Ada V. Gunter, 92, of Crossville,
passed away Aug. 23, 2001. Funeral services were conducted Aug.
25 from the chapel of Burris Funeral Home, with burial in Linary
Cemetery. Phil Jenkins and Mitchell Covington officiated, with
special music by the Linary Church Singers.
Ms. Gunter was born Dec. 30, 1908, in Pickett County, TN, the
daughter of Porter and Sibbie Hill Smith.
She was a homemaker, and a member of Linary Church of Christ.
Survivors include her sons, Keith Gunter of Crossville and James
Gunter of Spring City; daughters, Grace Galyon and Charlene Gunter,
both of Crossville; brother, Lansden Smith of Monroe, TN; 13
grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Pallbearers were Greg Gunter, Barry Gunter, Mick Galyon, Marty
Galyon, Rodney Ray and Marc Galyon.

SR.
John Edward Wachenheim Sr.,
61, of Crossville, passed away Aug. 22, 2001. Funeral services
were conducted Aug. 25 from the chapel of Bilbrey Funeral Home,
with burial in Crossville City Cemetery. The Rev. David Wilkerson
officiated.
Mr. Wachenheim was born Jan. 1, 1940, in Yonkers, NY, the son
of Howard Joseph and Ethel Mae Haight Wachenheim.
He was an electrician with eight years of college, and was an
IBMW member for over 20 years. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of
the Vietnam War, and was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include his sons, John Wachenheim Jr., Frank Wachenheim
and Phillip Wachenheim, all of Crossville, and Jason Wachenheim
of Illinois; daughters, Mildred Bretz of Florida, Heather Wachenheim
and Crystal Wachenheim, both of Crossville, and Casandra Wachenheim
of North Carolina; and seven grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Chris Suber, Steve Rolen, Dallas Owens, Jerry
Phagan, David Hedgecoth and Bob Dyer.

Richard "Dick" West,
79, of Maryville, passed away Aug. 27, 2001. A memorial service
will be held tonight (Aug. 29) at 7 at First United Methodist
Church in Alcoa, with the Rev. Joe Green officiating. A committal
service will be held Thursday, Aug. 30 at 11 a.m. at Fairfield
Glade Community Church.
Mr. West was born March 4, 1922, in Chillicothe, OH.
He was a U.S. Army veteran, and a graduate of Ohio State University.
Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Deborah West and
Lane Gerhardt of Alcoa; son-in-law, William R. Gary of Farragut;
and six grandchildren, Tyson Gerhardt, Whitney Gerhardt, Kali
Gerhardt, Zachary Gerhardt, Michael Gary and Todd Gary.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Norma Jean West; and daughter,
Pamela D. Gary.

Walter "Keith" Gunter,
60, of Crossville, passed away Aug. 26, 2001. Funeral services
were conducted Aug. 29 from the chapel of Burris Funeral Home,

Mr. Gunter was born June 7, 1941, in Crossville, the son of Charlie
and Ada Smith Gunter.
He was a sales representative for Vulcan Materials, and was a
member of the Masonic Lodge.
Survivors include his sons, Barry Gunter of Ringgold, GA, Brad
Gunter of Columbus, OH, Brian Gunter of Raleigh, NC and Greg
Gunter of Rossville, GA; daughter, Pam Gunter of Ann Arbor, MI;

brother, James F. Gunter of Spring City, TN; former wife of 39
years, Bobbie Gunter of Rossville; and seven grandchildren.

Thelma Louise Jameson, 82, of
Fairfield Glade, passed away Aug. 22, 2001. Funeral services

Ms. Jameson was born May 12, 1919, in Alger, MI, the daughter
of James and Mattie Merrick.
She was a homemaker.

