JEROME S. PATEFIELD
Jerome S. Patefield, 70, of Fairfield Glade, passed away Aug. 26, 2000. Funeral services were conducted Aug. 29 at Fairfield Glade United Methodist Church, with Wayne Venson officiating.
Mr. Patefield was born Oct. 3, 1929, in Fort Atkinson, WI, the son of Arthur and Bernice Patefield.
He was a troubleshooter for a power company.
Survivors include his wife, Zella Patefield; sons and daughters-in-law, Rodney W. and Nancy Patefield of Hollie Springs, NC, Dr. Arthur J. and Christine Patefield of Charlotte, NC, and Richard T. and Terri Patefield of Crossville; daughter and son-in-law, Patti Lynn Patefield and Dr. Edward Haugen of Hayward, WI; 10 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Bernice Patefield.

RICHARD ROBERT SEPERICH
Richard Robert Seperich, 74, of Fairfield Glade, passed away Aug. 25, 2000, in Cumberland Medical Center. Services will be held at a later date.
Mr. Seperich was born April 3, 1926, in Hinsdale, IL, the son of George and Elizabeth Kufrin Seperich.
He was employed by National Tea Food Stores in Illinois after serving in the U.S. Army. He was a store manager for Kroger Co. in several stores in and around the Chicago area. In 1972 he started his own business, Dick's Painting and Minor Repairs, from which he retired in 1988, when he moved with his wife Yvonne to Fairfield Glade. He was a member of Lombard (IL) Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Lombard Rotary Club, First United Methodist Church of Lombard and Fairfield Glade United Methodist Church, and was secretary of Kensington Woods Townhouse Association from 1997-Õ99.
Survivors include his wife, Yvonne Maisey Seperich of Fairfield Glade; sons and daughters-in-law, Gary Lee and Doris Seperich, Scott Richard and Janie Seperich and Randall Alan and Kaylene Seperich, all of Colorado; sister, Rose Seperich Hopkins of Minnesota; and five grandchildren, Kira, Annie, Shad, Devon and Cole Seperich, all of Colorado.
The family requests that memorials be made to the American Cancer Society or the Fairfield Glade United Methodist Church Endowment Fund.

ROSIE TAYS
Rosie Tays, 67, of Crossville, passed away Aug. 29, 2000, at Country Place Health Care Center. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, Aug. 31 at 2 p.m. from the chapel of Goff Funeral Home in Monterey, with interment to follow in Whittaker Cemetery. The Rev. Bobby Floyd will officiate.
Visitation will be tonight, Aug. 30, from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.
Mrs. Tays was born April 9, 1933, in Monterey, the daughter of the late Dorton Stamps and Anna Tays Wallace.
She was a homemaker.
Survivors include her sister, Mae Winski of New York City, NY; and three brothers, Bill Wallace and J.B. Wallace, both of Crossville, and Issac Wallace of Naples, FL.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Martha Wiggins and Stella Young.

WILLODEAN VADEN OFFICER
Willodean Vaden Officer, 71, of Monterey, TN, passed away Aug. 25, 2000, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. Funeral services were conducted Aug. 28 from the chapel of Horner Funeral Home in Monterey, with burial in Welch Memorial Cemetery. Bro. DeWitt Sampley and Bro. Barry Purser officiated.
Mrs. Officer was born Dec. 29, 1928, in Monterey, the daughter of the late Athie and Lena Smith Vaden.
She was a graduate of Monterey High School, and Knoxville General Hospital as a registered nurse. She worked at the Monterey Hospital, Cumberland Medical Center and Standing Stone Health Care Center. She was a member of Eastern Star, Civitan Club, Monterey VFW Ladies Auxiliary and the Monterey Food Bank. She was a board member of the Monterey Standing Stone Health Care Center after her retirement. She was a member of Monterey First Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Walton Officer of Monterey; brothers and sisters-in-law, Billy Earl and Shirley Vaden of Algood, TN, Calvin and Virginia Vaden of Battle Creek, MI, Kenneth and Elise Vaden, Mert and Ann Vaden and George Vaden, all of Monterey; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Geneva Miller; and two brothers, Paul Eugene "Boob" Vaden and Bobby Vaden.
Pallbearers were Jimmy Miller Jr., Chris Vaden, Paul Vaden, Kenneth Vaden, David Varney and Steve Van DeVoorde.

