SAMUEL HENRY BRYANT
Samuel Henry Bryant, 73, of Crossville, passed away May 20, 2000. Funeral services were conducted May 22 from the chapel of Burris Funeral Home, with burial in Crossville City Cemetery. David Rowan and Nick Ball officiated.
Mr. Bryant was born Oct. 13, 1926, in Cumberland County, the son of George and Maggie Gist Bryant.
He was a retired construction equipment operator with TVA, and he served with the U.S. Army.
Survivors include his wife, Joyce Bryant of Crossville; sons, Gary Bryant and Sammy Bryant, both of Crossville; sisters, Ruth Allen and Geneva Hajny, both of Crossville, and Opal Stringer of Cookeville, TN; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Joey Bryant, Lane Madewell, Fred Wilson, Don Buckner, Freddie Stringer and Steve Pugh.

CALVIN VERLIN EDMONDS
Calvin Verlin Edmonds, 57, of Sparta, TN, passed away May 19, 2000. Funeral services were conducted May 21 from the chapel of Bilbrey Funeral Home, with burial in Green Acres Memory Gardens. Bro. Jack Chadwell officiated, with special music by the Church of Christ Singers.
Mr. Edmonds was born May 21, 1942, in Cumberland County, the son of Jerry B. Edmonds Sr. and Glendon Stewman Edmonds.
He was an employee of Crossville Rubber Co., and he was a member of the Church of Christ.
Survivors include his wife, Janette Crawford Edmonds; son, Calvin Glenn Edmonds of Nashville, TN; daughters, Jan Lowe, Jerri Crawford, Janie Thomas and Jena Edmonds, all of Crossville; parents, Glendon and Jerry Edmonds Sr. of Crossville; sisters, Mary Ruth Braddock of Crossville and Fay Nelson of Versailles, KY; and 15 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Jerry Baxter Edmonds Jr.
Pallbearers were Thomas Shoemaker, Thomas Crawford, Travis Reeves, Mike Davis, Eddie Rackley and Harlice Fields.

RUTH HEWITT
Ruth Hewitt, 89, of Pleasant Hill, passed away May 21, 2000, at Wharton Nursing Home in Pleasant Hill.
Ms. Hewitt was born Aug. 6, 1910, in Lamont, IL. She was a homemaker.
Survivors include her daughter, Carol White of Fairfield Glade; son and daughter-in-law, James and Linda Hewitt of Fairfield Glade; sister, Lillian Vedok of Indiana; seven grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

LECIL SMITH
Lecil Smith, 92, of Crossville, passed away May 19, 2000. Funeral services were conducted May 21 from the chapel of Burris Funeral Home, with burial in Green Acres Memory Gardens. Carson Whittaker and Delmar McCowen officiated.
Mr. Smith was born May 17, 1908, in Fentress County, the son of Marion B. and Tennie Cravens Smith.
He was a retired truck driver, and was a member of Crossville First Freewill Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Lela Whittenburg Smith; daughters, Carolyn Smith and June Howard, both of Crossville; son, L.E. "Butch" Smith of Crossville; brother, Cecil Smith of High Point, NC; half-brothers, James Disney of Knoxville, TN, and Doug Smith of Georgia; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Marion and Tennie Smith.
Pallbearers were Eric Smith, Paul Whittenburg, Odell Whittenburg, Freddie Whittenburg, Jerry Whitson, Jimmy Cook, Robert Hayes and Scotty Howard.

ROBERT ROLAND DUNLAP
Robert Roland Dunlap, 68, of Nashville, TN, passed away May 15, 2000, in the Veterans Administration Hospital in Nashville. Funeral services were conducted May 17 from the chapel of Bilbrey Funeral Home, with burial in Bowden Cemetery. Bro. Hank Jones officiated.
Mr. Dunlap was born Dec. 17, 1931, in Easton, PA, the son of William and Anna Heath Dunlap.
He was a heating and air contractor, and he served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was of the Lutheran faith.
Survivors include his wife, Elsie Davis Dunlap of Nashville; daughters and sons-in-law, Susie and Ralph Morgan of Crossville, Rita and Donnie Sullivan of Knoxville, TN, and Marilyn Sooy, Teresa Smith and Tammie Wyatt, all of Nashville; mother-in-law, Rissie Davis of Crossville; five grandchildren, Adam, Audrey and Erik Sullivan, Matthew Morgan and Miranda Sooy; and two great-grandchildren, Ashley Sooy and Taylor Sullivan.
Pallbearers were Matthew Morgan, Ralph Morgan, James Davis, Erik Sullivan, Adam Sullivan and Donald Sullivan.

