PAUL BERT HODGE
A memorial services for Paul Bert Hodge, 64, of Rockwood, TN, who passed away Jan. 22, 2000, will be held Jan. 28 at 2 p.m. from the chapel of Evans Mortuary in Rockwood, with Bro. Albert Griffin officiating.
He was a member of Westel Baptist Church, and he was a retired furnace operator with Roane Electric Furnace. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War.
Survivors include his wife, Ruby Hodge, of Rockwood; son, Paul Randall Hodge of Rockwood; sisters, Lila Smith of Rockwood, and Leona Gresham of Tullahoma, TN; and brother, Theodore Hodge of Rockwood.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Cora Frady Hodge, and brother, Elbert Hodge.

BRENTON JONES
Funeral services for Brenton Jones, 18, of Carthage, TN, who passed away Jan. 23, 2000, were scheduled for today, Jan. 26, at 1 p.m. from the chapel of Goff Funeral Home in Monterey, with burial in Welch Memorial Cemetery.
He was born May 20, 1981 in San Diego, CA, the son of William Jones and Yvonne Miranda.
Mr. Jones was an electrician and plumber, and he was scheduled to begin service in the U.S. Army on Jan. 24.
Survivors include his father and stepmother, Bill and Mary Jones of Carthage, TN; mother, Yvonne Miranda of Riverside, CA; paternal grandmother, Margaret Jones; stepsisters, Angela Gordon of Van Buren, AR, and Christine Maier of Carthage; stepbrothers, Michael Maier of Virginia Beach, VA, and Scott Maier of Lebanon, TN.

EDNA MARIE REYNOLDS
Edna Marie Reynolds, 82, passed away Jan. 23, in Santa Rosa, CA.
Born in Crossville, she resided for many years in Montclair, NJ, before moving to California in 1986.
Mrs. Reynolds worked for a time as a licensed vocational nurse and was a homemaker most of her life.
She was the wife of the late John George Reynolds.
Survivors include her son, John G. Reynolds Jr. of Plano, TX; daughter, Barbara Ann Pickard of Rohnert Park, CA; grandchildren, Tara Blankenship of Plano, John T. Reynolds of London, England, Justin R. Pickard of Modesto, CA, and Elizabeth N. Pickard of San Francisco, CA; brother, Harry Pugh of Crossville; and Aileen Caruthers of Kampobello, SC.
Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be held today, Jan. 26, 2000 at 10 a.m. at the Church of the Incarnation, Santa Rosa, CA. Private inurnment will be at Immaculate Conception Cemetery, Montclair, NJ.

CHARLES FRANKLIN ROGERS
Funeral services for Charles Franklin Rogers, 64, of Fairfield Glade, who passed away Jan. 22, 2000, were held Jan. 25 from the chapel of Jennings Funeral Home in Jamestown, with burial in Shadow Cemetery in Fentress County. Bro. Tommy Duncan officiated.
He was born Jan. 14, 1935 in Washington, IN, the son of William H. "Bill" Rogers and Elizabeth Dillin.
Mr. Rogers was a mail carrier with the U.S. Postal Service, and he was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in the Korean War.
Survivors include his wife, Agnes Green Rogers of Fairfield Glade; brother, William Rogers of Wichita, KS; and nieces, Katheryn Lundigan of Wichita, and Karen Lanman of Idaho.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William H. "Bill" Rogers and Elizabeth Rogers.
Pallbearers were Jerry Green, Dana Green, Jeff Green, Terry Baldwin, Perry Green, Danny Ramsey, Adam Ramsey, Phillip Ramsey, Bruce Winningham, Josh Baldwin and J.R. Guy.

ANNA JUANITA TABOR
Funeral services for Anna Juanita Tabor, 72, of Crossville, who passed away Jan. 21, 2000, were held Jan. 24 from the chapel of Bilbrey Funeral Home, with burial in Green Acres Memory Gardens. Bro. B.J. Brown and Dr. James Lee officiated.
She was born June 14, 1927 in Bryson City, NC, the daughter of Fred and Nettie Fields Carson.
Mrs. Tabor was a homemaker, and she was a member of Gospel Baptist Tabernacle Church. She belonged to the Order of the Eastern Star.
Survivors include her son, McKinley "Mackie" Leon Tabor of Nashville, TN; mother, Nettie Vaughn of Saline, MI; grandchildren, McKinley Hunter Tabor, Daniel Gregory Tabor and Rebecca Ann Tabor; sister, Faye Britton of Saline; and brother, Kenneth Carson of Saline.
She was preceded in death by her husband, former county judge Lon Tabor.

