Funeral services for Flora Marie Burden, 70, of Crossville, who passed away Dec. 23, 1999, were held Dec. 27 from the chapel of Bilbrey Funeral Home, with burial in Hall Cemetery. Bro. Thomas Hale officiated.
She was born Oct. 4, 1929 in Cumberland County, the daughter of Horace Wilker Brown and Nella Jane Davis Brown.
Mrs. Burden was a homemaker.
Survivors include her husband, George Burden of Crossville; daughters, Nancy Gibbons and Mary Daniels, both of Crossville; son, Charles Houston, Coy Houston and Richard Houston, all of Crossville; 13 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; brother, John "Man" Brown of Crossville; and sisters, Carrie Brown and Myrtle Walker, both of Crossville.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Samuel Hoyt Houston.
Pallbearers were Paul Gibbons, George Gibbons, Danny Smith, Chad Roysdon, Donnie Bohannon, David Gaston and Terence Tollett.

FRED GREEN
Funeral services for Fred Green, formerly of Crossville, who passed away Dec. 21, 1999, were held Dec. 27 from the chapel of Burris Funeral Home, with burial in Green Acres Memory Gardens. Bro. Glen Goggins officiated.
He was born Feb. 25, 1920, in Heddix, KY, the son of William and Matilda Campbell Green.
Mr. Green was a laborer in the construction industry. He was of the Church of Christ faith.
Survivors include many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service for Eddie H. Hickey, 66, of Nashville, who passed away Dec. 26, 1999, were scheduled today, Dec. 29, at 4 p.m. at Blue Springs Presbyterian Church in Sparta, TN. The Rev. Bob McCormick will officiate.
Survivors include his wife, Martha Sorrell Hickey; son, Michael H. Hickey, of Houston, TX; daughter, Lenora Hickey Kirby (Kent), of Nashville; brothers, Bill, Tom and John Hickey, all of Sparta; and grandchildren, Lauren and Sean Hickey.

MAGGIE MAE HODGE
Maggie Mae Hodge, 87, of Inverness, FL, and formerly a resident of Crossville, passed away Dec. 24, 1999, in Inverness. Funeral services were Dec. 28.
She was born in White County, TN, to Willie and Lue Della Dethridge on March 4, 1912.
She came to Florida in December 1997 from Crossville to be near family. She was a retired nursing assistant, and she was of the Baptist faith.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jasper Hodge, who died on Oct. 12, 1960.
Survivors include her sons, Sanford S. Hodge of Homosassa, FL, and James B. Hodge of Bellbrook, OH; daughter, Sharon L. Ogden of Columbus, OH; brothers, Homer Dethridge of Fayetteville, NC, Willis Dethridge of Vass, NC, and T.A. Dethridge of Pennsylvania; sister, Mary Helen Gensheimer of West Harrison, OH; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

EDWARD "ED" LESLIE KEYES
Funeral services for Edward "Ed" Leslie Keyes, 75, of Crossville, who passed away Dec. 18, 1999, were held Dec. 21 from the chapel of Bilbrey Funeral Home, with burial in Green Acres Memory Gardens. Bro. Mike Kerley officiated.
He was born May 29, 1924 in Cumberland County, the son of Sanders and Ellie Woody Keyes.
Mr. Keyes was a construction worker, and he was a member of Cornerstone Baptist Church. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Arlean Pyles Keyes of Crossville; son, Rickie Keyes of Crossville; daughters, Janie Woody, Carolyn Brendel and Tella Thomas, all of Crossville; 10 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; brothers, Gene Keyes and Oliver Keyes, both of Detroit, MI, and Wallace Keyes of Crossville; and sisters, Christine Wattenbarger, Mae Miller, Thelma Hall, all of Crossville, and Jewel Mayse of Detroit.