HENRY CARL JONES
Henry Carl Jones, 70, of Crossville, passed away May 12, 2000, in WyndRidge Health and Rehabilitation Center. Funeral services were conducted May 15 from the chapel of Bilbrey Funeral Home, with the Rev. Bobby Bowen officiating. Graveside committal was held May 16 at the Crossville City Cemetery.
Mr. Jones was born Nov. 22, 1929, in Harriman, TN, the son of Claude Henry and Rose Smith Jones.
He was a painter and maintenance worker at Cumberland Medical Center, and he was a member of the Church of Christ. He served in the U.S. Army, B Airborne in 1948, and during the Korean War.
Survivors include two daughters, Donna Henry and Rosemary Wieland, both of Crossville; three sons, Johnny Jones, Billy Jones and Jackie Jones, all of Crossville; brother, Arlo Lester Jones of Cincinnati, OH; 11 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Claude and Rose Jones; his wife, Billie Jo Hodge Jones; and a brother, Edward Jones.
Pallbearers were Joe Hall, Delane Sidwell, Carl Scott, Vic Music, Kenny Reese and Danny Parks.

JIMMY A. KILBY
Jimmy A. Kilby, 35, of Ten Mile, TN, passed away May 16, 2000, at home. A memorial service will be conducted tonight at 7 from the chapel of Bilbrey Funeral Home. Roger Britton will officiate.
Visitation will be tonight from 6 to 7 at the funeral home.
Survivors include his wife, Karin Kilby, a son, Justin Joseph Kilby, and two daughters, Jamie and Juilee Kilby, all of Ten Mile; parents, Demes and Sarah Kilby of Jacksonville, FL, formerly of Crossville; sisters, Edna Scarbrough of Crossville and Nellene Jolly of Jacksonville Beach, FL; brother, Demes Kilby Jr. of Morrisboro, NC; four nieces and three nephews.
At the family's request, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association.

ESTHER J. SANDUSKY
Esther J. Sandusky, 71, of Buford, GA, formerly of Fairfield Glade, passed away May 13, 2000, at Haven House Hospice in Atlanta, GA.
Mrs. Sandusky was born July 20, 1928, in Cincinnati, OH, the daughter of George and Clara Jones.
She lived in Richmond, IN, for over 40 years, and retired from Belden in Richmond in 1985. She later lived in Fairfield Glade, and most recently in Buford, GA.
Survivors include her husband of 53 years, James E. Sandusky of Buford; two daughters, Nila Joy Crawford of Sugar Grove, IL, and Nadia Weber of Gainesville, GA; two brothers, Dr. George Jones Jr. of College Park, MD, and Dr. William Buford Jones of Durham, NC; four grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
The National Cremation Society Memorial Center in Lilburn, GA, was in charge of the arrangements.

EULA BROWN
Eula Brown, 68, of Crossville, passed away May 12, 2000, at home. Funeral services were conducted May 14 from the chapel of Bilbrey Funeral Home, with burial in Bethlehem Cemetery in Overton County. The Rev. Mike Garrett officiated.
Mrs. Brown was born May 12, 1932, in Cumberland County, the daughter of Dan and Lydia Kerley Hayes.
She was a store clerk and a member of Meridian Baptist Church.
Survivors include her parents, Dan and Lydia Hayes of Crossville; daughters, Jo Ann Thurman of Crossville and Patty Morgan of Las Vegas, NV; son and daughter-in-law, Danny and Gretchen Thurman of Crossville; brother, Eugene Hayes of Grafton, OH; sister, Joyce Brady of Crab Orchard; stepsons, Aaron Brown and Michael Brown, both of Nashville; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Glenn Garrett, Donald Garrett, Ronnie Garrett, Bob Hayes, Keith Brady and Gerry Latham.