EDWARD CARMACK ROGERS
Edward Carmack Rogers, 89, of Crossville, passed away Aug. 26, 2000. A memorial service will be conducted today, Aug. 29, at 1 p.m. from the chapel of Bilbrey Funeral Home.
Visitation will be today at the funeral home, from noon until time of service.
Mr. Rogers was born Feb. 3, 1911, near Gainesboro, TN, the son of James B. and Amanda Bailey Rogers.
He attended Cumberland Mountain School, where he met his future wife, MaryBelle McCormick, and graduated valedictorian of his class in 1934.
He joined the U.S. Army in 1938 and retired as a lieutenant colonel in 1958, having served at many posts in this country and abroad, including the Philippines; Brazil; Germany; Fort Meade, MD; Fort Knox, KY; and Albuquerque, NM.
Following his retirement, Mr. Rogers worked as a real estate agent in Albuquerque. He served in the diplomatic corps of the U.S. State Department at the U.S. Agency of International Development of Currency Exchange in Paris, France and Bonn, Germany. He later worked as a high school history teacher in Cumberland County. Afterward he was employed with the U.S. State Department in Vietnam, and as a liaison for the U.S. Army in Saudi Arabia.
In 1999, he joined the Crossville Religious Society of Friends (Quakers).
Survivors include two sisters, Dorothy Jackson of Gainesboro and Bonnell Biggers of Red Boiling Springs, TN; sons and daughters-in-law, Toby and Judy Rogers and Philip and Mary Ruth Rogers; daughter and son-in-law, Jan and Joe Burns; daughter, Pamela Rogers; and eight grandchildren, Jesse and Sarah Grace Rogers, Robert and James Rogers, Amanda and Matthew Burns, Mary Carmen Brown and Allison Schwab.

ELIZABETH ROSE COX
Elizabeth Rose Cox, 84, of Terre Haute, IN, passed away Aug. 22, 2000, in Terre Haute Regional Hospital. Funeral services will be conducted today, Aug. 25, at 11 a.m. from the chapel of DeBaun Funeral Home in Terre Haute, with burial in Roselawn Memorial Park. Pastor Hoyte Wilhelm of Wooster, OH, will officiate.
Mrs. Cox was born June 3, 1916, in Terre Haute, the daughter of Herman Christian Roesch and Mary Jane Thomas.
She was a Glas-Col mantle maker, and a member of Eastern Star, Order of Cauldren, and the Maryland Community Home Ec. Club.
Survivors include her daughters, Elizabeth "Ellen" Cummings of Fairfield Glade, Rose Mary McDowell of Elkhart, IN, and Suzanne "Suzie" Hendrix of Terre Haute; half-sisters, Patricia Spahn and Barbara Sheldon; eight grandchilden, Dallas D. "Pete" Cummings Jr., Barbara Sopher, Teresa Wilhelm, Elizabeth Vander Molen, Laura McDowell, Randall McDowell, Kimberly Sappington and Scott Hendrix; 15 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Randal Cox.

CHASE EDWARDS
Chase Edwards, an infant, of Crossville, passed away Aug. 20, 2000. Graveside services were conducted Aug. 23 at Haley's Grove Cemetery, with Ryan Dick officiating.
Chase was born Aug. 20, 2000, in Cumberland County, the son of Denise and Jimmy Edwards.
Survivors include his parents, Denise and Jimmy Edwards of Crossville; sisters, Ashley Edwards and Bailey Edwards, both of Crossville; grandparents, Buster and Jenny Edwards of Crab Orchard; and grandmother, Linda Stults of the Rinnie community.
He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Bill Stults.

NOTIE JANE ROACH
Notie Jane Roach, 100, of Sparta, TN, passed away Aug. 22, 2000, in Wharton Nursing Home. Funeral services will be conducted today, Aug. 25, at 1 p.m. at Hunter Funeral Home, with burial in Bethlehem Cemetery. Kenneth Peters will officiate.
Mrs. Roach was born Nov. 27, 1899, in Putnam County, TN.
She was a homemaker.
Survivors include two sons, Willie Roach and Gerald Roach, both of Sparta; two daughters, Gladys Lawson of Sparta and Lora Mae Simpson of Mobile, AL; 28 grandchildren; 49 great-grandchildren; 39 great-great-grandchildren; and one great-great-great-grandchild.

