatt, Matt Taylor, David Taylor, Rondal Barnwell and James Wyatt.

Mary J. Moroney
May 24, 1933 - March 24, 2004
Mary Janisse Moroney, 70, of Crossville, passed away March 24, 2004. Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 27, at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church. Father Patrick Brownell will officiate.
Mrs. Moroney was born May 24, 1933 in Royal Oak, MI, the daughter of Joseph Oswald and Genivieve Murphy Janisse.
She was a homemaker and a member of St. Alphonsus Catholic Church. She had many hobbies which included oil painting, hooking rugs and planting flowers in her flower gardens. She was also an avid golfer and loved playing horseshoes.
Survivors include her husband, William Newell Moroney II of Crossville; sons and daughters-in-law, James Patrick and Jay Moroney of Crossville, Robert James and Natalie Moroney of Cincinnati, OH and William Newell Moroney III of Livonia, MI; daughter and son-in-law, Mary Kathryn and Timothy Borovich of Cincinnati, OH; sister, Joan Dowel of Flint, MI; grandchildren, Katie Borovich, Melissa, Megan and Patrick Moroney, Sydney and Conner Moroney and Cinnamon Moroney; and great-grandchild, Spencer Moroney.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Patrick William Moroney.

Clyde England
Sept. 24, 1917 - March 16, 2004
Clyde England, 86, of Crossville, was born Sept. 24, 1917 in the Clifty-Ridgedale community, the son of Norman and Ella Dodd England. He attended Pleasant Hill Academy and Cumberland County High School.
Twin sons, Clay and Clyde, were born to the England family; Clay passed away 17 years ago, and Clyde passed away March 16, 2004 in Cumberland Medical Center. Clyde and Clay moved to Chattanooga, TN where Clyde began his career with the Krystal Hamburgers chain and spent several years with them until he moved back to Crossville and built his first hamburger (E&B) shop with his cousin, Ellis Blaylock, on Water Tank Hill. Years later Clyde built Clyde's Drive-in which he operated for 10 years, advertised as the place of great and delicious hamburgers, shakes and Uncle Roy's fried chicken. Later the Dille Shop Corp was started with locations in Crossville, Sparta and Westel.
Clyde was a member of the Masonic Lodge, a Shriner and the Scottish Rite. In earlier years he was active in the CCC program during World War II on the Cumberland Mountain. Clyde enjoyed local and state politics, serving as Cumberland County Commissioner for eight years, working on several road projects and representing the 5th District in Cumberland County. He served as campaign director for the late Gov. Frank Clement and also for Buford Ellington. As a political person, he enjoyed helping the youth find jobs in the city, county and state, and he helped many people with highway department positions, Tennessee Highway Patrol and other state facilities.
Clyde was a great outdoorsman, enjoying fishing and quail hunting. He was a member of National Trappers Enthusiasts. He conducted workshops on proper and humane trapping procedures at Tennessee Tech's Hooper Eblem Center and was known as one of the best trappers of mink, coyote, fox and beaver.
Clyde enjoyed a good golf match and watching golf on television. He was an Atlanta Braves fan and enjoyed playing pool as well as fellowship with his senior friends each week.
He was active in the First Christian Church many years with Bro. Jack Irwin, his pastor. He was baptized by Bro. Jack 27 years ago and remained a faithful church member as long as his health permitted. He loved Southern gospel music, and Clyde, Ralph and Bro. Vern Daugherty had many wonderful singing concerts that were held in area churches for many years, dating back to 1973.
Funeral services for Clyde England were conducted March 18 from the chapel of Bilbrey Funeral Home, with Bros. Vern Daugherty and Jack Irwin officiating. Special music was performed by the Dan Farris Singers, Donna England and Debbie Wood. Graveside committal was held Friday, March 19, at Green Acres Memory Gardens.
Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Stephanie and Stephen Cooke of Oak Ridge; grandson, Samuel England Cooke of Oak Ridge; brother and sister-in-law, Ralph and Reba England of Crossville; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Russell England; and brothers, Clay England and Johnnie Bennett.
Pallbearers were Michael England, Wade England, Michael Wade England, Jace England, Ronnie Dyer, Kylo Lewis and Andrew Lewis.
Honorary pallbearers were Ellis Blaylock, Clyde Blaylock, Bob Matthews, Fred Rackley, J.T. Webb, John Wyatt, Gordon Vonhoy, Bill Crabtree, Mitch Eldridge and Beecher Frazier.
The family requests that memorials be made to the Gideons, American Heart Association or the American Cancer Society.