Pontiac, MI; daughter and son-in-law, Jackie and Ron LaBarge

Oral Looper, 71, of Monterey,
passed away Aug. 25, 2001. Funeral services will be conducted
today (Tuesday) at 11 a.m. at Faith Outreach Worship Center in
Livingston, with burial in Looper Cemetery in Overton County.
Bro. Oliver England and Bro. Junior Gardner will officiate.
Visitation will be today from 9 a.m. until time of service.
Mr. Looper was born June 13, 1930, the son of Alvin C. and Visa
Lee Phipps Looper.
He was a farmer, and attended Faith Outreach Worship Center.
He was well known as a member of The Looper Trio, which included
his brother and daughter. Later they were known as The Loopers,
after other daughters and sons joined the group.
Survivors include his wife, Gladys White Looper of Monterey;
sons and daughters-in-law, Ferrel and Judy Looper of Livingston
and Freddie and Debbie Looper of Monterey; daughters and sons-in-law,
Barbara and Richard Wilson, Brenda and Johnny Ray and Lisa and
Randy Norris, all of Monterey, and Louise and Freddie Holloway
of Cookeville; brothers and sisters-in-law, Coleman and Marie
Looper of Crossville and Bill and Minnie Looper of Anderson,
IN; sisters, Eulla Looper and Anna Short, both of Monterey; 18

He was preceded in death by his parents, Alvin C. and Visa Lee

James Bruce Padgett, 66, of
Monterey, passed away Aug. 21, 2001. Funeral services were conducted
Aug. 23 from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home in Livingston,
with burial in Sylvester Robbins Cemetery. The Rev. Clayton Padgett
officiated.
Mr. Padgett was born March 11, 1935, in Overton County, TN, the
son of Clifford Clay and Gladys Eula Hurst Padgett.
He was an auto factory worker and farmer, and was of the Baptist
faith.
Survivors include his sons, Clay Padgett and Kevin Padgett, both
of Cookeville, and James Bruce Padgett Jr. of Florida; daughters,
Jama Laurel Maynord of Cookeville; brothers, Freeman Padgett
of Albany, KY, Buryl Padgett of Livingston and Larry Hurst of

Donald W. Wismer, 73, of Crossville,

Mr. Wismer was born Aug. 27, 1927, in Chicago, IL, the son of
William E. and Erna H. Wismer.
He was a credit manager, and a U.S. Army veteran.

Mrs. Adcox was born Aug. 28, 1920, in Harriman, TN, the daughter

Lennie Pearl Beaty, 85, of Anderson,
IN, passed away Aug. 20, 2001. Funeral services were conducted

Mrs. Beaty was born June 30, 1916, in Monroe, TN.
She was employed in the meat department of Eavey's Supermarket
in Anderson, retiring in 1978, and was a member of the Church
of God of Prophecy.

Beaty, and Tom and Betty Beaty, all of Anderson; grandchildren

LOUISA MAY COWAN GALT
Louisa May Cowan Galt passed
away peacefully in the Wharton Nursing Home at Pleasant Hill
at 2:30 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 17, in the presence of her husband
and three nurses. She had increased in weakness day by day for
about three months previous to her death.
A memorial service will be held at Pleasant Hill Community Church
on Friday, Aug. 24 at 10:30 a.m., followed by a simple reception.
During the service, many friends and relatives of Louisa will
give words of remembrance and honor.
She had taught Sunday school in the Pleasant Hill Community Church
from about 1985 to 2000. She also served as an assistant manager
in the Thrift Shop of Cumberland Medical Center from about 1980
to 1994, and did her part in preparing and serving many community
covered-dish dinners.
Earlier, Louisa had been active in the first church that she
joined, the Congregational Church of East Boston. She was active
in youth work and Sunday school in most of the churches and parishes
where her husband, Ralph Martin Galt, served as pastor or missionary.
These parishes included The Church of All Nations in New York
City, the Lamoille Church near Marshalltown from 1939 to 1944,
the Shenrock Parish in Virginia from 1949 to 1954, as a full-time
missionary at the Fort Berthold Indian Reservation from 1954
to 1963, and the Pleasant Hill Community Church from 1979 to
1999.
Besides her educational work, she helped her husband with their
prison ministry in Alabama, and worked to get prisoners free
on parole. From 1978 to 1982, she taught English and led other
activities at Yushan Theological College near Hualien in Taiwan.
She took most of the responsibility for raising sons Lester Paul
Galt, born in Massachusetts in 1943, and Francis Elmer Galt,
born in Oklahoma in 1949.
Survivors include her husband of 61 years, Ralph Martin Galt
of Pleasant Hill, and sons, Lester Galt of New Orleans, LA, and
Francis Galt of Saint Paul, MN.