THOMAS MICHAEL HALE III
Thomas "Tommy" Michael Hale III, 34, of Huntsville, AL, formerly of Crossville, passed away Aug. 18, 2000. Funeral services were conducted Aug. 21 from the chapel of Bilbrey Funeral Home, with burial in Crossville City Cemetery. The Rev. Ron McKay officiated, with special music by Ann Stout, Vicky Tabor, Alton Tabor and Charlotte Tabor.
Mr. Hale was born Feb. 17, 1966, in Cumberland County, the son of Thomas Michael Hale Jr. and Eula Mae Tabor Hale.
He was a self-employed owner of Tucker Golf, and a member of Ford's Chapel United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his daughter, Vadah Marie Hale of Huntsville; father, Thomas Michael Hale Jr. of Crossville; grandmother, Kathryn Tabor of Crossville; sister and brother-in-law, Gail and Keith Lowe of Huntsville; niece, Sarah Jane Lowe of Huntsville; and nephew and namesake, William Thomas Lowe of Huntsville.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Eula Mae Tabor Hale; grandmother, Martha Jane Kemmer Hale; and grandfathers, Thomas Michael Hale Sr. and Dallas Tabor.
Pallbearers were Tony Harvell Sr., Tony Harvell Jr., Brian Willis, Travis Black, Darryl Anderson, Donald Sharp, Tony Hicks and Kyle Turner.

ALICE I. HONEYCUTT
Alice I. Honeycutt, 84, of Westel, passed away Aug. 20, 2000, in Roane Medical Center in Harriman, TN. Funeral services will be conducted today, Aug. 23, at 11 a.m. from the chapel of Evans Mortuary in Rockwood, TN, with interment to follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery.
Mrs. Honeycutt was born Dec. 10, 1915, in the Pisgah community of Cumberland County, the daughter of Samuel and Nancy Mallicoat Golliher.
She was a homemaker.
Survivors include her husband, William Benton Honeycutt of Westel; daughter and son-in-law, Geraldine H. and Ken Slaughter of Canton, GA; daughter, Kathleen H. Nakanishi of Westel; sons and daughters-in-law, Harley Dean and Suzanne Honeycutt and Vaughn Ray and Janet Honeycutt, all of Westel; son, William Avery Honeycutt of Westel; sisters, Bertie Garniet of Federal Way, WA, Ethel Ezell of Sequin, WA, and Edna Davis of Pleasant Hill; grandchildren, Brian Nakanishi, Karyn Fishburn, Kristy Honeycutt, Eric Honeycutt, Keith Honeycutt, Kevin Honeycutt and Harley Honeycutt; and four great-grandchildren.

PAUL F. NEWCOME
Paul F. Newcome, 82, of Crossville, passed away Aug. 21, 2000, in Fort Sanders Parkwest Hospital in Knoxville, TN. Funeral services will be conducted tonight, Aug. 23, at 8 from the chapel of Evans Mortuary in Rockwood, TN, with the Rev. Steve Foster officiating. Graveside services and interment will be Aug. 24 at 11 a.m. in Roane Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be tonight from 6 to 8 at Evans Mortuary.
Mr. Newcome was born June 22, 1918, in Jefferson, TN, the son of Samuel and Lela Newcome.
He was retired from Burlington Industries with 43 years of service, and was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Rockwood, the American Legion, Rockwood Lodge No. 403 F&AM, and Alhambra Shrine and Scottish Rite, Chattanooga, TN.
Survivors include his wife, Lillie W. Newcome of Crossville; daughters and sons-in-law, Barbara and Harold White and Roma and Glen White, all of Rockwood; son, Ronald Newcome of Richmond, VA; son and daughter-in-law, Freddie and Robin Bowling of Richmond; stepdaughters, Cynthia Pogue and her husband Rusty of Rockwood and Amy Johns and her husband Roger of Harriman, TN; stepson, John Worley and his wife Julie of Kingston, TN; sister, Clara Tankersley of Chattanooga; 14 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel and Lela Newcome; his first wife, Edna Newcome; brothers, Leonard Newcome, Clyde Newcome, Houston Newcome, Fred Newcome and Estelle Newcome; and sisters, Clemma Watson and Georgia Brandon.

VELMA JEAN PAULSON
Velma Jean Paulson, 58, of Crossville, passed away Aug. 8, 2000, in Cumberland Medical Center. Funeral services were conducted Aug. 12 at Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church, with burial in Green Acres Memory Garden. Pastor David Wollenburg officiated.
Mrs. Paulson was born June 12, 1942, in Pauls Valley, OK, the daughter of Andrew and Lorena Calvert Golden.
She was a homemaker, and a member of Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church.
Survivors include her mother, Lorena Golden of Red Wing, MN; son, Jerry Hill of Crossville; daughters, Betty Brooks of Spring Hill, TN, Kim Wood of Nolensville, TN, and Karen Paulson and Krista Paulson, both of Crossville; brothers, Ray Golden of Kathleen, GA, Rory Golden of Red Wing, MN, and David Golden of Detroit Lakes, MN; sisters, Jean Bennett of Dallas, TX, and Dorothy Johnson of Welch, MN; grandchildren, Tina Ramirez, Steven Stein, Casey Brooks and Chelsea Wood; and great-grandchildren, Elizabeth Karratti and Michael Ramirez.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Casey Paulson; her father, Andrew Golden; a brother, Gerald Golden; and a grandchild, Mackenzie Cox.

