 Ms. Gunter was born Dec. 30, 1908, in Pickett County, TN, the
            daughter of Porter and Sibbie Hill Smith.
 She was a homemaker, and a member of Linary Church of Christ.
 Survivors include her sons, Keith Gunter of Crossville and James
            Gunter of Spring City; daughters, Grace Galyon and Charlene Gunter,
            both of Crossville; brother, Lansden Smith of Monroe, TN; 13
            grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

            SR.John Edward Wachenheim Sr.,
            61, of Crossville, passed away Aug. 22, 2001. Funeral services
            were conducted Aug. 25 from the chapel of Bilbrey Funeral Home,
            with burial in Crossville City Cemetery. The Rev. David Wilkerson
            officiated.
 Mr. Wachenheim was born Jan. 1, 1940, in Yonkers, NY, the son
            of Howard Joseph and Ethel Mae Haight Wachenheim.
 He was an electrician with eight years of college, and was an
            IBMW member for over 20 years. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of
            the Vietnam War, and was of the Baptist faith.
 Survivors include his sons, John Wachenheim Jr., Frank Wachenheim
            and Phillip Wachenheim, all of Crossville, and Jason Wachenheim
            of Illinois; daughters, Mildred Bretz of Florida, Heather Wachenheim
            and Crystal Wachenheim, both of Crossville, and Casandra Wachenheim
            of North Carolina; and seven grandchildren.

            Phagan, David Hedgecoth and Bob Dyer.

            79, of Maryville, passed away Aug. 27, 2001. A memorial service
            will be held tonight (Aug. 29) at 7 at First United Methodist
            Church in Alcoa, with the Rev. Joe Green officiating. A committal
            service will be held Thursday, Aug. 30 at 11 a.m. at Fairfield
            Glade Community Church.
 Mr. West was born March 4, 1922, in Chillicothe, OH.
 He was a U.S. Army veteran, and a graduate of Ohio State University.
 Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Deborah West and
            Lane Gerhardt of Alcoa; son-in-law, William R. Gary of Farragut;
            and six grandchildren, Tyson Gerhardt, Whitney Gerhardt, Kali
            Gerhardt, Zachary Gerhardt, Michael Gary and Todd Gary.
 He was preceded in death by his wife, Norma Jean West; and daughter,
            Pamela D. Gary.

 Mr. Gunter was born June 7, 1941, in Crossville, the son of Charlie

 Mr. Looper was born June 13, 1930, the son of Alvin C. and Visa
            Lee Phipps Looper.

            He was well known as a member of The Looper Trio, which included
            his brother and daughter. Later they were known as The Loopers,
            after other daughters and sons joined the group.
 Survivors include his wife, Gladys White Looper of Monterey;
            sons and daughters-in-law, Ferrel and Judy Looper of Livingston
            and Freddie and Debbie Looper of Monterey; daughters and sons-in-law,

 Mr. Padgett was born March 11, 1935, in Overton County, TN, the

 He was an auto factory worker and farmer, and was of the Baptist

 Mrs. Beaty was born June 30, 1916, in Monroe, TN.

 LOUISA MAY COWAN GALTLouisa May Cowan Galt passed
            away peacefully in the Wharton Nursing Home at Pleasant Hill
            at 2:30 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 17, in the presence of her husband
            and three nurses. She had increased in weakness day by day for
            about three months previous to her death.
 A memorial service will be held at Pleasant Hill Community Church
            on Friday, Aug. 24 at 10:30 a.m., followed by a simple reception.
            During the service, many friends and relatives of Louisa will
            give words of remembrance and honor.
 She had taught Sunday school in the Pleasant Hill Community Church
            from about 1985 to 2000. She also served as an assistant manager
            in the Thrift Shop of Cumberland Medical Center from about 1980
            to 1994, and did her part in preparing and serving many community
            covered-dish dinners.
 Earlier, Louisa had been active in the first church that she
            joined, the Congregational Church of East Boston. She was active
            in youth work and Sunday school in most of the churches and parishes
            where her husband, Ralph Martin Galt, served as pastor or missionary.
            These parishes included The Church of All Nations in New York
            City, the Lamoille Church near Marshalltown from 1939 to 1944,
            the Shenrock Parish in Virginia from 1949 to 1954, as a full-time
            missionary at the Fort Berthold Indian Reservation from 1954
            to 1963, and the Pleasant Hill Community Church from 1979 to
            1999.
 Besides her educational work, she helped her husband with their
            prison ministry in Alabama, and worked to get prisoners free
            on parole. From 1978 to 1982, she taught English and led other
            activities at Yushan Theological College near Hualien in Taiwan.
 She took most of the responsibility for raising sons Lester Paul
            Galt, born in Massachusetts in 1943, and Francis Elmer Galt,
            born in Oklahoma in 1949.
 Survivors include her husband of 61 years, Ralph Martin Galt
            of Pleasant Hill, and sons, Lester Galt of New Orleans, LA, and
            Francis Galt of Saint Paul, MN.