LIZZIE DAUGHERTY LEWIS
Funeral services for Lizzie Daugherty Lewis, 74, of the Clifty community, who passed away Dec. 27, 1999, will be held Dec. 30 at 1 p.m. from the Ridgedale Freewill Baptist Church. Burial will be in Clifty Cemetery. Bro. Gary Lewis will officiate.
Visitation will be tonight, Dec. 29, from 6 to 9 p.m. at Thurman Funeral Home in Sparta, TN.
She was born June 26, 1925 in Roaring Fork, VA, the daughter of Edward Payne Daugherty and Ellen West Daugherty.
Mrs. Lewis was a homemaker.
Survivors include her husband, John Ben Lewis of Sparta; sons, Robert Joseph Lewis and Steven Douglas Daughtery, both of Sparta; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

CALLIE ENLOE MYERS

He was born April 24, 1912 in Cumberland County, the son of Anis William Myers and Josie Hale Myers.
Mr. Myers was a deliveryman for Cumberland Laundry, and he was a member of First Christian Church.

He was born March 29, 1927 in Detroit, MI.
Mr. David was a retired tool and die maker for the Chrysler Corporation. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, and was a Mason.

Graveside services for Jason Aaron McCulley, 28, of Crossville, formerly of Rockwood, who passed away Dec. 20, 1999, were scheduled for today, Dec. 24, at 11 a.m., in Oak Grove Cemetery in Rockwood.
Mr. McCulley was a self-employed carpenter.
Funeral services were scheduled for Dec. 23 at 8 p.m. from the chapel of Evans Mortuary in Rockwood, with visitation from 6 p.m. until time of service.
Survivors include his son, Jason Aaron McCulley Jr., of Rockwood; father Harry A. She was born June 1, 1921 in Nashville, TN, the daughter of John and Martha Edwards Trotter.
Mrs. Clouse was a nurse's aide at Cumberland Medical Center, and she was of the Baptist faith.

He was born Dec. 31, 1923 in Montgomery, AL, the son of Wiley T. Jones and Emma Jane Tabor Jones.

Mr. Elmore was a machinist with the Avery Dennison Corp., and he was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force.

He was born April 2, 1923 in Cumberland County, the son of Joe and Della Norris Green.

Clarence Edwin Grover, 81, of Crossville who passed away Dec. 14, 1999.
He was born May 18, 1918, in Pittsfield, ME, the son of Royal L. and Mary Geneva Grover.
Mr. Grover was a retired electrical engineer for the U.S. government at Port Smith naval shipyard.
Survivors include his wife, Ova Grover of Crossville; sons, Ernie Grover of Springvale, ME, and Doug Grover of Alabama; stepsons, Randy Threet of Nashville, TN, and David Morgan of Crossville; stepdaughter, Margaret Branstetter of Crossville; five grandchildren; six stepgrandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

DORA JANE LEWIS
Funeral services for Dora Jane Lewis, 81, of Crossville, who passed away Dec. 19, 1999, will be held today, Dec. 21, at 2 p.m. from the chapel of Crossville Memorial Funeral Home. Burial will be in Taylor's Chapel Cemetery. Pastor Junior Pugh will officiate.

She was born May 24, 1918 in Cumberland County.

MARK TREK PROFITT
Mark Trek Profitt, 44, of Gilcrest, CO, passed away Dec. 4, 1999, in Longmont, CO.
He was born May 2, 1955 in Dayton, OH, the son of William C. and Jeannetta Pogue Profitt.
Mr. Profitt graduated from Beaver Creek High School in Beaver Creek, OH, in 1973. He began his law enforcement career as a member of the Ohio State Capitol Security Guard in Columbus and graduated from the Miami Township Police Academy in Ohio. He served in the security forces branch of the Air Force from 1975-Õ83. In 1985, he became a Weld County, CO, deputy sheriff. He was recognized as one of the unit's best traffic accident investigators, receiving numerous awards and citations.
He was active in his community and had served on the Gilcrest town board for eight years.
Survivors include his wife, Kim; sons, Michael C. and Marshall A. Profitt of Gilcrest; foster daughter, Anjoleen Gray of Loveland, CO; parents, William C. and Jeannetta O. Profitt of Fairfield Glade; sisters, Lt. Col. Kelli Ballengee, of Herndon, VA, and Mona Viney of Yorba Linda, CA; foster brother, Don Thompson of Oregon; and five grandchildren.
Memorial services were held in the Valley High School auditorium in Gilcrest on Dec. 9, Pastor Paul Wakefield officiating. An Air Force Honor Guard from F.E. Warren AFB in Cheyenne, WY, and Weld County sheriff's officers conducted military and law enforcement ceremonies on the school campus. More than 400 friends, fellow officers and personnel from many Colorado law enforcement agencies attended.