ARMON JAY DAVIS
Armon Jay Davis, 56, of Hixson, TN, passed away Aug. 17, 2000. A memorial service was conducted Aug. 19 from the chapel of Williamson and Sons Funeral Home in Soddy-Daisy, TN, with the Rev. Wayne Bowman officiating.
Mr. Davis was born Nov. 10, 1943, in Cumberland County, the son of Herbert and Ruby Davis.
He was a carpenter.
Survivors include his wife, Joan Davis of Hixson; son, Jason S. Davis of Hixson; and two sisters, Pearline Rhea of Crossville and Jeanette Cannon of La Follette, TN.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Herbert and Ruby Davis; and a brother, Harold Davis.

GENE FARRIS
Gene Farris, 67, of Crossville, passed away Aug. 15, 2000, in Cumberland Medical Center. Funeral services were conducted Aug. 17 at Crossville Memorial Funeral Home, with burial in Oak Lawn Cemetery in the Pomona community. Robert Dodson officiated, with special music by Reba Russell.
Mr. Farris was born July 25, 1933, in Cumberland County, the son of Bert and Virgie Farris.
Survivors include his daughters, Angie Sharp and Kimberly Bilyeu, both of Crossville; sisters, Faye Smith, Virginia Taylor and Janie Wyatt, all of Crossville; brother, Bert Farris of San Antonio, TX; and one grandson.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Bert and Virgie Farris; and a brother, James C. Farris.
Pallbearers were David Taylor, Teddy Wyatt, John David Fitzgerald, Joe Walker, Bob Taylor and Dan Taylor.

JAMES ANDREWS HALVERSTADT
James Andrews Halverstadt, 87, of Nashville, TN, passed away Aug. 12, 2000, at Richland Place in Nashville. A memorial service was held Aug. 18 at Second Presbyterian Church in Nashville.
Mr. Halverstadt was born in Oct. 21, 1912 in Pittsburgh, PA, the son of Herbert and Gertrude Halverstadt.
He was a graduate of Darlington School in Darlington, SC; Davidson College in Davidson, NC; and Columbia Theological Seminary in Decatur, GA. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, reaching the rank of lieutenant commander. He served as business manager and legal representative of the American Presbyterian Congo Mission from 1946 to 1966 in the then-Belgian Congo. He returned to Nashville where he held the position of business manager of the Presbyterian Board of World Missions of the Presbyterian Church U.S. from 1966 until his retirement in 1974. He was an elder of the Second Presbyterian Church in Nashville, and a founding trustee of the Herbert and Gertrude Halverstadt Charitable Foundation.
Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth "Bette" Weaver Evans Halverstadt of Nashville, formerly of Crossville; son, the Rev. Dr. Hugh Halverstadt of Chicago, IL; grandsons, Peter Breen Halverstadt and David Andrews Halverstadt, both of Nashville; six stepchildren, Jacqueline W. Evans Elmore of DeRossett, TN, Thomas P. Evans of Knoxville, TN, Anna R. Evans Beesley and Arthur Cope Evans, both of Crossville, David L. Evans of Gainesville, FL, and Bruce E. Evans of Brookeville, MD; and 11 stepgrandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Herbert and Gertrude Halverstadt; his first wife, Charline Fleece Halverstadt; and a brother, Albert Nast Halverstadt.

JOSEPH C. HORRIGAN
Joseph C. Horrigan, 68, of Fairfield Glade, passed away Aug. 12, 2000. A memorial service was conducted Aug. 19 at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, with Father Patrick Brownell officiating.
Mr. Horrigan was born May 22, 1932, in Passaic, NJ, the son of Patrick and Lillian Horrigan.
He was a purchasing agent for Ford Motor Co., and was a veteran of the U.S. Navy.
Survivors include his wife, Louise Horrigan of Fairfield Glade; daughters, Catherine Breen of Sylvania, OH, and Joanne Horrigan of Ann Harbor, MI; son, Tim Horrigan of Austin, TX; stepdaughters, Geralyn MacDonald of Maui, HI, and Mary Duggan of Greensboro, NC; stepsons, Jim Kazanski of Frisco, TX, and Ted Kazanski of Tampa, FL; brother, Jack Horrigan of Simsbury, CT; sister, Ann O'Neil of Dallas, TX; and 12 grandsons.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Patrick and Lillian Horrigan; a son, Kevin Horrigan; and a sister, Mary Driscoll.