Robert Stacy Hembree, 30, of
Crab Orchard, passed away Aug. 15, 2001. Funeral services were

Mr. Hembree was born Dec. 21, 1970, in Rockwood, TN, the son
of Virgil "Fuzz" and Rita Nelson Hembree.
He was a miner for the Franklin Limestone Company, and was of
the Protestant faith.
Survivors include his wife, Rolanda Gunter Hembree of Crab Orchard;
daughters, Haley Hembree and Heather Hembree, both of Crab Orchard;
sons, Tyler Hembree and Will Hembree, both of Crab Orchard; mother,
Rita Hembree of Crab Orchard; sister, Mary Gunter of Crossville;

He was preceded in death by his father, Virgil Hembree.

Mr. Hill was born Jan. 10, 1928, in Bollinger, MO, the son of
Lester and Pearl V. Hill.

Mrs. Oakes was born Feb. 16, 1922, in Cumberland County, the
daughter of Robert Burke and Rhinda Smith Hedgecoth.

Janice Hyder of Dalton, GA; and grandchildren, Stacy Miller of

Camilla Lee Thurman Julian,
92, of Crossville, passed away Aug. 20, 2001. Funeral services
were conducted Aug. 22 from the chapel of Bilbrey Funeral Home,
with burial in Crossville City Cemetery. The Rev. Mason Goodman
officiated.
Mrs. Julian was born May 30, 1909, in Evansville, IN, the daughter
of Eugene and Carolyn Giannini Roland.
She was Cumberland County director of the Tennessee Department
of Human Services for many years, until her retirement. She was
organist for First United Methodist Church of Crossville for
over 30 years, was a lifelong member of the Order of the Eastern
Star, and a member of the Heritage Society of the University
of Tennessee.
Survivors include her daughter, Carolyn Crabtree Cook of Eula,
TX; son and daughter-in-law, Gene and Lynda Thurman of Harriman,
TN; sister, Isabel Smith of Crossville; grandsons and granddaughters-in-law,
Robert and Cheryl Crabtree of Eula, TX, Trent and Francie Thurman
of Memphis, TN, and Todd Thurman of Kingston, TN; great-grandsons,
Robbie Crabtree and Blake Crabtree, both of Eula, TX, and Sam
Thurman and Ben Thurman, both of Memphis; special niece and nephew-in-law,
Drucilla and Leon Smith of Crossville; and several nieces and
nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Eugene and Carolyn
Roland; husbands, I.N. "Buck" Thurman and Olin C. Julian;

Willie Lee Roach, 84, of Sparta,
passed away Aug. 21, 2001. Funeral services will be conducted
today at 11 a.m. from the chapel of Hunter Funeral Home in Sparta,
with burial in New Bon Air Cemetery. Edwin Webb and Kenneth Peters
will officiate.
Mr. Roach was born June 26, 1917, in Cumberland County, the son
of Huse and Notie Jane Baker Roach.
He was a retired carpenter. He was a World War II veteran, and
a life member of the Disabled American Veterans and the American
Legion.
Survivors include his wife, Beatrice Roach of Sparta; daughters
and sons-in-law, Pat and Kenneth Peters of Sparta and Sue and
Tom Little of Charlotte, NC; sisters and brother-in-law, Gladys
Lawson of Glade Creek, TN, and Lora May and John Simpson of Mobile,
AL; brother, Gerald Roach of Sparta; grandchildren, Penny, Tammy,
Kenny, Timmy and Stephen; and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Huse and Notie Jane

Mr. Sells was born Oct. 20, 1940, in Cumberland County, the son

Dr. David H. Harry, 63, of Fairfield
Glade, passed away Aug. 15, 2001. A memorial service will be

Dr. Harry was born April 2, 1938, in Brookville, OH.
He was a professor of engineering at General Motors Institute,
and at retirement was department head of mechanical engineering,
later professor emeritus. In his retirement, Dr. Harry and his
wife, Norita, were active participants at the Fairfield Glade
Tennis Center.