Ben F. Meadows
Oct. 20, 1929 - March 12, 2004

Ben Franklin "Frank" Meadows, 74, of the DeRossett community, passed away March 12, 2004. Funeral services were conducted March 15 from the chapel of Bilbrey Funeral Home, with burial in Clifty Cemetery. Bro. Eliot Robert officiated.
Mr. Meadows was born Oct. 20, 1929 in Cumberland County, the son of Ben Meadows and Bertha Mae Hodge Meadows.
He was a produce gardener and served in the Army during the Korean Conflict.
Survivors include his daughter, Ruth Lewis of Clifty, TN; grandchildren, Darrick and Nichole Lewis; brother, John Meadows of DeRossett, TN; and sisters, Dorothy Taylor of DeRossett, TN, Blanch Young of Kingston, TN and Marion Booker of Nashville.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, James H. and Leon Meadows; and sister, Francis Meadows.
Pallbearers were Clyde Meadows, Charles Meadows, Larry Meadows, James Meadows, Lewayne Meadows and Dell Chubby Lewis.

Richard H. Meyer
Oct. 18, 1919 - March 14, 2004

Richard Henry Meyer, 84, of Cookeville, passed away March 14, 2004. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, March 24 at the Cedar Hills Retirement Center in Cookeville, with the Rev. Rebecca Larson officiating.
Mr. Meyer was born Oct. 18, 1919 in Jersey City, NY, the son of Adolph and Anna Bove Meyer.
He was a salesman in real estate and of the Methodist faith. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Anna Dorothey Hughes of Cookeville; son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Cheryl Meyer Sr. of Crossville; grandchildren, Robert Meyer Jr. of Kenner, LA, Richard Meyer of Paducah, KY and Samantha Smith of Matairie, LA; great-grandchildren, Danielle, Reese and Keely; and sister, Jewell Meyer of Arizona.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Dorothy Wordley.

James W. Short
May 8, 1919 - March 17, 2004

James (Jim) William Short, 84, of Crossville, passed away March 17, 2004. Funeral services were conducted March 20 from the chapel of Bilbrey Funeral Home, with Bro. Wade Webster officiating and music provided by the Church of Christ Singers. Burial will be in Jefferson Memorial Park in Pittsburgh, PA.
Mr. Short was born May 8, 1919 in Mifflin Township, PA, the son of Newton and Jennie Ambler Short.
He was a metallurgical claim analyst for the U.S. Steel Co. and member of the Church of Christ. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Survivors include his stepdaughter, Judith Kittner of Bluffton, SC; stepsons, John M. Kish and David Kish of Pittsburgh, PA; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; niece, Jennifer Kingler of Bethel Park, PA; and great-niece, Wendy Wilson of Franklin, TN.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Pauline Miles Short; stepdaughter, Linda Grossman; brothers, Carl and Frank Short; and niece, Barbara Bishop.

Ollie J. Wilson
Jan. 8, 1915 - March 9, 2004

Ollie Jane Wilson, 89, of Crossville, passed away March 9, 2004. Funeral services were conducted March 12 from the chapel of Crossville Memorial Funeral Home, with burial in Thomas Springs Cemetery. Delbert Raines officiated.
Mrs. Wilson was born Jan. 8, 1915 in Cumberland County, the daughter of Alfred and Eliza Jane Warner Lewis.
She was a homemaker and a member of Calvary Freewill Baptist Church.
Survivors include her children, Amy Bolin, Mary Tabor, Paul Wilson, Ronnie Wilson, Danny Wilson and Jerry Wilson; 24 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two husbands, Roy Wilson and Eston Wilson; children, Eleanor Benton, Elbert Wilson and Uldean Stone; brothers and sisters, Letha Lewis Evans, Bert Lewis, Ulus Lewis, Dora Lewis Carr, Ida Lewis Hawkins, Ova Lewis Wyatt and Everett "Buck" Lewis.