SHARON KAYE MEEKS
Sharon Kaye Meeks, 38, of Crossville, passed away Aug. 16, 2000. Funeral services were conducted Aug. 19 from the chapel of Crossville Memorial Funeral Home, with burial in Crossville City Cemetery. Howard Nussbaum officiated.
Ms. Meeks was born Sept. 20, 1961, in Cumberland County, the daughter of Ira and Iris Sherrill.
She was a bank teller at Cumberland County Bank.
Survivors include her parents, Ira and Iris Sherrill of Crossville; sister, Loretta Vanwinkle of Crossville; aunt, Bernice McCloud of Sevierville, TN; uncles, Paul Wolfe and Leonard Wolfe, both of Pleasant Hill, and Buster Wolfe of Crossville; one niece; and one nephew.
Pallbearers were Frank Blackstone, Jonathon Rose, Justin Norris, Jacob Norris, Scott Ashburn and Tony Vanwinkle.

JAMES D. NORRIS
James D. Norris, 59, of Crossville, passed away Aug. 2, 2000. Funeral services were conducted Aug. 5 from the chapel of Crossville Memorial Funeral Home, with burial in Creston Cemetery. Mike Kerley officiated.
Mr. Norris was born June 29, 1941, in Montgomery County, TN.
Survivors include his son, Kenneth Neil of Crossville; sisters, Elaine Christine and Dorothy Leak, both of Texas, and Frances Traylor of Clarksville, TN; brothers, Ronald McDaniel of Clarksville, and Billie Joe McDaniel and John Norris, both of Texas; and one grandchild.
Pallbearers were Danny Mathes, Tim Mathes, Gary Parsons, Dewey Parsons, Jason Smith and Carl Griffith.

WILLIE HAZEL PHILLIPS
Willie Hazel Phillips, 72, of Crossville, passed away Aug. 18, 2000, in WyndRidge Health and Rehabilitation Center. Funeral services were conducted Aug. 19 from the chapel of Bilbrey Funeral Home, with burial in Crossville City Cemetery. Bro. Thomas Hale officiated.
Mrs. Phillips was born March 16, 1928, in Cumberland County, the daughter of John and Annie Edwards Reed.
She was a homemaker, and a member of Stanley St. Church of God of Prophecy.
Survivors include a brother, Casto Reed of Crossville; daughter-in-law, Linda Phillips of Crossville; four grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, Danny Phillips.
Pallbearers were Al Scheele, Richard Howard, Jerry Wood, Wayne Hale, Eddie Kilgore and Jackie Warner.

LELA WHITTENBURG SMITH
Lela Whittenburg Smith, 93, of the Bakers Crossroads community, passed away Aug. 15, 2000 in Cumberland Medical Center. Funeral services were conducted Aug. 17 from the chapel of Burris Funeral Home, with burial in Green Acres Memory Gardens. The Rev. Carson Whittaker and the Rev. Delmar McCowen officiated.
Mrs. Smith was born Nov. 15, 1906, in Pickett County, TN, the daughter of Pierce and Alta Conaster Whittenburg.
She was a retired merchant and homemaker, and a member of Crossville First Freewill Baptist Church.
Survivors include her son, Butch Smith of Crossville; daughters, Carolyn Smith and June Howard, both of Crossville; sister, Hallie Russell of Crossville; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lecil Smith.
Pallbearers were Scotty Howard, Eric Smith, Robert Hayes, Freddie Whittenburg, Paul Whittenburg and Jimmy Cook.

Joy Fox Vickers, 62, of Crossville, passed away Aug. 15, 2000, at St. Thomas Hospital in Nashville, TN. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. today, Aug. 18, at the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper and Huddleston Funeral Home, with burial in Cookeville City Cemetery.
Visitation will be today at 11 a.m. until time of service at the funeral home.
Mrs. Vickers was born May 9, 1938, in Cookeville, TN, the daughter of Laura McCanless Fox Langford and the late Ethan Fox.
She was a branch manager with Cumberland County Bank in Crossville.
Survivors include her mother, Laura McCanless Fox Langford of Cookeville; son and daughter-in-law, Steve and Denise Vickers of Cookeville; two daughters and sons-in-law, Kim and Berkley Buchanan of Knoxville, TN, and Pam and Kevin Gilliam of Cookeville; and three grandsons.

Mrs. Hesson was born Jan. 10, 1921, in Putnam County, TN, the daughter of Arnold and Lona Gentry.
She was a restaurant worker.

Mr. Hyder was born Feb. 6, 1933, in Cumberland County, the son of Edward and Mae Dixon Hyder.