Star, and was of the Baptist faith.

daughter of Lawson Warren and Grace Amanda Wyrick Martin.
She was a registered nurse, and served in the U.S. Army as a
second lieutenant during World War II.

and nieces and nephews, Jerrie Sue Davis, Pam Lawson, Tracy Bryant,
Carol Martin, Billy Martin II, Robert Martin and Robert Hickle.

Charles S. Meeks, 85, of Lake
Tansi Village, passed away Aug. 8, 2001. A private memorial service

Mr. Meeks was born Jan. 23, 1916, in Washington, PA, and had
been a resident of Lake Tansi for 23 years.
He was retired from U.S. Pipe in Chattanooga, and had been a
boilermaker for 30 years.

Thomas Joseph Dolohanty, 71,
of Fairfield Glade, passed away Aug. 5, 2001. A funeral Mass
was held Aug. 9 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church.
Mr. Dolohanty was born Jan. 29, 1930, in Mt. Horeb, WI, the son
of Thomas P. and Mary Statz Dolohanty.
He graduated from the University of Wisconsin with a bachelor's
degree in business administration. He was employed by the Wisconsin
State Board of Vocational Adult Education, until he left to serve
with the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He worked as an executive
at Whirlpool Corporation in Findlay, OH, St. Joseph, MI and LaPorte,
IN, and retired after 31 years of dedicated service.
He was an active member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church,
and was first vice president of the Lions Club. He was also a
member of the Friars Golf League.
Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Mary Rosecky Dolohanty
of Fenimore, WI; sons and daughters-in-law, Michael and Cheryl
Dolohanty of Newbury, OH, Patrick and Carole Dolohanty of Scottsdale,

U.S. Navy as a yeoman third class.

Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Opal Neely Bilbrey of

NANCY ELIZABETH HAYES
Nancy Elizabeth Hayes, infant
daughter of Leonard and Jennifer Hayes of Knoxville, passed away
Aug. 2, 2001. Funeral services were conducted Aug. 4 at Lynnhurst
Cemetery in Knoxville.
Nancy was born July 27, 2001, in Knoxville.
In addition to her parents, survivors include her older brother,
Jake Hayes; grandparents, George and Anne Brown and Leonard Hayes
Sr.; great-grandparents, Jack and Frances Newman; and several
aunts, uncles and cousins.
Memorials may be made to Children's Hospital of East Tennessee.

LONNIE DALE LEE
Lonnie Dale Lee, 42, of Crab
Orchard, passed away July 29, 2001. Funeral services were conducted
Aug. 1 from the chapel of Bilbrey Funeral Home, with Bro. Thomas
Hale officiating. Graveside committal was Aug. 2 at Haley's Grove
Cemetery.
Mr. Lee was born Feb. 11, 1959, in Cumberland County, the son
of Frank and Rosella Smith Lee.
He was a laborer, and a member of the Church of God.
Survivors include his parents, Frank and Rosella Lee of Crab
Orchard; son, Justin Lee of Crossville; brother, Bobby Lee, Ed
Lee and Paul Lee, all of Crossville; brother and sister-in-law,
Larry and Rhonda Lee of Crab Orchard; sisters, Mary Lee and Linda
Houston, both of Crossville; and sister and brother-in-law, Barbara
and Gene Cravens of Crossville.