 Mr. Hembree was born Dec. 21, 1970, in Rockwood, TN, the son

            the Protestant faith.

 CAMILLA LEE THURMAN JULIANCamilla Lee Thurman Julian,
            92, of Crossville, passed away Aug. 20, 2001. Funeral services

            with burial in Crossville City Cemetery. The Rev. Mason Goodman
            officiated.
 Mrs. Julian was born May 30, 1909, in Evansville, IN, the daughter
            of Eugene and Carolyn Giannini Roland.
 She was Cumberland County director of the Tennessee Department
            of Human Services for many years, until her retirement. She was
            organist for First United Methodist Church of Crossville for
            over 30 years, was a lifelong member of the Order of the Eastern
            Star, and a member of the Heritage Society of the University
            of Tennessee.
 Survivors include her daughter, Carolyn Crabtree Cook of Eula,
            TX; son and daughter-in-law, Gene and Lynda Thurman of Harriman,
            TN; sister, Isabel Smith of Crossville; grandsons and granddaughters-in-law,
            Robert and Cheryl Crabtree of Eula, TX, Trent and Francie Thurman
            of Memphis, TN, and Todd Thurman of Kingston, TN; great-grandsons,
            Robbie Crabtree and Blake Crabtree, both of Eula, TX, and Sam
            Thurman and Ben Thurman, both of Memphis; special niece and nephew-in-law,
            Drucilla and Leon Smith of Crossville; and several nieces and
            nephews.
 She was preceded in death by her parents, Eugene and Carolyn

 Mr. Roach was born June 26, 1917, in Cumberland County, the son

 He was a retired carpenter. He was a World War II veteran, and
            a life member of the Disabled American Veterans and the American
            Legion.

            Tom Little of Charlotte, NC; sisters and brother-in-law, Gladys

            of Arthur Roy and Ollie Marie Hedgecoth Sells.
 He was a construction worker, and was a U.S. Army veteran of
            the Vietnam War.

            Sherry Campbell of Manchester, TN; sons, Tony Sells of Tullahoma,
            TN, and Stephen Sells of Manchester; brother, Gilbert Sells of

 He was a professor of engineering at General Motors Institute,
            and at retirement was department head of mechanical engineering,

            Tennis Center.

            daughter of Lawson Warren and Grace Amanda Wyrick Martin.
 She was a registered nurse, and served in the U.S. Army as a
            second lieutenant during World War II.

 He was retired from U.S. Pipe in Chattanooga, and had been a

 THOMAS JOSEPH DOLOHANTYThomas Joseph Dolohanty, 71,
            of Fairfield Glade, passed away Aug. 5, 2001. A funeral Mass
            was held Aug. 9 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church.
 Mr. Dolohanty was born Jan. 29, 1930, in Mt. Horeb, WI, the son
            of Thomas P. and Mary Statz Dolohanty.
 He graduated from the University of Wisconsin with a bachelor's
            degree in business administration. He was employed by the Wisconsin
            State Board of Vocational Adult Education, until he left to serve
            with the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He worked as an executive
            at Whirlpool Corporation in Findlay, OH, St. Joseph, MI and LaPorte,
            IN, and retired after 31 years of dedicated service.
 He was an active member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church,
            and was first vice president of the Lions Club. He was also a
            member of the Friars Golf League.
 Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Mary Rosecky Dolohanty
            of Fenimore, WI; sons and daughters-in-law, Michael and Cheryl
            Dolohanty of Newbury, OH, Patrick and Carole Dolohanty of Scottsdale,

            U.S. Navy as a yeoman third class.