JEAN STEVENS
Funeral services for Jean Stevens, 82, of Crossville, who passed away Dec. 17, 1999, were held Dec. 19 from the chapel of Crossville Memorial Funeral Home, with burial in Elmore Cemetery. Pastor Scott White officiated.
She was born Aug. 16, 1917 in Cumberland County.
Miss Stevens was a waitress.

She was born Dec. 23, 1910, in Pineville, KY, the daughter of the late Presley and Bessie Mason Montgomery.
She was a homemaker, and she was a member of Monterey Church of God of Prophecy.

DR. EARL L. GROVE
Funeral services for Dr. Earl L. Grove, 68, of Selma, IN, and formerly of Fairfield Glade, who died Dec. 10, 1999, at his home, were held Tuesday, Dec. 14, at St. Luke's United Methodist Church in Indianapolis, IN, with burial in Gardens of Memory in Muncie, IN.
Dr. Grove was born Feb. 19, 1931, and was a retired educator. He earned his bachelorÕs and masterÕs degree from Ball State University and his doctorate of educational administration in 1969 from Indiana University.
He taught at Selma (IN) High School and served as principal at Middletown and Greensfork high schools in Indiana. He taught graduate classes at Butler University, served as superintendent of schools in Yorktown, IN, from 1970-Õ76, and as assistant superintendent of schools in Decatur Township from 1976 until his retirement in 1994.
A veteran of the U.S. Army and the Korean War, Dr. Grove was a member of Elks Lodge No. 13 in Indianapolis and the Parker City Masonic Lodge.
Dr. Grove is survived by wife, J. Elaine Mauch Grove; daughters, Sherry S. Collins of Fort Wayne, IN, and Terri Schafstall of Syracuse, IN; son Perry Grove of Indianapolis; and five grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a wife, Mrs. Nancy Sue Gallipo Grove, who died in 1983.

Mr. Gillin worked for Bethlehem Steel, and he was a member of the Church of the Brethren. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served during World War II.

He was born July 20, 1944, in Oakdale, LA, the son of Jake and Mildred Burgin.
Mr. Burgin moved to Tennessee in 1983, joining his brother in business with B.J. of Tennessee Inc.
Mourning the loss of Bob is his wife, Sandra Burgin, and their children, Janie Bea, James, Russell and Janette. He was most proud of his grandchildren, Noah Sutherland Burgin and Cassandra LeAnne Burgin. He was a beloved husband, father, and son. His presence will be felt for generations.

Graveside services for Willie Mae Coovert, 99, of Pleasant Hill, who passed away Nov. 21, 1999, were held Nov. 24 in Greenwood Cemetery, in Greenwood, IN.
She was born July 23, 1900 near Harrodsburg, KY, the daughter of Lillie Hendricks Overstreet and William Edward Overstreet. Mrs. Coovert had been a member of Hopewell Baptist Church near Mayo, KY, since childhood. In 1915 she married Garnett Coovert, and moved with her husband to Indianapolis, IN, in 1921. During World War II, she worked at Allison Aircraft Motor Co. and Hoosier Veneer Co. in Indianapolis.
Mrs. Coovert moved to Fort Lauderdale, FL, in 1963, and for 11 years worked as a foster grandparent in the Broward County School System.
She moved to Uplands Retirement Village in 1983, and in 1994 entered Wharton Nursing Home, where she was living at the time of her death.
Survivors include her son, Gilbert Truman Coovert; two grandsons, one stepgranddaughter; one great-granddaughter; one great-grandson; two stepgreat-grandsons; two great-great-grandchildren; a nephew and his wife, son and daughter.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Garnett Coovert, in 1958, and also an infant daughter.
Wilson-St. Pierre Mortuary was in charge of arrangements in Indiana.