Sarah L. Berry
Aug. 26, 1919 - March 18, 2004

Sarah Little Berry, 84, of Crossville, passed away March 18, 2004. Funeral services were conducted March 20 at the Homestead Methodist Church, with the Rev. Faye Tucker officiating. Graveside committal was held March 21 at Anderson County Memorial Gardens in Oak Ridge.
Mrs. Berry was born Aug. 26, 1919 in Springfield, TN, the daughter of Luther and Lydia Duncan Phipps.
She had been a nurse's aide at the Oak Ridge Methodist Hospital in Oak Ridge. She was a member of the Homestead Methodist Church.
Survivors include her sons and daughters-in-law, Doug and Linda Little of Crossville and Dean and Debby Little of Delray Beach, FL; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; brother, Calvin Phipps of North Carolina; and sisters, Margaret Peterson of Phoenix, AZ and Grace Grubbs of Greenbrier, TN.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, Eli S. Little and James Berry; and sisters, Catherine Biever, Jay Lydia Estes and Virginia Cole.
The family requests that memorials be made to the Homestead Methodist Church building fund.

Mary E. B. Brewer

Mary E. Brown Brewer, 91, of Geneva, OH, passed away March 21, 2004. Funeral services were conducted March 25 at Geneva Baptist Church in Geneva, OH, with burial in Evergreen Cemetery in Geneva, OH. The Rev. Richard Thompson of Geneva Baptist Church officiated.
Mrs. Brewer was born March 10, 1913 in Crossville, the daughter of Alfred and Susie Elizabeth (Tabor) Wyatt.
A Geneva area resident since 1952, she enjoyed cooking and gardening. She was a former member of the Eastern Star and a member of Geneva Baptist Church. She was a matron for 15 years with the Geneva Area City Schools.
Survivors include her sons, N. Dean (Janice) Brown of Geneva, OH, Kenneth H. (Yvonne) Brown of Anderson, SC and F. Douglas (Joyce) Brown of Geneva, OH; daughter, Katie (Monte) Erwin of Geneva, OH; stepson, Francis (Jeanette) Brewer Jr. of Ashtabula, OH; 13 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; brother, Calvin Coolidge Wyatt of Crossville; and sister, Cora Lee Dykes of Crossville.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Fred Brown in 1950; second husband, Francis V. Brewer in 1984; son, Lenley Brown; stepsons, Nate and Harold Brewer; stepdaughter, Ardyth Rose; granddaughter, Ellen Beitel; great-grandson, Jason Berg; sisters, Ida Wyatt, Lissie Wyatt, Belle Newman, Viola Copeland and Lila Robinson; and brothers, John D., H.L., Riley, Carrell, Albert, Andy, Frank, Edward, Taylor and Ronald.

Dennis Brock
March 21, 2004

Dennis "Keith" Brock, 55 of Midtown, passed away March 21, 2004 at the Oak Ridge Hospital.
Mr. Brock was born in Crossville, TN where he lived until age 5, then moved to Oak Ridge, TN. He graduated from Oak Ridge High School in 1967 and soon moved to Roane County. There he was baptized in Christ at the Kingston Church of Christ.
He loved the outdoors and was an avid fisherman. He also enjoyed rock crawling with the Plum Crazed Jeep Club, of which he was a member. He was also a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles No. 3402. He was a retired machinist from K-25, Tennessee Tool & Engineering, and Cross Ridge Precision.
He touched the lives of many young men as little league football coach during the years 1977 through 1984.
Survivors include his wife, Linda Gillentine Brock; parents, J.V. and Ethelene Brock of Oak Ridge; sons, Dennis and his wife, Jaime and Jeff and his wife, Dee; stepchildren, June Rodriguez and her husband, Joe, Deena Ladd and her husband, Ricky and Durk Marler and his wife, Dana; brother, Mike and his wife, Kay, of Cleveland, TN; sisters, Donna Sheets and her husband, Andy and Patricia Morrow and her husband, Mike, all of Oak Ridge; grandchildren, Caanan, Eden, Christopher, Logan, Layna, Jessica, Coty, Etienne, Haley, Ashley; and several nieces and nephews. He is also survived by very dear and special friends Keith and Dot Stout, Laura, Wendy, Mandi and Breeanna, all of Harriman.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Lee and Amanda Brock and Kelly and Prietta Jackson, all of Crossville.
A memorial service will be conducted at 8 p.m. Wednesday, March 24, in the Kyker Chapel. The family will receive friends from 7 until 8 p.m. Wednesday at Kyker Funeral Home in Kingston.