THOMAS FRANKLIN SAPP
Thomas Franklin Sapp, 68, of
Pikeville, passed away July 29, 2001. Funeral services were conducted
Aug. 1 at First Baptist Church of Pikeville, with burial in Brushy
Cemetery. Mr. Sapp's sons-in-law, The Rev. David Culver, the
Rev. Doyle M. Ashburn and Deacon Gary Burton, and his pastor,
the Rev. Jimmy Williams, officiated.
Mr. Sapp was born Oct. 10, 1932, in Pikeville, the son of Bill
and Dixie Sapp.
After graduating from Bledsoe County High School in 1952, he
lived several years in Cleveland, OH, before returning to Pikeville.
He was a retired tool and die maker, and was a longtime member
of First Baptist Church of Pikeville, where he served as a deacon.
Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Irene Stewart Sapp; daughters
and sons-in-law, Carolyn and David Culver of Clarks Summit, PA,
and Janet and Doyle M. Ashburn, and Ruth and Gary Burton, all
of Pikeville; son and daughter-in-law, Bill and Joy Sapp of Crossville;
sisters, Betty Griffin of Ringgold, GA, Jeanelle Cunningham of
Chattanooga and Joanne Turner of Pikeville; brother, James Sapp
of Newport, TN; grandchildren, Jeanelle Culver, Jon Culver, Joanna
Culver, Jaclyn Culver, Lindsay Blackstone, Matthew Ashburn, Morgan
Ashburn, Billy Jack Sapp, Benjamin Sapp, Bob Sapp, Braiden Sapp,
Bethany Burton and Jenna Burton; and many nieces, nephews and
cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Dixie Sapp;
sister, Frances Walker; and brothers, Edward Sapp, Leftric "Billy"
Sapp and Marshall Sapp.

CLIFFORD LEE KING
Clifford Lee King, 67, of Crawford,
TN, passed away Aug. 2, 2001. Funeral services were conducted
Aug. 4 at Grace Baptist Church in Alpine, TN, with burial in
New Walnut Grove Cemetery in Livingston, TN. John Copeland officiated.
Mr. King was born July 28, 1934, in Wartburg, TN, the son of
Riley Washington and Edna Grace King.
He was an assembler, retired from New York Blower in Laport,
IN, and a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War.
Survivors include his wife, Geraldine King of Crawford; sons,
Clifford Wayne King of Lafayette, TN, James Riley King of Walkerton,
IN, Darrell Wade King of Livingston and Tony Allen King of Laport;
daughters, Kathleen Grace William of Union Mills, IN, and Melissa
Dawn Bon Davrnt of Elkhart, IN; brother, Earl King of Herman,
TN; sister, Mary Leslie of Carmel, IN; 15 grandchildren; two
great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Riley Washington and
Edna Grace King; and brother, Frank William King.

Robert Wesley Sherrill, 64,
of Crossville, passed away July 31, 2001. Funeral services were
conducted Aug. 2 from the chapel of Bilbrey Funeral Home, with
burial in Haley's Grove Cemetery. Bro. Ryan Dick officiated.
Mr. Sherrill was born March 3, 1937, in Cumberland County, the
son of Hullen and Bricie Randolph Sherrill.
He was a rock quarry worker, and of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include his sister, Mildred DeRossett of Crossville;
and special friend, Irene Howell of Sparta.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Reva Sherrill; and
brothers, Paul Sherrill, Jack Sherrill, Buster Sherrill, Ray
Sherrill and Joe Lee Sherrill.
Pallbearers were Bobby DeRossett, Rick DeRossett, Jerry DeRossett,
Joey Sherrill, Jimmy Edwards, Jarrod Brown and Tim DeRossett.