 Mr. Farmer was born June 26, 1922, in Cumberland County, the
            son of Curtis and Lee Ann Elmore Farmer.
 He was a carpenter, and a member of Rinnie Baptist Church. He
            was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
 Survivors include his wife, Macel Pearl Lowe Farmer of Crossville;
            daughters and sons-in-law, Phyllis and Conald Stover, Sandra
            Swallows, and Kay and Jackie Cox, all of Crossville; sons and
            daughter-in-law, Stanley and Gisela Farmer, Keith Farmer and
            Michael Farmer, all of Crossville; sister, Effie Horn of Crossville;
            brother, Chester Farmer of Knoxville; 15 grandchildren; and 10
            great-grandchildren.
 He was preceded in death by his parents, Curtis and Lee Ann Farmer;

 NANCY ELIZABETH HAYESNancy Elizabeth Hayes, infant
            daughter of Leonard and Jennifer Hayes of Knoxville, passed away
            Aug. 2, 2001. Funeral services were conducted Aug. 4 at Lynnhurst
            Cemetery in Knoxville.
 Nancy was born July 27, 2001, in Knoxville.
 In addition to her parents, survivors include her older brother,
            Jake Hayes; grandparents, George and Anne Brown and Leonard Hayes
            Sr.; great-grandparents, Jack and Frances Newman; and several
            aunts, uncles and cousins.

 LONNIE DALE LEELonnie Dale Lee, 42, of Crab
            Orchard, passed away July 29, 2001. Funeral services were conducted

            Cemetery.
 Mr. Lee was born Feb. 11, 1959, in Cumberland County, the son
            of Frank and Rosella Smith Lee.

 THOMAS FRANKLIN SAPPThomas Franklin Sapp, 68, of
            Pikeville, passed away July 29, 2001. Funeral services were conducted
            Aug. 1 at First Baptist Church of Pikeville, with burial in Brushy
            Cemetery. Mr. Sapp's sons-in-law, The Rev. David Culver, the
            Rev. Doyle M. Ashburn and Deacon Gary Burton, and his pastor,
            the Rev. Jimmy Williams, officiated.
 Mr. Sapp was born Oct. 10, 1932, in Pikeville, the son of Bill
            and Dixie Sapp.
 After graduating from Bledsoe County High School in 1952, he
            lived several years in Cleveland, OH, before returning to Pikeville.
            He was a retired tool and die maker, and was a longtime member
            of First Baptist Church of Pikeville, where he served as a deacon.
 Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Irene Stewart Sapp; daughters
            and sons-in-law, Carolyn and David Culver of Clarks Summit, PA,
            and Janet and Doyle M. Ashburn, and Ruth and Gary Burton, all
            of Pikeville; son and daughter-in-law, Bill and Joy Sapp of Crossville;
            sisters, Betty Griffin of Ringgold, GA, Jeanelle Cunningham of
            Chattanooga and Joanne Turner of Pikeville; brother, James Sapp
            of Newport, TN; grandchildren, Jeanelle Culver, Jon Culver, Joanna
            Culver, Jaclyn Culver, Lindsay Blackstone, Matthew Ashburn, Morgan

 Mr. King was born July 28, 1934, in Wartburg, TN, the son of

            IN, and a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War.

 Mr. Sherrill was born March 3, 1937, in Cumberland County, the

 He was a pipefitter for TVA, and a member of Tollett's Chapel
            United Methodist Church.

 ROBERT ELLSWORTH BROWNRobert Ellsworth Brown, 67, of Fairfield Glade, passed away July
            28, 2001.
 Mr. Brown was born Feb. 2, 1934, in Galesburg, IL, the son of
            Hubert William and Shirley Tubbs Brown.
 He attended Rolla Missouri School of Mines and Metallurgy for
            one year, graduated from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point,
            NY in 1956 and received a master's degree from the University
            of Southern California. He served as a test pilot and a major
            in the U.S. Air Force for 12 1/2 years. He worked as a director
            of quality assurance at Allison Gas Turbine Division of General
            Motors for 22 years, and retired in 1990 to Fairfield Glade.
 Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Patsy Weihl Brown of
            Fairfield Glade; daughters and sons-in-law, Stephanie and Michael
            Sexton of Carmel, IN, and Susan and Dave Parish of Indianapolis,
            IN; sons and daughters-in-law, Hubert William III and Ginger
            Brown of Carmel, and David and Julie Brown of Pittsboro, IN;
            and 10 grandchildren.
 He was preceded in death by his father, Hubert William Brown;
            mother, Shirley Tubbs Brown; and grandson, Matthew David Parish.