BLANCHE B. BEATY
Funeral services for Blanche B. Beaty, 81, of the Grimsley community in Fentress County, TN, who passed away Jan. 24, 2000, were held Jan. 26 from Grimsley United Methodist Church, with burial in the church's cemetery. Bro. Mike Howard officiated.
She was born Dec. 31, 1918 in Fentress County, the daughter of James and Alice Rogers Beaty.
Ms. Beaty was a graduate of Tennessee Wesleyan College in Athens, TN, and she received her master's degree in education from Middle Tennessee State University.
She was a retired teacher and formerly taught in the school systems of Fentress and Hamilton counties. She was a member of the Grimsley Methodist Church, the Fentress County Retired Teachers' Association and the Hamilton County Retired Teachers Association.
Survivors include her sisters, Ruth Cunningham, and husband, Bill, Wilma Beaty Cravens, and Lucille Beaty, all of Grimsley; nephew, Gene Cravens Jr., and his wife, Barbara, of Crossville; nieces, Cindy Brient and her husband, John, and Allison Cannon and her husband, Mark, all of Franklin, TN, and Melissa Asberry and her husband, Charlie, of Jamestown, TN; great nephews, Matthew Cravens and R.G. Cravens III, Alex Cannon and Bryan Lee Asberry; and great nieces, Katie and Lucy Brient, Chelsea Cannon and Sonny Lee Asberry.
She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Alice Rogers Beaty, and brothers, James "Sonny" Beaty and Donald Dean Beaty.

N. LOUISE HADEN
Funeral services for N. Louise Haden, 82, of Reynoldsburg, OH, formerly of Crossville, who passed away Jan. 19, 2000, were held Jan. 22 from Schoedinger East Chapel in Columbus, OH. Burial was Jan. 24 in Fort Bliss National Cemetery in El Paso, TX.
A resident of Crossville for almost 20 years, Mrs. Haden was a retired seamstress.
A member of Jehovah's Witnesses, she attended the Crossville Kingdom Hall.
Survivors include her daughter, Judy Browner of Reynoldsburg; son and daughter-in-law, Kenny and Cerine Haden of Knoxville, TN; grandchildren, Misty Shimberg and her husband, David, Jerry Browner, Rachel Haden and Stacey Haden; sister, Helen Milford of Houston, TX; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Milburn Orie Haden; parents, Cecil and Nellie Worsham; sisters, Mary Ruth Worsham and Agnes Skelton; and brothers, Joe, Cecil, Willard, Fred and Leonard Worsham.

MILDRED P. FULTS
Funeral services for Mildred P. Fults, 68, of Crossville, who passed away Jan. 22, 2000, were held Jan. 24 from the chapel of Crossville Memorial Funeral Home, with burial in Crossville City Cemetery. Pastor Michael Brown officiated.
She was born April 7, 1931 in Muncie, IN.
Mrs. Fults was a cook and homemaker.

She was born Jan. 27, 1922 in Fordtown, TN.

JAMES EDWARD CROSLEY
Funeral services for James Edward Crosley, 89, of Crossville, who passed away Jan. 18, 2000, were held Jan. 24 from the chapel of Ballard Funeral Home in Daleville, IN.
The Rev. Henry Patterson will officiate. Burial will be in Memorial Park in Anderson, IN.
He was born July 22, 1910 in Fortville, IN, the son of Arther and Stella Cook Crosley.
Mr. Crosley retired in 1971 as a tool sharpener for General Motors. He was a founding member of Chesterfield Freewill Baptist Church in Chesterfield, IN.
Survivors include his daughter, Rose Marie Parrish of Crossville; sons, Doyle Eugene Crosley of Crossville, and Jerry Lee Crosley of Fairfield Glade; brother, Ralph Crosley of Anderson; 12 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Rosella Taylor Crosley.

She was born Aug. 27, 1907 in Crab Orchard, the daughter of Walter and Betty Hedgecoth Barnwell.
Mrs. Pugh was a merchant and she was of the Protestant faith.
Survivors include her son, Clifton Pugh Jr. of Cross Plains, TN; four grandchildren; sisters, Pauline Scott and Edith Monday, both of Crossville, Mary Sherrill of Manchester, TN, Hazel Salon of Cleveland, OH; and brothers, Hagor Barnwell of Crossville, and Larkin Barnwell of Crab Orchard.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Clifton Pugh Sr., parents, Walter and Betty Barnwell; brothers, Hiram, Lynn and Warden Barnwell; and sisters, Lela Pugh and Clara Durham.