Eugene "Gene" Davis
Tollett, 76, of Crab Orchard, passed away July 29, 2001. Funeral
services were conducted Aug. 1 from the chapel of Bilbrey Funeral
Home, with burial in Tollett's Chapel Cemetery. Bro. T.J. Bennett
officiated, with special music by Deloy and Sybil Brown, Mandy
Barnett and the Tollett sisters and brothers.
Mr. Tollett was born Dec. 20, 1924, in Cumberland County, the
son of Samuel Thomas and Annie Violet Barnwell Tollett.
He was a pipefitter for TVA, and a member of Tollett's Chapel
United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Ester Hedgecoth Tollett of Crab Orchard;
sons and daughters-in-law, Jackie and Carla Tollett, Jeff and
Helene Tollett, Jerry and Frances Tollett, and Joey and Christy
Tollett, all of Crossville; daughters and sons-in-law, Jeannie
and Andy Goss, and Janice and Aaron Cox, all of Crossville, and
Judy and Scott Wakefield of Monterey; grandchildren, Jody Tollett,
Andy Goss and his wife Misty, Joseph Goss and his wife Andrea,

ROBERT ELLSWORTH BROWN
Robert Ellsworth Brown, 67, of Fairfield Glade, passed away July
28, 2001.
Mr. Brown was born Feb. 2, 1934, in Galesburg, IL, the son of
Hubert William and Shirley Tubbs Brown.
He attended Rolla Missouri School of Mines and Metallurgy for
one year, graduated from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point,
NY in 1956 and received a master's degree from the University
of Southern California. He served as a test pilot and a major
in the U.S. Air Force for 12 1/2 years. He worked as a director
of quality assurance at Allison Gas Turbine Division of General
Motors for 22 years, and retired in 1990 to Fairfield Glade.
Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Patsy Weihl Brown of
Fairfield Glade; daughters and sons-in-law, Stephanie and Michael
Sexton of Carmel, IN, and Susan and Dave Parish of Indianapolis,
IN; sons and daughters-in-law, Hubert William III and Ginger
Brown of Carmel, and David and Julie Brown of Pittsboro, IN;
and 10 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father, Hubert William Brown;
mother, Shirley Tubbs Brown; and grandson, Matthew David Parish.
The family requests memorials be made to Cumberland Medical Center's
Cardiac Rehabilitation Unit, The Leukemia Foundation or the Tennessee
charity of donor's choice.

Sheila Aline Stout, 86, of Crossville, passed away July 31, 2001.
Funeral services will be conducted today at 2 p.m. at Crossville
Memorial Funeral Home & Crematory Inc., with burial in Green
Acres Memory Gardens. Vern Daugherty will officiate.
Mrs. Stout was born May 13, 1915, in Overton County, TN, the
daughter of George and Julia Cooper.
She was a homemaker.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Faye and David
Watson; sons and daughters-in-law, Charles and Nelda Stout, and
David Lee and Anna Ruth Stout; nine grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren;
and one great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Julia Cooper;
husband, Alvin Thurston Stout; daughter, Anna Sue Fann; and son,
Alvin E. "Gene" Stout.
Pallbearers are Randy Alley, Mike Stout, Brian Stout, David Watson
Jr., Jimmy Cole and David Smith. Honorary pallbearers are Jim
Hyder, Fred Stout, Glen Cooper, Raymond Cooper, Frankie Cooper,

Mary Elizabeth Woolridge, 67, of Crossville, passed away July
26, 2001. Funeral services were conducted July 28 at North Sparta
Church of God, with burial in New Bon Air Cemetery. Bro. Jimmy
Lindsey and Bro. Mike Ritzman officiated.
Mrs. Woolridge was born Dec. 25, 1933, in Pleasant Hill, TN,
the daughter of William and Dolly Hodge Parks.
She was a homemaker, and a member of the Church of God.
Survivors include her husband, Donald Woolridge Sr. of Crossville;
daughters, Diana Fox and Teresa Stottlemire, both of Crossville,
Sharon Woolridge of Cleveland, OH, and Lisa Dodson of Sparta;
sons, Donald Woolridge Jr. of Sparta and Chuck Woolridge of Cleveland,
OH; brother, Paul Parks of Bristol, VA; and several grandchildren,
great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Dolly Parks;
sisters, Josephine Rogers and Beatrice Lynch; and brothers, James
Parks and Dee Parks.