Cordell Lewis
Sept. 12, 1931 - March 18, 2004

Cordell "Corky" Lewis, 72, of Cumberland County, passed away March 18, 2004. Funeral services were conducted March 21 from the chapel of Hood Funeral Home, with burial in Smith Chapel Cemetery. Bro. Al Watkins and Bro. Randy Norris officiated.
Mr. Lewis was born Sept. 12, 1931 in Cumberland County, the son of Charles Ervin and Bertha Mae Seals Lewis.
He was a retired iron worker and a member of the Iron Workers Union. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening and loved the outdoors.
Survivors include his wife, Helen Page Lewis of Cumberland County; son, Charles Lewis of York, NE; daughters and sons-in-law, Brenda and Greg Saltzman of Lushton, NE, Teresa and Ed Anderson, Karen and Joe Pfeffer, Susan and Jeff West and Connie Williams, all of York, NE; brother, Ed Lewis of Zephyr Hills, FL; sisters, Christine Agee of Crossville, Lola Norris of Crossville and Thema Salvage of Fairborn, OH; and 11 grandchildren.

Dora M. Smith

Dora Mae Smith, 87, of Crossville, passed away March 19, 2004. Funeral services were conducted March 22 from the chapel of Bilbrey Funeral Home, with burial in Green Acres Memory Gardens. Bro. Danny Smith officiated, with special music by the Crab Orchard Christian Church singers. Poems were read by her granddaughters, Mitzi Dunham, Kim Smith, Amanda Meadows and Carrie and Samantha Smith.
Mrs. Smith was born April 1, 1916 in Overton County, the daughter of William Cullum Tudor and Bitha Jane Todd Tudor.
She was a homemaker and of the Baptist faith.

Fred J. Briggs, 71, of Crossville, formerly of Hillsdale, MI, passed away March 12, 2004. Funeral arrangements are pending.
Mr. Briggs was born Sept. 20, 1932 in Detroit, MI, the son of Fred Ellis and Marjory Lenore Hayes Briggs.
A motorcycle enthusiast in his younger days, he always enjoyed outdoor activities such as hunting and snowmobiling and was always known as a hard worker in a wide variety of fields from master mechanic to caulking and brick-cleaning.
Mr. Briggs married Wilma "Darlene" Hamel on Sept. 2, 1961 and was thankful for 42 years of marriage.
Survivors include his wife, Darlene; sons, Fred M. "Buddy" (Chris) Briggs of Hillsdale, MI and Gary Briggs of Crossville; daughter, Deandra "Dee" Walker of Jonesville, MI; grandchildren, Audrey, Branten and Amanda Harding and Trevor Briggs; and sisters, Audrey Mowers, Eunice DelGado of Sarasota, FL, Lois (Walter) Ploch of Belleville, MI and Louella Sullzowski of Ferndale, MI.

Mr. Murphy was born Oct. 11, 1938 in New York City, NY, the son of Christopher Joseph and Carmella Pisane Murphy.
He was retired from IBM working in maintenance. He was a member of Tennessee Native American Veterans and Disabled American Veterans.

He was a truck driver and was self-employed. He was a U.S. Army veteran and attended the First Freewill Baptist Church in Crossville and Crossroad Baptist Church in Jamestown. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Jamestown and was a member of the Jamestown O.E.S.