SYLVESTER KEYES
Sylvester Keyes, 69, of Crossville, passed away May 13, 2000. Funeral services were conducted May 16 at Crossville Memorial Funeral Home, with burial in Bowman Cemetery. Tommy Slayton officiated.
Mr. Keyes was born on March 12, 1931, in Cumberland County. He was a farmer.
Survivors include his wife, Roxie Keyes of Crossville; sons, Roland Keyes, Phillip Keyes and Roger Keyes, all of Crossville; brothers, Tommy Keyes and Charles Keyes, both of Clarkrange, TN, Donald Keyes, Bobby Keyes and Carlas Keyes, all of Chattanooga, TN; sisters, Sarah Lou Kelly of Jackson, FL, and Mary Lou Buck of Clarkrange; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Richard Iven Keyes; and two grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Jeremy Tollett, Jerry Turner, Gary Bowman, Rick Wyatt, Henry Honeycutt and Thomas Lansford.

GEORGE HENRY ECKERT
George Henry Eckert, 83, of Leesburg, FL, formerly of Fairfield Glade, passed away May 11, 2000.
Mr. Eckert was a native of Kokomo, IN, and had moved from Fairfield Glade to Leesburg in 1975.
He was employed as a job setter for Chrysler Transmission for 37 years, and had served in the Merchant Marines in World War II. He was a life member of the Moose Lodge No. 179 in Kokomo. He was also an avid sports fan and a Wildcat Booster.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Eckert of Leesburg; son, Bill Eckert of Fairfield, OH; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

CATHERINE LAWSON
Catherine "Jackie" Lawson, 74, of Crossville, passed away May 8, 2000, in Cumberland Medical Center. Funeral services were conducted May 11 from the chapel of Bilbrey Funeral Home, with burial in Smith Chapel Cemetery. The Rev. Russell Honeycutt officiated.
Mrs. Lawson was born on May 28, 1925, in Soddy-Daisy, TN, the daughter of Mack and Hazel Tinch Sims.
She was a homemaker, and of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include her husband, Frank M. Lawson Sr. of Crossville; sons, Frank M. Lawson Jr. of Athens, TN, and James Henry Lawson of Crossville; and sister and brother-in-law, Reba and Hubert W. Brown of Crossville.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Hazel Allred, and her father, Mack Sims.
Pallbearers were James Lawson, John Vaughn, Henry Lawson, Andrew C. Thomas, Frank M. Lawson Jr. and Carolyn Ann Lawson.

GENEVA TEMPLE
Geneva Temple, 75, of Crossville, passed away May 10, 2000. Graveside services were conducted May 12 at Fredonia Cemetery. The Rev. Gene Burgess officiated.
Ms. Temple was born on July 20, 1924, in Cumberland County. She was a restaurant manager.
Survivors include her daughter, Lillie Temple of Crossville; sons, Danny Temple and Marvin Temple, both of Crossville; brothers, Willie Wyatt and J.D. Wyatt, both of Crossville; sisters, Edda Piercy and Sue Carter, both of Crossville; 10 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were Tim Hassler, Mike Hassler, Johnny Howard, Tony Temple, Hillis Wyatt and Stanton Regan.

MARTIN HENRY WYATT
Martin Henry Wyatt, 96, of Cleves, OH, passed away May 13, 2000. Funeral services will be conducted today at 1 p.m. at the Neidhard-Minges Funeral Home in Taylors Creek, OH, with burial in Arlington Memorial Gardens in Mt. Healthy, OH.
Mr. Wyatt was born on June 12, 1903, in Isoline, Cumberland County, TN, the son of Daniel and Margaret Emiline Woody Wyatt.
He was a master pipefitter with Local No. 392 for 55 years.
Survivors include his son, James Wyatt of Cleves, OH; sister, Lillian Henry of Crossville; sister-in-law, Louise Wyatt of Crossville; seven grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Harriet Sorter Wyatt; a son, Daniel Wyatt; and a daughter, Nora Rich.
Memorial contributions in the name of Mr. Wyatt may be directed to the Leukemia Society of America.

LILLIS ROWENA HENRY
Lillis Rowena Henry, 97, of Crossville, passed away May 4, 2000, in WyndRidge Health and Rehabilitation Center. Funeral services were conducted May 8 from the chapel of Bilbrey Funeral Home, with burial in Green Acres Memory Gardens. The Rev. Fay Tucker officiated.
Mrs. Henry was born on Dec. 7, 1902, in Bledsoe County, TN, the daughter of Isaac Easterly and Sallie Greer Hoge.
She was a homemaker. She was a member of First United Methodist Church, and attended Homestead United Methodist Church.
Survivors include her son, Carlos Greer Henry of Tomball, TX; sisters, Rachel Overall of Tucson, AZ, and Bernice Huddleston of Etoway, TN; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, Nelson Page Henry, and a daughter, Sarah Jeanelle Hembree.
Pallbearers were John Bristow, Jerry Hembree, Dewayne Greene, Vance Graham, Charles Loveday and Dutch Highland.