Mrs. Parsons was born Sept. 24, 1931, in Cumberland County, the daughter of Chas and Dovie Wilson Harris.

Samuel Boles, 89, of Crossville, passed away Aug. 7, 2000. Funeral services were conducted Aug. 10 from the chapel of Crossville Memorial Funeral Home, with burial in Haley's Grove Cemetery. Terry Barnwell and Jack Lawson officiated.
Mr. Boles was born Sept. 17, 1910, in Cumberland County.
He was a farmer.

Clyde Louise Leynes Boyles, 88, of Gainesville, FL, passed away Aug. 11, 2000. Graveside funeral services were conducted Aug. 15 at Laurel Hill Cemetery in Archer, FL.
Mrs. Boyles was born Oct. 10, 1911, in Archer, and was a lifelong resident of Gainesville.
She was a teacher at several one-room schoolhouses throughout Florida, including Westville and LaCrosse, FL. She taught at the Archer School and Stephen Foster Elementary School for 30 years before retiring. She attended Florida State College for Women and received her teaching certificate; she also received a degree in education from the University of Florida. She was a member of the American Business Women's Association, and volunteered as one of the "Pink Ladies" at Alachua General Hospital for 15 years. She was a charter member of the Crevasses of Cedar Key chapter of the United Daughters of the Confederacy, and a member and trustee of Highlands Presbyterian Church in Gainesville.
Survivors include her daughter, Carol Anne Boyles Irvin of Crossville; son and daughter-in-law, Shelton and Beth Boyles of Gainesville; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Drew Carlos Boyles.

Robert J. Boncher, 39, of Crossville, passed away July 25, 2000. He will be buried in Kentucky, next to his two sons.
Mr. Boncher was born Oct. 24, 1960, in Madison, WI, the son of Robert W. and Madonna Boncher.
He was a custodian at Glen L. Martin Elementary School and worked part-time as a farmer. He was a student at Roane State Community College.

Edward Junior Hinton, 69, of the Cumberland Cove community near Monterey, TN, passed away Aug. 8, 2000, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be conducted Monday, Aug. 14 at Alligood-Carol Funeral Home in Miami, FL, with entombment to follow in Woodlawn Park South Cemetery in Miami.
Mr. Hinton was born Oct. 27, 1930, in Kingston, OH, the son of the late Harold and Florence Lively Hinton.
He was a retired commercial airline pilot with Eastern Airlines and a member of the Retired Eastern Airlines Pilots Association. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Korean War. He was a member of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Parish in Miami and attended St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in Cookeville, TN. He was an avid golfer and a member of the Mountain Ridge Golf Club.
Survivors include his wife of 46 years, JoAnne Cave Hinton; three daughters and sons-in-law, Kathleen and Christopher Yates of Del Ray Beach, FL, Jeanne and Stephen Siegel and Lora and Stephen Spratt, all of Miami; two sons and a daughter-in-law, David and Cindy Hinton and William "Bill" Hinton, all of Miami; and 10 grandchildren, Nicholas, Michael, Taylor and Jennifer Yates, Katherine and Sarah Siegel, Daniel, Brian and Tyler Spratt and Edward Hinton.

LYLE STEPHEN POTTER SR.
Lyle Stephen Potter Sr., of Crossville, passed away Aug. 1, 2000, in Cumberland Medical Center.
Mr. Potter was born June 1, 1941, in Hinkley, NY, the son of William and Alice Hughes Potter.
He was an orderly for Marcy State Hospital, and of the Protestant faith.
Survivors include his wife, Sharon Moore Potter of Crossville; two daughters, Nancy Pritchard and Darlene Potter, both of Crossville; two sons, Edward Potter of Crossville and Lyle S. Potter Jr. of Florida; four sisters, Isabel Sealman, Kathy Carrigan, Dorothy Sealman and Iva Freeman, all of New York; five brothers, Fred Potter of Kentucky, George Potter, John Potter, Bill Potter and Harold Potter, all of New York; and 10 grandchildren.

JACK FLOYD
Jack Floyd, 61, of Monterey, TN, passed away Aug. 1, 2000, at Cumberland Medical Center. Funeral services will be conducted today, Aug. 4, at 1 p.m. from the chapel of Goff Funeral Home in Monterey, with interment in Welch Memorial Cemetery. The Rev. Bobby Floyd will officiate.
Mr. Floyd was born March 11, 1939, to the late Tommie and Susie Enochs Floyd.
He was a roofer.
Survivors include his wife, Linda Kinney Floyd of Monterey; two stepsons, Michael Kinney of Peoria, IL, and James Gresham of Aguana, Guam; four sisters, Helen Stidham of Cookeville, TN, Tommie Jean Roberson and Joyce Bowman, both of Monterey, and Lucille Reynolds of Florida; and three brothers, Ralph Floyd and Charles Floyd, both of Nashville, TN, and Eddie Floyd of Salem, OR.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Lou Walker.