Joseph Lembo
Aug. 8, 1916 - March 6, 2004

Joseph Lembo, who was born to immigrant Italian parents, Sam and Jesse Lembo, on August 8, 1916, in Mount Braddock, PA, passed away March 6, 2004, at the WyndRidge Health and Rehab Center in Crossville, TN where he spent the last 15 months of his life. Prior to that Mr. Lembo had lived off Peavine Road since the early 1980s with his wife, Flora Ruth, née Lester, who predeceased him in October 1989.
Mr. Lembo, being very athletic as a youth, became an accomplished amateur baseball player. He worked at Murray Motors in Detroit, MI until they closed and finally retired from the Altes Brewing Company in Detroit, MI, in the early 1970s.
He is survived by a sister, Marie Sferro, of Ohio; a niece, Kathy Jennings; and nephews, John Sferro, also of Ohio, and Frank of New Hampshire. Also surviving Joseph are stepchildren, Foster G. Adkins and Charles R. Adkins of Michigan, Juanita McAlpine of South Carolina, and Genevieve Evennou of Florida, as well as a number of step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren living in various states.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Sam and Jesse Lembo; brothers, Frank, Michael and Alphonse Lembo; and a sister, Rose Gerome.
Mr. Lembo's family will receive visitors at the Rutherford Funeral Home in Worthington, Ohio, from 11:30 a.m. till 12:30 p.m. followed by a memorial service at the Resurrection Cemetery Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Michael Watson, of St. Andrews Catholic Church, with internment following at the cemetery site on March 12, 2004.

Thomas Fitch
June 1, 1934 - Feb. 26, 2004

Captain Tom Fitch, retired airline pilot, passed away Thursday, Feb. 26, at Florida Hospital-Ormond Beach. He was 69.
His family and friends will sorely miss Capt. Fitch. His joy for living was evident in all he did. His smile and contagious sense of humor brought joy to so many others.
Fitch, a native of Metropolis, IL, began pursuing his love of flying at age 15. He attended University of Illinois and American Flyers. He flew for Ozark Airlines for 29 years before his retirement in 1985. Fitch was an active member of Airline Pilots Association and BPOE (ELKS) Ormond Beach, Florida.
Fitch and his wife of 47 years, Natalie Fitch, have been Tennessee residents since 1982. They have spent the past six winters in Daytona Beach, Florida.
Additional survivors include two children, Melonee Lechleiter of Franklin, TN, and David Fitch of Pella, IA; seven grandchildren; a sister, Wardena Ochu of St. Charles, MO; and countless loved ones.
A memorial service will be held at his home church, Grace Evangelical Fellowship, in Crossville, TN, on Saturday, March 27, at 2 p.m.

Daniel Robert Gibson, 84, of New Market, passed away March 7, 2004. The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. EST Tuesday, March 9 at Berry Funeral Home, Chapman Hwy., Knoxville, with funeral services to follow at 7 p.m. Dr. Richard Emmert will officiate. Family and friends will meet at Mt. Olive Cemetery on Wednesday, March 10, at 10:30 a.m. for graveside services.
Mr. Gibson was born Aug. 24, 1919, the son of Robert Edney and Fannie Blanton Gibson.
He lived in Knox County for 76 years and was a member and a deacon of Mt. Olive Baptist Church. He was a retired machinist from Alcoa, Tennessee Operations.
Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Martin Daniel and Tonya Gibson of Crossville; daughter and son-in-law, Donna and Gary Davis of New Market; sister, Nettie Hilbun of Youngstown, OH; grandsons, Jeffrey Davis of Front Royal, VA, Kevin Davis of Chicago, IL and Daniel Justin Gibson of Murfreesboro; loving sisters-in-law, Phyllis Reed and Wanda Dalton; brother-in-law, Don McGahey of Rockville, MD; 14 nephews and 14 nieces.
He was preceded in death by the love of his life, his wife, Dorothy Ballinger Gibson; brothers, Wilburn, Ralph, Goldman and R.E. Gibson Jr.; and sisters, Carrie McGahey, Viola Jones, Emma Reagan and Cumi Gibson.

Lillian Horony, 80, of Crossville, passed away March 4, 2004. Memorial services were held March 6 from the Linary Church of Christ, with Bro. Herbert Dean officiating.
Mrs. Horony was born July 24, 1923 in Titusville, PA, the daughter of James Philo and Julia Elizabeth Clark More.
She was a homemaker and a member of Linary Church of Christ. She was an avid reader, loved writing poetry and was assistant editor for the Titusville Herald in Pennsylvania. She enjoyed watching the birds and squirrels and working in her flower gardens.
Survivors include her sons and daughters-in-law, Alexander and Edna Horony of Crossville and John and Pam Horony of Crossville; stepson and wife, Jim and Virginia Horony of Thrall, TX; daughters and sons-in-law, Rebecca and Ralph Suppa of Youngsville, PA and Julie and Mike Crisp of Apopka, FL; brother, Wyllis More of Centerville, PA; sister, Mary Klark of Warren, PA; 10 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and a host of nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Louis Horony; sister, Margaret More; and brother, Theodore More.