MARGARET ELIZABETH HENSLEY
Margaret Elizabeth Hensley, 81, of Crossville, passed away May 8, 2000. Funeral services were conducted May 10 at Crossville Memorial Funeral Home, with Steven Pickard and Fred Holcomb officiating. Burial was in Crossville City Cemetery.
Ms. Hensley was born on Sept. 27, 1918, in Cumberland County.
Survivors include her daughters, Sue Wright and Ruth Kerley, both of Crossville, and Rosemary Moore of Brentwood, TN; sons, Bill Sanders of Nashville, TN, and Ben Sanders of Crossville; brothers, James Taylor of Fairborn, OH, and Paul Taylor, Tom Taylor and David Taylor, all of Crossville; 11 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were Anthony Kerley, Mark Medley, Shane Sanders, Chris Medley, Robert Sanders and Mark Davis.

CARLA LEANN RIMMER
Carla "Bidie" Leann Rimmer, 22, of Crossville, passed away May 5, 2000. Graveside services were held May 7 at the Pomona Cemetery. The Rev. Dennie Moore officiated, with special music by Lonnie Norrod.
Ms. Rimmer was born on Jan. 4, 1978, in Cumberland County, the daughter of Jerry Rimmer and Brenda Smith Rimmer.
She was a student at Tennessee Technological University, and she was of the Methodist faith.
Survivors include her mother, Brenda Rimmer, and her father, Jerry Rimmer, both of Crossville; sisters, Sonya Rimmer of Crossville and Mary Ann Williams of Sparta, TN; brother, Mike Rimmer of Crossville; and grandparents, Curt and Ethel Rimmer and Bob and Marie Stults, all of Crossville.
Pallbearers were Mike Rimmer, Chris Cole, Jason Futtrell, Rodney Williams, Brian Buckner, Shawn Robinson, Donald Rimmer and Jerry Rimmer.

FRANKLIN DELANO BAKER
Franklin Delano Baker, 67, of Crossville, passed away May 7, 2000. Graveside services were conducted May 10 in Crossville City Cemetery, with the Rev. Cecil McFarland officiating.
Mr. Baker was born on July 9, 1932, in Jellico, TN, the son of Ossie and Vena Miller Baker.
He was a self-employed social worker. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War.
Survivors include his daughter, Carla McComb of Powell, OH; sons, Joseph Rhett Baker of Cincinnati, OH, and Paul Andrew Baker of Covington, KY; sisters, Juanita Hill of Kingston, TN, and Nila Faye Queener of Geneva, NY; brothers, Jim Baker of Jellico, and Walter Baker of Cincinnati; and special friend, Linda Mattox.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ossie and Vena Baker.

JAMES DENTON FORD
James Denton "Denny" Ford, 51, of James Island, SC, passed away May 7, 2000. Funeral services will be today at 2 p.m. in John Wesley United Methodist Church in Charleston, SC.
Mr. Ford was born on Oct. 31, 1948, in Sumter, SC, the son of William G. Ford and Thelma Denton Ford Peterson.
He was a retired president of Atlantic Inc. Pest Management. He was a charter member of Epworth United Methodist Church of James Island. He was a graduate of James Island High School, and attended North Carolina State University.
He was a member and past president of the South Carolina Pest Control Association; member of the South Carolina Pest Control Association Hall of Fame; and a member and past member, board of directors, of the National Pest Control Association. He was a charter member of the James Island Salt Water Sports Club, and a past member of the Executive Association of Greater Charleston.
Survivors include his wife, Sherry Harbert Ford of James Island; his mother, Thelma Denton Ford Peterson of Fairfield Glade; son, J. Parker Ford of James Island; daughter, L. Maegan Ford of James Island; brothers, the Rev. Julian R. Ford of Easley, SC, and William T. "Ted" Ford of Mt. Pleasant, SC.