ARVELLA HUGHES
Arvella Hughes, 71, of Crossville, passed away Aug. 1, 2000, at Cumberland Medical Center. Funeral services will be conducted today, Aug. 4, at 10 a.m. from the chapel of Burris Funeral Home, with burial in Sand Springs Cemetery. The Rev. Randy Tate and the Rev. Bill Roberts will officiate, with special music by Wade and Angela Kreis.
Mrs. Hughes was born March 30, 1929, in Dayton, OH, the daughter of Greenberry and Callie Welch Braddam.
She was a homemaker, and of the Baptist faith. She attended Memorial Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband of 57 years, Edwin Hughes of Crossville; son and daughter-in-law, Jim and Vicki Hughes of Galena, OH; daughter and son-in-law, Pat and Randy Tate of Huntington, WV; brothers, Harvey Braddam of Mayland and Tom Braddam of Crossville; sisters, Notie Hedgecoth of Pleasant Hill, Linda Garrett and Nancy Rector, both of Mayland; and grandchildren, Chris Tate of Atlanta, GA, David Tate of Huntington, WV, Lori and Scott Wagner of Ashley, OH, Amy Hughes of Lima, OH, and Angie Hughes of Westerville, OH.
Her grandchildren will serve as pallbearers.

MILTA PIPPIN VAUGHN
Milta Pippin Vaughn, 79, of Cookeville, TN, passed away Aug. 1, 2000, at home. Funeral services were conducted Aug. 3 from the chapel of Whitson Funeral Home in Cookeville, with burial in Cookeville City Cemetery. Bro. Ronnie Cobb officiated.
Mrs. Vaughn was born April 5, 1921, in Cookeville, the daughter of Emery and Mallie Welch Pippin.
She was a homemaker, and she was a member of Pippin Church of Christ.
Survivors include her husband, Frank H. Vaughn of Cookeville; daughter and son-in-law, Maxine and Charles Frasier of Cookeville; five sisters, Mintie Newcomer and Hazel Jackson, both of Michigan, Mamie Chaffin of Baxter, TN, and Maudie Farris and Margie Dyer, both of Cookeville; grandsons, Robert J. Frasier and his wife Sherry, Charles Frasier Jr. and Nathan Frasier, all of Cookeville; and three great-grandchildren, Jason, Paige and Macy Frasier.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Emery and Mallie Pippin; sister, Mona Benson; and four brothers, Flaskie Pippin, Thomas Woodfork Pippin, Freelon Pippin and Emery "Sonny" Pippin Jr.
Pallbearers were grandsons, Robert J. Frasier, Charles Frasier Jr. and Nathan Frasier; great-grandson, Jason Frasier; and brothers-in-law, Fred Farris and Harold Dyer.
Memorial contributions may be made to Lazarus House Hospice of Cookeville.

MARGARET A. WIDENER
Margaret A. Widener, 65, of Cookeville, TN, passed away July 31, 2000. Funeral services were conducted Aug. 2 from Crossville Memorial Funeral Home, with burial in Howard Cemetery. Gene Burgess and Wayne Depew officiated.
Mrs. Widener was born May 8, 1935, in Knox County, TN, the daughter of Oscar and Katherine Baker.
She was a homemaker.
Survivors include her husband, Donald Widener of Cookeville; four daughters, Donna Widener and Monica Lawson, both of Knoxville, TN, and Ramona Young and Marlene Madden, both of Sparta, TN; one son, Paul Widener of Sparta; and eight grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Oscar and Katherine Baker.
Pallbearers were Frank McKinney, Stanton Vitatoe, Casey Price, David Lowe, J.R. Miller and Tony Gentry.