Joseph Hotsinpiller Jr., 77, of Cookeville, passed away March 4, 2004. Funeral services were conducted March 7 from the chapel of Goff Funeral Home of Monterey, with interment in Mayland Cemetery. The Rev. Kerry Higgins officiated.
Mr. Hotsinpiller was born June 2, 1926 in Fairmont, WV, the son of Joseph and Bessie Helm Hotsinpiller Sr.
He was retired from the General Motors Corporation after 22 years of service and was a member of the Knights Chapel Freewill Baptist Church. He was also a World War II Army veteran and a member of the Masonic Lodge in Redford, MI.
Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Reba Phillips Hotsinpiller of Cookeville; daughters, Vivian Jackson of Nashville, Janet Simpson of Cookeville and Kathy Garland of Pinckney, MI; sons, Richard Hotsinpiller of Hillham, TN, James Hotsinpiller of Livonia, MI, Joseph Hotsinpiller of Cookeville and Jimmy Hotsinpiller of Cookeville; 16 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; brother, John Hotsinpiller of Monterey; and sisters, Edna Hotsinpiller of Nashville, Margaret Carponi of Nashville, Shirley Godlewski of Brownstown, MI and Naomi Buckner of Anderson, IN.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers and three sisters, Patricia, Mary, Ruby, Allen, Arthur, Russell and Daniel.

Crystal May Pugh, 74, of Crossville, passed away March 3, 2004. Funeral services were conducted March 5 from the chapel of Hood Funeral Home, with burial in Leffle Webb Cemetery. Bro. Phil Jenkins, Bro. Arlon Way and Bro. David Dalton officiated.
Mrs. Pugh was born May 21, 1929 in Cumberland County, the daughter of John and Maude Stone Houston.
She was a homemaker and a member of Lantana Church of Christ. She enjoyed gardening, quilting and she especially loved her grandchildren.
Survivors include her husband, Herbert Pugh of Crossville; son and daughter-in-law, Ronnie Sr. and Rintha Pugh; adopted son, Ronnie Pugh Jr., all of Crossville; daughters, Cindy Burgess of Ft. Oglethorpe, GA, Connie Brown and Cheryl Miller, both of Crossville; brothers, Ray Houston of Crossville, Jerry Houston of Knoxville and Jay Houston of Crossville; sister, Myrt Hale of Crossville; grandchildren, Whitney Pugh, Eric and Kari Brown and Kristy Burgess; and great-grandchildren, Joey and Chelsea Pugh and Cassidy Browning.

Roland Lynwood Stinchcomb, 79, of Crossville, passed away Feb. 20, 2004. Funeral services were conducted Feb. 23 at the Hickman Strunk Funeral Home, with Bro. David Meadows officiating. Burial was in the Jellico Creek Cemetery.
Mr. Stinchcomb was born May 17, 1924 in Dobbs Ferry, NY, the son of Roland and Ethel Blevins Stinchcomb.
He was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Coast Guard. He enjoyed model railroads and car racing.
Survivors include his wife, Christine Stinchcomb of Crossville, whom he married in 1948; cousin, Jenny Koenig; and several nieces and nephews.

Mr. McCloud was born Feb. 17, 1959 in Cumberland County, the son of Myrtle Farley McCloud Stringer and the late Lester McCloud.

Vauda Green Yocum, 93, passed away Feb. 1, 2004 at Rexburg Nursing Center in Rexburg, ID. Funeral services were conducted in Tellado, IL at Barkley Funeral Home.
Mrs. Yocum was born Nov. 11, 1910 in Overton County, TN, the daughter of Bransford and Annie Green.
She was a member of Bear Creek Baptist Church of Overton County. As it was more convenient, she attended church and Sunday school at Dotson Chapel Methodist Church for many years. In 1937, she married Wilbert Yocum and moved to Phoenix, AZ.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Betty and Guy Mallo; eight grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and sister and brother-in-law, Ora Vell and Harry Pugh.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Wilbert Yocum; daughter, Evelyn Yocum; and son, Elbert Yocum.