JACK LEON HORNBERGER
Jack Leon Hornberger, 57, of Crossville, passed away May 6, 2000. No services are planned.
Mr. Hornberger was born on Dec. 9, 1942, in Grand Rapids, MI, the son of Jack C. and Irene Kerr Hornberger.
Survivors include his wife, Dawn Hornberger of Crossville; stepmother, Geneva "Jenny" Hornberger; daughter, Geneva Keirn of Arizona; sons, Justin Hornberger of Pollok, TX, Marc Hornberger of Crossville, and Jack Joseph Hornberger of Phoenix, AZ; sisters, Linda Patterson and Miriam "Micky" Clawson, both of Michigan, and Joan Dominiah of Florida; brothers, Randy Hornberger of Arizona and Dave Hornberger of Indiana; and five grandchildren.

Arlie Reed, 61, of Grandview, passed away May 6, 2000. Funeral services were conducted May 8 at Reeds Chapel Church of God, with burial in Reeds Cemetery. The Rev. Ricky Smith and the Rev. Donald Haggard officiated.
Mr. Reed was born on Dec. 4, 1938, in Rhea County, the son of Jesse H. and Lona Mathis Reed.
Survivors include his wife, Donna Sue Reed of Grandview; daughters, Debbie Ann Reed, Karen Brock and Kathy Lynn Bowman, all of Grandview; sons, Terry Lee Reed, Danny Ray Reed and Christopher Allen Reed, all of Grandview; stepchildren, Joshua Alex Rector and Kelley Michelle Rector; sisters, Cleo Berry of Richmond, IN, Pauline Hendrickson of Hermitage, TN, and Wanda Reed of Grandview; brothers, Robert E. BURNITA MAE SNEARLEY
Burnita Mae Snearley, 75, of Fairfield Glade, passed away May 4, 2000. Funeral services were conducted May 7 from the chapel of Bilbrey Funeral Home, with burial in Crossville City Cemetery. Bro. Bobby Schoolfield officiated.
Mrs. Snearley was born on Jan. 11, 1925, in Indianapolis, IN, the daughter of Charles and Elizabeth Ellis Harness.
She was a clerk, and a member of Victory Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Edward Snearley of Fairfield Glade; two daughters, Laura Webster of Crossville and Amy Scholz of Portage, IN; brother, Charles Harness of Cedar Lake, IN; and 10 grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Sharon Rudolph.

THOMAS J. SUGGS
Thomas J. Suggs, 73, of the Vandever community, passed away April 15, 2000, at home. Funeral services were conducted on April 18, from the chapel of Bilbrey Funeral Home, with burial in Lantana Cemetery. Bros. Archie Howard and Gary Howard officiated.
Mr. Suggs was born on Sept. 13, 1926, in the Vandever community, the son of Doss H. and Lula W. Burgess Suggs.
He was a carpenter and welder by trade, and was a U.S. Army Veteran of Foreign Wars. He was a faithful church member and a good neighbor.
Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Kevin and Amy Suggs and Alvin and Vickie Suggs, all of Crossville; son, Stephen Eugene Suggs of Mexico; sisters, Ruth Ann Hamilton and Ruby N. Kerley, both of Crossville, and Betty Jewell Wesley of Bowie, MD; and two grandchildren, Cody and Brett Suggs, both of Crossville.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia Robbins Suggs; his parents, Doss H. and Lula W. Burgess Suggs. His brother, Cpl. Richard L. Suggs, a pilot, was declared missing in action in 1950, and his fate remains unknown.
Pallbearers were Jerry Hamilton, Chuck Davis, Allen Hale, Tracy Buck, Jamie Buck and Larry Burgess.

MARY RANDOLPH WHITEHEAD
Mary Randolph Whitehead, 101, of Algood, TN, passed away May 7, 2000, at the Masters Health Care Center in Algood. Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. today, from the chapel of Goff Funeral Home in Monterey, TN. The Rev. Bobby Floyd will officiate. Interment will follow in the Smith Chapel Cemetery in Pleasant Hill.
Mrs. Whitehead was born on Oct. 19, 1898, in Putnam County, TN, the daughter of the late John and Margaret Rice.
She was a homemaker.
Survivors include her daughter, Rosetta Jackson of Cookeville, TN; 47 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, and great-great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Asberry Randolph; four daughters, Bessie Scarbrough, Linnie Bumbalough, Beulah Hunters and Avina Scarbrough; and four sons, Frank Randolph, Arb Randolph, Wallace Randolph and Hollis Randolph.