ODA HOWARD

Funeral services for Oda Howard, 63, of Crossville, who passed away Dec. 2, 1999, were held Dec. 4 from the chapel of Crossville Memorial Funeral Home, with burial in Gravel Lawn Cemetery in Fortville, IN. Pastor William Howard officiated. She was born May 11, 1936 in Flat Lick, KY.
Mrs. Howard was a homemaker.
Survivors include her husband, John Howard of Crossville; sons, John M. Howard of Indianapolis, IN, and Stephen O. Howard of Fortville; daughter, Tammy Curry of Crossville; brother, William Hubbard Jr. of Williamsburg, KY; sisters, Sudie Gray of Bimble, KY, and Martha Warren of Barbourville, KY; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Cumberland County.

LENA K. KEYES

Funeral services for Lena K. Keyes, 71, of Crossville, who passed away Dec. 2, 1999, were held Dec. 4 from the chapel of Crossville Memorial Funeral Home, with burial Green Acres Memory Gardens. Pastor Terry Barnwell officiated. She was born July 22, 1999, in Fentress County, TN.
Mrs. Keyes was a homemaker.
Survivors include her stepsons, Ronald Keyes, Kenneth Keyes, Joe Keyes, and Dale Keyes, all of Crossville, and Jeff Keyes of Rickman, TN; brother, George Cooper of Crossville; nine stepgrandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and sister-in-law, Shirley Pryor of Crossville.
Pallbearers were Mark Cooper, Steve Tabor, Donnie Cooper, Lowell Norris, Tony Cooper, Willie Norris and Michael Norris. Crossville Memorial Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangments.

HARRY ANGLE MANON

A memorial service for Harry Angle Manon, 80, of Pleasant Hill, who passed away Nov. 28, 1999, will be held Dec. 18 at 3 p.m. at Pleasant Hill Community Church, UCC. Interment will follow in Pleasant Hill Community Church Memorial Garden, UCC.
The Rev. Manon had been a pastor in churches in Pennsylvania, Ohio, Buffalo, New York and Missouri, and retired in 1984 from St. Paul's United Church of Christ in Titusville, PA, after seven years. From 1961 to 1972, he was executive secretary of campus ministries for Pennsylvania.
A member of the class of 1937 of William Penn Senior High School in York, PA, the Rev. Manon later graduated from Franklin and Marshall College, Lancaster, PA, and Eden Theological Seminary in Webster Groves, St. Louis, MO. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, serving with the 83rd Division, and attaining the rank of captain.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Margaret A. Hartman Manon; sons, Peter Manon of Ocala, FL, and Jon R. Manon of Newark, DE; sister, Mary M. Bowman of York, PA, and four grandchildren.

ALVIN E. "GENE" STOUT

Funeral services for Alvin E. "Gene" Stout, 63, of Crossville, who passed away Dec. 1, 1999, were held Dec. 3 from the chapel of Crossville Memorial Funeral Home, with burial in Green Acres Memory Gardens. The Rev. Vern Daughtery officiated. He was born Jan. 27, 1936, in Cumberland County.
Mr. Stout was in sales in the Crossville area for many years, and he was a former Crossville mayor and Cumberland County commissioner.
Survivors include his daughters and son-in-law, Sheila A. Crabtree, and Lisa and David Smith, all of Crossville; son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Ann Stout of Crossville; grandchildren, Ashley Smith, Trey H. and Logan Crabtree, and Kelly M. Cope; 19 great-grandchildren; mother, Shelia Aline Stout of Crossville; sister and brother-in-law, Faye and David Watson of Nashville; brothers and sisters-in-law, Charles and Nelda Stout and David Lee and Anna Ruth Stout, all of Crossville; fiancee and devoted friend, Pauline D. Hillis of Crossville; and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were Davey Watson, Wiley Potter, Brett Elmore, Keith Smith, Adam Hale, Billy Smith, Joe Fann and Randy Alley. Honorary pallbearers were J.H. ROBERT G. STUMP