Claude O. Goodin
March 8, 1925 - Feb. 20, 2004
Claude Oscar Goodin, 78, of Fairfield Glade, passed away Feb. 20, 2004. Graveside services will be held at 10:30 a.m. EST Tuesday, March 4, at Knoxville National Cemetery in Knoxville, TN. Max Mayo will officiate.
Mr. Goodin was born March 8, 1925 in Corbin, KY.
He was a member of the Fairfield Glade Methodist Church. He was a truck driver before his retirement.
Survivors include his wife, Audrey Goodin of Fairfield Glade; daughter and son-in-law, June and Richard Stradtman of Cincinnati, OH; grandsons, Shane, Robert and Joey; and sister, Billie Ledington of Corbin, KY.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Leland Goodin.

Richard Robert Gottschalk, 73, of Fairfield Glade, passed away Feb. 23, 2004. A memorial service will be conducted at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church March 6 at 10 a.m. with Father Greg Neuzil officiating.
Mr. Gottschalk was born March 30, 1930 in Detroit, MI, the son of Arthur William and Laura Gertrude Gottschalk.
He served in the U.S. Marine Corps. He earned both BBA and MBA from the University of Michigan. He was the manager of business research for the Metals Division of Union Carbide and Elkem Metals Co. He was a member of the Elks and a Cumberland County Playhouse volunteer.
Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth Laura of Fairfield Glade; children, Richard R. Gottschalk Jr. of Houston, TX, Karen Marie Bruggenthies of Denver, CO, Laurence Glen Gottschalk of Forest Hill, MD and Paula Ellen Rice of Holyoke, MA; and six grandchildren.

Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Vicki and Bob Henley of Monterey; grandsons, Bryan Henley and his wife, Heather, of Lexington, KY and Drew Henley of Monterey; and special niece, Virginia Lee Brown of Cookeville, TN.

Richard Allen Lomax, 56, of Harrison, TN, passed away Feb. 15, 2004 at his home. He was born in Haddonfield, New Jersey. He was a member of Brainerd Hills Baptist Church. He served as a guidance counselor with the Hamilton County Department of Education since 1993. He loved working with children.
He is survived by his wife, Margery F. Lomax; two daughters, Jennifer Mulac and Laura Lomax; one sister, Carol Strohben of Pinehurst, North Carolina; four brothers, Donald Lomax of Bel Air, Maryland; Joseph Lomax of Cape May Court House, New Jersey; David Lomax of York, Pennsylvania; Stephen Lomax of Carney's Point, New Jersey.

Jobyna Pietrogallo
Feb. 29, 2004

Jobyna (Davenport) Pietrogallo, 69, passed away Feb. 29, 2004. A memorial service will be held Thursday, March 4, at 10 a.m. from the chapel of Crossville Memorial Funeral Home. Burial will follow at the Veterans National Cemetery in Chattanooga. Family will receive friends Wednesday, March 3, from 5-8 p.m. at Crossville Memorial.
Mrs. Pietrogallo, a native of Pikeville, moved to Battle Creek, MI during her teens. She graduated from Battle Creek Central High School in 1953. Then, in 1958, she completed her studies at the W.A. Foote Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in Jackson, MI.
Married for nearly 46 years to George Pietrogallo Sr., she has three children: George Jr., Thomas S. and Timothy A. Pietrogallo. Mrs. Pietrogallo raised her family in Battle Creek and was a member of Calvary Baptist Church.
In 1992, she retired from her 34-year career as a registered nurse and nursing supervisor at local hospitals, and an industrial nurse with the Post Cereal Company in Battle Creek. She moved to Crossville in 1992 where she served as a member of the Central Baptist Church.
She was the daughter of W.E. "Sugg" and Z.P. "Skin" Davenport of Pikeville, TN.
Survivors include three brothers, William C. Davenport of South Bend, IN, Sidney Sherman Davenport of Battle Creek, MI and John E. Davenport of Phoenix, AZ.
She is also survived by four grandchildren, Alexander George, Courtney Diana, Samuel David and Joseph Daniel.
She delighted in her daughters-in-law, Diana (Budreski) Pietrogallo of Baltimore, MD and Amy (Hoekstra) Pietrogallo of Kalamazoo, MI.
She was preceded in death by Mary Smith of Pikeville, TN.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to Central Baptist Church.