Clyde Lemuel Wilder, 57, of Crossville, passed away May 4, 2000, in Cumberland Medical Center. Funeral services were conducted May 7 from the chapel of Bilbrey Funeral Home, with Bro. Willard Dale and Bro. Rick Davenport officiating. Graveside committal was May 8 at Saylor Cemetery in Pathfork, KY.
Mr. Wilder was born on March 7, 1943, in Pineville, KY, the son of Coyt Wilder and Ida Saylor.
He was a truck driver, and of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include a daughter, Justina Frost of Clinton, TN; three sons, Dustin Wilder and Coy Wilder, both of Atlanta, GA, and Jason Wilder of Fort Worth, TX; his mother, Ida Saylor of Berea, KY; brother, Jerry Wilder of Harrogate, TN; two sisters, Wilma B. Lanton of Berea, and Freda Young of Cincinnati, OH; two grandchildren, Natasha and Justin Frost of Clinton, TN; and special friend, Joyce House of Crossville.
Pallbearers were Eddie Frost, Stanley Blanton, Joey Wilder and Leon Matthews.

Bessie Mae Wilson, 94, of Crossville, passed away May 3, 2000. Funeral services were held May 6 at Burris Funeral Home, with burial in Crossville City Cemetery. Noble Wright officiated.
Mrs. Wilson was born on June 8, 1905, in Cumberland County, the daughter of Luther and Martha Foster Vandever.
She was a homemaker.
Survivors include her sons, James "Jim" Wilson and Don Stephen Wilson, both of Crossville; five grandchildren, Tim Wilson, Angela Hartings, Sharon Workman and Eric Stone, all of Crossville, and Patrick Stone of Augusta, GA; and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde Wilson; and a daughter, Peggy Stone.

W.M. DUVALL
W.M. "Bill" Duvall, of Fairfield Glade, passed away May 3, 2000. No services are planned.
Mr. Duvall was born on Nov. 29, 1926, in Alton, IL, the son of Wilmer and Sophia Duvall.
He graduated with high honors from the University of Illinois with a degree in chemical engineering, and was employed by Amoco Oil in Naperville, IL. While in Naperville, he served as a director of the Naperville Chamber of Commerce. He became involved with Junior Achievement, serving as manager of the Texas City, TX, Junior Achievement Center. Before he retired, he was manager of research and services at Amoco Oil's Naperville Research Center. He retired from Amoco in 1989 and moved from Naperville to Fairfield Glade in 1990.
Survivors include his wife, Norma Duvall; and his brother, Elbert Duvall of Bradenton, FL.

Helen Ora Grace Jenkins, 81, of Crossville, passed away May 3, 2000, in Cumberland Medical Center. Mrs. Jenkins was born on April 22, 1919, in Chattanooga, TN, the daughter of Harry Calvin and Annie Odom Smith.
She was a homemaker, and a member of the Church of Christ.

Gerald Mitchell Vanwinkle, 62, of Crossville, passed away April 30, 2000, at the University of Tennessee Medical Center in Knoxville, TN. Funeral services were conducted May 2 from the chapel of Bilbrey Funeral Home, with burial in Akins Cemetery. Bro. Kenneth Cole officiated.
Mr. Vanwinkle was born on July 30, 1937, in Cumberland County, the son of Roy Francis and Nellie Mae Brewer Vanwinkle.

JEFFREY B. MERRILL
Jeffrey B. Merrill, 43, of Crossville, passed away May 2, 2000, in the Cleveland Clinic Foundation in Cleveland, OH. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 6, at the Blackburn Funeral Home in Grafton, OH, with Pastor Ray Carpenter of Faith Baptist Temple in North Ridgeville, OH, officiating. Burial will be in Brookdale Cemetery in Elyria, OH.
Visitation will be tonight from 7 to 9 at the Blackburn Funeral Home.
Mr. Merrill was born on March 13, 1957, in Elyria, and lived in Lorain County, OH, most of his life, before moving to Crossville in 1986.
He was formerly employed with the Lorain County Sheriff's Department as a corrections officer, and most recently worked for LBJ&C as a bus driver. He attended Meridian Baptist Church in Crossville. He enjoyed children, drawing, reading and science fiction.
Survivors include his wife of 23 years, Patricia Merrill; one daughter, Melinda Merrill of Crossville; his mother, Faye Merrill of Elyria; and a half-sister, Betty Edwards of Evensville, TN.
He was preceded in death by his father, Melvin Merrill; and grandmother, Pearlie Baker.