APRIL JEANNETTE LINDSEY
April Jeannette Lindsey, 16, of Monterey, TN, passed away July 29, 2000, at Erlanger Medical Center in Chattanooga, TN. Funeral services were conducted Aug. 1 at Monterey United Methodist Church, with burial in Whittaker Cemetery. Dr. Martin Thielen officiated.
Miss Lindsey was born April 26, 1984, in Cookeville, TN, the daughter of Marilyn Gay Looper Lindsey and Donald Neal Lindsey.
She would have been a junior this fall at Cumberland County High School, where she played flute in the CCHS Marching Band. She attended Crossville and Monterey United Methodist churches. She was a volunteer with the Temporary Shelter in Crossville, active in Cumberland County 4-H and was employed at Crossville Ponderosa and Bright Futures Inc.
Survivors include her mother, Marilyn Gay Looper Lindsey of Monterey; father, Donald Neal Lindsey of Cookeville; sister, Melanie Lindsey, and brother, Jacob Lindsey, both of Monterey; maternal grandparents, G.O. (Gaynol) and Dorothy Looper of Monterey; and paternal grandparents, Thurman and Illa Lindsey of Cookeville.
Pallbearers were Kevin Terry, Doug Parker, Jeremy Whitcom, Abe Garrett, David Looper and John Looper.
Honorary pallbearers were employees of Crossville Ponderosa and Crossville Burger King; members of Cumberland County 4-H, Cumberland County High School Marching Band and Crossville United Methodist Church Youth Group; and Johnny and Chris Looper.

JAMES FRANKLIN GROSECLOSE
James "Frank" Franklin Groseclose, 76, of the Tansi community, passed away July 16, 2000, in Cumberland Medical Center. Funeral services were conducted July 19 from Burris Funeral Home, with burial in Green Acres Memory Gardens. The Rev. James Beasley officiated.
Mr. Groseclose was born June 5, 1924, in New Market, TN, the son of Sidney and Lela Collins Groseclose.
He was a retired firefighter with the Dayton, OH, Fire Department.
Survivors include his wife, Miriam Groseclose of Tansi; son and daughter-in-law, James Sidney and Lisa Groseclose of Kettering, OH; daughter and son-in-law, Sue and Bill Combs of Swansea, IL; sisters, Ruby Walker of Knoxville, TN, and Pauline Dale of New Market; special cousins, William Marton Groseclose of Knoxville and Jane Davis of New Market; and one grandchild, Daniel Combs of Swansea.

JOYCE ANN RANDOLPH
Joyce Ann Randolph, 43, of Monterey, TN, passed away July 27, 2000, at the Cookeville Regional Medical Center. Funeral services were conducted July 29 from the chapel of Goff Funeral Home in Monterey, with interment in the Smith Chapel Cemetery. Bro. Bobby Floyd officiated.
Mrs. Randolph was born Jan. 7, 1957, in St. Mary's, OH, the daughter of Martin and Josie Thompson Hoskins.
Survivors include her husband, Gary Randolph of Monterey; parents, Martin and Josie Hoskins of Crossville; son, Eric Dixon of Celina, OH; daughter, April Grobby of Celina; stepdaughters, Brenda Phillips of Hanging Limb, TN, and Rebekah Randolph of Monterey; six sisters, Sue Compson and Rosie Bollinger, both of Crossville; Sarah McGee, Diane Bailey and Erma Elliott, all of LaFollette, TN, and Sissie Cubbison of Monroe, NC; and five brothers, Marty Hoskins of LaFollette, and Doyle Hoskins, Clay Hoskins, Monroe Hoskins and Jeff Hoskins, all of Crossville.

Alcie Velver Whittaker, 96, of Crossville, passed away July 25, 2000. Funeral services were conducted July 27 from Crossville Memorial Funeral Home, with burial in Mt. Gilead Cemetery. Carson Whittaker officiated.
Mrs. Whittaker was born Sept. 2, 1903, in White County, TN, the daughter of William Andrew and Lillie Ann Phipps.
She was a homemaker.
Survivors include her daughter, Roxie Lee Keyes of Crossville; daughters and sons-in-law, Lillie Berniece and Clifford French of Jamestown, TN, and Evelyn and Tom Parsons of Crossville; sisters, Willie "Bill" McCormick, Alma Lee Tollett and Lillian Hamilton, all of Crossville; 12 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and 13 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dee Whittaker; parents, William Andrew and Lillie Ann Phipps; sons, Harold Whittaker and William Kenneth Whittaker; son-in-law, Sylvester Keyes; stepmother, Laurie Phipps; brothers, John Phipps, Joe Phipps and Hershal Phipps; sisters, Bertie Lee Phipps, Mime Phipps, Modena Phipps, Beulah Wyatt and Dora Caruthers; grandson, Ivan Keyes; granddaughter, Elizabeth Ball; and great-grandson, Michael Keyes.
Pallbearers were Dale Robbins, Donald Beaty, Phillip Ray Keyes, Arthur Andrew Walker, Joseph Clifford French Jr. and Baxter Benton French.
Honorary pallbearers were Larry Parsons, Roger Keyes, Dustin Robbins, Charles Whittaker and Tony Parsons.