DIANNA TREADWAY

She was born Feb. 17, 1945 in Youngstown.

He was born March 5, 1919 in Sumner County, TN.
Mr. Ventress was an orderly for Cumberland Medical Center, and he was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving in World War II.

She was born Sept. 14, 1917 in Cumberland County, the daughter of Jessie James Castleman and Bonnie Ozola Allen Castleman.
Mrs. Butler was a secretary, and she was a member of Central Baptist Church.
Survivors include her sister, Lucille Hill of Las Vegas, NV; several nieces and nephews; and many great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Hershell Butler.

JAMES ENGLISH
James English, 71, of Crossville, passed away Jan. 16, 2000. No services are planned.
He was born April 27, 1928 in Kansas City, KS, to James English Sr. and Margaret Kahoe English.
Mr. English was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during World War II, and he was also a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. He was of the Catholic faith, and he was a self-employed upholsterer.
Survivors include his wife, Flossie Smith English of Crossville; daughters and son-in-law, Micki English of Crossville, and Vickie and Randy Seekatz of San Antonio, TX; stepchildren, Linda Horner of Hasting, NE, and Perry Pendergrass of Crossville; brother, Charles English of San Bernadino, CA; sister, Dorothy Willard of Kansas City, KS; and grandchildren, Anthony English, Guy and Sherry Horner.

She was born July 6, 1938 in Stone County, MS, the daughter of James Frederick and Ethel Luvenia Lee Cruthirds.
Mrs. Beech was a waitress at Katie's Cafe in Gulfport, MS, and she was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include her son, Garry Speer of McHenry, MS; two granddaughters; five great-granddaughters; sister, Ina Lucas of Crossville; brother, Gerald Ray Cruthirds of Wiggins, MS; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Ethel Cruthirds; daughter, Carrie Ann Beech; and Geneva Marie Perkins.

LUTHER FARLEY
Funeral services for Luther Farley, 86, of Crossville, who passed away Jan. 8, 2000, were held Jan. 11 from the chapel of Bilbrey Funeral Home, with burial in Crossville City Cemetery. Bro. Arthur Smith officiated, with special music by Tennessee Gospel Aires.
He was born Nov. 20, 1913 in Union City, TN, the son of Howard and Leona Sander Farley.
Mr. Farley was an employee of the Tennessee State Highway Department, and he was a member of the Church of God.
Survivors include his daughters and sons-in-law, Peggy and Charles Henry of Sparta, TN, and Dorothy Barnes and Inez Martin, both of Crossville; five grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; brother, Elmer Farley of Pensacola, FL; and sister, Evvie Baker of Nashville, TN.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mae Archie Farley; sisters, Alberta Wilson and Brillion Gargus; and brothers, Bobby Farley and James Farley.

JAMES "BUTTON" PUGH
Funeral services for James "Button" Pugh, 66, of Crossville, who passed away Jan. 10, 2000, were held Jan. 13 from the chapel of Bilbrey Funeral Home, with burial in Woody Cemetery.
He was born Dec. 3, 1933 in Cumberland County, the son of Ray and Beryl Davidson Pugh.
Mr. Pugh was a factory worker, and he was of the Baptist faith. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force.
Survivors include his wife, Cleta Pugh of Crossville; daughter and son-in-law, Regenia and Keith Griffith of Crossville; grandchildren, Steven, Jason and Kevin Griffith of Crossville; sister, Johnnie Mae Monk of Crossville; and brother, Billy Bob Pugh of Crossville.

She was born Dec. 7, 1920 in Gap Mills, WV, the daughter of Harry and Georgia Lowe Humphreys.
Mrs. Rookstool was a homemaker, and she was a member of Tansi Community Church. She was an active member of the the Cumberland Seniors.
Survivors include her daughters, Bev Cook of Madison, MS, and Kathy Owen of Nashville; and son, Roger Rookstool of Clarksville, TN.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Clifford C. Rookstool.

He was born Aug. 24, 1933 in Linary, TN, the son of Albert and Nannie Bristow Winningham.
Mr. Winningham was a retired truck driver for General Processing. He was a member of the West Ave. Church of Christ.

ANITA CORLISS FRY
A memorial service for Anita Corliss Fry, 74, of Pleasant Hill, who passed away Jan. 14, 2000, will be held at a later date in Vermont.
She was born Jan. 18, 1925 in Swanton, VT, the daughter of Gaylord and Lois Beals Corliss.
Mrs. Fry was a retired teacher with the New York State school system.