GRADY EUGENE MULLINAX
Grady Eugene Mullinax, 71, of Crab Orchard, passed away April 28, 2000, in Cumberland Medical Center. Funeral services were conducted April 30 from the chapel of Bilbrey Funeral Home, with burial in Haley's Grove Cemetery. Bro. David Dial officiated, with special music by Doug Elder.
Mr. Mullinax was born on Oct. 24, 1928, in Cumberland County, the son of Franklin McDow and Vada Pennycuff Mullinax.
He was a stone cutter, and had served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
Survivors include three sisters, Ruby Hassler, Illine Rose and Dixie Hood, all of Crab Orchard; and five brothers, Kenneth Mullinax and Steve Mullinax, both of Crossville, John Ed Mullinax and Clyde Mullinax, both of Crab Orchard, and Billy Joe Mullinax, of Virginia Beach, VA.
Pallbearers were his nephews, Steve Mullinax, Richard Mullinax, Gordon Mullinax, Greg Mullinax, Chester Rhodes and David Rhodes.

CARL NORRIS
Carl Norris, 60, of Rockwood, TN, passed away April 27, 2000, at Oak Ridge Methodist Medical Center. Funeral services were conducted April 29 from the chapel of Bilbrey Funeral Home, with the Rev. John C. McCoy officiating. Graveside committal was held April 30, at the Daysville Cemetery.
Mr. Norris was born on Feb. 25, 1940, in Cumberland County, the son of Robert Baxter and Roxie Elizabeth Kilby Norris.
He was a merchant seaman, and he was a member of the Antioch Baptist Church.
Survivors include eight sisters, Gertie Farmer of Rainsville, AL, Corda Holloway of Crab Orchard, Ethel Nealon and Martha Turner, both of Crossville, Hazel Norris, Mary Baker, Glenda Parsons and Linda Sherrill, all of Rockwood; and three brothers, Vester Norris of Kingston, TN, Carson Norris of Pine Orchard, TN, and David Norris of Knoxville, TN.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Baxter and Roxie Elizabeth Kilby Norris, and one brother, Virgil Norris.

He was a retired design engineer for General Motors.

Mr. Taylor was born on May 23, 1907, in Dover, TN, the son of Arthur and Nola Wallace Taylor.

Ruth Barker Payne Turner, 87, of Crossville, passed away April 30, 2000, at Wharton Nursing Home. A memorial service was held May 3 at the chapel of Bilbrey Funeral Home. The Rev. Davis Babcock, Anna Belle O'Brien and J.H. Graham III officiated.
Mrs. Turner was born Nov. 19, 1912.
She was a member of Disciples of Christ in Crossville, and a longtime member of First United Methodist Church. She served as a board member and past member of the Cumberland County Election Commission, the Democrat Party and the Business and Professional Women's Club; and she was memorials chairman of the American Cancer Society for many years. She was advertising editor for the Cumberland County Times for seven years, and was a member of the Cumberland County Fair Association and the D.A.R.
Survivors include her son, Larry Turner of Crossville; daughter and son-in-law, Teri Lyn and Doug Viereck of Magnolia, TX; brother and sister-in-law, Bob and Ida Payne of Knoxville, TN; sister, Dorothy L. Payne of Crossville; son-in-law, L.T. Survivors include her husband, Beecher Seegraves of Pleasant Hill; sons, Barry Seegraves of Rockledge, FL, and Vaughn Seegraves of Lewisburg, TN; brother, Kenneth Ramsey, and sister, Joann Crumley, both of Sneedville; and four grandchildren.

Mrs. Freeland was born on Jan. 22, 1931, in Cumberland County, the daughter of Leston and Cecil Croft Hyder.
She was a licensed cosmetologist, and was a member of New Hope Baptist Church.

Mr. Hassler was born on March 20, 1919, in Overton County, TN, the son of the late H.H. and Tempie Weeks Hassler.
He was a retired coal miner and timber cutter.

ELISABETH MITCHELL
Elisabeth Mitchell, 87, of Pleasant Hill, passed away April 27, 2000. A memorial plaque will be placed at the Pleasant Hill Community Church United Church of Christ.
Miss Mitchell was a native of Birmingham, AL, and grew up in Atlanta, GA. She was the daughter of the late William Edward and Emma Brown Mitchell.
She graduated from Alabama College for Women and received her master's degree from Teachers College, Columbia University in New York. Upon returning to Atlanta, she became a member of the Agnes Scott College faculty, remaining there for six years.
In 1947, Miss Mitchell became the owner and director of Camp Nakanawa for Girls in Mayland. She remained director until she retired in 1981, when she moved to Pleasant Hill.
Survivors include her brother, Cameron, and 12 nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, Glenn, Duncan and Graham.