A memorial Mass for Robert G. Stump, 60, of Crossville, who passed away Nov. 23, 1999, in Florida, will be celebrated Dec. 11 at 1:30 from Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Lansing, MI.
He was born July 31, 1939 in Lansing, the son of Richard and Evelyn Stump.
Mr. Stump was an electrical engineer. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, and was of the Catholic faith.
Survivors include his wife, Cheri L. Stump of Crossville; sons, Jeffrey Stump of Holland, MI, David Stump of Greenville, MI, and Robert Stump of Wyoming, MI; brothers, James Stump and Richard Stump, both of Lansing, MI; and four grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, or American Cancer Society. Family Funeral Services in Winter Haven, FL, were in charge of arrangements.

LEE JAY GABLE

Lee Jay Gable passed away Nov. 25, 1999. He was born in Roaring Creek, Columbia County, PA, on March 16, 1907. He was the son of Martin Allen Gable and Jennie Rae Mensch Gable.

He was a graduate of Mount Carmel High School, Franklin and Marshall College, the Theological Seminary at Lancaster, PA, and earned an master's degree and PhD. from the University of Pennsylvania.
The Rev. Gable was ordained as a pastor of the Reformed Church (now the United Church of Christ) in 1931. He was pastor of St. Paul's and St. John's (Blymire's) churches in Dallastown, PA. He served as director of Christian education and church school administration for the Pennsylvania State Sabbath School Association, the Evangelical and Reformed Church, the International Council of Religious Education and the National Council of Churches. In 1952, he became professor of Christian education at Lancaster Seminary, where he also served as dean of the faculty. He retired in 1974, then served as interim pastor of Windward UCC, Kailua, HI, a UCC church in Hilo, HI, Brookmeade UCC, Nashville, TN, and St. Peter's UCC in Lancaster, PA, and helped found Fairfield Glade Community Church.

Rev. Gable and his wife, Ann, moved to Uplands Retirement Village in Pleasant Hill, where he continued his active role in the church and community.

Dr. Gable authored four books, Evangelical Academy and Parish in West Germany 1945-1961, Encyclopedia for Church Group Leaders, Shaping of a Life and Learnings of a Lifetime, as well as numerous articles in the Christian and secular press.

He was a member of Pleasant Hill Community Church, UCC, and the Church of the Apostles, UCC, in Lancaster, PA, and he was a member of Phi Delta Kappa.

Survivors include his daughters and sons-in-law, Carolyn and George Toth, of Kissimmee, FL, and Marian and John Parsons, of Logmont, CO; and grandchildren Brian Toth, and his wife, MaryAnn, of Suffolk, VA, Timothy Toth and his wife, Jennifer, of Altoona, PA, Andrea Schweitzer of Fort Collins, CO, and Erika Schweitzer Kenney and her husband, Thomas, of Denver, CO; and great-grandchildren, Stephen, Christian, and Andrew Toth, all of Altoona, PA.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, AnnaMary Hinkle Gable, in 1991.

ROSIE GERTRUDE McCOY

Funeral services for Rosie Gertrude McCoy, 85, of Crossville, who passed away Nov. 25, 1999, were held Nov. 28 from the chapel of Crossville Memorial Funeral Home, with burial in Elmore Cemetery. She was born June 21, 1914 in Cumberland County.

Mrs. McCoy was a housewife.
Survivors include her husband, Oley Emright McCoy of Crossville; sons and daughters-in-law, Herbert and Wilma McCoy of Crossville, and Dean and Mary Lou McCoy of Clarkrange, TN; 12 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, friends and relatives.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Mattie Faye McCoy.
Pallbearers were her grandsons, David, Tom, Tim, Marty, Glen, Trent, Rick and Jason. Crossville Memorial Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