He was born Aug. 27, 1934 in Detroit, MI, the son of Robert C. Haston Sr. and Rose Shepherd Haston.
Mr. Haston was a truck driver, and he was of the Protestant faith. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marines, serving during the Korean War.

GLADYS M. MONTEITH
Gladys M. Monteith, 86, of Winter Park, FL, died on Dec. 19, 1999 of cardio-respiratory arrest. She was born in Pleasant Hill, the daughter of Thomas Andrew and Mary Ellen Tanner. The Tanner family were early settlers and land-grant holders in Cumberland County. They were of the Methodist faith, and Gladys and her family attended the Claysville church.
Mrs. Monteith was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Col. James G. Monteith, U.S. Army (retired). Col. and Mrs. Monteith had moved to Florida in 1976. She was a member of the Retired Officers Wives Club and DOES, Benevolent Protective Order of Elks.
She is survived by a daughter, Barbara Ann Brant of Orlando, FL; brother, Bud Tanner of Crossville; granddaughter, Cathy Probst of Asheville, NC; great-granddaughters, Laura Probst, of Mentor, OH, and Kimberly Probst of Asheville; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be held Friday, Jan. 21, at 4 p.m. at the Baldwin-Fairchild funeral home, 7520 Aloma Ave., Winter Park, FL 32792.

Betty Mathis, 84, passed away Dec. 29, 1999 in Jacksonville, FL after a short illness.
She was born in Springfield, VT, and moved to Jacksonville from Fairfield Glade in 1991. Prior to that move, she was a long-time resident of Sylvania, OH.
Mrs. Mathis was a member of Geneva Presbyterian Church, and she was known to many Jacksonville residents as "Betty Bobbles," a movie critic on "Lamm at Large," on WNZS Radio 930.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Louis, in 1987.
Survivors include her sons, David, of Union City, MI, and Donald of Jacksonville; daughter, Judy Mouch of Cincinnati, OH; eight grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a stepgreat-grandchild.

Funeral services for Dr. Robert Chandler Lake, 79, of Pleasant Hill, who passed away Dec. 29, 1999, will be held Jan. 9 at 3 p.m. at Pleasant Hill Community Church. The Rev. Ed Schneider will officiate.
He was born Feb. 20, 1920 in Brooklyn, NY, the son of Dr. and Mrs. Gleason Lake.
Dr. Lake graduated from the University of Washington in Seattle. He received his MD from Northwestern University of Chicago and interned at St. Luke's Hospital. He served as an officer in the U. S. Navy during World War II. Following his naval duties, he completed his residency in internal medicine at Ford Hospital in Detroit.
He practiced medicine in the Detroit area 40 years before moving to Tennessee. He was a member of Uplands Retirement Community in Pleasant Hill for 15 years. While a resident of this area, he worked at Crab Orchard Clinic and Wharton Nursing Home, where he remained on staff until his death.
Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Eleanor, of Pleasant Hill; daughters, Linda McCall and Rebecca Schmitt, both of Ann Arbor, MI, and Janet Miller of Grosse Pointe Woods, MI; sons, Robert Lake of Worcester, MA, and James Lake of Fort Wayne, IN; 12 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; sister, Doris Morgan of British Columbia; and several nieces and nephews.

JANE LEWIS CRAVENS MARLOW
Funeral services for Jane Lewis Cravens Marlow, 66, of Crossville, who passed away Dec. 29, 1999, were held Jan. 2, 2000 from First United Methodist Church, with burial in Green Acres Memory Gardens. Dr. James H. Beasley Jr. and the Rev. Carolyn Bingham officiated.
She was born March 25, 1933, the daughter of George A. Edwards Sr., and Vera Lorene Lewis Edwards.
Mrs. Marlow was a teacher, and she was a member of First United Methodist Church.
Survivors include her daughters and sons-in-law, Rachel and Ronny Hill, and Kathy and Marty Gibson, all of Crossville; 11 grandchildren; two stepdaughters, Mary Ellen Walden of Ashland City, and Teresa Wilson of Crossville; stepson, David Marlow of Los Angeles, CA; and brother, Maj. Gen. George Edwards Jr. of Austin, TX.
She was preceded in death by husbands, Harry Cravens and Ralph Marlow, and stepson, Garry Marlow.
Pallbearers were George Marlow, Steve Lewis, Stan Lewis, Jerry Lewis, Craig Wheeler, and Michael Wheeler.