Memorial services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 3, at First Presbyterian Church in Nashville, with Dr. Thomas Tyndall and Dr. Arch MacNair officiating. Interment will be May 4 at Greenwood Cemetery in Knoxville, TN.
Survivors include her husband, Bryant S. Montgomery of Nashville; daughters, Dr. Marcia Montgomery of Nashville and Karen Montgomery Atchley of Knoxville; sons, Dr. Michael Bryant Montgomery of Columbia, SC, and David Montgomery of Moscow, Russia; grandchildren, Rachel Atchley, Marcus Atchley and Julia Atchley, all of Knoxville; and nephew, Arthur Cunningham III of Florence, AL.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the Billy Graham Nashville Crusade.

ALLINE RANDOLPH
Alline Randolph, 80, of Monterey, TN, passed away April 27, 2000, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. Funeral services were conducted April 29 from the chapel of Goff Funeral Home, with interment in Welch Memorial Cemetery. The Rev. Mark Hamaker officiated.
Mrs. Randolph was born on Nov. 7, 1919, in Monterey, the daughter of the late Virgil and Mary Allen Matheney.
She was a homemaker.
Survivors include five daughters, Brenda Foster and Bridget Daniels, both of Nashville, TN, Barbara Atkins of Smyrna, TN, Beverly Templeton of Mt. Juliet, TN, and Betina Durham of Monterey; six sons, Bobby Randolph and Bill Randolph, both of Nashville, Barry Randolph and Bruce Randolph, both of Mt. Juliet, Benny Randolph of Lebanon, TN, and Boris Randolph of Monterey; sisters, Edith Walker of Monterey, Bea Barker, Chec Harris and Wanda Dyer, all of Crossville; brother, Leroy Matheney of Monterey; 17 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Sam Randolph; and two grandchildren, Brent and Belinda.
Goff Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

RAYMOND RAYMOND SHADDEN
Thomas Raymond Shadden, 80, of Crossville, passed away April 22, 2000. A Celebration of Life was conducted April 25 from the chapel of Bilbrey Funeral Home, with graveside services at Crossville City Cemetery. Mr. Shadden's longtime friend, the Rev. Russell Honeycutt, officiated.
Mr. Shadden was born on Jan. 17, 1920, in Morgan County, the son of Thomas and Minnie Ruth Powell Shadden.
He was the founder of Shadden Tire Company, and was a World War II veteran. He had also served in the Tennessee General Assembly for several years as a state representative and state senator, and he had also served as mayor of Crossville.
Survivors include his wife, Evelyn Hale Shadden of Crossville; four daughters, Vickie Burgess, Pat Elmore, Jo Bolin and Minnie Hunter, all of Crossville; two sons, Tom Shadden and Wayne Shadden, both of Crossville; sisters, June Davis and Wilda Daniels, both of Wartburg; 13 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Archie Howard, Jerry Eller, Wade England. Tony Hall, Ronnie Tipton, Richard Pugh, Tommy Waltman and Mike Dalton.
Honorary pallbearers were the employees of Shadden Tire Company.
The family requests that memorials be made to Kids Inc. and the Vocational Technology Scholarship Fund.

LOUISE ROY SMITH
Louise Roy Smith, 84, of Smithville, TN, passed away April 30, 2000, in Wharton Nursing Home in Pleasant Hill. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. today at First Baptist Church in Smithville, with Bro. Bill Palmiter officiating. Interment will be in DeKalb Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be today at the church from 12:30 p.m. until time of service.
Mrs. Smith had been a selective service clerk, and she was a member of the First Baptist Church.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Nick and Ann Smith of Crossville; sisters, Carnell Hyde of Smithville and Ophalia Foutch of Chattanooga, TN; grandson, Tim Smith of Lebanon, TN; granddaughter, Jenny Smith of Crossville; and three great-grandchildren, Amanda, Ben and Sam Smith, all of Crossville.
She was preceded in death by her parents, J.F. and Myrtle Keaton Roy; brothers, Grant Roy, J.L. Roy and Charlie Roy; and sister, Mary Dunn.