            Cardiac Rehabilitation Unit, The Leukemia Foundation or the Tennessee

 Mrs. Stout was born May 13, 1915, in Overton County, TN, the
            daughter of George and Julia Cooper.
 She was a homemaker.
 Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Faye and David
            Watson; sons and daughters-in-law, Charles and Nelda Stout, and
            David Lee and Anna Ruth Stout; nine grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren;
            and one great-great-grandchild.
 She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Julia Cooper;
            husband, Alvin Thurston Stout; daughter, Anna Sue Fann; and son,
            Alvin E. "Gene" Stout.

 Mrs. Woolridge was born Dec. 25, 1933, in Pleasant Hill, TN,
            the daughter of William and Dolly Hodge Parks.
 She was a homemaker, and a member of the Church of God.
 Survivors include her husband, Donald Woolridge Sr. of Crossville;
            daughters, Diana Fox and Teresa Stottlemire, both of Crossville,
            Sharon Woolridge of Cleveland, OH, and Lisa Dodson of Sparta;

 Mr. Branstetter was born Feb. 10, 1930, in Morgan County, TN,
            the son of Lonnie and Josie Cox Branstetter.
 He was a truck driver, and a member of Isoline Baptist Church.
 Survivors include his wife, Telia Branstetter of Crossville;
            son, Dennis Branstetter of Crossville; daughters, Lucy Bailey
            and Lorraine Simmons, both of Crossville, and Rose Heflin of
            Carthage, TN; sisters, Juanita Sevier and Georgia Locke, both
            of Crossville; nine grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

 Carrie Bell Burgess, 83, of Crossville, passed away July 21,
            2001. Funeral services were conducted July 25 from the chapel
            of Burris Funeral Home, with burial in Davis Cemetery. Kevin

 Ms. Burgess was born Nov. 26, 1917, in Cumberland County, the
            daughter of James and Millie Smith Stone.
 She was a homemaker, and of the Baptist faith.
 Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Bill and Barbara
            Burgess of Crossville; daughter, Charlotte Kilby of Elyria, OH;
            brothers, Eston Stone and Robert Stone, both of Crossville; sisters,

            and 12 great-grandchildren.

            at Highland Memorial Cemetery.

 Mr. Cruey was born Sept. 14, 1928, in Green County, TN, the son
            of Jess and Dorothy Jones Cruey.
 He was retired from the Union Carbide Y-12 plant, and was a member
            of Calvary Baptist Church in Bledsoe County, TN. He was a veteran
            of the U.S. Navy.
 Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Anna Hu Hickey Cruey;
            daughters and sons-in-law, Denise and Carl May of Kingston, TN,
            and Luanna and Fred Dycus of Farragut, TN; son and daughter-in-law,
            Andy and Suzanne Cruey of Lenoir City, TN; brother and sister-in-law,
            Dewey E. and Dolores Cruey of Lenoir City; sisters and brother-in-law,
            Shirley Moore of Crossville and Joyce and Grady Nelson of Newport,
            TN; aunts, Mae Wilson and Virgie Belcher, both of Knoxville,
            and Anna Mae Baker of Luttrell, TN; grandchildren, Della Lyles
            and her husband Donald, Matthew May, Sarah May, Houston Dycus
            and Jessica Dycus; and several nieces and nephews.
 He was preceded in death by his parents, Jess and Dorothy Jones
            Cruey.

 Mr. Farr was born April 12, 1924, in Careyville, TN, the son
            of Joseph and Pearl Farr.
 He was an electrician for over 50 years. He was a member of First
            Baptist Church and a Mason.
 Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Jeanetta Edmonds Farr
            of Crossville; sons, P. Eugene Farr of Grafton, OH, and William
            Blaine Farr of Crossville; daughter, Beverly D. Rhoads of Medina,
            OH; sister, Reba Neal of Coalfield, TN; brother, Jim Farr of
            Coalfield; 13 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
 He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Pearl Farr;
            daughter, Jeanetta Farr; and son, John Richard Farr.