BENJAMIN E. SMITH
Funeral services for Benjamin E. Smith, 33, of Crossville, who passed away Dec. 29, 1999, were held Dec. 31 from Smith's Chapel Baptist Church, with burial in Smith's Chapel Cemetery. Bro. Harold Robinson officiated.
He was born March 23, 1966 in Jacksonville, FL.
Survivors include his mother, Lynda Abston of Crossville; father and stepmother, Larry and Cleo Flake of Jacksonville, FL; brothers, Eric Friedman, Larry Flake II, and Dusty Flake, all of Jacksonville, FL; sisters, Lynda Maier of Crossville, Jerrie Cobb of Pleasant Hill, and Lynn Mackie of Lake Tansi; grandmother, Fannie Bell Flake; five nieces; six nephews; brothers-in-law, Tony Cobb of Pleasant Hill and Eddie Mackie of Lake Tansi; sisters-in-law, Laura Flake and Dale Harvey Flake, both of Jacksonville, FL; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

KENNETH MARION SPARROW
Funeral services for Kenneth Marion Sparrow, 86, of Pleasant Hill, who passed away Dec. 26, 1999, were held Dec. 30 at Burris Funeral Home, with burial in Old Pleasant Hill Cemetery. The Rev. Cecil McFarland officiated.
He was born Feb. 25, 1913 in Newton, KS, the son of James and Anna Herr Sparrow.
Mr. Sparrow was a retired electrical engineer with the U. S. Government's Defense Electronics Supply Center.
Survivors include his daughter, Sue Sparrow of Stockton, CA; and sons, Tom Sparrow of Shoreview, MN, and Don Sparrow of Pittsburgh, PA.

AUSTIN VAUGHN
Funeral services for Austin Vaughn, 98, of Crossville, who passed away Dec. 31, 1999, were held Jan. 3, 2000 from the chapel of Bilbrey Funeral Home, with burial in Campground Cemetery. The Rev. Russell Honeycutt officiated.
He was born Aug. 16, 1901 in Fentress County, TN, the son of Edd and Lucinda Key Vaughn.
Mr. Vaughn had been an employee of Crab Orchard Stone Co., and he was a member of First Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Nettie Mae Vaughn of Michigan; daughters, Katie J. Hobby of Nashville, and Edna Marie Jackson of Dayton, OH; son, Silas Vaughn of Dayton, OH; 21 grandchildren; stepdaughters, Juanita Tabor of Nashville, and Faye Carson of Saline, MI; and stepson, Kenneth Carson of Saline, MI.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ova Lee Miller Vaughn; and son, Paul Vaughn.
Pallbearers were Alvin Vaughn, Dencil Ware, Don Crace, Ross Snodderly, David White and Bob Lay.

JAY O. YODER
Funeral services for Jay O. Yoder, of Fairfield Glade, formerly of Sturgis, MI, who passed away Jan. 1, 2000, will be held tomorrow, Jan. 6, from Farrand Funeral Home in White Pigeon, MI. Burial will be in White Pigeon Township Cemetery. The Rev. Wilbur Brandli will officiate. Full military rites will be held by Arthur E. Shears Post #223, American Legion.
The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 p.m. at Farrand Funeral Home.
He was born July 21, 1921 in Middlebury, IN, the son of Ollie and Opal Cordier Yoder.
Mr. Yoder was employed by Royer Ford as manager of the White Pigeon car dealership, and he was also employed in manufactured housing. He was a veteran of the U. S. Army Air Corps, serving in World War II. He moved to Fairfield Glade with his wife, Sandy L. Yoder, three years ago from Sturgis, MI. His memberships included the Arthur E. Shears Post #223; American Legion, life member; Disabled American Veterans, Michigan Chapter #33, life member; Siloam Lodge #35, F&AM, Constantine, MI; and Eastern Star, Chapter #210, Three Rivers.
In addition to his wife, survivors include his daughter, Mrs. Joe (Cherrie) Garcia of North Little Rock, AR; sons, Gary D. Yoder of Clinton, TN, and David G. Yoder of York, TN; grandchildren, Kelly Boulanger of Houston, TX, Laura and Robyn Yoder of Kalamazoo, MI, and Blake and Chance Yoder of North Little Rock, AR; sisters, Pauline Musser of Brandenton, FL, and Bernice Maloy of Emerald Isle, NC; brothers, Ray Yoder of White Pigeon, MI, and Ernie Yoder of Sharpsburg, NC; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.

JAMES ELI MILLER SR.
James Eli Miller Sr., 80, passed away at his home in Etowah, TN, in McMinn County, on Dec. 23.
A memorial service will be held Jan. 3, 2000 at 3 p.m. EST at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 123 E. Jackson St., Athens, TN.
Survivors include four brothers, and two sisters. He had four sons and two daughters.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Paul's Memorial Fund.