Virgil Harvey Branstetter, 71, of Crossville, passed away July
24, 2001. Funeral services were conducted July 25 from the chapel
of Burris Funeral Home, and graveside services were July 26 at
Green Acres Memory Gardens. Robert Lawrence and Mark Hall officiated,
with special music by Deliverance and Roberta Schubert.
Mr. Branstetter was born Feb. 10, 1930, in Morgan County, TN,
the son of Lonnie and Josie Cox Branstetter.
He was a truck driver, and a member of Isoline Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Telia Branstetter of Crossville;
son, Dennis Branstetter of Crossville; daughters, Lucy Bailey
and Lorraine Simmons, both of Crossville, and Rose Heflin of
Carthage, TN; sisters, Juanita Sevier and Georgia Locke, both
of Crossville; nine grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Justin Heflin, Eddie Simmons, Denny Branstetter,
Jason Sisco, Eugene Adams, Kevin Phillips and Greg Brinkley.

CARRIE BELL BURGESS
Carrie Bell Burgess, 83, of Crossville, passed away July 21,
2001. Funeral services were conducted July 25 from the chapel
of Burris Funeral Home, with burial in Davis Cemetery. Kevin
Burgess officiated.
Ms. Burgess was born Nov. 26, 1917, in Cumberland County, the
daughter of James and Millie Smith Stone.
She was a homemaker, and of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Bill and Barbara
Burgess of Crossville; daughter, Charlotte Kilby of Elyria, OH;
brothers, Eston Stone and Robert Stone, both of Crossville; sisters,
Mary Lou Woody and Pearl Selby, both of Crossville, Marie Fields
of Norwood, OH, and Eliza Fields of Elyria, OH; eight grandchildren;
and 12 great-grandchildren.

EARL ANDREW CRUEY
Earl Andrew Cruey, 72, of Crossville, passed away July 30, 2001.
Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, Aug. 2 at 8 p.m.
at Click Funeral Home Farragut Chapel, with the Rev. Delbert
Raines officiating. Graveside services will be Friday, Aug. 3
at Highland Memorial Cemetery.
Visitation will be Thursday from 6 to 7:45 p.m. at the funeral
home.
Mr. Cruey was born Sept. 14, 1928, in Green County, TN, the son
of Jess and Dorothy Jones Cruey.
He was retired from the Union Carbide Y-12 plant, and was a member
of Calvary Baptist Church in Bledsoe County, TN. He was a veteran
of the U.S. Navy.
Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Anna Hu Hickey Cruey;
daughters and sons-in-law, Denise and Carl May of Kingston, TN,
and Luanna and Fred Dycus of Farragut, TN; son and daughter-in-law,
Andy and Suzanne Cruey of Lenoir City, TN; brother and sister-in-law,
Dewey E. and Dolores Cruey of Lenoir City; sisters and brother-in-law,
Shirley Moore of Crossville and Joyce and Grady Nelson of Newport,
TN; aunts, Mae Wilson and Virgie Belcher, both of Knoxville,
and Anna Mae Baker of Luttrell, TN; grandchildren, Della Lyles
and her husband Donald, Matthew May, Sarah May, Houston Dycus
and Jessica Dycus; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jess and Dorothy Jones
Cruey.

John Henry Farr, 77, of Crossville, passed away July 30, 2001.
Funeral services will be conducted today at 3 p.m. at Crossville
Memorial Funeral Home & Crematory Inc., with burial in Crossville
City Cemetery. Robert Melton will officiate, with special music
by Johnny Moore.
Mr. Farr was born April 12, 1924, in Careyville, TN, the son
of Joseph and Pearl Farr.
He was an electrician for over 50 years. He was a member of First
Baptist Church and a Mason.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Jeanetta Edmonds Farr
of Crossville; sons, P. Eugene Farr of Grafton, OH, and William
Blaine Farr of Crossville; daughter, Beverly D. Rhoads of Medina,
OH; sister, Reba Neal of Coalfield, TN; brother, Jim Farr of
Coalfield; 13 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Pearl Farr;
daughter, Jeanetta Farr; and son, John Richard Farr.
Pallbearers were Mr. Farr's grandsons.
